Need Not To Need

Summary: A Dwarf only has a 'one'. They don't marry or fall in love with anyone else. It isn't unheard of for a family line to have the same 'one'. So when a broken Kagome ends up in Middle Earth she doesn't know how to react when thrown into a new adventure and to be the 'one' for the Durin Line.

Pairing: Kagome/Fili/Kili/Thorin (harem)

Prologue

Kagome looked around from where she sat on the ground, eyes dead to the world, no emotion. She couldn't believe everything was done.

She had finally completed it.

Bloodied hands held an equally bloody jewel, eyes still void of emotion as she looked at the innocent blood covered artifact. Think that so much death and destruction came about from this single pink marble.

That everything she held dear was gone and never coming back because this thing had come out of her body and she shattered it.

It was all her fault.

Tears started to leak down her face. Kagome sat there in the battlefield, the ground itself blood soaked. She was covered head to toe in the blood of her enemies, her friends and even her own blood, but she didn't even move from the spot she sat.

Corpses littered the battlefield, ranging from demons and humans alike, with everything in between.

Dead...everyone was dead.

She should be dead...just like them.

She shouldn't b alive...she didn't deserve it.

The tears continued to flow down her cheeks, forging a blaring path through the blood that covered almost every square inch of her body.

'Why did I live...'

Kagome closed her eyes, the jewel clasped in her hands, as she curled into herself, hands over her heart as she collapsed into herself. Maybe when she woke up she would be dead.

Maybe she wouldn't remember the pain anymore.

And maybe...maybe she would be happy again.

X-X-X

Midoriko sighed as she watched the young woman who she had watched over since her journey began, silently beg for death...beg to be happy again.

She didn't want it to end this way for her, but there was no way to fix things...but maybe she could help her. She just needed to figure out how. Kagome deserved happiness. She had done so much, she had made sure her soul didn't end up in the wrong hands.

Made sure the human race wasn't wiped out by evil...the price she had to pay for it though...Another sigh left the dead miko's lips as she continued to watch the battlefield that was now more of a graveyard.

There was one thing she could do to help the young miko...it was a big chance, taking a deep breath Midoriko made preparations, hoping that this worked.

It was her only hope.
