Todoroki Touya, looked around his room; everything was ready. He had a few changes of clothes in his bag. His room looked like it had been trashed and he'd been abducted. He couldn't stay here! Not with that monster!

"I'm sorry Fuyumi. I'm sorry Natsuo. Sorry, Shoto. Sorry, Mom." The eldest Todoroki thought as he opened the window and jumped out. He paused, he ducked behind a bush as Smoke and Ember walked by.

One of the perks of being a Pro-Hero with a lot of sidekicks; they made good security guards. However, in Toya's case it was a detriment. If they saw him; they either didn't care or would report it later on. Endeavour's sidekicks were never allowed into the house when Endeavour himself was home. The perfect crime is the one that no-one knows about.

Toya moved; from his position it was sixty yards to the gate. There were eight sidekicks in total. Two on the front of the gate; two in unmarked cars somewhere outside the compound with four on the inside.

The gate was partly opened, this was it. Toya sprinted; the gap closed drastically. "Fifty yards, forty yards, thirty, twenty, ten!" Toya counted. He heard the calls of 'STOP!' and 'GET HIM!'.

He saw a plume of smoke rocketing towards him; of his father's sidekicks Toya liked Smoke the most. If only for the main reason that Smoke, only saw Endeavour as someone who paid his wages. There was a professionalism between the two; but Toya had seen utter fury in the gas masked sidekicks lenses. If anything Smoke guessed there was more going on.

The smoke coalesced and the sidekick himself appeared. "Where'd you think you're going young Toya."

"I can't stay here. Not whilst after what he's done." The boy blubbered.

"Smoke, is everything okay? Over." That was Ember, and unfortunately less a sidekick and more of an Endeavour lickspittle. If it wasn't for the fact that her Quirk spark allowed for Smoke to boost his own Quirk; Smoke would have kept his distance.

Endeavour had learnt to keep Smoke and Burnin' apart. Burnin' was too short-tempered and expected everything to be to spec and on a clock; Smoke was laid back and meditative in his methods. Smoke was a Sidekick with a PhD and a Masters in Forensic Chemistry and Criminology. Endeavour knew that Smoke not only juggled cases in Endeavours Hero Agency, but assisted the other sidekicks in their own caseloads and consulted the Police on Arson related crimes.

The two worked well for him but never together. Endeavour also knew that in Hero work; a young teen with a Quirk and mind like Smoke's was a hot commodity. Thus the Flame Hero more or less let Smoke do his own thing. Unfortunately for Endeavour, this meant this.

"Smoke to Ember, Over. Everything's good. We're going to want to get Spark out of bed to check the pressure sensors."

There was a grumble and the words of 'Insufferable asshole' and 'Ill-tempered shit'. "Would you rather me have to get the Boss out of bed or come back from Patrol due to this?"

"No, no, no…We all know it'd be in the firing line. We both know you're the more valuable one."

Smoke snorted at that "Smoke out." He turned to Toya and saluted him with two fingers. Toya took his que and slid through the gate.

(Outside)

Toya breathed a sigh of relief. He was out of the compound, he now needed to avoid the four outside. Unfortunately for Endeavour; Toya remembered the unmarked cars belonging to the Endeavour Agency, as for the two outside, they weren't paying attention at all.

Toya grinned; he'd made it. With that he slid into the night. Unbeknownst to him, he was being watched. This particular watcher, decked out in black, he was a new hero. He was the Inferno Hero: Nova; it would be debateable over who had a stronger Quirk but that didn't matter.

Nova, watched. He'd read the files and made the connections between Todoroki Rei nee Fukuyo and Todoroki Enji. It stunk of Quirk marriage; despite Endeavours secrecy about his private life, one could get information for the right price. Nova knew that Todoroki Toya; possessed a very destructive fire quirk, hotter than his fathers but his body couldn't contain effectively. Nova snorted; Toya was the same as him.

"Enough wool gathering, you keep an eye on the boy. If need be adopting him, he's Edwards age and no kid should be forced to run away like this." Nova or Harry Potter, decided. He'd protect Toya and the moment the kid took a step towards villainy, he'd step in.

It turned out Harry wouldn't have to wait long. It was only a matter of days as the thirteen old, now grimy and looking like he'd been sleeping rough for a while. For Toya it had felt like eternity but in reality it had been nearly a week; enough time to try and do something utterly reckless.

Toya had found a 7/11; and from his new location of an abandoned apartment, not far from it had started to watch it. Memorise the patterns, look for the cameras. Hunger and desperation gripped the young man, as he cautiously built up his power ready to unleash it if necessary.

As he stalked towards his target, he didn't notice the black gloved hand grab him by the shoulder. Unfortunately for Toya, the hand hit one of his healing, but still raw burns. Toya hissed, his hand ignited, blue flames appeared and the hand let go. "Who are you? What do you want? Did the bastard send you?"

"I'm Nova, as for what I want…to help or stop you from making a mistake. Which bastard? Lad, I've pissed off enough people by getting stuff done upon moving here…you're gonna need to be more specific."

"The Number Two."

Toya watched the newly named Nova, snort derisively "Nope. Even if he did, I wouldn't. As for you, kid, what name are you calling yourself?"

A name came to mind "Dabi…You can call me Dabi."

"Cremation, huh? That's some serious firepower you've got their Dabi, probably trumps my humble Nova Quirk; which is arguably ranked equal to Hellflame."

Toya growled at the name of his father's quirk "Now, what do you want?"

Nova grinned and removed his mask, revealing shaggy black and messy hair and warm glittering green eyes "Now, Dabi…or Todoroki…whichever you want me to use…Don't give me that look, whipper snapper; you're a few decades too young in trying to deceive me. Now, I want to be honest with you. I want to help you. That help comes as a result of one or two choices."

Toya looked at the unmasked Nova and nodded "Number One: You take my hand; I get you a nice hot meal, shower, change of clothes and a place to sort your head out. Number Two: you go into that store; hold it up, eventually you'll lose control of your Quirk and the place and the people go up in flames. I then have no choice but to bring you in on attempted robbery, seven counts of Quirk misuse, murder or manslaughter of the first degree, squatting…Then everything in your head will come spilling out impacting your father."

"That's all I want…I want to see my father pay for his torturous training."

"But what of your siblings or future siblings? It'll be exceptionally rough on them if you hit that store."

Toya nodded, Nova sat on the street next to the young man and Toya joined him "Nova…can I choose Option One…I'm Todoroki Toya…I want to be a hero but I don't want to be my fathers instrument to be Number One."

Nova looked at Toya "Nice to meet you, Todoroki Toya. I'm the Nebula Hero: Nova; or Potter Hadrian; please call me Harry. It's a cultural barrier that I've learnt to compromise on."

Toya nodded and the pair shook hands "Harry, what happens now?"

"I train you, if you want. I'll adopt you…if you want. I'll even let you crash at my abode unconditionally and I'll introduce you to my Godson."

"Your Godson!? What's his Quirk."

"Chameleon Hunter…It's entertaining nine times out of ten. The other one time under a Full Moon, he hits like a Strength Quirk."

Toya grinned "Allergic to Silver? Like the Pre-Quirk fantasy of Werewolves?"

"He is actually. The idea of Lycanthropy…it's not wrong. There is a science to it but one that is not suitable for this location or your age. So come, Todoroki Toya…let us put your unpleasant life where it belongs in the past."

Toya grinned and as he looked in the window behind him, he saw a lankily built young man, with longish black hair spiked up and hung low over his eyes. The eyes were turquoise and thin in appearance and heavily lidded. However, what caught Toya's eyes were the staples and hooked piercings holding patches of gnarled, wrinkled, purple skin that covered his body looking like something out of an old horror story. The man in the mirror, nodded to Toya before fading away.

As it faded away, Toya noticed a smudge with the words 'Toya dead, Dabi lives'.

"No, Dabi…I will not become you. I will not be a patch-work of disaster. You, Dabi, will become my mantle as I become a Hero. Blue Flame Hero: Dabi, the Cremation Hero: Dabi…First sounds weird and the other sounds villainous."

Harry grinned as they walked together "Could just be 'Dabi'. No Hero intro like 'Erasure Hero' or even 'Flame Hero'."

Toya grinned slightly. Thankful for the intervention.
