Arc 1, Prologue

Konohagakure (The Hidden Leaf Village)

October 10th

Obito Uchiha has known what he was supposed to become for several years now. And today he was going to officially announce what he was to not only himself, but his former home and former allies. He was only fourteen, but he knew that It was finally time to cut his bonds with the Leaf.

The sky was empty, not a single star to shine its light down upon his cloaked and masked form, besides the gloomy moon isolated within the darkness of the night. The one-eyed Uchiha sat patiently on top of the roof of a medium-sized building that was built directly into the side of a mountain. Next to him were the motionless bodies of numerous Leaf Anbu, all of which were dead.

"There's no going back after this right, Zetsu? If I do this, then that means Project Tsukinomi has started right?" Obito's voice was rough, no longer identifiable to that of his previous self.

Out of the corpse of one of the many fallen Anbu, emerged a humanoid being with the flaps of a Venus flytrap framing it's black and white head. The strange being known only to Obito as Zetsu merely stared until half of its face broke into a cheery grin, and the other continued staring stoically. "Yes, Obito-kun, our master's grand plan will begin as soon as you go in there and play with the Hokage! Go get your revenge, Obi-"

"Quiet, you idiot. He is to be addressed as Lord Madara Uchiha from now on, Obito Uchiha is dead..." The black half snapped at its other self before gracing Obito or Madara Uchiha with a tense frown. "Yes, Project Tsukinomi will begin as soon as you rip the beast from its current host and ravage the Leaf with it."

Where the white half's voice was childish and high pitched. The black half's was menacing, deep, and oozing of high intelligence. It was easy to understand how it was his master's will. But, the white half… Not so much.

Obito watched with an unfazed eye as the white side of Zetsu casually ripped the arm from the socket of a corpse and stuffed it into its drooling mouth.

It wouldn't have been so bad, had the side of Zetsu he tolerates more didn't squint its mustard yellow eye in glee and pleasure.

"Y-Yeah... so, all you need to do, Madara-sama is take the Kyubi, kill it's Jinchuriki then rave the village to the ground. You don't care about the village anymore, do you?" White Zetsu greedily swallowed a portion of the arm and licked its side of the shared face while it spoke to Obito.

Obito didn't answer the creature's stupid question; of course, he didn't care for the Leaf.

Instead, he stood and looked up at the lonesome moon in the sky and adjusted his mask once he heard the echoes of crying. A newborn's sobs of freedom. It was go time, he'd face the final obstacle in his way to severing his bonds and then head out to Ame (The Hidden Rain Village) to begin searching for suitable members for the Akatsuki with Nagato and Konan.

*Boom*

A surge of chakra, the strongest he's ever felt before suddenly blasted from the east, raising every hair on his body, and flooding his heart with pure terror and awe at the magnificent yet dreadful chakra. It was only when he sensed the chakra networks of approaching shinobi that he snapped out of his daze and activated his Kamui to slip through the roof of the building and a portion of the mountain right on top of Biwako Sarutobi and the frightened baby in her arms.

Nothing would get in his way, neither Minato, nor the odd event that just occurred. He could investigate that later with Zetsu, this though. Had to be dealt with now while the seal was weakened.

The sound of Biwako's body hitting the ground gathered the attention of the panicked Minato and pained Kushina. And much to their horror, their infant child was in the arms of a masked intruder standing over the former Hokage's wife's dead body.

"W-Who are you!? What do you want!? Are you responsible for that shock wave earlier!? Did… Is the Leaf destroyed!?" Minato fired off questions in quick succession. Clearly, the devasting combination of his child being held hostage and a deadly wave of chakra strong enough to wipe out a small country, sent fear into the young Hokage.

Finding the sight of his great and all-powerful sensei shaking in apprehension hilarious Obito said. "Ha-ha-ha. No, the Leaf isn't destroyed. Yet. But more importantly, Minato Namikaze. Step away from the Jinchuriki, or else I'll end this child's life in less than a minute."

This was it. There was no going back now. There was no back without Rin anyways, just Kakashi; her murderer, and Minato; her failure of a teacher. Obito Uchiha knew precisely what he was. Madara Uchiha, the ghost of the Uchiha clan.

Land of Fire (Fire Capital)

Hidden by the shadows of the night Hiromi; a bruised young man limped forward and ripped the damp and visibly molded sheets off a beached boat. Contrary to the sheets that covered it, the boat was in prestige condition; its wood was smooth, and the two oars tucked securely inside of it were decorated by fine carvings.

Silently nodding to himself as he appreciated the condition the boat was in; he lowered a small bundle inside and swiftly got behind the boat to push it into the water. After a minute of struggling mostly due to his small stature and bleeding leg, he got the boat in the calm water.

Fumbling into the boat he cringed and bit his lip when his newborn son, Ken shifted in the bundle of blankets he was wrapped in. Once his son stopped his movement and settled back down Hiromi sighed in relief and used the oars to slowly row away.

He had no clue as to where he was going, but anywhere was better than the Land of Fire's capital, and home of Fire Daimyo Kenji Shijimi and his wife Kikiyo Shijimi, formerly Senju.

"Goodbye princess Kyomi."

*Boom*

Jiraiya threw the topless woman who was generously offering her services for his beloved research on his bed behind him and shielded her body from the powerful wave of chakra that had just soared towards and then through him. "W-What… was that?" He mumbled under his breath and lowered his extended arms to his side.

"L-Lord… Ji-Jiraiya-sama! What just happened! That felt… Amazing!?" The topless woman rolled onto her stomach in excitement and hugged his giant imposing back. "Do it again! Please, I'll let you do more than use my body as research material! Just do it again!"

Jiraiya ignored the advances of the thirsty woman nibbling and grinding her body against his own. That wasn't some cheap party trick he could do. No, he doubted anyone, even his sensei could perform such a feat. The amount of chakra within that attack? Was simply unfathomable.

Also, where did she get this sudden excitement from, surely it wasn't that monstrous attack? He was terrified by the wave of endless chakra, not excited or filled with pleasure.

"It must be because she's not as chakra sensitive as us, Jiraiya-boy. To her, it was probably just energy being poured inside of her." Fukasaku appeared in a cloud of smoke and offered his opinion.

"F-Fukasaku-sama? What was that just now? How am I still al-alive?" Jiraiya lifted his hands and stared at them in shock.

"It seems that chakra was more spiritual in nature rather than physical like most jutsu. But I have grave news, Jiraiya-boy." Fukasaku hopped on top of a nearby desk and casually picked up a book that was mostly empty sans a few words here and there. "This is a fairly good scene, boy. I take it you're taking inspiration from the beauty right there?"

"Fukasaku-sama! Okay, fine, it was just a wave of harmless spiritual chakra, but what is this important bit of news?" Jiraiya gently pried the woman off him and walked over to the desk where the great sage was seated.

Fukasaku flipped through a few more pages of the book and then placed it down with a glare. This wasn't going be easy for him to say, considering how much time and effort Jiraiya has spent searching for it. "The prophecy has changed," Fukasaku whispered quickly.

Jiraiya swallowed hard and widened his eyes in shock. "…What do you mean it's changed!?"

"I mean it's been rewritten Jiraiya-boy. This has never happened before, nor should it have." Fukasaku rubbed the top of his small frog head with his webbed hand and continued. "We're going Jiraiya-boy. We're going to go pay Gamamaru a visit and get to the bottom of this, okay?"

Jiraiya nodded gravely and turned around to the blushing and semi-nude woman smiling at him and pulled out a fist full of cash and forced it into her hands. After paying the woman more than the specified amount, he burned the image of her literally begging for sex into his head and then nodded to the elder toad. "Let's go."

Waves slammed against the side of a small boat and nearly pushed its two occupants over into the deep and unforgiving ocean. Hiromi rowed against the strong and ferocious waves that he had somehow gotten lost inside. His now day-year-old son had quieted down about four, maybe five hours ago, hopefully, due to exhaustion, not death.

When another wave more massive than the last slammed against the boat and sent his oar flying out into the sea, Hiromi bit his bottom lip until blood began dripping from it. His tears were hidden by the cold rain oozing down on him and his son, but his expression of absolute anguish was still visible.

"We're done for Ken. We were almost there; I could feel it! But I failed son. I don't know where to GO!" Hiromi gripped the other oar tightly and hugged his son close to his face.

"Bah!"

Hiromi widened his eyes at hearing his son's babbling and couldn't force down the tear-filled smile that rose on his face. The sound was like music to his ears.

"Baaah!"

"Okay, okay, Ken-chan. Daddy won't give up yet!" Fueled with determination to hear his son again, Hiromi gripped the oar tighter than earlier and glared out at the dark and violent water surrounding them. "Where to, though…"

"Wahh!" Fastened in Hiromi's lap, Ken pointed south with his piercing violet eyes staring at his father keenly.

"This boy is…" Hiromi stared into the eyes of his son before nodding and turning the boat to face the direction of Ken's tiny chubby finger. "I'm trusting you, son!" Hiromi yelled loudly.
