Hello to readers. I am writing this for my own enjoyment and to help people lose themselves in their imagination and escape the harsh reality. This story will not necessarily follow the timeline and the characters will be OOC. Be warned. On that note if you do not like it please kindly move on. Thank you.

Chapter 1

That's it. Finally arrived in Forks where Bella and I will be staying with our father. Even though she came out of her own volition, granted it was because out of a sense of responsibility and wanting our free-spirited mother to be happy, Bella was walking like she was attending her death row. As for me, I loved Forks. I have always preferred cold, rainy weathers rather that the humid and hot weather of Phoenix. Let me tell you that it is not fun to live in such climates when you tend to burn your cells rather than tan.

"Come along Bella. Dad is over there. Try to smile please. I know your not overjoyed to be here but it was your decision, so assume it please."

"I know Adaline. Sorry I don't mean to be such a downer. I'll try to be optimistic."

"Thank you. As long as you try that's good Bella. Who knows, maybe in a few months you will come to enjoy Forks."

We walked towards our father who was standing near his police cruiser.

'Yes that will be an uncomfortable ride for sure', I thought to myself. Sitting in a police cruiser is not enjoyable to me. Makes me feel like a criminal and merlin only knows whose arse has been on those seats. Joy.

But other than that I was quite happy to see my dad again. Charlie Swan was a good father and he was still quite handsome for his age with his pale skin, black hair and brown eyes that Bella inherited. Ah the power of genes. Bless thee.

Contrary to Bella I still visited my dad many times a year. He was the one I related the most. I was more comfortable with his calm and reliable disposition rather than my mother's sparodic attention span and crazy spontaneous disposition.

As we reached him, I hugged him first.

"Hello dad. Hope everything's ok since the last time I visited."

"Hello Adaline and yes no need to worry, everything's been ok", he said with and awkward shrug. I half-smiled. As always, him and public displays of affection don't mesh. Granted I was not as fond of it either. But he is my father so concessions have to be made. And I really missed his comfortable presence.

"Hi dad." Bella said.

"Hey Bells. You've grown a lot since I last saw you"

"Uh yeah." Said Bella with a smile that more resembled a grimace.

And cue more awkward hug. I resisted the urge to laugh and busied myself by putting our meager luggage in the car.

"If you two are finished could we please go." I said as I got in the back car, not before casting a dubious look at the seats. With two layers, my jeans and panties, I should be okay. Thank merlin for the person who invented underwear. They really knew what they were doing by providing extra protection to the privates against questionable seating arrangements.

I got two grateful smiles from them as they entered the car. Really if I had not said that to them they would continue standing there awkwardly trying to find something to say. Finally we were on the way home. I looked out the windows as more awkward conversation carried out at the front. All the trees and grey sky really soothed me.

"So Bella I got a car for you." Dad said to Bella. I don't need a car because I already had one since last time I came to Forks. I paid for half of it and dad paid the other half. It was a small black and dark green Jimny. I loved it. It was affordable, practical and all those part-time jobs was really worth it.

"You didn't have to do this dad. I was going to get a lift from Adaline anyway."

"I wanted to Bella. And I got it from Billy Black at a good price too."

"Thanks then. But what type of car is it? Did he buy it new? What year is it?"

"Uh he did not buy it new but it really is in good condition Bella! Billy and his son Jacob worked on it and made sure it was in tip top condition. I guarantee it."

Bella looked sceptical as she said: "what type and what year?"

"It's a 1963 chevy truck. Really solid and reliable."

"Okay thanks dad," Bella said with a half-smile.

Guess she'll refrain from any judgement before seeing the truck and be grateful anyway. The rest of the journey was made in companiable silence. Really what the three of us had in common was our dislike for small talk and useless chatter. We were all three comfortable with silence and were private people really. Discuss things when things need to be discussed and the rest of the time, silence with companionship was greatly welcomed. Amen.

After a good while we finally arrived at the house. Merlin I was tired. We got out and traipsed into the house with the luggage.

"Adaline I got your room ready for you in the attic. Yours too Bella. New sheets and all."

"Thanks /Thank you dad." Bella and I said at the same time.

Bella's room was the still as when she was young. With purple tones and a window with a big tree nearby facing the front of the house. I was quite satisfied with my room in the attic. It was done in neutral colours. Frankly I needed my space and alone time. Bella was the same. The only downside is that we will have to share the bathroom. Three people sharing a bathroom will require some planning…and hygienic precautions. Hygiene is important.

' Gotta check the state of the bathroom after I finish with my luggage.' I thought to myself.

I didn't have much in my luggage anyway as I already have clothes adapted to the weather from my previous visits to Forks in the wardrobe. Afterwards Bella and I cleaned the bathroom. Call me weird but I just can't use a bathroom that I haven't cleaned or seen cleaned myself. Fortunately chores will be easy as Bella and I were responsible for most of those back in Phoenix. With me being only one year older that Bella, we grew up quite close together and had each other to rely on when in need.

We finished just in time to hear a car in the driveway. Dad was already outside greeting the guests when we got downstairs.

"Bella you remember Billy Black and his son Jacob? Adaline you already met on some of your visits."

"Mr Black, Jacob hope you are doing well." I said as greeting from the front door. Even though I came to visit dad often, I was not well acquainted with the Blacks. I was quite intuitive so I sometimes knew whether or not I could get along with someone with just a glance. And let's just say that I do not feel comfortable around them. I have a feeling that our opinions would clash. I am quite okay with the cordial relationship we have right now.

"Hi." Bella said with an awkward smile. Frankly she was more occupied looking at the orange truck that dad bought for her.

"Adaline you can just call me Billy, no need for the misters. And Bella glad to see you again." Billy said.

"Hey Bella we used to play together when we were young." Jacob said whilst approaching Bella.

"Hey, yea I remember the mud pies".

I am quite sure that's all she remembered of him.

"So Bella what do you think of the car?" Dad asked anxiously.

"It's nice dad thanks. I really like it." Bella said genuinely.

"That's good then." Dad replied

"It's a good truck Bella. It's served me well for many years. If you have any problem just tell Jacob and he will help you." Billy said

"Yups I have patched this baby up myself so I can help you anytime. It's in good condition. The only thing is that you have to mind the clutch. Just pump it twice before shifting. Come, let me show you." Jacob said.

Apart from Bella knocking Jacob with the truck door, the rest of the evening went fine. Neither Bella nor I were in the mood to cook so we had pizza for dinner. That night I fell asleep as soon as my head touched my pillow.

Gotta rest well. School tomorrow promises to be challenging. Hope we don't get stared at too much.
