Twilight Sparkle looked down and saw that Pinkie Pie had tossed all of the cupcakes, that she wanted to eat, to the ground. Her stomach continued growling, while she said, "It seems like I'm not going to get the snack, that I was hoping for."

Mr. Cake had heard Pinkie Pie's scream, so he walked by and asked, "What's going on?"

Pinkie Pie said, "My sister got a boyfriend, even though I didn't want her to." She nervously smiled, while saying, "Also, I accidentally ruined all the cupcakes." Mr. Cake passed out.

Pinkie Pie stared at Maud. Pinkie was usually happy and loving, when around Maud, but this time, she looked upset. Maud felt surprised and a bit nervous, by Pinkie's outburst, but she tried to look calm and reserved. Pinkie started walking closer to Maud, while saying, "I can't believe you did this."

Maud replied, "I don't think I did anything wrong."

Pinkie said, "Well, you're wrong."

Twilight Sparkle put her hoof of Pinkie's shoulder and said, "I think you should calm down."

Pinkie ignored Twilight and started pacing around Maud, while saying, "So, how long have you known this guy?"

Maud said, "We just met, last night. His name is Mudbriar. He's a really charming guy. I relate to him, in a number of ways. I think you'll warm up to him, after you meet him."

Pinkie replied, "Yeah right. If he's like you, he must be an unreliable sibling."

Twilight Sparkle said, "Pinkie, that's a terrible thing to say."

Pinkie replied, "This doesn't involve you, Twilight."

Twilight Sparkle responded, "Fair enough." Twilight walked up to Mrs. Cake, while her stomach continued growling. She asked, "Can I have something to eat?"

Mrs. Cake said, "Sure, it sounds like you need food."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "That's for sure."

Maud watched Pinkie, who continued looking upset and offended. Maud tried to reason with her sister, by saying, "I know we both used to frown upon romance, when we were growing up. We both agreed, that we'd never date anyone."

Pinkie replied, "Well, I would be glad that you remembered that, if you hadn't broken your promise."

Maud said, "Breaking promises is normally a bad thing, but back then, I thought romance was icky, just like you did. I don't feel that way, anymore."

Pinkie folded her arms and replied, "I think I understand, what you're trying to say. You're telling me, that you used to be a loyal, trustworthy sister and now, you're a promise-breaking liar."

Maud sighed and said, "Maybe I am. I never meant to hurt your feelings, Pinkie."

Pinkie replied, "I don't know if you mean that, considering how unreliable you've become."

Maud thought about the situation and didn't know what she was supposed to do. Eventually, she looked back at Pinkie and said, "It seems like I need to re-earn your trust, Pinkie and it seems like there's only one way to do that. I have to stop seeing Mudbriar."

Maud stepped out of the bakery. She looked around and saw that Mudbriar was across the street and was digging around a carrot patch, in the hopes of finding sticks. Maud walked up to him and had a gloomy expression on her face, while saying, "Hi, Mudbriar."

Mudbriar turned around and saw Maud. He smiled, while saying, "Hello, my sweet rock. It's good to see you."

Maud said, "I'm afraid I have sad news."

Mudbriar started looking concerned, while asking, "What's wrong?"

Maud explained, "I'm not allowed to see you, anymore."

Mudbriar replied, "Technically, that doesn't make sense."

Maud said, "My dear sister, Pinkie Pie, doesn't accept our feelings, for each other. Years ago, when we were fillies, Pinkie and I made a promise, that we'd never get involved in a romantic relationship. At the time, we both thought romance was a fluffy and superficial thing, but that was before I met you."

For the first time, in a long time, Mudbriar looked sad. He said, "Maud, are you saying we can't see each-other, anymore?"

Maud said, "Yes, but it's not what I want."

Mudbriar touched Maud's hoof, while saying, "I might be speaking out of line, but how about doing what you want, rather than what your sister wants? You deserve to be happy and technically, breaking a promise isn't a good thing, but in this situation, I think it's acceptable."

Maud sighed and replied, "I wish things were simpler, my sweet stick. However, I don't think my sister will trust me or love me, anymore, if I keep seeing you."

Mudbriar responded, "Technically, I don't understand, but I respect your dedication, to your sister. If you feel we have to stop seeing each-other, I suppose I'll have to let you go."

Maud said, "I'm truly sorry. I feel like a lousy pony."

Mudbriar gently lifted Maud's chin and smiled, while replying, "You shouldn't feel bad, Maud. Even though I only got to be with you, for an evening and a morning, it was a wonderful experience. I've never met any pony, that's like you."

Maud responded, "I feel the same way."

Mudbriar asked, "Can I give you one more kiss?"

Maud shyly answered, "I suppose that would be alright." Maud and Mudbriar got closer to each other, before sharing a long kiss. Maud felt like she didn't want the kiss to end, but she knew it would have to, eventually.

After the kiss was over, Maud started walking back to the bakery. She briefly turned around and looked at Mudbriar, who was looking for sticks, while trying to not look depressed. Maud blew him a kiss and returned to the bakery.

Maud walked inside and saw Twilight Sparkle, who was eating a giant loaf of bread. She also saw Pinkie, who was sitting down, while having a blank expression on her face. Maud walked up to Pinkie and said, "I hope you don't feel upset, anymore. I dumped Mudbriar."

Pinkie looked surprised, while asking, "Really?"

Maud nodded and explained, "I didn't want to dump Mudbriar, because in a short amount of time, I became very fond of him. However, I broke a promise and I had to fix that. I made things right, Pinkie."

Pinkie smiled and said, "You sure did. I'm so proud of you. It turns out, that you're still the amazing sister, that I always thought you were." She gave Maud a big hug and said, "Thank you. We should have a party, to celebrate this moment."

Maud replied, "Actually, I don't really feel like partying, right now. I think I need some alone time."

Pinkie said, "That's fine, but we should have dinner, together."

Maud replied, "That sounds nice. I'll see you, later." Maud waved to Pinkie and Twilight, before leaving the bakery.

Twilight Sparkle put down her bread and walked up to Pinkie. She observed Pinkie's happy expression, before saying, "You seem to be looking more chipper, than before. I'm hoping things worked out, between you and Maud."

Pinkie replied, "Everything worked out. Maud realized she made a terrible mistake, by breaking her promise. That's why she dumped Mudbriar."

Twilight Sparkle raised an eyebrow and said, "What? Maud really dumped him, just because of a childhood promise?"

Pinkie nodded and said, "Yep, Maud's such a good sister."

Twilight Sparkle gave Pinkie a disapproving look, while replying, "I can't believe you pressured Maud, into ending the first romantic-relationship, that she's ever had."

Pinkie responded, "It's the first and last bit of romance, that Maud's ever going to get. We made a promise and Maud's a good pony, so she's not going to break that promise, ever again."

Twilight Sparkle ate another piece of bread, before saying, "Pinkie, I'm somebody, who thinks promises are an important thing. I usually frown-upon the mere thought, of breaking a promise. However, if Maud doesn't break this promise, she'll be missing-out on being with Mudbriar and that'll make her sad."

Pinkie chuckled and replied, "Yeah right, Twilight. It seems like you don't know Maud, as well as I do. She's the most emotionally-strong pony, that I've ever met. She's not going to care, if she has to leave some dorky guy."

Twilight Sparkle said, "Oh, really. Then how about we visit Maud and see how she's doing?"

Pinkie replied, "That sounds good. Maud said she wanted to be alone, but I don't think it would hurt, to pay a quick visit."

Twilight Sparkle looked at Mrs. Cake, while asking, "Can you give me some bread, to go?" Mrs. Cake nodded.

A few minutes later, Pinkie and Twilight started walking out of the bakery, while Twilight carried a large bag, that was full of bread. Twilight pulled-out a piece of bread and started munching on it, while looking at Pinkie and saying, "You're going to feel bad, when you see Maud."

Pinkie replied, "I doubt that. Like I said, Maud's a tough girl. I'm sure she doesn't actually care, about romance."

A short time later, Pinkie and Twilight started knocking on Maud's house door. Maud opened the door and said, "Um, hi, Pinkie and Twilight."

Pinkie replied, "I hope you don't mind the visit, Maud, but Twilight and I wanted to make sure, that you were okay."

Maud said, "Technically, I'm okay."

Twilight Sparkle took a close look at Maud's face and saw a tear, that was coming down Maud's face. Twilight asked, "Have you been crying?"

Maud said, "That's a question, that I don't want to answer."

Pinkie started feeling bad, while saying, "You weren't actually crying, were you?"

Maud sighed and replied, "I'm afraid I was."

Pinkie asked, "Why?"

Another tear came down Maud's face, while saying, "Because I like Mudbriar, but I can't be with him, because of the promise we made. I want to be a good sister, but I also want to be a good girlfriend. There's no way, that I can do both." Maud got on the ground and started holding Boulder, while more tears came down her eyes. She said, "I'm sorry. I've never acted like this, before. I feel embarrassed and ashamed."

Twilight Sparkle looked at Pinkie, while asking, "Are you feeling guilty, yet?"

Pinkie nervously smiled and said, "Yes I am."

Twilight Sparkle replied, "Maud's not the one, who's been a bad sister."

Pinkie sighed and responded, "You're right."

Pinkie walked up to Maud and put her hoof on Maud's shoulder. Maud looked at her, while saying, "Hi, Pinkie. Is everything cool, between us? Have you forgiven me?"

Pinkie replied, "Maud, I don't have to forgive you, because you didn't do anything wrong." She paused and said, "Well, breaking a promise is wrong, if you think about it."

Twilight Sparkle said, "Just get to the apology, Pinkie."

Pinkie looked at Maud, while saying, "I'm sorry, for acting like you're a bad sister."

Maud replied, "But I was being a bad sister. I broke a promise, that we made."

Pinkie said, "That's true, but we were young fillies, who didn't know what we were talking about. We've changed a lot and that's okay. If you want to start dating someone, you should. Don't let me stop you, from being happy."

Maud wiped away some tears, before saying, "Are you sure you don't mind?"

Pinkie replied, "I did mind, at first, but I was being a jerk. Promises are usually meant to be kept, but a promise should never stop you, from what you love."

Maud smiled and said, "Thank you, Pinkie." She gave her a sister a hug, while saying, "I love you."

Pinkie replied, "I love you, too."

Maud started running out of the house. Pinkie looked at Twilight, while asking, "Where is Maud going?"

Twilight Sparkle said, "I think she's going to go find Mudbriar."

Pinkie said, "So, was my apology okay?"

Twilight Sparkle ate a piece of bread, while replying, "It was a good apology."

Pinkie jokingly said, "You better not eat so much bread or you might become the Princess of Bellies."

Twilight Sparkle said, "It sounds like you have another apology, that you need to give."

Maud started walking around Ponyville, at a very quick pace, in the hopes of finding Mudbriar. She checked the carrot patch, that Mudbriar was previously at, but he wasn't there, anymore. He also wasn't at the cafe.

Mudbriar was at a stand, that was run by Filthy Rich. Filthy Rich was selling various items, that he purchased, for very high prices. Filthy Rich saw Mudbriar and said, "Greetings, customer. How can I help you?"

Mudbriar sighed and replied, "The girl, that I got a crush on, had to dump me, for family-related reasons. I want to buy something, that can get my mind off my sadness."

Filthy Rich smiled, while saying, "You're in luck, because I sell the most valuable and intriguing items, that anybody's ever seen. I'm sure you'll be able to find something, that'll captivate your interest."

Mudbriar started digging through the various items, that Filthy Rich was selling. He saw a bunch of cider, comics, apples, dresses, stuffed-animals and books. That stuff didn't interest him, so he kept digging around, before finding a rock, that was made out of diamonds. The rock brought back memories, of Maud. Mudbriar held the rock, while sighing.

Filthy Rich said, "You seem to be interested, in that rock. I can't blame you, because it's one of the most well-designed and beautiful rocks, that I've ever seen. I'm willing to sell it, for a very reasonable price. I'm charging fifty-thousand dollars, but if you wanted to pay more, I'd be incredibly thrilled."

A moment later, Maud walked up to Mudbriar. Mudbriar looked surprised, while saying, "Hi, Maud. What's going on?"

Maud explained, "My sister and I had another talk and we were able to work things out. She doesn't have a problem, with me dating you, anymore."

Mudbriar asked, "Really?"

Maud said, "Yep."

Mudbriar said, "This is wonderful news. I was so sad, when you broke-up with me."

Maud looked guilty, while replying, "I'm really sorry, about putting you through that."

Mudbriar said, "It's okay, my sweet rock. We're together, again."

Maud said, "I was sad, too."

Mudbriar looked at Maud's face. Although Maud had wiped away most of the tears, a few remained. Mudbriar asked, "Were you crying?"

Maud shyly said, "I'm afraid so."

Mudbriar said, "I hope you're not sad, anymore."

Maud replied, "Not anymore, because I'm with you."

Filthy Rich was getting tired, of Maud and Mudbriar's conversation. His mind was focused on making money, rather than making happy memories. He smiled, while staring at them and saying, "You two seem to be rather happy, together and I believe you can become even more happy, by buying one of my rare items."

Mudbriar wanted to buy the rock, that was made out of diamonds, for Maud, but it was too expensive. Instead, he bought a blue rock, which he gave to Maud. He asked, "What do you think of it?"

Maud said, "It's nice." She put her arm around Mudbriar, while saying, "I'm so glad, that we reunited, because I really like you."

Mudbriar said, "Technically, I love you."

Maud replied, "Wow, this is probably a big step, in our relationship." She smiled and said, "I love you, too." Maud and Mudbriar kissed each-other.

A while later, Maud returned to the bakery, but this time, she was accompanied by Mudbriar. Maud wanted to introduce her boyfriend, to her sister. She looked around and saw Twilight Sparkle, who was eating some cupcakes, for desert.

Maud went to the front counter and saw Pinkie. Pinkie hopped to Maud and said, "Hi, Maud. It's so nice, to get another visit from you." She noticed Mudbriar, so she asked, "Who's that?"

Maud said, "This is my boyfriend, Mudbriar."

Pinkie looked at Mudbriar. She closely observed him, to make sure he looked like a nice guy. She quickly noticed, that he had an expressionless stare, just like Maud, which Pinkie approved of. Pinkie said, "Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie."

Mudbriar replied, "I'm Mudbriar."

Pinkie nervously smiled and said, "I'm sorry, that I tried to ruin you and Maud's relationship."

Mudbriar said, "Technically, you were being very intrusive and you weren't minding your own business."

Pinkie sighed and said, "That's true."

Mudbriar said, "However, from what Maud's told me, you sound like the most dedicated and fun-loving sister, that Maud's ever had."

Pinkie replied, "Aww." She gave Maud and Mudbriar a hug.

Maud looked at Pinkie, while saying, "So, everything's okay?"

Pinkie nudged Maud and replied, "You bet. However, you might to slow things down. Referring to Mudbriar, as your boyfriend, is a pretty bold thing to say. You might want to wait, until you share your first kiss."

Mudbriar responded, "Technically, we've already kissed, three times."

Pinkie screamed, "What?!" Pinkie's scream made Mr. Cake pass out.

Maud said, "Pinkie, I appreciate the advice, but I think Mudbriar and I are fine, with the way our relationship is going."

Pinkie replied, "Well, if that's how you feel, I'm happy for you."

Maud smiled and hugged Pinkie, while saying, "You're the best sister."

Pinkie replied, "Actually, that would be you."

Mudbriar said, "Technically, you both seem like amazing sisters."

Maud stepped closer to Mudbriar, while replying, "Technically, you're the best boyfriend." She and Mudbriar shared another kiss. Pinkie smiled, because she hadn't seen Maud be so happy, before.
