Prologue

?: *pant* *pant* *pant* I have to hurry! I must reach the portal! I have to get this through!

The girl kept repeating these words in her head as she ran down the dark corridors of the castle, hoping to find the portal before the ones looking for her eventually caught up. The only light guiding the girl towards her destination was the small orb of light floating in her left hand, while her right tightly clung to a clear, crystal pendant.

?: "You can't escape me, little one. I know where you're running to, and I'm sad to say that no one is going to help you in this little endeavor."

?: "I will get to the portal Dark One, and you cannot stop me from leaving!"

?: "Ha! We'll see about that. Guards! Go to the portal and bring her to me, now!"

The girl ran past many doors in her haste to reach her end goal, while also making sure to look at each of them in a frantic hope to not miss the correct one. Finally, after ascending a long spiral flight of stairs, she saw the door in question.

?: Finally! I found it!

The girl opened the door to reveal an ornate room decorated in murals and tapestries showing the history of the planet Cray, and in the back of the room was a large object, like a mirror without the glass, decorated in fine jewels. The portal.

?: Okay now, let's see. How did he say it worked again? Oh, right! He said to speak aloud the spell and hold my hands out towards the portal face. Alright, now I just have to-

Guard 1: "I found her! She's already reached the portal!"

?: No! Not now! I need more time! I can at least try and-

The stomping of feet behind her became louder than ever as three guards were about to storm into the room to forcefully bring the girl back to her cell. The girl spoke the spell as fast as she possibly could and chucked the pendant into the portal, not knowing where it might end up. As soon as the girl was about to open the portal wider for herself, the door burst open as the guards poured into the room. Two arms then grabbed her and yanked her backwards.

Guard 1: "Hello there little lady. Our mistress would like to have a few words with ya. Now come along, and don't make this harder than it needs to be, ya hear?"

?: "No! Let me go you nasty brutes!"

Guard 1: "Aww, how cute. Look here boys, the little lady complimented me. Well missy, compliments won't save ya here. Tie her up, boys!"

?: "Release me you disgusting shadows!"

Guard 1: "Now now, don't say anything too harsh, missy. May just have to put a gag over that pretty mouth of yours, and we wouldn't want that now, would we?"

The biggest of the guards then slung the bound girl over his shoulder and marched out with her along with the other guards. The girl's hopes of escape dashed as the door to the portal room closed, but at least she'd been able to throw the pendant safely through before the guards took her away.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The soldiers brought the girl to a large and beautiful room where many chandeliers, drapings, and ornate designs littered its entirety; the throne room. The pillars and walls were trimmed with silver and white gold, and at the far end of the room is a set of three stairs that leads to a small platform. On the platform is a white chair decorated in silver and dark blue velvet. There sat a woman with silver hair and a malicious grin.

?: "Ah, here she is! Our little escapee has arrived. What an honor it is to see you again."

?: "The honor is not mine, witch!"

?: *tsk* *tsk* *tsk* "Temper temper little princess. Is that how you address your elders? How un-ladylike. Anyway, I have a little question that I'd like you to answer for me."

?: "I will not answer you, witch!"

?: "This isn't a request, little trouble maker. Now, tell me where you sent it!"

?: "...I do not know."

?: "What was that?"

?: "I do not know where it went."

?: "You will tell me where the pendant is, or so help me I will plunge this planet into eternal darkness so quickly you won't even have time to blink!"

?: "I do not know where it went!"

The woman on the throne just sat there, forehead resting on the knuckles of her balled fist. She knew that the girl could sense her bluff about the darkness thing. Annoyed as she was, she knew continuing this way won't get her any results.

?: *sigh* "Fine, but you will tell me sooner or later. You couldn't even pose a threat if you tried to resist me, thanks to your little send off there. Guards! Take her back to her cell, and make sure she stays put this time!"

Guards: "Yes mistress!"

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Guard 2: "Here you go missy, back to your nice and cozy cell. Hope you like darkness and bugs, 'cause that's all you're gonna get."

The guards closed the door behind them and locked it, leaving the girl alone as they walked away.

?: "Please, spirits of Cray, let the pendant reach those chosen by the Messiah. Be with them, so that they may have the courage to fight. And please, keep them safe."

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The woman in the throne room walked to the center of the room, thinking aloud to herself.

?: "Ha! The little princess's magic won't be enough to turn the tide. And even if her little 'heroes' show up, what're they going to do? They'll be no match for me. I will rule Cray, just as I was always meant to do. All will bow at my feet, or be destroyed instead. *hmm* It's good to be the queen."

The woman giggled slightly to herself, as she thought about the future of her new reign as the future queen of Cray and all who lived on it.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: This is the beginning of a multi-chapter series. I'm not exactly sure how many chapters there will be, but I will surely know when the end is near. I hope people may enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoy writing it. This will be my first work, and I'm excited for people to see it.

I do not own Cardfight! Vanguard , nor do I make any money off of any stories I write.
