Great War: Part 1

The Great School War

Introduction

This is the story of the Greatest War Game ever played in the World History of Tankery. In this story you will see the Point of View from several different peoples from both sides of the Conflict. Both Allied and Axis, so that you may get a better understanding of the conflict and the people.

Two extraordinary events happened after the 62 Sensha-Do National. One, Kuromorimine High School Was Defeated for the first time in nine years. Two, High School Students from eight different schools defeated a University Tankery Team. These two singular events created an upset in the Tankery Federation and in the world of Tankery itself. There was a fierce demand from Fans and other Tank Enthusiast for more Tankery. So, shortly after Selection University was defeated, The Japanese Sensha-Do Federation announced that there would be a massive event that will include all Major and Minor schools. However, if the school chooses too, they may be allowed not to participate.

And this wear out story starts, with the meeting of all Major and Minor High Schools to discuss this grand event.

Chapter 1

A War like no other

Meeting Hall

Tokyo, Japan

6:30 P.M.

Miho

Miho Nishizumi, Overall Commander of the Oorai Tankery Club, sat in the Commander's Area on the Ground floor of the large Sansha-Do Federation Convention hall. She was surrounded by Commanders. Some she knew, and some she didn't. Two representatives from each of the Major and Minor Schools Tankery and Airsoft Regiment Commanders sat at two sets of large tables split down the middle by an front of the Commanders table was another table on a riser. There sat The Head of the JSF, A General Representing the JGSDF, Two members representing the Japanese Ministry of Education. They were in deep conversation with themselves.

All around them were tall high risers where the Rest of the Tankery class students of all Major and Minor schools sat to watch the meeting. Currently the whole Convention Hall was filled with the sound of over a thousand students talking. The meeting hadn't started yet because they were still waiting on Pravda and Kiromorimine, who had yet to arrive.

Miho, herself sat in her chair quite nervous and quiet. She still wasn't used to this. All of the attention that came with being the Overall Commander. She wasn't the only one it seemed sitting next to her was Emma Tanaka, the Overall Commander for Oorai Airsoft Regiment (A.R.). She had long black hair and very blue eyes. And right now, she looked like she was about to have a nervous breakdown.

"Are you ok?" Miho asked? Emma looked at her with wide eyes.

"Y-yes!"

"Don't worry, you kinda get used to it." Miho gave her a kind smile. Emma seemed to relax a little. Miho understood better than anyone the anxiety of being a new commander. The Airsoft Regiment was a fairly small sport, and didn't get much attention from the people. Emma's relaxation lasted for a few seconds before,

"HIYA MIHO!" Came an energetic voice. Kay, the Commander of Saunders High School Tankery Class, slapped Miho on the shoulder causing Miho to almost jump out of her seat.

"H-Hi Kay…" Miho said, regaining her senses. Another girl Miho didn't recognize stood behind Kay. She also had the same Saunders confidence. You could tell in the way she stood. She had light brown hair styled in an undercut.

"Let me introduce you to Saunders Airsoft Regiment Commander, General Nancy Grant." Kay motioned to the girl behind her. She wore the same White button up with a white black tie, accompanied with the red skirt and the classic Saunders Grey blazer. The only difference is that she didn't wear the long white stallings Kay wore. That seemed to be A Kay Thing.

She stepped forward and extended her hand. Miho stood and took hers.

"Nice to meet you. I've heard much about you." She said with a grin. Miho's cheeks flushed red.

"Th-thank you!" She said as she bowed. Nancy giggled.

"You were right Kay," she said as she turned to the Tank Commander. "She does get embarrassed easily."

Miho's cheeks turned redder. She then remembered Emma.

"Oh! Let me introduce you to-"

"Emma." Nancy said. She turned to Emma, who stood. They shook hands. Emma looked somewhat relaxed, and yet very nervous. "Emma and I went to primary and Middle school. I know her family very well." Nancy continued.

"Oh how cool! I'm Kay! It's very nice to meet you!" Kay said. Emma extended her hand, but Kay moved it aside and hugged her. Emma was completely petrified. Kay pulled back and patted her on the shoulder. Something Miho had received herself after Oorai beat Saunders in the opening round of the 63rd Sensha-Do Tournament.

"Oh hey look it's Darjeeling! C'mon Nance!" Kay said as she began to mov3 pulling Nancy away. "Catch ya later You two!"

Miho looked back at Emma and smiled weekly rubbing the back of her neck.

"Sorry about that." She said. Emma giggled.

"It's ok. It was nice to see Nancy." She said as she looked over her shoulder.

"So how long have you known each other?" Miho asked. She didn't really know much about the A.R. Commander. They had only briefly met once at Oorais Parade day.

"Well, our parents knew each other in high school, so I guess since before we were born." She said smiling. "Nancy was always more confident then I was. It was sad when her family moved to Nagasaki. We only ever see each other at matches." She finished.

She sunk into her chair. Miho did so too. She wanted to say something to make the girl feel better, but didn't know what to say.

Kay

Kay, followed by Nancy, walked up to wear Saint Gloriana was. they Passed Anzio's Commander, Anchovy, who was in deep Conversation with Nishi the overall commander of Chi-Ha-Tan. Kay had a bad feeling when she saw this but couldn't place a finger on why.

Darjeeling, the Tank Commander of who was very noticeable by her blonde hair tucked into a French braid, was in deep conversation with the tank Commander from Koala High School as Kay and Nancy walked up. Even if you had never met anyone from Koala officially, the Aussie hat with the left brim folded upwards was a clear give away.

"Hiya, Darj!" Kay interjected. Darjeeling turned and smiled.

She stood up.

"Hello, Kay." She said as she extended her hand. Kay looked down at the outstretched hand.

"Oh we can do better than that!" Kay said as she brushed Darjeelings hand aside and pulled her into a hug. Darjeeling was shocked at first, but this sort of behavior was expected from the Saunders Captain. Kay let go of Darjeeling.

"Darjeeling, this is Nancy Grant. The Commander of Saunders Airsoft Regiment." Kay said. Nancy extended her hand which Darjeeling took.

"I might be front Saunders, but I know about personal space." She said with a smile.

"Hey!" Kay exclaimed, playing hurt as she put her hands on her hips. Darjeeling chuckled.

"It's very nice to meet you, Ms. Grant. Allow me to introduce The Commander for the Saint Gloriana Airsoft Regiment, Josephine Soto." Darjeeling motioned towards the very pretty girl with a very dark complexion that sat next to her. She stood and took Nancy's hand.

"Ms. Grant, it's nice to meet you again." she said.

"Ah that's right, I forget the Airsoft Regiment commanders probably already know each other." Darjeeling said laughing.

"A.R. doesn't get as much attention as tankery, so no harm done." Nancy said.

Kay now turned to the Koala Commander.

"How ya doing their Wallaby?" Kay Asked the Blonde haired girl who held a sleeping Koala. "I'm glad Commander Koala could make it!" Kay said as she pet the sleeping Koalas head.

"Haha, yeah. He wasn't feeling too good earlier." She said. "I'm doing just fine, Kay. But to be truthful with you, I am kinda hungry." She said.

"Too bad you're not on Food duty!" Kay said winking at Wallaby. "Nancy you know Sub-Commander Wallaby?" Kay said to nancy.

"How could I forget? I'm still craving that Vegemite." Nancy said.

Wallaby chuckled, then turned to the Girl behind her.

"This is Koalas A.R. Commander Sophie Bolton." Sophie was just around Wallabys height, but had short curly brown hair that was put up in a pony tale, and had dark brown eyes.

"Nice to meet ya!" She said, shaking Kay's hand. "Nancy, I still see you're as stoic as ever!" She said.

"Just as you are energetic." Nancy said smiling.

There was a loud Trumpeting coming from the entrance of the Commanders area. Everyone who was already there turned. A Small girl appeared with a taller girl following her.

"PRAVDA HAS ARRIVED!" The little Girl pronounced.

"Looks like Katyusha is here." Kay said. "Who's the girl with her? Doesn't look like Noona or Klara."

"That's Field Marshal Zukov." Josephine said.

"The Soviet General?" Darjeeling asked, confused.

"No," Nancy giggled. "Her real name is Anna Brazenkoff. But in the A.R. Tournaments she's a force to be reckoned with. Very calm and cold. Saunders was destroyed by her my first year. We're the same age but she dramatically rose through the ranks in her first month."

The Girl they spoke of, had long Crimson red hair and very deep blue eyes. Not icy like Klaras, but very deep.

As the excitement of Pravda died down, Kay Darjeeling and Wallaby found themselves on one side of the Table, with the A.R. Commanders on the other.

"So, You think they're adding infantry to this Grand Competition?" Kay asked.

"It would seem so." Darjeeling said.

"Did you get to look over the rules before all of this?" Wallaby asked.

"Yes, but it was very vague." Darjeeling said. "It's almost like they're making it into a real War. Alliances can be made, Tanks can be stolen and sabotage and If your hit, depending on how bad it is, You can be deemed by Medical staff as 'KIA'." Darjeeling finished.

"They're really going all out." Kay said. Wallaby and Darjeeling nodded in agreement.

"I heard this competition is just to see who's the best once and for all. Even though Oorai beat Kuromorimine, it was still very close." Wallaby said. Kay and Darjeeling nodded in agreement. Kay looked up.

"Speak of the devil." Darjeeling and Wallaby turned to see where she was looking. Maho Nishizumi, Overall Commander of the Kuromorimine Tankery Class and ulcer sister of Miho Nishizumi, stood in the entrance hall. Behind her was A girl just around her height with very light blonde hair and hazel eyes which were behind a pair of glasses.

Miho

Miho watched as her sister made her way towards her. She had been very nervous to see her sister. When she had arrived, she noticed that all the seats had been assigned. And Oorai was sitting right next to Kuromorimine. As Maho approached, Miho could see that Emma was visibly nervous.

"That's Eliza Mödel! She's as fierce as your sister!" Emma whispered. Miho watched as Maho led the other girl past the tables towards her. She didn't say anything to anyone. Typical Maho behavior. It wasn't long before she stood next to Miho.

"Miho." She said.

"Sister." Miho said. Maho cracked a smile then hugged her sister, which Miho leaned into. It was nice to receive some sort of emotion from her sister. (Really from anyone in her family)

Maho pulled away. She then motioned to Her companion.

"Miho, this is-"

"Eliza Mödel." Miho said, extending her hand. "We had a few classes together my first year." Eliza took her hand and smiled.

"Yes I remember. Has your math improved?" She asked.

Miho felt her cheeks go warm. Eliza smiled. She turned to the Oorai A.R. Commander.

"Emma. It's good to see you." She said.

Emma, who was shaking horribly, slowly extended her own hand and shook Elizas.

After Miho helped Emma sit, she took her seat next to Maho. The Two A.R. Commanders flanked their Tankery counterparts. Emma was petrified, and Eliza sat in a very dignified manner looking towards the stage.

"How have you been?" Maho asked earnestly.

"I've been doing Alright. How's mom?"

"She's doing ok. She doesn't say it, but I think she misses you."

This caught Miho off guard. A small place in her hearts began to hurt as she looked down at her hands.

"You think so?" Miho asked.

"Yes. I think she's coming around to who you are and are becoming." Maho said as she put a hand on Miho's hand. Miho looked up to meet her sister's eyes. Maho has a small kind smile and her eyes, which were usually sharp and hard, were kind and loving.

"Do you smell that?" Maho asked.

"No?" Miho took a sniff. "Wait, are those…"

"Egg rolls!" They both said at the same time. They both giggled.

There was a loud pounding of a gavel that began to shush people up. The Head of the Federation. Stood.

"Please take your seats everyone. We are ready to begin this meeting."

Commanders took their seats, while other members in the stands slowly became quiet.

After a while, the JGSDF General stood.

"Thank you all of you for coming on such a short notice. It makes us proud to see how enthusiastic you are about your sport." He said. There was a quick applause from the audience that quickly died as he raised his hand.

"Allow me to introduce myself, I am General Hashino, and this is my second, Captain Ami Chōno. Most of you know the Captain." There was another burst of applause. Captain Chōno stood and bowed. General Hashino raised his hand and the crowd died down. He continued.

"As you all know, the Ministry of Education, the Sensha-Do Federation and the JGSDF, have decided to host a grand tournament which includes all Major and Minor High Schools. This tournament will be special however. In the past, most large tournaments were just Tankery, this tournament will include not just Tankery, but will include the Airsoft Regiment as infantry."

Murmurs erupted among the crowd.

From behind Miho, Kay looked at Darjeeling and Wallaby and winked in a 'I-Knew-It' way. Darjeeling rolled her eyes and smiled.

"Furthermore, several schools will be paired up with each other." More murmurs flew across the crowd and now among the Commanders. "I hand it off to the Ministry representative."

He motioned to the woman who now stood wearing a pantsuit.

"To allow everyone a chance to participate equally, several of the smaller schools will be teamed up with the Major school. Those being Maple High and Koala Forrest High School will be teamed up with Saint Glorianas Women's Academy, Maginot Girls Academy with BC Freedom High, and Kiromorimine with Bellwall andOorai."

Yukari

Yukari could not believe her ears.

'Oorai will be paired with… Kuromorimine?!'

She turned her head. Next to her sat Hana Isuzu, Saori Takabe, Mako Rezai and the rest of the Oorai Tankery Club and the Airsoft Regiment. They all had the same look of surprise and shock. A hand was placed on her shoulders. Yukari looked behind her to see Erwin.

"This has to be a joke." She said in disbelief.

Yukari didn't know what to say. There was a loud commotion coming from The other side of the convention hall which pulled all of Oorai away from their shock.

Miho

All the commanders turned their attention to the commotion. A girl with a dark complexion was standing with other students yelling at the Maginot side. They wore their Uniforms in a very lax way. Miho figured they were the recent transfer students.

The Maginot students looked at the BC students confused.

"BC WOULD RATHER DIE!" She yelled at the students.

"Don't hold your breath." One of the Maginot students said.

"WHAT DID YOU SA-"

"YOU DON'T SPEAK FOR BC, YOU TRANSFER STUDENT!" A girl with very blonde hair got up and began yelling at the girl with the darker complexion. Other students began to yell with her.

"Damn you! You Elitist!" The Darker girl said.

"LADIES!" General Hashino yelled into the mic that quickly shut everyone up.

"Commander Marie, Commander Eclair, do you have an issue with your two schools joining forces?" He asked.

Miho looked at a shorter girl (who was just taller than Katyusha) who stood up. Miho was surprised to see a small plate with a piece of cake on it.

"BC has no issues. It'll be fun! like eating this piece of Cake!"

She said smiling.

Another girl on the outer side of the aisle stood. She had very dark blue hair and blue eyes.

"Maginot has no issue." She said.

"Then the matter is Settled."

General Hashino said.

Kay

Kay sat and listened to the rest of the Rules. Which were quite simple. All schools could create Alliances. But what was more cool, was that this wasn't an annihilation match. If three schools allied themselves against three other schools and are the last three Schools standing, then that alliance wins.

Schools could break and join other alliances, and information they had on their old alliances could be shared.

The first day would be used to get organized. Set up command, assign troops to commanders, Claim sections of the field as that Teams own and plan attacks. There would be no fighting that first day.

The tournament would be held on a humongous field with small towns that could be used as a base for operation.

This humongous field also had different weather regions. The North has snow and was very cold, the west was more tropical while the East and south were more grassy fields with trees. There was also a large river that cut down the middle. There was even a dessert. The Judges control the weather so you never knew what you were going to get. What was even more interesting, was that you could build an Atomic bomb, but could only use it once.

As They kept explaining the Tournament, the entire Convention hall was intrigued. But none so more than Kay. She was on the edge of her seat with the widest eyes. Nancy could have sworn she looked like a kid at Christmas.

Captain Chōno stood now.

"A few last key points. you will be given one month to train and get ready. Practice Infantry tactics with Tanks. I suggest all of you do your studying of famous battles where Tanks and Infantry were used. From the second World War, to more recently. Schools that are teaming up must coordinate between each other. The Major School that is teamed up with the Minor school, will be the leader of both schools. Saint Gloriana will be the head of both Its own forces, Maples Forces and Koala High, Magino will be in charge of both BC and Maginot, and Kiromorimine will be in charge of Oorai and Bellwall. The day before the start of the tournament,The Schools that participate will be a part of a grand parade from your School careers to the JSD Convention hall near the Tournament grounds. More information will be granted in the near future. So get your Dress uniforms pressed and ready! Also, there will be one last meal among all the schools the night before you land at the tournament grounds. Commanders will eat with commanders, while everyone else eats and mingles with their future Allies or their future Enemies. Because at the end of the day, we are all friends. You may start creating alliances now and coordinating with them." She finished.

Kay turned to look at Darjeeling, who also turned. Kay mouthed "Allies?"

"Yes." Darjeeling mouthed back.

"Chairman Kodama?" Captain Chōno said towards the JSD head. The large bald man stood.

"I am very excited for all of you! This type of event has only ever happened once before with The first School War. This event will test your Minds, bodies and souls. You will see friends die and see things you've never seen in either of your respected sports. You will deal with Politics and backstabbing. Your tactical minds will be pushed to the uttermost limits. I wish you all the beat of luck, with the Second School War."

Up on the Balcony

Shini Nishizumi sat next to Chiyo Shimada. They had been sitting in the VIP balcony, which overlooked the Convention hall. Shiho was fixated on where her two daughters sat.

"Well, this seems like it will be very fun." Shimada said.

"Fun, is not how I would describe it." Shiho said very coldly.

Chiyo looked at her rival. A playful grin grew across her face.

"Oh, but you must be excited. Even in some small way."

"I don't know what you mean." Shiho said coldly.

'Jeez, she's as cold as ever.' Chiho thought to herself.

"So you're telling me, you're not at all excited about your daughters teaming up with each other? If i had known any better, i'd say you orchestrated the whole thing yourself," She lowered her voice. "Shiporin."

At hearing that old nickname, Shiho snapped her head in Chiyo's direction. The woman sat in her chair with a playful grin.

"You know how much I hate that nickname." Shiho said.

"Oh please, Shiho." She said as she rolled her eyes. "No one else is in here. No one heard me. Have fun a little. We are friends after all."

Chiyo watched Shiho's shoulders relax from their normal tensed state. Shiho sat back into her chair and let out a long sigh.

"Hows Mar-" She started but hsiho cut her off.

"Don't. Don't ask me right now. I don't want to talk about him." Shiho said. Chiyo heard the sadness in her old friend's voice.

"You'll be watching the match, Yes?" Shiho asked.

"Of course. Some of these girls will be entering College. Good time as ever to see the new skill." Chiyo said. Shiho stood and walked to the door.

"Then i'll see you in a month." The coldness returning to her voice. The door shut behind her leaving Chiyo alone. She relaxed into the cushy armchair.

'She's always been so reserved. Even in high school.' She thought to herself. 'But disowning her own daughter?' At that thought she pulled her phone out and dialed the number.

"Hello?" The voice on the other line said.

"Hi, baby." Chiyo said happily.

"Hi mom! Are you coming home soon?"

"No tonight sweetheart. But I will come get you tomorrow morning, Ok? We'll even go to the Punchy museum and spend the rest of the day together." Chiyo said.

"Ok then!" Chiyo could hear the happiness in her daughter's voice.

"I Love you, Alice. Never forget that."

"I love you too." Alice said back.

The phone hung up. And Chiyo sat in silence before leaving the Balcony.

A few hours after...

Miho

Miho sat with her Friends on the bus ride home. No one had said a word since the meeting had concluded. At the end only three schools decided not to join. Those being Waffle, Yogurt and Count, Who didn't have the money.

When it was done, Maho had said she'd be in touch with her about plans, training and other matters. And with a hug, she was gone.

"Miho?" Came a voice. Miho tore herself from her thoughts. She turned to see her friend Yukari Akiyama looking at her worried. Although all her friends cared for her deeply, it had been Yukari that she felt she could lean on more.

"Are you ok?" The tank enthusiasts asked.

"I think I will be. This match won't be like anything we've faced. It'll be even harder then our fight with Selection."

"Don't you worry about anything, Miporin!" Saiori said.

"You can count on us to help with anything." Hana said with a smile.

Saiori nudged Mako who was sleeping on Her shoulder. Mako opens her eyes and weakly gave a thumbs up to Miho.

"But you guys…." Miho started.

"We're in this together!" Yukari said. Miho was truly touched.

"We won't let you down, commander!" Noriko's voice said from in front of where Miho sat. Miho turned to see the whole Tankery club staring at her smiling. Miho smiled. She had been at Oorai for a while now, and yet they never ceased to surprise her. They spent the rest of the ride talking and laughing. And for one more night at least, they were nothing but happy normal school girls.

A/N: Hi guys! This is my first attempt at a fanfic! I absolutely love GuP! And I'm not even that big of an Anime fan. But if you involve Real World War II Tanks, history and stereotypes, I'm in!

This story was inspired by the photo of President FDR, Prime Minister Winston Churchill and The Premier of The Soviet Union Joseph Stalin at the Yalta Conference in early 1945. After reading some amazingly written Fics, I formulated this idea for an Epic War story with the girls of GuP!

In this story you'll probably see many Historical References, ideas from other FanFics that inspired my own and a TON of Miscellaneous references. This three part story will also only look at one side of the Great School War. But I do plan on adding other stories to this grand tournament. If you're confused by that, just bear with me because it will ALL MAKE SENSE IN THE END!

Please leave comments! I wanna hear from the readers! If you think it's crap, tell me why! And tell me what you think I should fix. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this.

I plan on updating regularly. I literally have nothing better to do right now anyways so GUP FANFIC!
