Heads up, Goku will be in his teen years (16-18) which means he'll be stronger than his canon counterpart and have a bunch of techniques the original Goku don't really have until Z. Also, Goku might be...a bit OoC considering he was raised by a different person but I'll try to make him stay in character as best as I can.
Chapter 1:
"The Son and the Father"
A figure can be seen running through the ground, dashing into forests and jumped from mountain to mountain in the wake of the night. The dark sky was illuminated by the bright full moon, bringing forth the color of darkened blue while the stars are shining brilliantly in the sky but the illumination provided was not enough to completely reveal the surface. Then, a figure passed over the moon in the sky as its figure was shadowed, showing the most noticeable feature being their spiky, palm-like hair. The figure dashed down towards another figure, eyes narrowed to form a serious frown as it never leaves its targets.
"Found you!" The figure, Son Goku, exclaimed with his fist raised. "Take this!"
"Bring it!" The other figure being Mark Braves crossed his arm to form a shield.
Goku's fist impacted on Mark's crossed arm, shattering the ground below and sent him flying through the air still in the same defense position. He quickly regained and position his body horizontally, landing on a steep hill of a mountain as he uses it as a springboard to dash towards Goku. Goku quickly readied himself in a stance as Mark sent in barrages of fast punches with choreography of a martial art he learnt. Goku responded by blocking some of the incoming fists and evaded most of it to preserve his stamina.
Once he sees a chance, Goku stopped all of his attack with a swift roundhouse kick which caught Mark by surprise and sent him crashing into a mountain. Mark winced as a sharp pain shot through his abdomen, chuckling at Goku's ridiculous strength despite his smaller stature before taking himself out from sticking inside the mountain. Kicking his feet, Mark dashed in order to surprise Goku in the moment of his guard being down only to be surprise at Goku's grinning face as he also dashes towards Mark.
They locked their hands together, Goku's momentum overpowers Mark's so they were sent soaring through the air of the direction where Goku dashed into. They crashed pass through boulders and trees but none of it had any effect on them before they latched off. Mark flips and sent an overhead kick to which Goku managed to block without trouble, retaliating with a kick to the side. Mark was able to block it and sent a straight. Goku shield it with his elbow and had a comeback with a swing. This was blocked again and the same happens but with different styles until hyper-speed punches were exchanged between them.
Mark felt his hands numbing in pain, 'Damn, he hits hard.'
Mark found an opening and uses both of his feet to dropkick Goku as hard as he can, "Hurrrahhhh!"
The kick caught Goku off guard and propelled him into the ground, creating a large crater. Goku quickly lifted his head up and saw Mark heading towards Goku with his feet. It landed square on Goku's belly area causing a large shockwave which in turn deepened the crater as dust covered it.
Mark flips back, landing on the ground and dropped into a stance, smirking. "Come on, son. Show me the results of your training!" When the dust died down, Goku was nowhere to be seen, causing Mark's eyes to widen. "Afterimage!?"
Goku reappeared beside him and before he could even react, Goku sent a one-inch punch on his exposed side and before he knew it, he was stuck on a tree, seeing holes through the mountain before an unbearable pain erupted as he choke for breath.
'What just happened?' He asked himself, pulling his body out as he fell on the ground, holding his side with one eye closed and face wincing in pain. 'That strike is too strong, too strong for me to take.' Unconsciously, Mark chuckled. 'Son of the Gods, of course.'
"Tou-chan!" Goku called as he dropped down on the ground and ran after Mark. He held his father by his head with a worried expression, "Are you alright?"
"Hahaha..." Mark laughed for a bit and sighed, "Never been better, son."
Mark slowly stood up, trembling as he did while Goku was preparing to support him in case he fell down. However, Mark manage to stand up while holding on the side where Goku uses his one-inch punch, Goku reverse back into his standing position. He felt a few ribs broken and some internal bruise but it was nothing a magical bean can't heal.
"Maybe I'm getting too old for this." Mark wondered with a smile, "But well, I'm glad I can train with you my son."
Goku beamed a grin, "Of course, Tou-chan! You're the strongest after all!"
'I was, but you took that title from me.' Mark thought, proud at the accomplishment Goku had made in these past few years. 'He only trained for a few years and yet, he surpassed me in every category. Strength, speed, agility, dexterity, skills, everything.' He closed his eyes before a smirk crept onto his face, 'But maybe, you aren't prepared for this...!'
He uses his hand and tried to stoke Goku onto his exposed side only to be surprised when Goku caught it with the smile he usually worn. "I won't fall for the same trick twice. You said it a few months back, I shouldn't let my guard down ever."
Mark let out a sigh and softly smiled, "Yeah, you never did let your guard down when we fought right?"
Goku chuckles, smiling as he always is. "Yep! It's thanks to you, Tou-chan!"
Mark laughed, 'A prodigy and a battle genius, really. He truly is the Son of the Gods.' He looks at Goku, the developed muscles around his body and the power he wielded. 'Perhaps I should go all out next time...should I?'
Mark took a step forward but stumbled down and Goku quickly caught him as he grimaced in pain, "Yeah I think I need a bit of help getting back to home." Goku nodded and supported him with his arm over his shoulder and neck, "Well, another day for me, huh?"
"And another day for me!" Goku added in.
On the way back home, the father and the son laughed as they enjoyed each other's company...
Mark ate the magical beans called Senzu that was found by Goku during his recon scouting around the area for any Danger Beasts. Suffice to say, Mark was marveled at the beans' capability; being able to heal any injuries except for illnesses. It was a healing bean that could prove useful in any battles, it could save one's self in a tough predicament.
Currently, Goku was out to pick some firewood and Mark stayed in the small hut that is their home. As he healed from the injuries he received during their bout, his eyes trailed over to the drawer. He sighed quietly and pull it, revealing the painting of him and his wife that he had hid from Goku in order to not relive any trauma or bad memory.
He grabbed the painting and run his finger across the surface, specifically the face of his deceased wife with a smile. "How are you doing out there, somewhere in the astral realms Serah?" He rubs on his deceased wife's cheek as if he was actually caressing her cheeks, "I'm fine as you can see, I never thought your request would bring me an actual redemption." Mark chuckled, the face of his smiling wife had always eased him. "I have someone to call a son, which means he's your son as well. His name? It's Son Goku, I know. I was never really creative when it comes to names but hey, it suited him just fine."
Then his mind went on during when Goku still has his tail and what happened on the night of a full moon just like today, the devastation the Devil live within him had caused. It wasn't a normal thing, not even any Imperial Arms could reach to the level of destruction the Devil has, it was a power belonged to Goku only and it is for him to wield it. How powerful he could become, only time will tell. For now, they'll enjoy the time they have left before Goku eventually set out to save the capital and serve justice to those who are deserving.
"But our son isn't just any normal person, he's the Son of the Gods and now you know where I got his name." He shakes his head, "At first, Goku is very violent–often kicking me and rejected any means of taking care of him but that resulted in hitting his head when he fell down from the mountain, a result of my carelessness and his ungratefulness." Mark had an unsure face on, showing his confusion. "I don't know if I should be glad about it because after he hit his head, Goku changed for the better. Even now he was still the same naïve, innocent and carefree child I've been taking care of." He sighed and shook his head, "What's more is that he already had grown stronger than me in a short amount of time, he really is the Son of the Gods and I can't be more proud." He raises his eyebrows and widen his smile, "Are you? Heh, as of now, I'm thinking my life had gone for the better just as you expected it, Serah. I hope you're doing great out there, watching us."
He kept staring at her face, her calming smile, her gentle eyes, her soft expression...it reached to the point of him spacing out, reminiscing the time he spent with her. The day they met and the day he proposed to her, Mark stared at the painting for nearly half an hour before Goku opened the door, surprised to see his father with something on his hand.
"Tou-chan?" Goku called and Mark snapped off from his thoughts, attempting to hide the painting from him.
"S-Son," Mark force out a smile, "Did you get the firewood I asked for?"
Goku nodded, "Yeah, it's outside." Then he looks at Mark's hand which did no good job at hiding the painting, "Tou-chan, what's that?" Before Mark could answer, Goku cuts in short. "You always were staring at it even back then."
Mark's eyes widen before retracting back to its normal size, "So you know..." He let out a sigh and revealed the painting, giving it to Goku. "Here."
Goku took it and stared at the painting, seeing his father and someone he doesn't know. "Who's this beside you, Tou-chan?"
Mark smiled, "That, my son, would be my wife and your supposed mother."
Goku blinked in surprise, not at the revelation but at the newfound terms. "What's a wife and a mother?"
Mark stared wide-eyed at his son before chuckling, "Right, all this time I've only been educating you through our training and not like this." He sighed and shook his head, realizing his mistake. "A wife is a woman a man married and mother is a female parent."
Goku nodded, "So what's a woman?"
Mark let out another sigh, shaking his head. "Of course." He looks at Goku, "Woman is the counterpart of man, they are the other gender aside male and the ones we men bond with to create a family."
"Oh..." Goku nodded.
Finally, Mark was relief and continued on with his story. "Long ago before you were born, you had a mother. She was someone I really loved and cherish with all my heart just like I did with you." Then sadness envelops his face, "But circumstances happened and your mother died, leaving me alone with her last wish; live far away from the place we were born in and find redemption." But that all disappeared and he smiled, "So I met you, in these mountains. Remember what I told you a few months back?"
"That you're not my real father?" Goku asked and Mark nodded.
"Yes. I found you as you fall from the sky, from the Gods above." Goku's eyes widened, "You aren't from this world, son but don't let that discourage you." Mark went and grabbed both of his shoulders in reassurance, "No matter what, you're always be my son."
Goku smiled and nodded, "And you're always be my father."
Mark was very happy to hear that and his expression softens even more, "I'm sorry that I haven't been a good father, Goku. I wish I was more capable and educate you not only in the ways of fight."
Goku shook his head, "Nah, you're a good father Tou-chan. Also, I only like fighting!" As childish as Goku always was and will always be, he moves back forcing Mark to let go of his hand, punching and kicking the air to show his excitement. "I don't think there's anything else I really like though...except for food."
"Hehehe...hahahahaha!" Mark laughed loudly, patting his son's back proudly. "You be you, son. You're okay with who you are."
"You too, Tou-chan." Mark nodded, smiling.
"Then let's have some good sleep."
He went back and sat on his bed, sighing in relief since the revelation was out of way. It feels like thousand burdens was off from his chest and he felt very refreshed. He looks at Goku as he sat down on the opposite side, on the other bed comfortably.
Goku stared at Mark in the eye, Mark quickly sense that some big question is going to ask. "But why does Kaa-chan wants you to live far away? Did something happened to there?"
Mark's heart sank, of course he was going to ask that. But if Mark was going to answer it, it would undoubtedly go to where it would and he wasn't ready for that. However, seeing Goku staring him in the eyes meant that Goku was serious, that this subject was something he's interested in to know. Perhaps his destiny is going to be a reality sooner than he thought.
"Son..." Goku raises his eyebrows at Mark's hesitation, finding it to be strange. "I-I..."
"Tou-chan?" Goku pushed on and Mark visibly flinched.
Gulping, he took a sharp inhale and then his face morph into seriousness. "You see...the place we used to live was in the Empire, in the Imperial Capital." Mark began and Goku quickly realized how serious this was and listen attentively. "I was an ignorant child back then, trained outside of the capital and wanted to enter the army to make money for my village." He remembered the naïve personality he had, the same one as Goku's. "Of course, as someone who had been training since childhood, I've managed to enter the army and raised my ranks as a captain and then a general. I was one of the powerful generals that has ever graced the nation."
He remembered the time he served as a soldier, as a captain then as a general. While he was ignorant, that changed the moment he entered the Imperials where he witness the cruelty of the nobles in the capital. He was disgusted, utterly revolted by that discovery and yet, he sat on the sidelines witnessing people dying, losing their families, selling their bodies, enslaved and suffered. Mark didn't do anything, he just kept following the orders and eventually ended up being a general known for his flawlessness in carrying out orders and finishing assignments.
"One day, however, I met your mother during my visit to a certain village and...fell for her." Mark smiled fondly but that soon faded, "Before all of this, even just as I entered the Imperials, I knew the corruption behind these people. What they did and what they will do, the twisted sick hobbies that was carried out deep in the capital. The Empire was rotten to the core..." Goku eyes widened at hearing the sincere disgust and hatred in his tone. "So I decided to quit being a general and joined the Revolutionary, the people who raised rebellions against the Imperials along with your mother. But as someone who had served the Imperial as the best general, my reputation brought me misfortune and while I was accepted, I was ostracized."
Mark stopped, unsure how to tell what happened next when Goku urged him. "Then? What happened?"
Mark let out a long sigh, "I worked with the Revolutionaries for a few years but that also stops when one of the captains betrayed us and injured your mother very badly." Goku could see a hidden intense rage in his eyes that Mark somehow was able to suppress, "As someone with emotions, I wanted revenge but your mother asked me not to. She told me that by working on both sides, I wasn't redeeming myself but I was slowly stripping my humanity away bit by bit." Mark scoffed and chuckled, as if to mock himself. "Even if I worked for a group that desires freedom for the people, I didn't do it because it was out of my volition but out of guilt for those who I have wronged and a forced just, an untrue motivation. Your mother, Serah Wulfrum, told me that was no way to live." He then stared Goku in the eye with a smile, "She gave me her last wish and that was to live far away from both sides and here I am, in the mountains along with my son."
Goku was in the middle of processing what Mark had told, repeating it over and over again. Asking himself how someone could be such horrible person, why and various other questions.
In that moment, Mark stepped in. "There you have it, son. I'm not really a good person but I hope you don't hate me." He gave a sad smile.
At that, Goku snapped from his thoughts and quickly shook his head. "No, Tou-chan will always be Tou-chan no matter what. I said that didn't I?" Mark's eyes slowly widened, dumbfounded but then a wide smile appeared on his face. He looked like he was about to cry.
"Thank you, Goku my son. Thank you very much." He breathed a raspy breath, calming himself down. "I know the things I did in the past are unforgiveable but as it stands, I'll respect your mother's last wish. I'll stay in these mountains." Then he faced Goku, "But what about you? After hearing that, do you want to do something?" He asked.
Goku gave Mark a determined gaze, the same one his wife had when she first joined the Revolutionaries. "Tou-chan, if you're staying then I'm going. I can't let people suffer, you always told me to do the right thing so I'll do the right thing." The seriousness on Goku's face says it all, this is what he wanted and there's nothing that could change his mind. "I'll save the people from the Imperials, I'll end it all."
Mark was proud, proud that he was able to raise a child that wasn't like him. "Good." Mark nodded, finally understand his resolve and while he wasn't ready to see the only thing left he cherish to go, he was still going to give him a good luck. "Tomorrow, I will have a test for you to pass."
"A test?" Goku asked and Mark gave a nod as a reply, "What kind?"
"The kind you're very familiar with." Mark smiled and then leaned his back on the bed, proceeding to close his eyes as he continued. "For today, we shall rest and enjoy the embrace of the night."
"Right." Goku nodded and then followed suit.
What comes next was silence, only the crickets outside could be heard and even then, it was very subtle due to the distance of the forest. The wind breeze through, cooling both of them as they were on high altitude so they have no worries of sweating uncomfortably in their sleep.
Mark was about to drift off to sleep when Goku suddenly asks a question out of nowhere, "Tou-chan, how do I differentiate between a boy and a woman?"
"A young woman of your age should be referred to as a girl." Mark corrected, "Very well, I should teach you about female in general." Mark sat up, scratching the back of his head in frustration. "Why didn't I educate you in subjects other than fighting?"
Goku blinked before he gave a sheepish grin, "Because I don't have any interest in anything else besides fighting? And food?"
Mark let out a long and exasperate sigh, this was going to be a long night for the both of them.
Morning came and the routine of both the father and the son were the same, for the most part. When afternoon came, Mark finally commences his test as he called Goku out in the barren area below the mountains, a few miles away from it–a place Goku never really had been to since he likes the confines of the mountains. It was very far away from their homes, near the outskirts of the mountain regions. When Goku got there, he witness Mark wearing a different outfit than what he usually uses during their training and sparring. This time, Mark looks like he was going to give it all in this particular bout and Goku had his blood in fire and pumping.
The attire he wore were consist of black vest, jade-colored pants with belt tightening around his waist which also has some small bags containing unknown items, black combat boots perfect for both traversing harsh environment and extreme combat, a pair of peculiar looking gloves and a dog tag around his neck. There were also sets of equipment around his body including a dagger and a long sword. His eyes had a fire in them, never once Goku had seen it and it really got his body riled up for this test.
Mark and Goku was having a staring down, both eyes while different in appearance had the same intention. "Goku, I know you've been holding back in our spars. I always noticed it, you have a lot of techniques but you never once used them on me." He closed his eyes, taking an inhale and opening it back. "While I was serious during our spar, I never really went all out. I thought that was only when I had something to protect and save. But it is also reserved for someone troublesome, someone...worthy. Never once I had used this on anyone else." He smirked, "You know what this means, right son?"
Goku nodded, "No more holding back, the both of us."
Mark widen his smirk and nodded, "Attaboy."
They stared at each other, both in a very steady yet calm posture and somehow the atmosphere around them were very thin. Thin enough that any sounds of nature around was quickly silenced, no crickets, no twig broken, no Danger Beast roars, nothing except for the wind. One who makes the first move would exposed and may be very disadvantageous depending on what moves they take and how fast they are.
Mark's instantly muscles tensed out of nowhere and Goku's awareness shot through the roof, "FRONTIER DISRUPTION!"
Flames erupted up on Mark's being, dancing fiercely in the air as instead of his usual dark blue eyes, it was replaced with dark red. His figure was overflow with wild power that was foreign to Goku who was surprised by it. But the Ki he sensed on the other hand...
Goku immediately dropped into stance as his eyes widened at what he sensed from his father, 'His power just multiplied a hundredfold! Amazing!' An excited smile made its way to the Saiyan's face, 'Tou-chan really is going all out in this! Heh, then I also have to do the same.'
Goku's Ki bursts around him as he was covered in white aura that spikes up, "You really are the strongest, Tou-chan!"
"We'll see about that, Goku." Just as Mark said this, he disappeared along with his flaming aura as Goku's eyes widened in surprise.
He quickly spread his Ki around the barren land surrounded by a forest and take notice of a speeding Ki Signature to his right. Goku turns to his side and blocked a fist with his palm, the strength behind it caved in the ground, forming a large crater and shattered the ground as the impact spreads completely.
Goku winces in pain a bit, in between his palm and Mark's fist were smoking. "Hehe, this is what I'm talking about!"
Mark smirked and swings his leg, Goku uses his other arm to block it but the force behind it seem to be more than what it looks like and he was sent flying through the air. Mark didn't let up and rushed towards Goku in an attempt to hammer him down. However, Goku regained his composure more early than he thought and Goku raises his palm targeting Mark.
Sparks emit from his palm and an energy ball accumulated. But then, it expand in size and spiked in every direction before disintegrating, launching homing Ki blasts in quite the quantity. Mark eyes widened at the foreign ability but then frowned again with a smirk. He took a hold of his long sword in an aerial stance and pulled it out, the blade shines blue color. He let his flame aura surrounds him as his power was put to maximum.
"Nightborne: Sapphire Sun! Heaaahhhh!" With a speed different from when he didn't enter his Frontier Disruption state, he cuts the Ki blasts as he soared towards Goku. Goku was surprised but smirks as he readied himself for an incoming assault. "Let's see how you fare against my Imperial Arms!"
Goku frowned in confusion, 'Imperial Arms? What's that?'
However, he didn't get to theorize as Mark with his flaming aura swings his blade at a speed Goku was having trouble evading at his current Ki level. He kept dodging but Mark was relentless with his assault so Goku quickly retaliate by using the Ki spherical repel aura. Goku's Ki appeared and covered him in a blazing spherical aura that expands in size, Mark's blade was deterred away as it couldn't pierce through the shield. Mark used the air movement to step and dash away, placing back his blade and pulled out needles from the bags on his belt as on his right hand glowing in green and on the other glows in yellow color.
"Heh, how much have you build up your resistance I wonder?" Mark threw the needles towards Goku, he only crossed his arm as about five of them scraped his body. "The green ones are poison while the yellow paralyzes the victim!"
They both drop down in the ground, the rocks beneath them crushed under the sheer pressure both of them emit. Goku began to feel the poison and paralyze dose running through his veins but he only smiled, feeling nothing nor effected by it.
Mark raises his eyebrows, impressed. "So you haven't stop eating those mushrooms. You've built enough resistance to various debuffs to the point of being immune to them." He smiled, "I guess training in the way of building up internal resistance works very well."
Goku chuckled, "Hehehe, if I could improve, I will improve without stopping! I'll burst through my limits!"
Mark scoffed, not out of scorn but in an unsurprised manner. "Of course you would...but!" He took out the dagger which looked really well-decorated in blue color scheme as it instantly turned into a great sword. Mark pointed the great sword towards Goku, smirking. "We both are still holding back despite what you said back then." He closed his eyes, still smiling before opening it up and glared at Goku. "This time, I'm really putting in my all. No surprises."
"I should too as well." Goku agreed.
The ground began to shake, Goku's eyes were glowing in anticipation while Mark's red eyes brightened. Goku raises his Ki to the maximum level while Mark uses all of his Imperial Arms and a special artifact. This was it, the test Goku going to pass. He have to give it his all even if it would injured his father badly.
"Relic Eater Mistelteinn: Lapis Deity-Hunter Mode." Mark chanted and in a span of a split second, a blue-purplish iron parts expands on his being as it collapse and attached onto every parts of his body, completely covering him in a blue-purplish armor with glowing yellow linings as the great sword disappeared. "It is time for the Deity-Hunt."
Goku watches in amazement as Mark's power had gone into an uncharted zone, surpassing all the expectations Goku had in him. Finally, Goku can actually release all of his power without fearing for Mark's safety as with his newly equipped armor, he'll survive most of the attacks Goku would use against him.
Goku crouched down and then powered up, the Ki flared even more fiercely around him. Under this pressure, the rocks and dirt beneath them shook so violently it shattered and float into the sky, destroying the terrain as in a faraway view, this scene can be interpreted as an unnatural phenomenon. The sky darkens and a beam of light shot up from Goku's position, it was actually a large amount of Ki contained in one vessel but now, it was released causing destruction on the surrounding.
Mark watches, dumbfounded at Goku's display of power. 'Astounding, this is truly the power of a God.' He commented internally, witnessing first-hand of Goku's full power which was enough to cause a natural disaster by merely existing. 'This armor is designed to hunt false Gods and false Idols that used to roam around this world but I don't think it has enough power to defeat an actual God from the stars.'
Goku instantly stopped powering up, the rocks that was floating upwards slowed its momentum of raising up before the gravity eventually pulls them down. Goku was covered in the same white aura but this time, it was very dense in a sense it was far clearer in the naked eyes. His muscles were bulging but it was perfectly balanced, it doesn't restraint his movements or limits his turning joints. Goku with a frown and a smirk looks at his father, both of them were in their utmost prime.
"Let's do this, son!"
"Of course, Tou-chan!"
Both dashed and their clash creates a large dome that completely destroys anything within it. It completely outshines the Sun's brightness as it made their surroundings darker. The birds flew away, the animals all ran to safety while the Danger Beasts cowered at the intensity of the otherworldly powers both of them carried. The dome cracked and shattered, sending shockwaves that bend the trees miles away and created a large crater that could've covered multiple towns.
What happens after were afterimages of the two exchanging blows around the battlefield as every punches and kicks tremors everything around them. Goku with his Ki aura and Mark with his flame mixing with blue aura as both were equal in strength and speed. However, that was quickly debunked when Goku sends in a punch infused with an enormous amount of Ki that stops Mark's onslaught as he blocks it and was sent away crashing on a mountain. However, that didn't ruined his stance and his awareness as he was prepared for the next attack Goku launched.
Goku gathers his Ki on both of his hands, crossing his arms above his head and while the gathering of Ki wasn't visible, it was there. "Masenko-haaa!"
Mark quickly took out the blade he had earlier; Nightborne: Sapphire Sun as it changes its shape. "Ascend! AZURE NOVAAA!" Mark yelled, the blade glow in the color of highlighted-blue and became a larger sword that dwarf even the great sword he used earlier and himself.
He swung the blade and made contact with Goku's Mesenko. However, it didn't manage to overpower it as the Mesenko was very powerful and it ended up in Mark having a struggle to fight it off. The Mesenko however was pushing him deeper into the mountain. Teeth gritting against each other, Mark roared and completely redirect the trajectory of the blast to his side, the blast flinging off towards the other direction in a speed even Mark couldn't keep up with.
It traveled far away over the curves of the planet over the seas as Mark couldn't see where it was landing before it impacted the surface. Like a nuke, it blew up into a large dome that can be seen as the shockwaves ripped the land and the pushes the clouds away approximately over a few miles away. Mark couldn't assess how powerful Goku's Mesenko was as boosters from his back blasted him off towards Goku with his blade raise high above his head. Goku notices this but does nothing as he just watches Mark swing.
"Omni Impact!" Mark swings overhead while Goku raises his arms above his head, crossing it.
He landed a direct attack and send Goku downwards on the ground, caving in the destroyed terrain to the point it collapses so deep in the ground beneath causing lava to spew out. Goku's figure was engulfed by the hot melting magma but Mark knew better to worry for his well-being.
Goku shot up, unaffected by the high temperature of the magma as he shakes his head to get rid of any magma, staring at his father with his Gi torn and burnt. "That was a good hit, I really felt that."
"Good, because you're really going to feel this." The oversized blade dissipate into blue particles as Mark raises his arm to form a large needle that shined in random color, "Nega-Torment, full power! I've flatten its size to increase its speed and piercing power! You better be ready!" The large needle sped up towards Goku who had his eyes widened before smirking.
"I've been meaning to test this!" Goku focuses on his Ki and form a barrier around his body, his figure was outlined with Ki. "Let's see how this matches up!"
The needle's momentum came to a halt once it made contact with Goku's abdomen, Mark's eyes widened in shock. The sharp point wasn't able to pierce through Goku's barrier, it takes a very powerful shield. He was really shocked. However, Mark doesn't give up yet. Using the Armor's mana reserves, he strengthen the needle's power beyond its limits. Still it wasn't able to pierce through as Goku's face scrunches up, raising his Ki and completely deflected the needle, destroying it in the process.
Mark quickly form small needles in the same color and managed to give Goku few cut on his biceps and forearm while his barrier was down. "Those needles have combined effects of poison, sedative, paralyze, slowness and every negative effects! This could kill an SS-Class Danger Beast within seconds! Will your body hold out? Can you fight me while your body weakened considerably?"
The effects kicked in as Goku felt pain all over his body, his body felt sluggish and he can barely move. He gritted his teeth and then powers up, "This is nothing! I've also created a countermeasure for this!" Goku yelled and immediately, the Ki wave circulates around his nervous system and strengthen his immune system to the point it nullifies the negative effects. "There!"
Mark was caught off once again, shocked but then smirks. "You're a battle genius alright!" He blasted off, "Mana input, full capacity!" His armored body was covered by the same aura but this time, it had more power and Goku was grinning ear to ear. "Activating Imperial Arm, Black-Zero!" The peculiar gloves Mark had earlier morphs into larger fist, combining with the armor's gauntlet. "This is my all, Goku! Defeat me and you'll pass the test!"
Goku raises his palm and formed a few disks, "Destructo Disk!" He launches them towards Mark.
Mark didn't evade until the last minute which slices off a part of his upper helmet as his eyes widened, 'This armor is very durable and yet that disk sliced it as it was nothing! These disks are more dangerous than they appear!' He dodged them as even one of them were able to cut off a few mountains behind.
He appeared before Goku, raising his fist and mustered all of his strength and powers into this one attack. "Survive this, COSMIC CLAP!"
Goku was really having the time of his life, pulling his fist back as he reenact the same powerful attack he seen in his dreams just like many techniques he used. "I won't dodge it, I will destroy it with my fist!" He imagine a large and long Dragon coursing through his body, coiling around his figure as his Ki exploded. "DRAGON FIST!"
Both fist collided, the area around was colored in negative color before a white light covered everything. In a faraway view, the light shone brightly as it was very visible on the globe, the clouds were pushed away far with the light in the middle, forming a clear space free of clouds that nearly covered half of the planet. Back to Goku, a large Dragon passed through the light as Mark in his torn armor sent soaring in the air as a sound akin to screeching whistling vibrated. He crashed onto the ground but thanks to the booster from his back, he managed to lessen the speeding momentum and impact, creating only a large crater. With his torn up armor, he wouldn't be so sure if it could protect him from the hot magma below.
The area around them were in ruins, filled with craters, nearby mountains all toppled down or crushed, the trees have all either torn away or burnt, the magma spew out from the ground. They were both lucky to have not sparred near their home or it would've been destroyed. Mark stood up, the armor slowly repairing itself but any other means of attack seemed impossible. His Mana was only in an amount to repair his armor and protect him.
"Ka...me..." Mark heard a chant, lifting his head up as the sky darkens once more a sole blue light shone. "Ha...me..." A loud audible sound of swirling energy accumulating played in the background, Mark's eyes widened as Goku still has more power.
Mark stared at the blue light, preparing himself to evade the attack. However, what he didn't expect is for Goku to appear before him out of thin air.
'Teleportation!?' Mark shouted out in his mind in shock.
"HAAAAA!" Goku pushes his palm forward and Mark, in response to this, could only crossed his arm and uses every last drop of Mana the armor could give him but it wasn't enough.
'The beam's too strong! I can't hold it out!' Mark thought.
Soon, his armor cracks and broke apart, it couldn't survive the blast as the beam burns his body. Goku notices this and quickly put a stop to it and the beam slowly died out.
"Tou-chan!" Goku called out his father in worry and fright.
"Ugh..." Mark, barely have a grip on his consciousness, groaned in pain. He couldn't move his body with the extreme exhaustion and damage.
"Are you okay!?" Goku asked, dropping down onto his knees.
There were horrible burns around his body but thanks to Goku stopping his Kamehameha from further injuring Mark, they were in small amount. However, most of his bones were broken and some of his insides were damaged due to the armor not being able to nullify most of the force from Goku's hits. Mark was in a pretty bloody state, he really seemed like he wasn't okay but he was still alive and in one piece.
"Y-Yeah, barely." Mark replied, smiling. "You're really s-s-something...y-you know that?" He commented, looking at Goku's state.
He had bruises all over his body, bloody and couple of cuts but other than that, there was nothing else. In Mark's eyes, the injuries on Goku's body was minor compare to what he had. Even with the protection of the Deity-Hunter armor, it wasn't able to minimize all of Goku's attack and he would've been killed had he not dodged Goku's Destructo Disk that could cut through anything. The blows, the blasts, everything hurts him but thanks to that, he could see his son shining with his powers.
"Tou-chan..." Goku smiles sadly, not really finding his father's state to be pleasant.
"Heh, you're very powerful Goku." Mark smiled, closing his eyes. "So powerful that even in this test, you still have some strength to spare." Goku flinches and then looks away, "I'm right, aren't I?" Mark laughed but then he winces in pain. "Itta!"
"Tou-chan!" Mark quickly assures Goku's worry by smiling.
"Don't worry, I'll still survive. Good thing we have those beans back home, huh?" Mark chuckled and then stared at the sky, "That battle was probably something I've wanted. You've passed–no, I already knew you'll pass no matter what."
Goku smiles, "Thank you for this test, Tou-chan."
"No, Goku." Mark shook his head, "Thank you." Mark finishes as he lets out a long exhale, smiling while he stares at the Sun. "Let's go home, I need to eat one of the Senzu Beans."
Goku nodded and carried Mark, "Yeah, let's."
After the hard-fought battle, Goku and Mark returned back to their home as the nature that was destroyed began to repair itself really slowly...
Night falls, both Goku and Mark were resting in their respective beds, the campfire on the ground where Mark usually cooks up medicine or some lunch for him and Goku were the only thing lighting the place up though it was rather dimly. The orange light flickers along with the sound of the cracking of the fire and wood, serenaded Mark's tired mind. All of his battle injuries were healed but he was extremely exhausted. The battle he had with Goku completely drained him.
Mark pondered on telling him the layouts of the continents, showing him the way so he wouldn't get lost but something else was weighing his mind. 'Will there be something troublesome in the Empire?' Mark quickly shook his head at the stupid question, 'Of course there'll be...especially her.'
The one Mark had trained under him, the girl who received his tutelage. She'll definitely be troublesome but he had confidence Goku will be able to take care of her, he'll be fine. No doubt will there be bloodshed and Goku will be forced to do things that are horrible but necessary. Killing is definitely one of them.
"Tou-chan." Goku called, sitting up on the edge of his bed. "Can I ask you something?"
Mark slowly sat up, his body still aching from the fatigue and muscle tissues fixing itself. "Yes, what is it you want to ask?"
"I want to know about those Imperial Arms and the armor you wore. You call it Relic Eater?" Goku asked and Mark understood why.
It was unfamiliar term and more so they are related to fighting which Goku love. Having knowledge about certain things before facing them is very advantageous, Mark taught Goku that when he was little. He should explain in since he never once uses it on Goku or anyone else until today. No one was actually strong enough to face him even without the Imperial Arms and that Relic Eater.
"Well, Imperial Arms are special tools that was made from powerful Danger Beasts. There are a lot of them and these Imperial Arms chooses its own wielders. Before that, Frontier Disruption is different as it is a state I created that greatly amplifies my power." Mark started with a smile, "The ones I got are the Nightborne: Sapphire Sun that could ascend into Azure Nova made from a blue-scaled Dragon Danger Beast that spews blue fure, the Nega-Torment are needles that could be formed out of thin air and have variety effects on them as you witness made from a spiky creature that likes to torture its prey and lastly, the Black-Zero. They are gloves made from an S-Class Danger Beast and a dense metal found near the core of the Earth. Its striking power could easily level a capital." Mark explained before going to the other subject, "The Relic Eater is a different case. They are not made out of Danger Beast but instead, the Deities that once stepped on Earth."
"Deities?" Mark nodded.
"Yes." He continued, "During the first Emperor's rule, Imperial Arms were created to protect the Empire but some Deities trampled over. Most of the Imperial Arms have no effect on these creatures. However, the Emperor managed to defeat one of the Deities with his own Imperial Arm and created something that would soon be called as Relic Eaters using the dead carcass of the Deity." Mark remembered when he first obtained it, it was unforgettable. "Relic Eater are a more powerful variant of Imperial Arms and there are only six of them exist in the world. Mine is the Mistelteinn Lapis, created from a powerful Idol. I could use it to make a powerful armor that tremendously boosts all of my stats and implement the use of Mana into my body. It's a very powerful armor."
"But why didn't you use it against me before the test?" Goku asked.
Mark chuckled, "I wasn't sure if I was still able to use it properly because it's been a very long time since I used it, I thought age was getting to me but today you proved me wrong." He smiles proudly, "Also, no matter what, I couldn't see myself defeating you even with the help of my Imperial Arms and that Relic Eater."
Goku nodded, "Okay." He stared at the ceiling in thought, "Do you think there's someone in the Empire that could wield a Relic Eater?"
Mark thought of the possibility and it was very slim, "It is very unlikely because unlike Imperial Arms, the Relic Eaters are very picky with their wielders and most of them were not able to form a contract. There is also the requirements and question asked. If fail, the Relic Eater will kill their host, consuming their souls." He heaved a sigh, "But of course, there is still a possibility that at most one person in a generation will be able to become a host for a Relic Eater like me." He narrowed his eyes, "If that's the case then perhaps she also has obtained one..." He muttered quiet enough.
"What?" Goku asked and Mark waved his hands dismissively.
"No, it's nothing." Mark smiled, "Tomorrow, I'm going to give you a map that'll lead you to the Empire. The moment you stepped out of this island, you are on your own. I cannot help you out there as I will be staying here to keep my promise." Goku nodded, his face serious and his eyes determined. "However, since you'll be helping people there, I'll notify someone there to look after you. Do you want to join the Revolutionary, Goku?"
Goku stared at Mark, "They are fighting off the Empire right?" Mark nodded, "Then yes, I'll join them!" He exclaimed.
"Are you sure? You do know you're going to do what's necessary like-"
"Like killing, yes." Goku cut him off, earning a surprised look on Mark's face. "If it means for innocent people to stop suffering in the hands of the Empire then I'll do it. I'll save people from all those corrupted nobles, from bad people."
Mark chuckled and nodded in understatement, "Alright, alright. You resolved yourself already, fine." Even if it was just little, Mark hoped that Goku would stay here but that was merely a dream as Goku would've gone whether he liked it or not. His persistence on asking Goku whether he's sure or not proved it. "I won't stop you so for now, let's have a good rest. I'll explain tomorrow, I'm too tired now."
Goku grinned and nodded, both of them laid on their respective beds and drifted off to sleep. Goku was the first one to sleep as he was already snoring while Mark was pondering about the student he once had, the ice cold girl whose view on the world is as twisted as the corruption in the Imperial Capital itself. She was just a child when he took her in and now, perhaps she's older enough to be a general–no. She will be a general regardless of her age, she was that powerful. Then his thoughts went to if Goku and her would met, it would undoubtedly be bloodshed. His son and his former student fighting as their ideals clashed, that would surely be a sight to behold.
However, Mark has confidence that his son will come out as a victor, he will be.
With that, Mark entered the state of slumber with a smile on his face.
Morning came and Mark was standing on a beach with Goku who had a backpack containing any necessities like his clothes. Suffice to say, Mark was a bit sad that his son was going away but he was really glad that the corruption will come to an end. Perhaps then he could finally rest and relieve himself from the guilt he had of what he had done when he joined the Imperials.
Goku was wearing a new attire that Mark had made for him, a martial art outfit in the color of orange, blue undershirt, blue obi tied tightly around his waist, two wristbands and a pair of blue and black combat boots. Mark was no fashionista but the color orange and blue fitted Goku perfectly, more so than his usual fade blue and yellow dogi. Goku was smiling though his eyes were frowning showing how serious and determined he was to save the people from the clutch of the Empire.
"Want me to recap about the directions?" Mark asked but Goku shook his head.
"No, I already know it." Goku replied, holding the hands of his backpack tightly. "I'm going, Tou-chan."
Mark nodded, closing his eyes with a smile. "Yeah, have a safe trip son."
"When this is all over, I will come visit you." Goku stated.
"Of course, make sure you bring a girl with you." Mark joked but Goku wasn't able to understand it.
"Eh? What for?" Goku asked back in genuine confusion.
Mark just laughed and waved it off, "Ah, don't worry about that. I'm sure you'll meet a good girl or a better woman in your life."
"Okay?" Goku furrowed his eyebrows before nodding and smiled. "Farewell, until we meet again Tou-chan."
"Yeah, until we meet again son." Mark replied.
Goku walk towards the shore and once a distance was made between them, Ki aura exploded over his being and he blasted off towards the sky with a map on hand. Mark oversees his son heading towards the direction of the Empire, having a complete faith that his son won't fail. He knew there will be countless challenges aside from fighting, one Goku will have a hard time with but Mark had already trained him to be prepare for anything. Anything including despair and hopelessness.
And so, Son Goku makes his way to the corrupted Empire ruled by a very young Emperor oblivious to the minister's manipulation. What would happen when Goku finally arrives at the Empire? What destiny will be unfold with his presence? What changes will he make?
Whose fate will he save from?
The moonlight shade through the windows, the room was dark and it had one chair akin to a throne room. One person sat on that chair, it was a woman with short white hair with a purple eye as her left had an eyepatch on. Her left arm was a prosthetic and nearly about this woman tells a tale of great conflict. She was resting her head on her right fist, reminiscing the days of her time in the Imperials and Revolutionary from when before she entered Night Raid, when she used to follow someone's lead, someone whom she greatly respected and heavily indebted to.
As she was pondering, someone appeared in front of her out of nowhere nearly instantaneous. Caught off guard, she prepared herself to attack or counteract only to face someone she had seen somewhere. Blinking, Najenda of Night Raid stared at the girl in front of her, her appearance screamed unnatural as well as divinity. The girl had long purple hair, two bags on each side of her face were twirling as she wore attire that resembles a maid except it was very extravagant it didn't really look like one. Her eyes were blue and had shades of white showing she isn't a Human. Despite being not Human, she was undeniably attractive–supernaturally so. However, her lack of expression on her face was really unnerving to Najenda.
As previously stated, the girl seemed familiar like she had seen her somewhere before. So when the girl didn't attack her, she didn't retaliate and stayed there, showing that she has acknowledge her presence and hear her out. However, Najenda was still very cautious as this girl had unknowingly infiltrate the Night Raid HQ without anyone noticing–not even her and she had done it with ease as well. It was a very good reason for her to be extremely cautious. Because of that, the atmosphere feels strained and she was very tense.
"Najenda," The girl called, her voice was also emotionless and this wasn't making the scene less tense. "I'm Lapis if you don't remember and I'm here on Master's orders."
Najenda narrowed her eyes, "Lapis, I heard that name somewhere..."
The girl, Lapis, merely continued. "My Master had given you this."
Suddenly, a piece of letter materialize above Najenda as it slowly fell down with Najenda catching it on instinct. She stared at the letter in her hands, feeling a sense of familiarity as if someone had marked the letter and make her feel this. Najenda stared at the girl, she was very familiar and that's when it clicked; she had seen her about four times and all of them were during her time both in the Imperials and the Revolutionary. As Lapis said, she was with her "Master" and that master was someone Najenda knows very well.
"You were with him!" Najenda stated in realization, her eyes widened. "Then, that means..."
"Pum-pa-pa-pum." Lapis tried to mimic a congratulatory music but failed due to her emotionless tone though she shows no care for it, "Congratulations, now you know what that means." Najenda, still with her eyes widened, nodding in understatement as if she had just seen a ghost. "With that done, I will make my departure." She finished, blue liquid flames appeared as it engulfed her body and vanished just as the flames were distinguished.
Left alone in the room, Najenda stared at the letter. "Of course you're not dead, you have triumph over countless trials by yourself." She smiled, shaking her head before that expression went to a dazed state, wondering. "But what could you possibly want? Enter the Revolutionary again?" Najenda asked particularly to no one as she let out a sigh of relief. "At least I know you're alive, Mark..."
End of the Chapter:
"The Son and the Father"
Alright, that's done, thanks for reading. First chapter in and damn did it take a lot of me to make this.
I wasn't sure at first on the power scaling since Goku could easily trumps over the cast so I added something that certain characters can use to keep up with him. I mean, for real though, Goku is powerful. Really powerful. I even make him more powerful than his canon counterpart and also smarter so I just need something to be added so we can see him at his best moments.
That something are the Relic Eaters, a concept I got from Anti-Magic Academy's The 35th Platoon. I just watched that old (not too old) anime recently and found it to be entertaining and their powers to be...a bit unique? I don't know, I think it's just cool with the armor like Incursio and Grand Chariot but meh. It's something more powerful (in this fanfic) as it came from Deities. It's not really an original idea as the only original thing I added is it being made of Deities but well, it fits in. Relic Eater Mistelteinn: Lapis God-Hunter Mode is the same armor worn by the protagonist there (-_-), sorry for not being creative.
The other five Eater Relics are a secret, you'll only have to find it out in future chapters. The only hint I'll give you is it might be weapons or powers that came from other animes or mangas or light novels or anything relating to it. Perhaps even games as well ;) Coincidentally though, Imperial Arms were also called Imperial Relics so the Relic Eater kinda fits here–man do I make such good accidents.
And no, hax doesn't work the same it is as any other animes since Dragon Ball's hax system is very different. When the one with the hax has lower Ki level than his opponent, then he/she could not perform it since it won't work against a stronger opponent.
As for the pairings, still thinking or rather, just let my imagination run wild with it. I don't think it's going to be harem and even then it will only be two at most since I don't really like harem as much as I used to seeing nearly all of them are done half-assed. If it's cliché or overdone then that's that. If it's unique then okay. I'm going to let my imagination decide that.
Well, that all for the talks. Did you enjoyed the chapter? If you do, please do leave a review, fav and follow. Reasonable and constructive criticisms are also appreciated along with stupid and incoherent flames. I'm not going to tolerate the ones with the damned preference, if you don't like the premise from the summary then why the fuck are you here, telling me your taste and what you want? Get the fuck outta here, trash. Find other fanfic that suited you tastes.
Thanks once again for reading and hope I'll see (read) you guys in the next chapter.
Till we meet again.
