"And then he asked if Luke Skywalker brought him home, and said he had, um, recovered, so I think they must have got into a fight too!" Biggs overheard his sister's tattling grow louder and two pairs of footsteps coming towards him, but he was too annoyed to care. Why the kriffing hells did they shave his mustache! Surely that would have had no effect on his recovery!

Stang, it had taken months to grow that out, and it was looking so good too. Without it he still just looked like a kid.

"Biggs, what've you gotten up to last night?" his dad, Huff Darklighter, stomped into the room. Biggs knew that his dad could be a bit of a jerk, and most in the community weren't huge fans, but he had always been a good father. "Dera says you snuck out and went drinking with that Skywalker kid, then got into a fight. Is that right?" his dad's stereotypically blue Tatooine eyes bored into him slightly suspiciously.

"Well no, of course not, I only just woke up, how could I have gone anywhere. Besides, how would I have gone out with Luke, he's still with the fleet isn't he?"

His father furrowed his eyebrows at that, seemingly unsure how to respond, but Dera was only too quick, "What fleet? Where's Luke gone?", did they not know that Luke had joined the rebellion as well? They didn't seem to know anything. Kriff, did the rebels just dump him here without a single word of explanation for his family?

"Oh, for water's sake Biggs, how much did you two have to drink last night? Did you and Luke try to join up at the recruitment station or something? Lucky you're underage and they turned you down, or I'd be having words with the Navy right about now..." the senior Darklighter joked, but he was clearly worried, and put his hand on Biggs' shoulder.

"I'm not underage, I'm nearly twenty-two... have you gone suns-crazy or something?" that was evidently not the right thing to say, as Biggs' sister started laughing, while his dad just looked even more worried, and started staring deeply into his face, as if trying to x-ray into his skull and look for brain damage. A few seconds went by in silence, before Biggs let out a brief "What?"

"Biggs, boy, you're seventeen... Did you get your head hit in this fight of yours?"

"There was no fight! I don't even remember last night! The last thing I remember was..." and suddenly it hit him. He was dead after all. This was his Heaven, back home with his family, before he had to worry about the Rebellion or the Empire, when he could just hang out with his friends at Tosche Station or go on a race through the desert... "I died." he heard somebody in his voice say as everything went sort of numb, and distantly noticed his dad telling his sister to get out of the room.

"Are you alright? What happened?" he felt hands pulling him up and into a hug, and Biggs couldn't help but laugh, though it was a sad one. "We need to get you to a medcenter. Something's wrong, I don't know if you drank too much or if you're hurt, but..."

"I'm not hurt. I'm dead. I died, dad! They shot me down! They got me..." he could feel the tears begin to flow, and his body shaking, but he didn't care, "I was up there with Luke dad, just me and Luke against the whole Empire! And he made it, I know he made it, Luke blew the kriffing thing up! But they got me..."

"What did Luke blow up?" Biggs' dad sounded hesitant, confused, and worried all at once.

"The Death Star." he snorted, of course they hadn't heard of it, they're just creations based on his imagination, or his memory, or something, from when he was a kid. "We did it dad. We avenged Alderaan, we showed them. They got most of us, hell, they got me! But I know Luke did it. He got them back! I know he did."

"Sounds like a hell of a dream..."

"It wasn't a dream. If anything this is the dream." Biggs looked down at the shorter, older man, who had yet to release him from the hug. "But this is a good dream. I'm glad I'm here, I always pictured... just... well nothing, like being asleep."

Obi-Wan Kenobi had now spent almost twenty years on this barren clump of sand they called a planet, and just when he thought he had gotten to know the place, that morning there had been a very strange surge in the Force, a sudden burst of light and energy somewhere nearby that had spread outward as a wave, washing over him in his desert hovel. It had came out of nowhere and was now shining for anyone who could to see. He had instinctively shielded the Light, in attempt to prevent it's beacon from spreading too far and alerting one of the Empire's inquisitors, or even Vader or the Emperor himself.

It wasn't a particularly strong or bright light, not like Luke, but it was there, and it was most definitely Light. But it was also new, and unusual. Was it a Jedi? Had another survivor found him after all these years? Or perhaps it was a Force-sensitive youngling discovering their abilities, or something of that nature.

Whatever the source of the light, he had quickly confirmed that it did NOT come from Luke. He had easily sought out Luke's Force presence, and found the teen to be as normal, somehow radiating both boredom and excitement. There had been no change to his powerful, untapped presence since yesterday. No shift in emotion or mood to show that anything out of the ordinary had occurred.

His duty was to watch over Luke. To guard Anakin's son. And, because this unknown factor could change things, he would need to go and investigate it, and then if necessary take the appropriate actions to ensure that his place and Luke's were secure on this planet.

It wasn't hard to pinpoint the epicentre from whence the Force waves had sounded, even if he didn't know what he would find at the spot. It was perhaps a five-hours trek through the dunes and rocks of the Jundland Wastes, near the direction of the Lars farm and Anchorhead, though slightly more to the north. Perhaps it was on some moisture farm, or in a Tusken camp.

Obi-Wan gathered his supplies, pulled his hood up over his head, made sure that his lightsabre was attached at his belt, and then began the journey. Force, but he sometimes wished he had kept a speeder or swoopbike, even if he was supposed to be playing the role of a crazy old hermit, it would have made travel a lot easier. It was a long walk to wherever he was headed, but not too long.

Just a bit under half-way through the journey, he passed the outer limits of the Lars property, and stopped a moment to feel the presences of those inside properly. Beru was busying herself with some work in the dwelling, possibly cooking or cleaning, she was the very image of a traditional wife after all. Owen seemed frustrated, like he was trying to loosen a bolt on one of the vaporators and it just wouldn't budge. Luke, well Luke just seemed happy, probably tinkering with the engines on the old Skyhopper that Owen had bought him earlier in the year.

He had seen Luke flying it through the desert a few times, and had been easily able to see the similarity in Luke's piloting skills to that of his former Padawan. He was a natural, it must be a Skywalker trait. The excessive speed and acrobatics of Skywalker piloting had never been fully to Obi-Wan's liking, but thankfully Luke seemed at least slightly less suicidal when behind the controls, though perhaps that was only because of the limitations of his craft.

He wondered if Leia had inherited the same Skywalker genes, or if she was more like Padme. Since handing her off to Bail Organa that night, he had wondered what Leia's childhood was like; safe, loved, sure, and very different from Luke's. They will make the oddest pair when they finally meet.

He absent-mindedly stroked his beard for a moment and pictured the day, before continuing on towards the unknown Force presence. Not far to go now, he reminded himself, and let his mind wander a bit as he walked, it did get awfully boring out there in the desert after all, so one really couldn't be blamed for letting their mind wander.

And so it was that he found himself rather surprised to be snapped back to reality a few hours later, realising that he was now extremely close. The presence was now very bright, and he could see it clearly. It was most definitely a presence, attached to a person, and not just the afterglow of a Force-related event, whatever that may have been. He was coming up to a moisture farm, rather well off looking, with droids attending to several vaporators on the property.

He had never been to the place before, but from the logo stamped on all of the droids and vaporators, he could tell that it was the property of Huff Darklighter. Or at least, one of the properties. The man had purchased a swathe of land across the region over the years that Kenobi had been on Tatooine, and acted as landlord to the tenant farmers. But this, this particular place seemed to be in too good condition to be one of these, this must be the Darklighter home itself.

He had never interacted with any of the Darklighters, save for the young one, Biggs, who was a friend of Luke. And even calling that interaction was a stretch, he had merely seen the boy from a distance a few times while watching Luke, and Obi-Wan had said good day to the boy once in Anchorhead when he went into the village for supplies and conveniently bumped into Luke's friend group.

He could feel the Force presences of the residents, and the mysterious new one, in the main dwelling pit below and easily made his way past the droids and into the entrance dome, finding the stairs down to the lower levels and quickly arriving at the bottom. Using the Force to mute his presence and remain unnoticed, he stood back and observed the scene, the Darklighter family all seemed to be standing around with various looks of shock and confusion, while the patriarch of the family held tight to his son, young Biggs, who was most definitely the source of the new Force presence.

How interesting.

The boy had seemed completely ordinary the last time Obi-Wan had seen him, with the normal, rather dull light presence of a non-Force-Sensitive human. He had radiated the typical vague happiness of a young man out and about with his friends. What had happened? Looking at the young man now, it was obvious that something had happened, the previous dull presence had been completely replaced; this one seemed stronger, perhaps more mature, and certainly more attuned with the Force.

Was it possible that he had been Force sensitive and Obi-Wan had never noticed? He had never exactly looked for it, but surely he would have noticed another Force signature so close to Luke's own. But then, this wasn't a usual Force signature; as he inspected Biggs' he quickly found several differences, where the presence of a Jedi came from within and filled the body with a bright glow, escaping like a torch to shine for all to see, this Light seemed to be... surrounding the young man from the outside of his body and seeping in, as if it was a protective shield granting him strength.

"Hello there."
