Chapter 1 (295 AC)
Kyra POV
The winds of winter shifted through Winterfell. A young girl, who was no more than the age of fifteen, stared out on the banks of the river. Frostbitten trees surrounded her, while the white flakes from the sky danced swiftly to the ground. She watched the river streaming downward while sitting on the dirt.
Her grey eyes moved to the direwolf, sitting submissively next to her. Athena was the direwolf's name. Kyra named the creature after her father and her brothers, Robb and Jon, discovered a litter of pups nearly a year ago. She brought her hand to the creature and stroked its black fur. The direwolf turned its head to the girl before it licked her hand, making the northern girl smile.
When she turned back to the river, her direwolf perked its ears and brought its head up, staring out in the open. She then stood tall, protecting her master when she heard a twig snap. Kyra immediately jumped next to Athena, grabbing her dark fur. She looked around, while her direwolf snarled, revealing her canine teeth in hopes to frighten any trespassers.
Her breath hitched in her throat when she heard a man's chuckle, and then she narrowed her eyes when she saw a familiar face. "Damn you, Theon!" His laughter continued as he made his way over to Kyra. "It's not funny. I thought you were a trespasser."
"Oh?" He went behind her and grabbed her waist before he inhaled her scent from her dark locks. "Well, it would be a shame if I died. Wouldn't it?"
Kyra shoved him away and walked past the river. "You always were an arse."
"Still upset about your betrothal?" Theon said catching up to her, walking by her side. "It wasn't as if I told Lord Stark to sign the marriage contract with Prince Doran."
"No, but you still like to tease me about it."
It had been three years since her father traveled to Sunspear to sign a contract with Prince Doran of House Martell. Both houses agreed to wait until Kyra was old enough to wed Prince Oberyn. She met him once when she traveled to Dorne with Lord Stark. He exclaimed how Kyra was so flat-chested that he couldn't tell if she was a boy or a girl.
"Don't worry, Tempest. Perhaps you'll come back, and then you'll forget all about him." Theon took her arm and smiled wickedly at her, but he soon let her go when he heard growling beside her.
Kyra hated the bloody nickname he called her. After her betrothed insulted her in front of everyone, she stayed in her room, trying to convince her father to end the engagement. When he told her that she may not love him at first but that she will later in life, he left her room, leaving his daughter alone. She tossed the table, threw the chairs, and scattered the trays of food all over the floor. The next morning, Septa Mordane went into her room and was completely horrified at the mess she stumbled upon. She said it looked like a storm broke out. As she said that, two Dornish handmaidens walked by and heard the Septa. They then told everyone in Sunspear, giving her the name "The Tempest". Even her betrothed mocked her when he wished her safe travels back to Winterfell with her father as he said how he wanted to say "goodbye" to her, because he was afraid if he didn't, then Kyra would take her temper out on her carriage.
"Where is my father now, Theon?"
"He's waiting for you back home, wondering where you are."
Kyra turned her head to him and saw the desire in his eyes. "Best not keep him waiting then." Before Theon could bring his arm over to Kyra's waist to draw her closer, her direwolf, Athena, growled, making the Greyjoy boy draw his arm back. Kyra smirked at her pet, scratching her direwolf's ear, heading back to Winterfell to prepare for her journey.
Eddard POV
A pride of forty soldiers prepared themselves for the journey to Sunspear. Ned's eldest child, Kyra, was promised to be married to The Red Viper. Even though he was aware of the youngest prince's reputation, he knew that Prince Oberyn would remain a dutiful husband.
Ned will never forget when his daughter was twelve, and how she rebelled against her father to not marry the prince. He told her how his wife wanted to marry his brother, Brandon Stark, but she eventually grew to love Ned. He said that Kyra will eventually love Prince Oberyn too someday, even though she did not want to believe it.
He eyed his redheaded son coming his way. "Have you seen your sister, Robb?"
"No."
Disappointment filled his eyes, but he did his best not to show it to his son. The rest of his children approached him with their mother, Catelyn Stark. Her blue eyes met his grey ones as Ned's family stood by him. He ruffled Bran's tuff of hair before he looked at Cat to gain some reassurance. When she shook her head, he let out a sigh.
"It's not fair."
"Sansa-" Catelyn was cut off by her daughter.
"Why does Arya and Jon get to go, but I can't?"
Arya smirked up at her as she said, "Because she likes us better."
"Shut up."
Ned's youngest daughter looked at Sansa with a glint in her eyes as she slapped Sansa on her arm. It wasn't enough to hurt her, but it didn't stop Sansa from squealing her name, telling her to stop. Their mother gave Robb a stern look as he and his three younger brothers were laughing. Robb then stood in between the two girls, saying, "Alright. That's enough, you two."
"She started it!" Sansa said.
Cat met Sansa's eyes as if she was challenging her own daughter to continue her antics. Sansa huffed in frustration before she looked at her little sister, who was grinning triumphantly.
"Kyra!" Bran beamed with excitement.
The family looked to see the eldest Stark child being escorted by Theon Greyjoy and two other soldiers for House Stark. Kyra was not pleased as she made her way over to her family. She refused to meet her father or her mother's eyes when she stood face-to-face with them.
"Where have you been? We have been looking everywhere for you." Cat narrowed her eyes at her eldest child.
Before she could say anything, Theon answered for her. "She was out on the banks of the river just outside of Winterfell with her direwolf."
His answer made Ned's daughter glare daggers at him. Kyra does love her family, but she loves to be by herself too. She spends her days out in the forest with her direwolf to protect her from any fierce predators. Kyra is a bold, adventurous girl, and she will belong to another man in Dorne, leaving her home forever.
"Kyra." Cat eyed her daughter. "We discussed this. You cannot go off on your own. You must stay within these walls."
The eldest Stark girl snapped back at her mother as she said, "Then explain to me why Robb or Jon get to go when I am the eldest?"
"They say the Dornish girls fight in Sunspear."
Catelyn turned to Ned's bastard child. Jon knew he should not have spoken, considering how much Catelyn hates him, but he does love his sister, and he will always be by her side like any loyal brother would.
Ned turned to Kyra. "Say goodbye to your mother, brothers, and sister, Kyra."
Kyra knelt down to Rickon's level and embraced him, giving him a quick kiss on top of his head. She did the same for Bran, but she held onto him longer than Rickon. Bran and Kyra have always been close. She taught him how to climb trees when he was four.
"Don't go, Kyra." Bran muffled through her clothes.
Her grip on him tightened as she said, "If I could, I would."
"Can't I go with you?"
Kyra looked at her mother for approval but saw how Cat shook her head, so she kissed her brother on the top of his head. "I can't."
"I'll miss you." She heard her brother sobbing through her dress.
"I'll miss you too."
Kyra didn't want to let go of her brother just as Bran didn't want his sister to leave him, but they knew they had to. Cat went to her son when they finally freed each other's embrace as she put her hands on Bran's shoulders, wiping away the tears from his eyes. Ned's eldest daughter looked at her mother. At first, they didn't say anything to each other. They stared at each other for a moment, waiting for someone to make the first move.
Catelyn took her daughter's hands with pleading eyes as Kyra smiled warmly when her mother said, "Never forget this. You are a Stark and a Tully through and through no matter where you go." They hugged each other for a moment so that Cat can kiss her head.
When they let go of each other, Kyra went to Sansa. The eldest Stark daughter stood there in front of her sister. They lingered for a moment, unsure what to do. Finally, Kyra hugged her but not for too long. It lasted for a few seconds. Ned's eldest daughters hardly tolerated each other. They would argue over the littlest things.
When Kyra went to Robb, she saw the sad look on his face. They both wanted Robb to travel with her, but Ned and Catelyn refused. Since Robb was the eldest son, he had to stay with Ned's wife to represent Winterfell while Lord Stark went with Kyra for her engagement with Prince Oberyn.
She wrapped her arms around her brother, holding for dear life. Robb's arm tightened around her, but she didn't mind. She welcomed his embrace. Robb and Kyra have always been close. Robb is probably the closest to Kyra after Bran. Every time he would go into the woods with Theon and Jon, Kyra followed them to walk. Robb told his father that one time Theon commented how her dress showed her curves, so she elbowed him in his abdomen, making Robb and Jon laugh at the Greyjoy boy grunting, holding onto his stomach. They all enjoy each other's company despite the fact that Kyra often threatens or hits Theon.
"We need to get going. It's an awfully long road ahead."
Kyra slowly let her brother go as she turned to her father. She then petted her direwolf and made her way to the carriage with Athena following her. When she went past her father, she said under her breathe, "I will fear nothing."
Jon and Arya went inside the carriage and waited for their sister to join. Kyra halted in her tracks so that she would take one last look at her family. Ned saw how her eyes wandered over to Bran. He held onto his mother's hand that was on his shoulder while his tears streamed down his cheeks.
The large direwolf went inside the carriage when Kyra did. Ned got up on his horse and pulled on the reins. He looked at his beloved's wife's eyes before he turned to Jory and nodded his head to him. Their horses trotted behind the carriages, while nearly half of the soldiers proceeded in front of the carriage and two soldiers paced themselves on each side of the carriage to keep the three Stark children safe from any harm as they traveled south.
Oberyn POV
The daughter of the sky took her rightful place on the horizon. Her rays poured onto Dorne, inviting the people to enjoy her warmth. Light is her gift to the world, and it is for anyone who cares to open their eyes in the dawn and watch the world awake. Her fire ignites to caress the people of Dorne, and it inspires everyone to taste the warmth on their skins.
The Red Viper rubbed his eyes when the sun hit his face, urging him to awaken from his slumber. His paramour's arm wrapped around his waist. He smirked down at her and unhooked her arm from him so that he could leave the bed. He went to a table that had a pitcher of Dornish wine and a goblet. Oberyn poured himself a drink, watching the wine spilling into the goblet. He brought it up to his lips and enjoyed the rich, sour taste of the Dornish red as it trickled down his throat.
"Mmhm."
Oberyn turned to the bed and watched Ellaria stir in her sleep. He put the goblet down and made his way to her. When he laid on the bed beside her, he pressed his body against her. His chest touched her bare back. The Red Viper's hand touched her shoulder and slowly glided down her golden skin, feeling every inch of her body. When his hand reached between her legs, he heard her gasp sharply. Oberyn smirked when she turned to him with her eyes open.
"Good morning, my love." Oberyn said, pressing his lips onto hers. His stubble beard tickled her mouth, but she did not mind. He knew she wanted one thing, and he would give it to her.
Their tongues danced together, moving in harmony. Her hands roamed his back, while his hand took her breast and gently squeezed, earning a gasp that left her lips. Oberyn flipped her over and plunged into her core deep within. He pushed in an out of her at a steady pace. Ellaria's pants echoed the room, and they soon grew louder with each thrust that was given. They both didn't care who heard or saw them. In fact, they welcomed them to listen and to join if they so desired.
His hand went to her womanhood as his fingers brushed her. Her moans made the great serpent smile boldly as he increased his pace. Oberyn leaned over his paramour when she tilted her head to the side and kissed him with such force. It was enough to make any man jealous of their passion. He left her lips to mark her neck as he bit down and traced his tongue over the bruise. The Red Viper's hands gripped her thighs as he thrusted into her rapidly.
Ellaria Sand moaned his name. He felt her tightening around him, so he pounded into her. He grunted as he gave her one final thrust before he spilled his seed inside. Oberyn remained inside her to ensure that she had every drop. When he pulled himself out of her, they both laid together with his arm draped over her, bringing his lover closer. She placed her head on his chest and stared at her fingers as they traced circles across his chest.
Words cannot describe how wonderful it was to have her. To love a woman became one of Oberyn's best things in life, and every man and woman had to fall behind his paramour before he could fuck them thoroughly. Nothing would change that. Not even his soon-to-be wife, Kyra Stark.
She was merely a girl when they met during the marriage contract. His brother, Prince Doran, and Ned Stark signed it. He was amused by her wit and quick temper, but she did not look like a full-grown woman. The wolf girl will please him. He knew this after hearing her how she spat hateful words to her Septa and threw the furniture to the floor, but the one thing that he enjoyed the most were her eyes. They were vibrant and invigorating. Her eyes burned with such blaze and radiance. The Red Viper couldn't wait until she came to Sunspear. He would show her all of the pleasantries in Dorne and see what else that made her blood boil.
