I don't own Harry Potter as that belongs to the mighty J.K Rowling and The Inheritance Cycle is made by Christopher Paolini.

Sirius Black left the house, his one year old godson held tightly in his arms. His brother in all but blood and his wife were murdered by the Dark Lord, but somehow he was defeated by their son. His godson, Harry James Potter.

To Sirius' surprise, there were two strangers stood outside the house, a man and a woman. The woman had red hair that almost looked crimson in the light, fair skin and blue eyes, the eyes of someone much older than the woman stood before him. The man by her side had the same pale skin but with blue hair and black eyes that also had the same aged look.

"What happened here?" The woman asked calmly, her voice alone carrying enough wisdom to put Dumbledore to shame.

"I must get away from here. I have already failed most of my family, left them to that rat." Sirius told them as politely as he could, going to make his way around them.

But the man's strong arms in front of him stopped him.

"Sir, tell us what happened. My wife will not let you leave easily as she too has lost her chance to raise children due to this forsaken war with Galbatorix. He wanted nothing more than power." The man told him, the pain clear in his voice and his eyes.

"Who is Galbatorix? Another name for Lord Voldermort?" Sirius asked wearily.

"We will tell you when you hand us the child. We will adopt him now his parents have died." The woman demanded with outstretched arms.

"Very well, I will take you to his home first. And explain to you all about Harry and what that man has done to the Wizarding World." Sirius told them, passing Harry over to the woman.

Sirius placed his hands on both strangers' shoulders and they disappeared. Only a moment later, a huge man came running towards the ruined house, but it was too late, the half giant realised, to bring Harry to Dumbledore's Order.

At the Potter Mansion, the strangers stared with wide eyes out of the windows, looking at how big this house was compared to their own in their world. They had seen elves, dragons, dragon riders and more, but never anything like this.

"I can tell you two are not human either. Care to explain?" Sirius asked them with narrowed eyes.

"But how do you know?" The woman asked.

"There are wards on this house that watch intruders and are able to discern their form." Sirius explained.

"We are not really from this time. We are from the past, where dragons once roamed the world, free of worry. In our time, dragons bond with humans like yourself and become riders, helping to keep the world in balance." The woman replied with the same wisdom as before.

"Can I have your names?" Sirius asked.

"I am Vervada, a Crimson Light Red Dragoness. The oldest and wildest from my time." The woman replied, handing Harry back to Sirius.

The woman's body glowed with a bright light, warping and changing into a crimson coloured dragoness.

"And I am her mate, Iormungr. I am a blue dragon. I once had bonded to rider from the past." The man added, changing into a blue dragon in front of him.

"My name is Sirius Black and this is my godson, Harry James Potter. He was the only child of my brother, James Potter, and his wife, Lily Potter." Sirius told the two dragons.

"You should know, Sirius, I am interested in adopting the child, to make him my son, honouring his mother's request and giving that old fool a hard time finding him." Vervada told Sirius telepathically.

"I do believe the Dragoness of Vervada is right, Master Sirius. That is, under going a process using her blood to keep the old cult away from him." A house elf spoke up, a house elf who worked for the Potters.

"How do you know about Lily's request?" Sirius asked the dragoness.

"That elf let me into his mind and into his memories of his mistress and I will honour it." Vervada answered, turning back into her human form with a red dress that matched her scales in colour, her mate doing much the same.

"The mistress would be proud and she would wish for you to all be there to see the process." The house elf added, leading the group further into the house, where pictures of the Potters throughout history were displayed.

As Sirius looked at all the portraits, the one of James and Lily began to move.

"So, you have discovered our family history, Sirius?" A voice asked, the voice of someone who died not so long ago.

"What do you mean, brother?" Sirius asked, tears starting to form in his eyes.

"The Potter Family is a very old family, dating back to when the world was known as Alagaësia. We have always been a light family, we were part of the Dragon Riders of the era. Vervada and Iormungr are welcome and can keep Harry safe once they have made it back to their world. You can join them too soon after the battle." Lily told them.

The Lily in the portrait looked down at the baby Harry in Sirius' arms, the baby boy looking back up at her when he heard her voice.

"Mama?" He cooed.

"I am here, my child. I am always with you." Lily replied sadly.

"It was Peter who betrayed us to him, wasn't it, Sirius?" James asked.

"Yes." Sirius confirmed simply.

"Pape, get Remus, would you?" Lily asked the house elf.

"Of course, mistress." Pape replied, disappearing elsewhere into the house.

After a few minutes, another man appeared. He looked a little lost until he saw Sirius holding James and Lily's child beside two strangers who smelt like dragons. Two dragons and a man who Remus had once considered his friend.

"What are you doing here, Black?" Remus snarled.

"To give my godson a better chance. Away from Dumbledore and his orders and in the care of a good family." Sirius explained.

Remus only glared back at Sirius, disbelievingly.

"Remus, you know I wouldn't betray James. You know he is my brother after all he has done for me, including letting me move here when I was kicked out by my own family." Sirius told him.

"I don't believe you, Black." Remus replied threateningly.

"He is telling the truth, Remus. Peter was a Secret Keeper." James told him from the picture.

"James? Lily?" Remus asked, shocked.

"Yes, it is us. We are going to leave this time and return to a place where dragons roam free and Harry will be raised by the two people you see before you now. They are both dragons in human form." Lily explained.

"I will go too. I don't want to face Dumbledore, he keeps asking me where Harry is." Remus sighed.

"That fool won't be able to find him anymore. Not until the time is right." James told them.

The group gathered together, Sirius passing the baby to Vervada and grabbing the picture his friends were in instead. Sirius activated a portkey in his pocket, which sent them all back to Alagaësia, a city inside a mountain.
