"Jeanette, it's time to get up." Eleanor said, gently shaking her sister.
"No..." Jeanette said with attitude in her voice, pulling the covers over her.
Eleanor noticed the attitude her sisters voice and crossed her arms. "Jeanette, what's with the attitude?" she asked.
Jeanette sighed through her nose, "It's nothing, Ellie."
Eleanor rolled her eyes, "Well, hurry up and get dressed, Miss Miller and Eleanor already made breakfast."
Jeanette watched Eleanor leave the room and one she was out of sight, Jeanette got out of bed and went to the bathroom to get ready.
"Oh, Jeanette, dear, your looking more chipper now!" Miss Miller said, Eleanor and Brittany nodded in approval.
With the help of a long, warm shower, and now in fresh clothes, Jeanette was now looking more relaxed. Jeanette took a bite of her french toast.
"Jeanette, dear, Eleanor told me about the unexpected attitude you had when she tried to get you out of bed." Miss Miller said concerned. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine."Jeanette mumbled.
Eleanor furrowed her brow in thought. What's wrong with Jeanette? She hasn't acted this way before.
"Jeanette, are you sure you're okay?" Miss Miller asked. "You can always stay home from school, dear."
Jeanette slammed her fist on the table, "I said I'm fine, Miss Miller. Can't you understand that? Oh, that's right, you can't."
"Jeanette!" Brittany and Eleanor said in unison.
Jeanette suddenly got up from the table and grabbed her bag, she headed towards the front door and opened it, "I'm walking to school." With that she walked out, slamming the door on her way out, startling Brittany, Eleanor and Miss Miller. Jeanette did door- slams a lot lately... something was definitely wrong.
Something is definitely wrong, Eleanor thought as she rested her chin on her palm.
"Miss Miller, are... you okay?" Brittany asked, resting a hand on the old women's hand.
"I'm fine, dear." Miss Miller said, trying to hide the sadness in her voice but Brittany knew Miss Miller was on the verge of tears.
Jeanette walked down the street with tears in her eyes, Why did I say those awful things to Miss Miller? She'll never forgive me. I'll never forgive myself... Jeanette thought.
Jeanette was so in thought, she didn't know that she bumped into someone, "S-sorry!"
When the person turned around, Jeanette could hardly believe her eyes. Standing in front of her was the most beautiful - no the most gorgeous thing she had ever seen. Her blonde hair shown with elegance as golden as the first rays of the sun, her outfit that consisted of red and pink gave her a distinctive look of her own, and her eyes - it was her blue eyes that sparkled like sapphire's.
"Hi, my name is Charlene." She said, extending a hand for Jeanette, who gripped it nervously in a friendly handshake.
Charlene, her name is Charlene... such a pretty name. Jeanette thought as she smiled.
"Charlene... that's a pretty name." Jeanette said quietly.
Charlene smiled warmly, "What's your name?" she asked.
"I'm... J-jeanette..." Jeanette said shyly.
"Jeanette. I always loved that name." Charlene said. "But for you, it fits you perfectly."
"It does?" Jeanette asked.
Charlene nodded, "Wanna walk to school with me Jeanette?" she asked.
She wants to walk with me, eeeeh! Jeanette thought happily.
"I... would love to." Jeanette responded.
Charlene and Jeanette now walked down the street together, talking up a storm.
"So what school do you go to?" Charlene asked.
"West Eastman High." Jeanette answered. "Along with my sisters, and our friends Alvin, Theodore and... and..." Jeanette suddenly broke down and started to cry.
"Jeanette!" Charlene went to comfort her newfound friend, "A-are you alright, which-what's wrong?" she asked with worry.
"No..." Jeanette croaked. "I'm not... Simon he... he broke up with me!" Jeanette cried in Charlene's shirt.
Charlene wrapped her arms around Jeanette and pulled her into a gently hug, "I gotcha, girl. It's alright. Charlene's here." she cooed softly.
Charlene looked Jeanette in the eye, Jean, how could that jerk break up with you? Your nice, cool and really pretty!"
"You... you've only known me for like a minute." sniffed Jeanette.
"I know, but what I do know is that I hate it when I see my friends get hurt or upset." Charlene said. "Jeanette, look at me."
Jeanette looked at Charlene still with tears in her eyes.
"I promise you, that I will never ever break your heart nor make you upset. I'll protect you." Charlene said sternly. "But when I see Simon, I'll make sure he gets an earful from me."
"Jeanette took off her glasses and whipped away her tears, "Thank you." she smiled. She was about to put back on her glasses but Charlene stopped her
"Your welcome... you have beautiful eyes." Charlene said staring deeply into Jeanette's. teal eyes. "Very beautiful indeed."
"You...too..." Jeanette said staring into Charlene's blue eyes.
The two girls both leaned in at the same time, their lips were almost close to touching but their moment got interrupted by a familiar voice Jeanette knew too well.
"Hey, Jeanette!" Both girls quickly got up and saw a boy the same age as them walking towards them.
"Hey... Simon..." Jeanette said.
"Jeanette, who's this?" Simon asked eyeing Charlene intensely.
"Oh, this Charlene... my friend." Jeanette said, smiling at Charlene.
"Even though we just met, we really hit it off." Charlene said, smiling back at Jeanette.
"Theodore, Alvin and your sisters are already at school, Jeanette why don't you walk with me?" Simon offered to the purple-clad chipette. "Plus, we have things to discuss?" Jeanette gulped, knowing what Simon meant by wanting to discuss.
So this is Simon, huh? Well he's so in for it, Charlene thought.
Jeanette was about to speak but Charlene interrupted her.
"Simon, is it?" Charlene said glaring at Simon. "Jeanette is not going anywhere with you, so beat it or else I'll beat ya into a pulp."
Simon was about to attack her, but then he remembered, he couldn't hurt a girl. He sighed through his nose, "Fine." he said. "I'll go. For now."
"Thank you, now if you excuse us, we must be going." Charlene said, grabbing Jeanette's hand and walking past Simon.
Charlene glared at Simon who glared back at her.
"Charlene..." Simon growled.
Once they got to West Eastman High, Jeanette looked at Charlene.
"Thank you." She said quietly. "But you didn't have to do that, I could've handled it."
"What did I say before? Jeanette, I'll protect you and I mean that, understand?"
Jeanette nodded in understanding, "Yes."
"Good. Now I'll be right here holding your hand, okay."
Charlene held out her hand, which Jeanette nervously took. Jeanette felt butterflies in her stomach, she never felt this attractive to a girl before, especially Charlene, she had just met this girl fifteen minutes ago, they almost kissed too. Was this true love at first sight? Jeanette wasn't sure.
"Ready to go in, Jean?" Charlene asked.
"Yeah." Jeanette responded.
Charlene and Jeanette walked hand-in hand into the school and to their lockers.
"I can't believe our lockers are right next to each other." Charlene said.
"Yeah." Jeanette said, she looked at her schedule. "We even have the three classes together too without my sisters or Alvin, Simon, and Theodore."
Charlene hugged Jeanette, "Isn't that great?" she said completely overjoyed.
Jeanette, who was blushing madly, smiled nervously, "Y-yeah! N-nice!"
Charlene suddenly let go of Jeanette, "A-am I hurting you?" Charlene asked, her anxiety now coming in. "I-i knew that I sh-shouldn't have d-done that..." Charlene rambled on.
Jeanette took Charlene's hand, "Don't worry, Char. It's okay, i... enjoyed the hug."
"You d-did?" Charlene asked nervously.
"Uh huh." Jeanette nodded.
"Hey, lovebirds!" An unfamiliar voice called to the girls.
Charlene and Jeanette quickly looked around until they saw a older boy walk towards them.
"What do you Stan." Charlene asked sternly.
"Oh, nothing much, just watching the two freaks over here." Stan said, grinning smugly.
"C-can you leave us alone, please?" Jeanette asked kindly.
Stan pushed Jeanette to the ground, she started to cry.
Charlene looked at Jeanette then back at Stan, "You better leave if you know what's good for you." she growled.
"Oh, what's a pint-sized girl like you gonna do?" he mocked, and laughed but his laughing was cut short when Charlene punched him in the mouth, some of his teeth fell out.
Charlene angrily glared at Stan, "That's for making Jeanette cry. If you come near her again, I'll do worse then that." she said darkly.
Not wanting to face her wrath, Stan ran away.
"And goodbye!" Charlene said before helping Jeanette up, "You okay, Jean?"
"Yes, I'm okay." Jeanette said.
Charlene smiled, "Good." She said. "I couldn't live with myself if anything happened to you."
Jeanette hugged Charlene which Charlene returned.
Jeanette then knew that this WAS true love at first sight, Jeanette was now thinking that meeting Charlene was fate.
Charlene is my true love, but does she feel the same? Jeanette thought.
Jeanette released Charlene from the hug, "Come on, we have history first."
Jeanette and Charlene walked down the hallway towards history class.
This is going to a fun day, Jeanette and Charlene both thought.
