Albus Dumbledore sat in his usual seat at the staff table in the great hall of Hogwarts, looking out over all his students. He was filled with a depressed feeling as he noticed many of his former students were not in attendance due to the Dark Lord Voldemort's increased presence in their world. Many parents had decided not to let their children come to Hogwarts, instead opting to either home school them, or send them to another school out of the reach of Voldemort and his followers. He also noticed that the number of first years had decreased dramatically. The previous year had forty-eight new students whereas this year only had twenty-four.

As much as he felt defeated in the fact that so many parents had chosen not to allow their children to attend because of fear, giving Voldemort exactly what he wanted, Dumbledore still had hope. He had a secret that only a few of the staff new about. He knew that the tides of the battle were going to be shifting soon, and it was all because of the young man sitting up in the rafters of the great hall watching over and studying the students. He was a young man who was given credit for defeating Voldemort the first time when the young man was only a baby. He was the young man who was sent off to learn from people that understood magics that not even Dumbledore understood. He was Harry James Potter.

While the students were eating, Harry sat up in his perch passively scanning the students, getting a read on their auras and trying to get a sense of their potentials. He was looking for very specific traits that would help him in his battle against the darkness. His one problem was that he was having a hard time focusing. It was discovered early in his life that he was a poster child for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He had medication to help him, but it was not something he could take all the time. He did his best to focus, but with all the noise and magics intertwining, he was not having much luck. He decided to take another approach at another time. With no sound, Harry vanished from his perch like dust in the wind.

After the feast had been completed, Dumbledore made his way to his office. He knew what Harry had been doing and found himself curious as to what Harry had discovered. Upon entering his office, he found Harry sitting in the middle of the room, floating three feet above the ground. Dumbledore was not surprised as he had seen Harry do this many times before. Dumbledore simply walked over to his desk and sat down, waiting for Harry to come out of his meditation.

Harry took a deep breath and floated down to the ground before opening his eyes.

"Sorry about that," said Harry as he stood up and faced Dumbledore.

"It's quite alright Harry. I take it things went well in your hunt."

"Not really," replied Harry as he conjured up a comfortable sofa to sit on. "There was too much going on in there for me to get a good read on anyone. I may have been too far away because there are those with potential in the school, but they auras all seemed to be blending together. I honestly feel like I'm not ready for this."

"If you weren't ready, you wouldn't be here. Your masters would not have allowed you to come. I am still confused as to what really brought you here at this time. I understand the need for stopping Voldemort, but there is more to it than that. I may not have the knowledge that you do, and I know I am more of a novice at reading auras than you are, but I can tell from your body language that there is something else going on."

"Over the past four or five months, I have been feeling pulls at my magics. I could feel my wizarding magic pulling me here. I could feel the pull of some of my elemental magic pulling me here. Since I have been here over the past two weeks, I have found myself being able to do things easily that would have normally taken a lot more focus from me."

"Interesting. Do you know what the pulls at your magic means? Also, what kinds of things have become easier?"

"The pulls have been discussed at great length back home. The most common theory is they are the pulls of a bond. Possible soul bond or bonds. Maybe alliance bonds. No one is sure. The masters said that they could see the pulls in my aura but were unsure what it meant. This is not something that happens very often, and the few notes they found were of little to no help. As for what I can do now, well that is easier to explain, rather easier to show."

Harry stood up off his couch and faced Dumbledore.

"Now, what all do you know of what my capabilities are," Harry asked the elder wizard?

"From what I have seen and what has been told to me, you have the ability to control elemental magic. You can control it, shape it, and vanish it if need be."

"That is all true. Now, most people who follow the elemental paths have one element that they have an affinity with. The most common are fire, water, earth, air, and nature. I can control all of those, and most of the uncommon branches as well. I am the only known person who is able to wield the elements and also be proficient in what we call wand magic, or wizarding magic. There is, however, a few here at Hogwarts that also have this ability. They were just unfortunate in that they were not trained as I was from a young age, as they probably had no idea they possessed the potential."

"The idea of other magic besides what we know existing is something that most in our world refuse to believe. That is the arrogance of the older generations refusing to believe that others can do magic that they cannot."

"Misguided fools. Well, now that we got that little explanation out of the way, allow me to demonstrate some of my abilities that you have not seen."

Harry closed his eyes for a moment as he focused on his magic. He held up his right hand and a light breeze filled the room. Dumbledore watched as the wind became visible and started to take shape. For all of the magic the old man had seen in his long life, seeing new things being done still made him as excited as he was when he first attended Hogwarts. Dumbledore sat in awe as the wind took the shape of a wolf. It almost looked like a Patronus, the pure beauty of the creature was astounding. Dumbledore watched as Harry lifted his left hand and lightning was forming in his palm. He reached out and infused the lightning into the wolf, giving it more life. The wolf began to run through the air as the electricity cackled inside of it, it's eyes filled with the lightning.

"Harry my boy, this is truly amazing. This is something I would never have even dreamed as possible."

"It is something that very few can do, and up until the time I arrived here, that would have completely drained me. Now, it is simple to me. I reached out to the masters shortly after I arrived and told them about it. The only thing they said to me was to keep pushing what I think could be possible. They said that the limits of what I could do at this point were only held back by what my imagination would allow."

"I do believe that you have filled the description of the power the dark lord knows not."

"The one thing we have to do is keep my abilities from being leaked out. The group we will put together for me to train will have to be vetted and significant background checks will have to be done. For all intents and purpose, I am what muggles would call a top-secret operative."

"I can certainly understand that. If we are going to get the information you desire, we will have to bring someone into the know who is well connected and I know of one person who will be more discreet than anyone else."

"And who would that be?"

"Madam Amelia Bones, the Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement."

"And you trust her to keep anything we discuss a secret?"
"I would trust her with my life, and the lives of all my students."

"Then I guess we will have to setup a meeting soon. I really need…"

Harry stopped midsentence as he felt a familiar tug at his magic. The difference from the times before was that this pull was more powerful and had a sense of danger and urgency to it. Dumbledore could tell that something was disturbing the young man.

"Harry, what's wrong?"

"I can feel one of the bonds. Whoever they are, they are in immediate danger," said Harry, a scared tone filled his voice. He extended his right hand, focusing on the pull.

"Show me where they are," he said to his magic. He felt something forming in his palm. He opened his eyes and looked at the ball of wind swirling in his hand.

"Professor, are you able to track magical signatures?"

"I am. Why?"

"Focus on my magical signature and come find me quickly," said Harry. He took the ball of wind from his hand and slammed it into his chest. He disappeared, but to Dumbledore's shock, it was not apparition. He quickly did as he was told and began scanning for Harry's magical signature.

Up in the Astronomy tower, five seventh year boys had a single seventh year girl surrounded. She had been doing her patrols when she found the five of them up in the Astronomy tower after curfew drunk. When she confronted them about it, they became aggressive They had disarmed her quickly and surrounded her.

"Well, we can't have this half blooded bitch ratting us out. Too bad, she is very pretty. Looks like another horrible accident at Hogwarts this year," said the one who seemed to be the ringleader. "Suicide, such a horrible thing"

As soon as he said it, he shoved the woman off the tower. She had not even had a moment to react. All she could do was cry as she fell to her death. It was moments later that she realized that she should have hit the ground by that point. She opened her eyes and found herself floating in the air. She looked around and found herself face to face with a pair of bright emerald eye and a smile that could be described as infectious.

"You have nothing to fear," the man said. "You are perfectly safe with me."

"Who are you? How are you doing this," the girl asked, the fear in her voice ever clear?

"I'm Harry and as for how I am doing this, well, that is a story for a later time. Give me one moment."

She watched as Harry's eyes glowed with what looked like flames in them. She was then startled to see a phoenix form out of flames from out of nowhere.

"Find the headmaster and take him to the Astronomy Tower," he ordered the flaming creature. His eyes then changed, both looking as if a lightning storm was brewing in his eyes. Once again, the girl was startled as a very large wolf made of lightning had formed in front of her. "Get up to the Astronomy Tower and keep the attackers confined."

The girl watched as the wolf howled and then shot up to the top of the tower in a bolt of lightning. She could hear the screams of her attackers.

"What was that," she asked, her voice shaking from fear?

"Again, something to discuss later. At this moment, I think the more important thing to do is get your feet back on solid ground, although it seems like under normal circumstances, you would enjoy this floating in the air."

"Ground does sound good right now, and you are right. I love flying. I love the wind blowing through my hair."

"Well, after we get you all sorted out, maybe we can explore your love of the air more. For now, why don't you hold on tight," he said as he grabbed on to her, and placing her on his back. She wrapped her arms around his neck and watched as he somehow controlled the wind beneath them, lowering them slowly to the ground. As they landed, they were met by Professor McGonagall, whom Harry had met with when he first arrived.

"Professor, if you could be so kind to escort this young woman to Madam Pomfrey, I have some miscreants to deal with," said Harry. "I will come by after I handle this to answer any questions you may have," he said to the girl.

She and Professor McGonagall watched as the man shot up into the sky with a burst of wind launching him to the top of the tower.

"Who is he," asked the girl as she watched her hero take off.

"Special," said McGonagall. He is a very special young man. "Come Ms. Bell, lets get you to the Hospital Wing. And on our way there, you can tell me exactly what happened.
