Zane and Pixal walked through the Borg Greenhouse, Zane spitting out information about the plants they pass by. Zane didn't notice Pixal's green eyes looking down at her feet as he spoke. Zane started to talk about another plant, but Pixal stepped in front of him, stopping him from walking any further and getting him quiet.

"Is something wrong, Pixal?" Zane asked innocently. Pixal seemed to fumble with her words. Zane stood in place, waiting for her to find her words.

"Zane... I think- maybe- We-" Pixal continued to mess up her words, and Zane could see beads of sweat trickling down her forehead. How they were able to sweat, Zane had no idea, but she had half of his heart, and that was what made Zane as human as possible, so maybe it was that? Pixal continued to fumble with her words as Zane stood still, patiently.

"Pixal, if you need more time, It's okay. I'll wait for you," Zane said with a warm smile. Pixal stopped talking and looked Zane in his eyes. His light blue, glowing, innocent eyes.

"I need to do something," Pixal said quickly. Zane had no idea what she had to do; she said she was on break. That's why they were here.

"I can come with you if you'd like," Zane said, politely. Pixal shook her head.

"'Here in the greenhouse, let's play a game. Don't worry; I'll show you how it's done.' She told me. 'Here in the greenhouse, stand very still.' 'This'll be so much fun', I agreed." Cole listened as Zane talked about what he remembered.

"It's fine. Um, let's play a game while I'm gone. Stand here, in this spot, and wait for me. Sounds fun?" Zane didn't hesitate to nod his head while holding his hands behind his back and bouncing on his toes. Like a child.

"And then she smiled. That's what I was after, the smile in her eyes, and the sound of her laughter. I was always happy to listen and happy to stay. I never knew I was watching her drift away." Zane smiled, but his smile faded at his last sentence.

Pixal smiled and walked back to the entrance of the Greenhouse, showing a quick smile and closing the door behind her.

"I happily waited for her all on my own, under the endless sky. Doing nothing, but counting the seconds, standing all alone, not knowing how much time went by."

Zane lost track of time, and the only thing that kept him occupied was watching the stars and sun pass through the glass ceiling. Pixal wasn't back yet. How long has it been? His eternal clock wasn't working, and he didn't have a phone. (He was a Nindroid; he didn't need one.)

"I was constantly wondering, night after night. Is this how it works? Am I doing it right? I was happy to listen and happy to stay. Unknowingly watching her drift away."

Was he being punished? Did he do something wrong? Did he break the rules? Zane shook his head at his silly thoughts. Pixal will come back. She promised. They're compatible.

Zane continued to stand in his place, with his hands behind his back and a smile on his face.

"It's funny. People would do anything to show they care about others who don't care about them."

Zane stood patiently in the same place he had been: In the middle of the greenhouse, which slowly died around him. He had quickly gotten into a routine as he waited for Pixal to return. Wait, look at the sky, wait, water the plants (by creating a thin sheet of ice above everything and let the sun melt the ice), wait, watch the sky until morning, wait, and repeat. Hopefully, Pixal would appreciate him for watering the plants.

Zane continued to stand still in his spot, his hands behind his back and a smile on his face.

"Yet still, it took me ages to see that no one was there. See that n-no one was th-there.. S-see th-that no o-one's there.. Then everyone went on without me." Cole could see tears forming in Zane's eyes as he repeated the sentence that seemed to burn his heart, but he had to know more before stepping in.

Vines was starting to wrap around Zane's legs, and his hair was starting to become messy from the humidity and ice-cold water. He was tired with dark circles under his eyes, and somehow, his clothes were getting looser. His straight posture was starting to dissolve into a slouch, but he ignored it.

He had to sleep, move, or eat something, but he was a Nindroid; he didn't need to. Pixal will be back soon anyways.

Zane stood there, slowly swaying side to side with a weak smile on his face.

The stars lit up the night sky, but the wilting trees that surrounded him have grown big enough to cover half of the ceiling to almost hide the stars. Zane almost looked unrecognizable. His hair wasn't in his neat slick back haircut anymore, but instead, it was tangled and messy. His light blue eyes were more dull and empty. The vines have grown wrapped around his legs and waist.

Pixal promised. She said she would come back. He said he would wait, and he is.

So why isn't she back yet?

"Then, finally, something. Finally, news about how my story ends."

A bright light flickered from behind Zane, and the sprinklers came on, spraying Zane and the wilted plants. Strange, they haven't worked until now. Zane slightly looked behind him, and his heart dropped. On a television screen, Lloyd, Kai, Jay, Cole, and Nya were all standing in front of the city bank, three robbers all tied together beside them. A TV announcer said their names and elements as they waved to the crowd one by one. Everyone looked so happy. Did no one realized that the Master of Ice is-

"I didn't exist anymore, just replaced by someone similar with all of her brand new friends."

"And lastly, Pixal! The Master of Ice!" Zane watched in disbelief as the camera paned over to Pixal, who waved to the crowd with a big smile on her face. The other ninja embraced her in a hug, and Zane turned his whole body around, breaking the vines wrapped around him.

Pixal wasn't- no. She said she would come back.

Did she?

She- She did. She was just-

What can you say that will make her seem like she didn't abandon you?

She was going to come back! She was just-... She was-

There's nothing you can say to forget what you just found out.

"Isn't that lovely, isn't that cool? No, it's just cruel. Well, I'm such a fool to have-" Zane suddenly stopped speaking to let himself breathe. He was trying desperately not to cry yet.

As Zane fought with the thoughts in his head, he didn't realize he was stumbling to the television that showed his friends- no, his brothers forgetting about him and replacing him so quickly. Zane unknowingly formed a Morning Star made out of pure, thick, ice in his hand as he stumbled to the painful knowledge he just received.

Just face the fact, Zane.

No.

She-

No! She promised me she would come back!

Left-

She promised!

You-

NO! SHE DIDN'T!

A̴̢̧͕̲͚͊L̷̪̓ͅO̵͉̒̊N̵̹̮̦̺͆̋̚E̴͙̒̅̕͝!̷̡̻̫̀̾

Zane couldn't take it. With an outraged scream, Zane took the morning star and rammed it into the TV, cracking the screen and the wiring inside. The TV fell off of the wall, and Zane stood above it, continuing to hit the TV with the morning star, an angered scream clashing with the sounds of crushing technology. Ignoring the warm tears that rushed down his face as he did so.

She left him and lied about coming back, and on top of that, she replaced him. What kind of sick and twisted logic was that? Zane slowly lost energy, and the TV flickered and glitched. Glass was scattered around, circuits and wires hung out of the TV underneath him. He could catch a glimpse at the time and date in the corner of the screen.

Zane had stayed in the greenhouse for ten years.

"Happily listened, and happily stayed." Zane said, finding his voice again.

How? It seemed like a few days or a week. Did his brothers forget about him? Why would they forget about him? Why would Pixal replace him? Last time Zane left, they didn't have the heart to replace him, so why now?

"Foolishly watching her drift-" Zane cut himself off, letting himself take more breaths.

Warm tears continued to run down Zane's face as he held his head, running his cold fingers through his wet and messy hair. He could feel his heart literally crack inside his chest. Zane didn't like this feeling.

"Drift-" Zane sounded more angry as he repeated the word, more to himself then to Cole. The earth ninja stepped back a bit as he saw Zane's body glitch back to the white shirt and leggings decorated with black and light blue glitch patterns. His upper right arm plate, left lower knee plate, left forearm plate and faceplate faded away from his body, and his skin and hair faded to a more pale color, with his hair going back to the pure white undercut. The last piece of Zane's power source faded into place, with the cracks still slightly visible.

The Morning Star melted out of his hand as Zane took a few breaths. That's it. No more. No one was allowed to treat him like that ever again. He stumbled to the greenhouse door and opened it, ignoring the aching feeling in his heart and the ominous glitches around him.

"Drift... away."
