Fear: Ahsoka, my amazing padawan
Ahsoka
"Snips, please you're my only hope." My master was gone yet he wasn't. This was all so confusing, after being returned to the temple by the clones Master Obi-Wan and I haven't been sent on a mission. The council says we need more time to heal, but we barely received any scratches. My thinking was that we were being grounded deliberately as we were too close to Master Skywalker to look at the clues objectively.
Despite all of this I knew it might also be because our emotions were effectively clouding our vision. Because of this, I decided that meditating might help clear my mind as well as gain some insights into what the next step would be in order to find my master. For a long time, I stayed cross-legged on the floor of my master room in our apartment thinking that maybe being in his environment might help.
Thinking about it I just started to laugh as I remembered my master trying to teach me to meditate, but he was never very good at it. In the end, after trying and failing so many times he asked his master to teach me which he did, though he made Anakin sit through most of them as well.
Reflecting on that reminded me of all the great memories that he and I made together. That sensation brought me out of my meditation, looking around Skyguys room it was littered with droid parts as well as things he used to maintain his cybernetic arm. Getting up from the ground I walked over to his workbench. His tools were semi-organized; at least the ones that were specifically for his arm were placed in a separate area. My master also gave me a case of tools for my 15th life day as he was teaching me the art of mechanics. He thought it only fair that I had my own set to work with. Picking one of my tools I started to remember the first time he and I used them.
"Master this isn't working." Anakin smiled at his padawan he was teaching her some tricks he learned just in case her comlink got busted or something else happened.
"It's all right my padawan, you just need to have patience. The comlink is broken so there is no way to get a message out. However, there is a chance for you to get a signal out even if it is just a sound."
"That repeats, which means that I can use this to create an electrical surge on this comlink and then."
Beep Beep
"Well done Snips, now the closer the comlink linked to yours is the louder the sound will be."
"Thank you, master."
"You're welcome Snips."
Returning to reality I thought about a lot of different things. What if he never returns? What's going to happen if he dies? All these questions raced through my head causing me to lose focus. I didn't know what to do so I did the only thing I could.
"Master!"
Athena
After finding nothing more on Amuerus, the council ordered us to return. Once we returned to the temple my padawan and I reported to the council for probably the first time I was grateful for Obi-Wan was not among those gathered in the room. After the meeting, I was a mixture of a lot of emotions so after allowing Natalie to return to our quarters I decided to go on a walk. Walking always allowed me to clear my head and it didn't hurt that I knew the temple like the back of my hand. Which helped a lot as sometimes I lose myself in the monotony of Temple life. Stopping for a second I felt a pull from the force and glancing around at my surroundings I found that I was in the dorm rooms more specifically I was right in front of Anakin and Ahsoka's room. That's when I heard it and also felt it.
"Master!" I knew that voice all too well and immediately I entered the room and felt out Ahsoka's force signature finding her inside Anakin's bedroom collapsed on the floor.
"Ahsoka!" running to her side I immediately checked her pulse and was rewarded with a steady heartbeat. Gently rolling her on her back I went to wake her.
"Padawan, you need to get up."
"Mmh, Skyguy?"
"No, I'm not Master Skywalker, I'm Master Tarkington. Do you remember me? I've been on some of the missions with you and you're Master."
"Yes, now I remember. Umm?"
"Do you want to tell me what caused me to find you like this in your Master's bedroom?"
"Right, umm I was trying to connect with him through the Force and I thought that being around his belongings might help me get a better connection with him." As she explained I got her off the floor and to the bed. "Yet everything reminded me of him, he taught me everything I know about machines right at that table. Even got me a tool kit for my 15th Life day."
"So what happened next?"
"I was touching one of my tools when I had a flashback to one of the first things Master Skywalker taught me. Then all these questions raced through my brain like, what if he never returns? What am I going to do?"
"Hey it's ok," Holding her close I sent waves of encouragement to her knowing full well that I was feeling the same way. "I'm guessing that is when you screamed."
"Whenever I didn't understand anything Skyguy was always there even if he didn't have the answers right then he would work hard to find the answers and tell me in a way that allowed me to gain a better understanding of it. That's why I called for him even though I know that he isn't here and quite possibly doesn't know I need his help."
"He knows Ahsoka he knows, your bond with your master is still there and even though it has been subdued it is still there."
"Master Tarkington" Ahsoka looked into my eyes and I could see that she was very worried.
"Yes."
"Do you think that the Council has given up on finding Master Skywalker?"
"I don't know Ahsoka, I honestly just don't know." I held the young Tortuga close, sending waves of comfort to her knowing that it might be the only way to get her to go to sleep. Laying her down on her master's bed I pulled a blanket out from the closet and covered her with it.
"Sleep well, little one." Silently walking out of the room Athena noticed Obi-Wan just entering the living room.
"Athena? What. . ." Pursing her lips she placed a finger to her lips and waited until the door finally closed behind before speaking.
"Ahsoka screamed out in fear for her Master and I just happened to be right outside the room so I entered and calmed her down. She's sleeping now."
"Thank you, right now I'm very glad that you were near."
"And that I had your access codes."
"Yes and that too." The two smiled and walked over to the couch to cuddle and watch the last streams of the light escape of the horizon of Coruscant. However, although everything felt at peace the sister couldn't help, but feel scared for her brother. In that way, the two of them fell asleep holding each other close.
