Guardian of the Realm: Chapter one

Well this is something I have had on my mind, I recently rebuilt my decks and felt that this type of story would be an interesting concept that I have not seen done, but I have not read all the different stories made for Yugioh so I might be wrong.

Warning this chapter is a bit rushed in the timing of the story. It covers most of the first season of YUGIOH Dual Monsters. Mainly from the point of view of a person that was not in the original series.

:Story Start:

Kame Game Shop-After the duel between Yugi and Kaiba

After the sun had set, four middle schoolers sat in front of a television planning to watch the finals. The only girl in this group wore a pink school uniform and has short brown hair, this is Tea Guardner. The first of the boys has darker skin and a pointed hair style while wearing the blue boy version of the school uniform, this is Tristan Taylor. The second boy is a half Japanese half American teen with dirty blond hair, this is Joey Wheeler armature duellist. Finally with a anime hair style that translates to main character, with three colours and pointy, wearing an Egyption styled pendant of an upside down pyramid with an eye. This main character is Yugi Motto and technically one of the main characters of this story.

They watched the television as the announcer spoke, "Ladies and Gentlemen we come to the final match of the tournament. The competitors are Weevil Underwood the Insect duellist versus the man who beat the creator of the game, undesired favourite to become the next king of Duel Monsters, Drake 'Dark' Fate!" the crowd cheered on Weevil while booing Drake.

Joey simply asks, "Why does everyone hate this guy? He would have to be great at the game if he is in the finals."

Yugi frowns before saying, "Well when he beat Maximillion Pegasus apparently he did it by using random cards and made a side bet with the Creator of Duel Monsters. That bet was a set of cards for him to use in future duels. He apparently won using a simple method of not letting the man play and won in a single move, forcing a token to be played on Pegasus' side of the field and skipping Pegasus' turn while ensuring the token could not defend himself. That is why he got the name 'Dark Fate,' because he dictated the game from the first move."

Joey then asks, "So he used cards that are rare enough to end the game instantly?"

"Nope, the cards he used were all very common compared to the deck Pegasus used," Yugi says, "Cards that were never considered to work together was used. Oh it is starting."

That was when an elderly man entered holding a package for Yugi but then joined the four teens in watching the Regional Tournament.

Regional Championship-Weevil Underwood versus Drake Fate

Weevil Underwood, wearing green coat and an overall buggy appearance with bug like yellow glasses. He stood on a red platform that was elevated over an empty tennis court size field. Opposite him is a teen with brown hair, amber eyes wearing a black jacket that reached his ankles, this is Drake 'Dark' Fate, who ignored everyone that glared or hated him. Though a hidden feature that this teen boy has is that on his left hand is a gold ring with the Eye of Horus.

They both placed their Brown Decks and Extra cards to the side opposite.

Basics of Duel Monsters at this stage

-Each turn the duellist needs to place a single monster on the field.

-Each side has two thousand life points

-When one duellist's life points reaches zero.

-Only one normal summon per turn, unlimited special summons.

Back to the duel

Weevil started the duel by summoning a basic insect with one hundred attack points and played one card face down. Weevil then spoke, "All I can do is play this weak card a pity that it will be destroyed."

Drake glared at Weevil before drawing a card and saw a monster that would help with the face down, "Play the monster Elemental Hero WildHeart and I play the equip card, Cyclone Boomerage and the Heated Heart, these two cards increase my monsters attack by five hundred points each and I will have Elemental Hero Wildheart attack your basic insect."

"You fool you have triggered my trap card!" Weevil starts only for nothing to happen.

Drake speak up, "What you fail to understand is that my Wildheart is immune to trap cards. That means that your one hundred attack point insect is going to be destroyed and you take twenty four hundred damage to your life points." This caused the crowd to shout and boo at him as he won the duel.

Weevil almost had a panic attack before controlling himself, as he politely clapped while a white haired man whose hair covered the left side of his face, wearing a red three piece suit and the man was holding a large trophy cup. This is Maximillion Pegasus creator of Duel Monsters and the owner of Industrial Illusions. Pegasus simply says, "Congratulations on your victory Drake Fate, with this victory I invite you to my Tournament on my private island. The prize will be either a cash prize or one request from me personally."

Drake Fate accepted the prize and walked to his waiting room where his belongs were held. Once the door was shut he took several deep breaths before he says aloud, "I hate tournaments," he then dropped the trophy without care only for an evelope to take his notice as it came out said cup. Drake kneels down and opens the letter.

The letter reads:

Dear Drakey boy

I value our friendship and believed that you should be made aware of my intentions, this tournament is to lure those with Millennium Items. I request that you come as well as the amount of magic that will lure those you defend our realm from will invite themselves for the same items.

With that in mind accept this new card and come to my tournament.

From the keeper of the Millennium Eye.

Drake finished reading the letter before noticing the card that he received it was a normal light attribute monster with seven stars, 2500 attack and 2100 defence, it's name Elemental Hero Neos. Drake looks at the card and with a frown adds the card to his deck and says, "So you are expecting trouble Pegasus. I hope you find an answer to what you truly want." He then noticed a box on his chair holding a purple fingerless glove, with two stars that attaches to the glove along with two cards, 'Kings Right hand,' the card states the cash prize while also pictured was gold. The other card was white and says, 'Kings opposite hand' stating the prize of a single request for the creator of the game.

Drake walks over to his table and collects the cards he did not use against Weevil and proceeds to place a golden greave on his left wrist that had a large blue gem on the top that glowed with his ring before he covered the item and proceeded to lift a satchel onto his back as he proceeded to head out the tournament grounds out the back entrance as all the other competitors were speaking with the press.

Drake walked into the car park where a black and red custom bike was ready for him where he places his pack into bag storage on the back wheel. He took a seat on his bike and waved his hand over the 'dash' of the bike creating what appeared to be a duellist field before speeding out the car park. The gem in the bike glowed as a voice spoke up, "You did well, Guardian, but we have another assignment for you."

Drake parked his bike inside an alley and asks, "Duellist Kingdom?"

The voice paused before saying, "You were already invited?"

"Yeah, even gave me a card to use," Drake admits before asking, "Who is the target."

"We don't know," The voice admits and says, "We know that this tournament will be targeted but we don't know which realm will be lured to the tournament. You are advised not to hold back this time," Drake's eyes narrowed as the voice then says, "The sages say that after this tournament more you are going to be very busy in the future."

"We should really meet in person then," Drake states to the voice as his bike glowed and went into his left forearm.

The voice then spoke up again, "Unfortunately that cannot happened until you grow in your power. Until then continue to protect your world and we will meet when the time is right." The voice became silent as Drake walked over to a blank wall and proceeded to wave his arm creating a doorway that he stepped into where a simple room was seen along with a desk holding a bunch of cards with a single chair while on the opposite side of the room was a large double sided bed and another separate door that leads to a bathroom. Drake looked through all his cards and decide to select a new deck of sixty cards for him to use if he was going to be fighting at full strength then he needed all the cards he needed to use. Where he removed some cards and added some cards along with one that did not really fit in a normal sense but would do what he needed it to do. That night he would feel a darkness that felt evil but would ignore it as it was familiar to him, for this time he would ignore but next time he would make his presence known.

Two weeks later-Domino City Docks-Five o'clock in the afternoon.

Drake rode his bike to an alley close to the docks where it would vanish into his wrist gauntlet while throwing his pack over his shoulder. As he walked into the Docks and ignored all the other duellists commenting on how villainous he is while hiding behind hero cards. Drake walked over to the gangplank where he sees Joey Wheeler wearing a green jacket while also being held by some guards when he tried to get onto the boat, only for Yugi to arrive and give Joey one of his two star chips. Drake waited for the two to get on the boat. Once they were onboard Drake walked over to the gang plank and showed his Star Chips and was aloud entrance while being directed to his own personal room. Drake looked at the room and saw that there was plenty of room for six people to share. He placed his bag down on one of the beds and decided to take a nap until the ship left port.

An hour after departure-Top deck

Drake was walking along the deck and found where he sees the two from the gangplank along with Weevil Underwood. Weevil had his back facing Drake as Weevil had five of Yugi Moto's cards. Weevil was about to throw the cards into the ocean only for Drake to suddenly grab his wrist and removes the cards from Weevil's hand where he says, "Exodia the Forbidden one? But I doubt this belongs to you."

Joey spoke up, "Hey give Yugi back his cards!"

In response Drake looked at the cards before handing them to Yugi and saying, "I suggest that you avoid using those until you really need them," Drake starts walking away.

Yugi looks at Drake and says, "Thank you," Drake waved him off as he walked until he bumped into Tea and Tristan knocking him down to the ground. They went to speak with Yugi and Joey while Drake continues to walk away without issue.

Joey looked at the direction that Drake went and comments, "I thought that he was the bad guy?"

Yugi frowns before saying, "We may have to duel him to really find out the truth," he then yawns while saying, "Well we better head to our cabin get a good night's sleep for the tournament." They walk along the side of the ship until they find Yugi's room and enter to find Drake napping on his bed. Yugi simply says, "We must have the wrong room."

Drake with his eyes still closed responds with, "This is not a big ship, some duellist have to share," They all nod before entering the room. Drake opens on eye and says, "Don't let the guards know that two of you are stowaways, they will have the right to throw you off the boat to swim back."

Tea and Tristan freaked at the thought before Joey asks, "What makes you say they are stowaways, maybe they just have their Star Chips in their pockets."

Drake closes his eye and says, "This coming from the guy who could only join when his friend gave himself a handy cap for the tournament."

Joey was held back by Tristan as Yugi asks, "What do you mean?"

Drake showed the glove that both he and Yugi received for the tournament and says, "Ten slots, two chips pretty simple and knowing Pegasus he probably included the field idea for this tournament. So I suggest before your first duel in the tournament you figure out which field is best suited for your deck it could save your life." Drake then appears to go to sleep as he waits for the ship to dock with Pegasus' island and leaves the four teens to their own devices.

Tea comments, "Well he is helpful, even when he is being a jerk."

Joey and Tristan nod in agreement while Yugi frowns and says, "Well he may appear to be a bad person but he saved the Exodia cards that Grandpa gave me," he looks at those very cards and realises another thing that Drake mentioned, "But I guess I shouldn't use them until I duel Pegasus," Everyone looked at him in shock as Yugi continued, "Well how far would it really be if I won every duel using Exodia. It may be an instant win, but it requires luck to draw all the pieces unless you build the deck to summon Exodia each time. So I am going to modify my deck for this tournament," with that Yugi walked to the other side of the room and started modifying his deck.

Joey for his part went with Tristan and Tea to see what he could do to modify his deck while being limited to the cards that he had until Tristan shared some of his cards that he had. With that Joey each received a card from both Tea (Despell) and Tristan. (Lava Ogre)

Next day-After the ship reached the docks.

Draco was the last off the ship as he proceeded to follow everyone up the steps. He looked up the couple hundred steps and sees that Yugi and his friends are half way up the steps while Drake was just reaching the base. Drake started walking up the steps and ignored the comments of everyone he passed. Though towards the top of the stairs he heard people comment about the runner ups of the Regional Tournament, Weevil Underwood second placed. Next was Rex Raptor, a teen wearing a creamy brown vest over a green jacket third place duellist with a dinosaur desk. They then mention the one that came in Fourth, Mako Tsunami, sea duellist, wearing Asian fisherman clothes and holding a fishing spear. Drake then hears comments about Seto Kaiba only to hear that he had lost to a rookie duellist, Yugi Moto.

Drake reached the front entrance to the castle where they proceeded to wait for Maximilian Pegasus arrived on a balcony. He ignored the Duellists staring at him and making comments. Though Drake had to smirk when Joey simply comments loudly, "Seriously what is the deal with these people? All this hate on a guy for winning a duel?"

That was when Maximilian Pegasus arrived on the balcony above the entrance and began to speak, "Welcome Duellists to Duellist Kingdom. You are the best duellists around the world for the ultimate prize of becoming the King of Games, along with either a cash prize and or a single request from me. In one hour the sky will be filled with colour and you may begin! So prepare your decks and choose your opponents wisely," with that everyone disburse either down the stairs or around the castle where more steps were seen that took them down to the other areas of the island.

Drake went down the steps that was near the starting steps and took a nap until the sky was filled with fireworks. Drake opened his eyes and walked along a random path, that after ten minutes led to a forest where he notices a bunch of people watching a duel between Weevil Underwood and a taller Yugi Moto. Currently Yugi facing a Giant Green Moth that weakened his dragon rider monster until Yugi played a mist card. Yugi's monster was then destroyed as Drake hears a blonde woman wearing a purple ensemble, "See little Yugi clearly has no chance of winning this match, he should just give up."

The comment was countered as Yugi was smirking as the girl Tea comments, "Why don't you get lost and let Yugi duel. So get lost Mai."

Drake frowns before saying, "So Yugi's first duel is against Weevil? This should be interesting."

Mai looks at him and glares at him and says, "Oh great you are here. What got enough of destroying duellists in public?"

Drake shakes his head and counters, "So you still messing with people by using questionable means. Oh nice perfume by the way."

The comment was met with silence as Mai decided to remain silent as Yugi spoke up, "I play Summonskull, and as the mists have drenched the field, my Skull gets a boost in attack power winning the duel, THUNDER BOLT ATTACK!" the Summon Skull blasted the Great Moth with a lightning attack succeeded in defeating Weevil.

Drake nods at the view before he started walking away as no one in Yugi's group noticed him leaving. After an hour of walking, he went into his back pack and pulled out a protein bar and ate it. As he walked he eventually reached a field on the North side of the island. When a group of three guys jumped off the ground wearing a gillie hooded capes where they surrounded Drake. Suddenly a forth figure revealed themselves and says, "I have you now Dark Fate!"

Drake looks to the person to see a dark coated man with over the top hair and wears a opera mask that was styled into being a hero or villain. Drake sighs and says, "Hello Todd."

"It is the Masked Duellist and when I defeat you I will have the cards I was destined to use!" Todd shouts.

"Why should I even consider duelling you? For those stakes there is no point you have nothing that I would want as a counter stake for this duel." Drake's comment was going to follow the path he was walking only for the three guys with Todd pulling out knives.

Todd spoke up, "You win, my boys got cut you and take them from you."

That made Drake sigh and says, "Fine, but if I win I get your mask," Todd started to deny that counter bet only for his three goons to suddenly be knocked out quickly as to the side a holographic arena was raised out the ground before a red and blue terminals appeared along with four poles with rainbow light generators appeared in each corner. On the side the number '13' was seen. Drake walked over to the blue terminal while Todd went to the red Terminal. Drake spoke, "Do you want to go first Todd or should I?"

Todd growls and says, "Two star Chips," Todd and Drake placed all of their Star Chips next to the extra card zone and the two started duelling. Todd speaks up, "I will go first! I Draw," he drew his fist card and looks at the card he got. He starts to think, 'Giant Soldier of stone, that is a good defence monster, but I cannot win by defending,' he looks at the rest of his hand and saw; Knight of Langstar, Maruding Captain, Charging Rhino, Cursed Mask and a remove trap spell card. Todd then thought, 'I can't attack on my first turn, but he won't be able to touch my life points with a bluff.' Todd then spoke up, I summon Knight of Langstar and place one trap," he placed the monster in attack mode and the 'Remove Trap' spell card face down. Knight of Langstar is a mushroom man with a shield and sword while wearing a tunic. Todd says, "Make your move and when you attack you will lose!"

Drake frowns at Todd's terrible bluff as he drew a card and looked at his six cards; E.H. Burstinatrix, E.H. Avian, E.H. Bubbleman, E.H. Woodsman, O Oversoul and Polymerization. Drakes thoughts on this hand, 'Let's see, no one is around to see me summon my strongest monsters but I want this to be over with so,' he stops thinking on this and says, "I play Polymerization and fuse my Avian and Burstinatrix to summon my Elemental Hero Flame Wingman and I attack your Knight of Langstar!"

Knight of Langstar-ATK 1000

Elemental Hero Flare Wingman-ATK 2100

Flare Wingman set the Knight of Langstar on fire with his red dragon like arm destroying the monster. Drake then spoke up as Todd lost eleven hundred life points, "When Flare Wingman destroys an opposing monster the owner loses that monsters attack in lifepoints."

Todd: 2000-1100=900

Flare Wingman floated in front of Todd and pointed his dragon arm at Todd's face before it glowed red and with a red flash Todd lost another thousand life points.

Todd: 900-1000=-100

Winner: Drake Fate

Todd fell to his knees in shock before shouting at Drake when he walked around to collect his Star Chips. Todd growls and shouts, "NO FAIR! You Cheated with your rare cards!"

Drake sighs and asks, "You mean like when you Duelled Seto Kaiba and lost to all three of his Blue Eyes White Dragons? Or how about when you lost your first duel against me when I used common cards to your deck filled with Every Dragon you could find with more than two thousand attack points. Now I will be taking your Star Chips and that stupid mask," Drake removed the mask from Todd's face as he screamed 'no' before falling to the ground with his face covering his hands as Drake walks away for four star chips and a single mask that he dumped on the ground after walking for ten minutes away from the arena that he duelled in. Drake eventually walks along the ocean where he sees Mako Tsunami organising a fire pit with a couple fish that he starts cooking. Drake shakes his head at the dumb trap and continues walking along the path.

After an hour of walking without a final destination in mind ends up bumping into Yugi and his friends. Yugi sees Drake and the four Star Chips that he wears and asks, "Wow you already have four Star Chips, it must have been an amazing duel."

Drake sighs and says, "Not really, I duelled a wannabe hero who wanted my deck and threatened me only I beat him and left him to his devices," Drake then started to leave while Joey smelled the air.

Yugi asks, "You wouldn't happen to know where we can get some food?"

Drake simply says, "Just follow this path, A guy is cooking some fish, but if you eat it you will have to duel him in payment," Drake walked back the direction that Yugi's group came from. Drake walked along the path until he reached a large number of people. One such person was Mai as she fooled several boys into duelling her, she was duelling everyone with a single Star Chip on each duel, which was surprising in that she was already ahead six Star Chips. Drake ignores her duels as all her opponents were freaked out by her mind games.

Eventually Drake was challenged by another duellist a match that went for ten minutes as Drake only defended for the entire duel and not losing any lifepoints. Where he was then challenged by another duellist that he won using Elemental Hero Neos that he summoned in his second turn before playing a 'Heated Heat' card that resulted in an instant win against a Winged Dragon who had attacked a defending Elemental Hero Clayman, and reducing his opponents Life Points by a six hundred points that then resulted in an enhanced Neos destroying his opponent losing that turn. Drake then walked away with seven Star Chips that leaves him one duel away from gaining entry along with luring anyone that crave power.

As the sun begins to set on Duellist Kingdom, Drake was alone in the woods in deep thought wandering through the woods until suddenly seeing that he was alone with a duel platform was ready to be used when a voice spoke up, "You have a lot of power and cards that could prove problematic to me," Drake looks behind him and sees a man with a glowing green facial tattoo over his left eye and some fancy clothes that did not look natural in this world. His arms were bare with a black gauntlet around his left wrist with a red gem compared to the gold band on Drake's left arm only that one has a green gem. "I am Seven and I challenge you to a duel, but the loser loses his energy!"

Drake narrows his eyes before saying, "Fine but if you lose, I send you home," Seven's eyes widened before he smirks expecting a fun duel.

The two went on the platforms, Seven on Red and Drake on Blue. Seven spokes up, "I offer all my Star Chips, three."

Seven places his deck and star chips on the feild, Drake replies with, "Fine, I will do the same number. Would you like to go first?"

Seven laughs and draws his first card and plays a single monster, "I play Lord Gaia the Fierce Knight," he laughs and says, "You won't be able to get past my monster!"

Drake looked at his hand and says, "I play the Spell Card 'Scapegoat and summon four Sheep tokens in defence mode and end my turn."

Seven growls and orders his knight to attack the first sheep token while saying, "You are delaying the inevitable! I end my turn."

Drake drew a card and says, "I set one card and end my turn."

Seven draws a card and says, "I summon, Curse of Dragon, to attack another of your tokens and end my turn."

Drake drew another cars, "I play 'E-Emergency Call to bring to my hand now I play, Elemental Hero Bladeedge and I attack you Gaia," the attack met reducing Seven's life points.

Seven: 2000-300=1700

Drake: 2000

Seven drew a card and says, "I change Curse of Dragon to defence and play Giant Soldier of stone in defence mode," Seven was thinking, "two more turns and I will have everything I need to break him.'

Drake drew, "I play Burstinatrix in defence mode and use BladeEdge to attack your soldier of stone. Bladeedge's attack does piercing damage."

Seven: 1700-600=1100

Drake: 2000

Seven drew a card and thought, 'one more turn' he then spoke, "I summon Krystal Dragon in attack mode, I attack your third token and play one card face down and end my turn."

Drake drew before saying, "I summon Elemental Hero Avian and the play Miracle Fusion using my Avian and Burstinatrix and remove them from play to summon Elemental Hero Flare Wingman. But I am not done yet, for I play 'Parrallel World Fusion' and by sending my two banished monsters back to my deck to summon Elemental Hero Great Tornado. Great Tornado's effect is now activated, your monsters' Attack and Defence are cut in half," all of Seven's Monsters' lose half their main attack. Drake then says, "Now I will have Flare Wingman attack your Krystal Dragon. You suffer battle damage and then you suffer that monster's normal attack will be taken from your life points!"

Seven: 1100-850=250-2500=0

Drake: 2000 Winner

Seven was shocked as he started to glow and burst into particles and vanished. Drake was lowered down to the ground and he walked over to the other platform and collected the cards and Star Chips and added the last three chips to his wrist holder. Drake took a deep breath as he was lowered back to the ground and saw a helicopter fly over head. Drake frowns before following the direction the Helicopter went without noticing a white haired youth having watched him duel.

Drake walked along the path until he reached the helicopter's landing spot to find Yugi and his friends watching Joey duel against a man Drake did not think would have come to the island willingly, Seto Kaiba. Joey and Kaiba had what appeared to be portable holographic duelling device. Drake walked over as Kaiba had a centaurous ox get destroyed by a Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Drake walked over and asks Yugi, "Why is Kaiba here? And where did blondie get a Red Eyes?"

Yugi turned to Drake and says, "Hey Drake, Kaiba came to the island to duel Pegasus, but needed to collect his deck from me. That being said, Joey challenged Kaiba to a duel and he got that Red-Eyes from Rex Raptor," Yugi then looked at his wrist and with widened eyes he asks, "You already have ten Star Chips?"

Drake snorts and says, "Not very difficult, How many do you have?"

"Eight," Yugi admits before adding, "Thank you for that advice on the boat."

Drake nods silently before Kaiba played one of his Blue Eye White Dragons and narrows his eyes. Drake simply says, "Pegasus shouldn't have limited the distribution of the Blue eyes."

Yugi frowns before asking, "Why would he do that?"

Drake says as Kaiba defeats Joey, "Only four copies in existence, three card limit, per deck. What people don't really know is that the Elemental Hero cards will be in limited circulation in a couple years, while the more dangerous cards won't be." Yugi frowns at that before following his friends towards Joey after his loss to Kaiba. Joey's friends supported him while Drake walked over and took the disc shaped duelling device and says, "An interesting design, a bit cumbersome a prototype, I take it?"

Kaiba glares at Drako and took his invention and says, "Something so complex will win me every duel."

Drake frowns before saying, "Or you could finish the design and make it cost effective enough to make you billions. Image kids playing together with Kaiba brand duel disks, one in every home," Drake taunts actually got Kaiba to pause before Drake continues, "Plus with the new cards Pegasus plans on releasing after this tournament you could hold your own competition."

Kaiba glares over his shoulder and says, "I don't need to take advice from a hypocrite duellist," Kaiba walks away as Drake couldn't fault Kaiba for the truth.

Once Kaiba was gone Yugi walked over and asks, "Would you like to join us, we are going to set up camp for the night."

Drake looked at him strangely before sighing while he says, "Sure. Surprisingly I do not look forward to spending a night in Pegasus' castle," he walked with Yugi and his friends towards the woods and away from Kaiba's helicopter. They continued to walk until they found a clearing that had a single wooden stump and plenty of room for them all to sleep on the ground. Drake found a spot at the base of a tree and with his back leaning on the plant began to nap.

Until Joey spotted a poisonous mushroom and went to eat it, only for Tristan and Yugi stopping him from killing himself. Drake's eyes narrowed before suddenly Mai made an appearance, "Do us all a favour and let him eat it," while laughing. Drake shakes his head before Mai suddenly eats a candy bar.

Joey was drooling at the sight of food before he angrily states that he refuse to let her eat in front of him very loudly until Drake threw an energy bar at the back of Joey's head while shouting, "I am trying to sleep here! If you are that hungry just take my bag," Drake threw his pack to Yugi.

Yugi opened the bag while sitting on the ground as Joey ate the Energy bar. Yugi suddenly says, "Wow, there is a lot of candy bars in here. Though I am surprised that you have so much food, why is that?"

Drake sighs and says, "Not the first time I was here. The only proper ways of getting food is to fish in the ocean or inside that castle," Drake sits up and stays seated as he was now expecting to participate in the dinner conversation. Drake sighs as he places his hand on his cheek as he waited for the next question.

Tea asks, "You know you have been, more friendly then what we have seen or read about you."

Drake's reply was, "I am not a nice person, I just really hate it when I have to duel complete idiots," he rubs his eyes as Mai sits across from him and empties out her pack resulting in a wider verity of food to eat. Drake looks at the food and shakes his head.

Mai spoke up, "You lot can have this, but, Joey and pointy hair are to get water. Yugi gets some wood for a fire. Darky can join you," Mai then focuses on Tea and pulls her to the side with a portable shower.

Drake shakes his head as he and Yugi go to get fire wood. They were a short distance away when Yugi asks, "How well do you know Pegasus?"

"That depends," Drake questions, "What did he do to you? I take it that hit is related to Millennium Item around your neck."

Yugi paused before he says, "Yeah, he took my Grandpa's soul I came to the island to get it back. But I don't know how I can beat him, it was like," Drake interrupted.

"That he could see every move you were going to make before you did," Drake's comment was met with a nod. Drake shakes his head before saying, "Pegasus' Eye can see the surface thoughts of your mind. When I bet him I didn't think on what I was doing and instead," Yugi waited to listen carefully to the secret method in defeating Pegasus, "I started thinking on the most annoying song to get stuck in my head. The dumb thing was that Pegasus suddenly started humming the theme tune to Pink Panther. Made it hard for him to pick my moves with the booster pack deck I used."

Yugi's eyes widened and he dropped all of the sticks he found before suddenly shouting, "There is no way it is that simple!"

Drake laughs and says, "The fact you need to understand is that each item makes it so that it is almost impossible to beat those with the items. To beat another user of the Millennium Items is to either confuse, distract or remove all their options. I don't know what that pendant you have can do, but even I know that it would be highly dangerous in the wrong hands."

"Like Pegasus!" Yugi states.

"Maybe, maybe not. For all I know you could be the wrong hands. Don't let that pendant dictate your life or what you desire but trust it and it will never fail you," Drake states before the two return with the fire wood as Mai stood guard outside a portable shower.

Joey and Tristan were doing an inventory of all the food before Drake started to make a fire by placing a card under his left sleeve and proceeded to tap the wood as a small burst of fire hit the wood and started a fire. He then drops a tooth pick into the fire. Drake took a seat on a tree as Joey starts cooking dinner, a very teenager dinner by melting chocolate bars onto the canned fruits. Drake shook his head when he heard the comment about chocolate being countered. Drake continues to snooze until he hears Tea scream, Drake was on his feet quicker then most as a strange device appeared on his left wrist with his deck inside ran towards the shower and looks around and found no one. In response Mai started hitting Drake until he walked away. Yugi spots the device on his wrist as it suddenly vanishes as Drake mutters about false alarms and returned to his tree to sleep until food was ready.

They enjoyed some of Joey's home cooking, until Yugi spoke up to Mai, "So Mai I heard that you almost have enough to enter the castle. Do you have eight or nine?"

Mai sighs and says, "Don't be all friendly with me kid, this was a whim because I did not want to waste food."

Drake counter comment was, "Funny, considering everything you brought was non perishable," and received a rock to the forehead. Drake recovered from the rock and says, "So how many duels did you have before your perfume trick failed?"

Joey started snickering before Mai slapped him and says, "Just because my scent strategy failed on the third duels does not mean that it failed me." Mai then stands and says, "I don't need to take this from you, I am going for a walk."

Mai walked away while Drake ignored her as he silently waited for the others to continue their conversation. Drake was silent as the four teenagers spoke about their next duels, Joey needing another six Star Chips to Yugi's eight. As they spoke Yugi suddenly asks, "Drake, is there anything else that you can tell me about Pegasus?"

Drake frowns as he looks into the air where there is a bird perched on a branch above them and said, "Well there was this one thing," he was a bit louder when he started answering, "If Pegasus gives you a card before the finals, it is his way of taunting you. Especially if the cards he gives you would actually make your deck stronger than before."

Pegasus' castle-That moment-Dinner room

Maximillion Pegasus laughs loudly as he laughed at the screen of Yugi, his friends and Drake as they talked around the fire. Pegasus simply says, "Well young Drake you certainly know how to make this Tournament entertaining," he stirred his fermented 'fruit' juice that he was drinking in a wine glass. Pegasus suddenly clicked his fingers with his other hand and says, "I want each finalists data from the previous duels given to me when they reach the castle."

His head guard suddenly asks, "What if they do not have any data?"

"Then they are disqualified," Pegasus states before laughing loudly as another security guard entered with a tray of dinner. Pegasus calms down while saying, "Ah my lucky charm cereal, dinner of cartoons."

Back with Yugi and his friends, oh and Drake-ten minutes later

Drake was silent as the four others were talking with one another until Tea mentioned that Mai was still missing. That was until another white haired teen wearing cream coloured jumper and light blue jeans. Yugi was the first to comment, "Bakura, why are you here?"

"I was invited," the boy Bakura answered before he joined them around the fire and asks, "It was rather strange, I suddenly got invited to come. I have never even been a part of a tournament before."

Drake raised an eyebrow before asking, "Then where is you Dueling Glove?"

Bakaru placed a hand behind his head and says, "Well I accidently left my star chips, glove and two cards on the boat. So I have been avoiding security all day."

Drake rolled his eyes as the other teens proceeded to talk amongst each other except Joey who was going through his deck only to be stuck on a single card, his Flames Swordsman. Which was brought up by Tristan causing Joey to say, "Sometimes when I am duelling I pretend that I am the one out there fighting monsters and winning the day."

Drake shakes his head as the group started talking about what card would represent them;

Joey: Flames Swordsman

Tristan: Cyber Cammando

Yugi: Dark Magician

Tea: Magician of Faith

Bakura: Change of Heart

Yugi then looks to Drake and asks, "Which card would you be Drake?"

Drake frowns before saying, "If I find a card that reminds me of me, I will tell you. Until then you will have to accept that I have not found one yet." Drake then gets stuck staring at the cards in his deck as he really thinks about the question, 'The cards in my deck came to me in a dream. Cards that can defend this world, but they feel incomplete like there is still cards missing.'

Bakura then spoke up, "I know let's have a duel, everyone places their favourite card in Yugi's deck and then he and I can have a duel."

Drake looked at Bakura with narrowed eyes as the others give Yugi their favourite cards. Drake watched from a distance as Bakura and Yugi set up a field for the two to play. Drake comments, "You know that you can use the platforms for practice duels right, all you would have to do is not bet any Star Chips, right?"

That comment was ignored as Yugi and Bakura were facing off against each other until Bakura reveals his own Millennium Item, a ring with five points pointers that moved freely along the bottom of the ring around his neck. Bakura speaks up after Yugi realised what it was, "Yes and with my Millennium Ring I will seal you all away into Yugi's deck!" with that Yugi, Tea, Tristan and Joeys' souls were pulled out their bodies and implanted inside Yugi's deck. Bakura looked at Drake to see that Drake's soul was partially out before his ring glowed green and his soul returned to his body. Bakura speaks, "How did you resist my Millennium Ring?"

Drake shakes his head, "That is my secret, but if you are after Yugi's trinket you know the rules."

Bakura's eyes narrow before Yugi's body glowed and he became taller and more flamboyant compared to normal. Bakura frowns before his eyes widened and he says, "Well this will be fun."

With that 'Yugi' spoke, "You want my puzzle you will have to duel me for it," and with that the two sat on opposite sides of the tree stump and duels in an ancient realm of shadows in a Shadow Game. Drake leans back against the tree waiting for the game to end.

After the duel of Yami Yugi and Bakura.

With the duel ending in favour of Yugi, Drake watched as Joey and Tristan freaked out at the sight of Bakura, after commenting about a dream of being trading cards and fighting monsters. Yugi was stuck thinking on the duel before he spoke to Bakura on where he got his Millennium Item. As a result the two learn where the other got their items. Bakura's father bought the item from a market in Egypt while Yugi's Grandfather collected the incomplete puzzle in his youth that he then gave it to Yugi who completed the puzzle to gain its power, which he was yet to discover.

Drake was silently napping before they hear Mai scream in terror in the distance. Drake snapped his eyes open and he was on his feet faster than everyone else realised that he was running towards Mai. Everyone followed after him with Tristan falling behind to grab the two bags of food. They ran until they found an Arena with Mai looking defeated with a large man with two oversized Duel Gloves, that could hold forty Star Chips on each wrist. Drake glared at a man known as Panick, the eliminator hired by Pegasus to eliminate duellist from the tournament. Drake was ready to duel when Yugi transformed and 'Yugi' spoke, "I challenge you to a duel, and when I win you will return Mai's Star Chips!"

Panick laughed and says, "Deal, but when I win you will never want to duel again!"

With that Drake stood to the side with Yugi's friends and Mai. Unfortunately as Yugi challenged Panick, so he went first and played the Castle of Shadows that covered his entire side of the field that removed the field power bonus, then used a pair of flame throwers to induce fear in Yugi. As Panick taunted Yugi, Drake shouted, "Yugi, what he is not telling you is that fiends and dark spellcaster types will get the power bonus still!" Everyone looked at him strangely until Drake reached into his coat and pulled out a card. 'Yami' the darkness field spell that states exactly what Drake had said. Drake then says, "Not that it will matter, from the limited amount of time I have seen Yugi duelling he already has all the cards he needs to counter Panick, unless he succumbs to the boasting of an idiot."

With that Yugi collected himself as Panick used the flame throwers to disrupt Yugi's turn only for Yugi to continue to smirk at Panick. Yugi then taunted Panick into making a mistake. After taunting Panick into making several mistakes and using 'Swords of Revealing Light' and with Panick trapping his monsters with a shield barrier as the 'Fortess of Shadows' lost its floatation ring. The castle destroyed Panick's monsters and life points and he then tried to cheat by killing Yugi with the flame throwers. In response Drake learnt one of the Puzzle's powers. When duelling the spirit of the puzzle if you cheat or go back on your word against him, you get destroyed. Drake nods in understanding as Yugi hands Mai the Star Chips she had lost. Only to deny the chips only for Joey to take them and mess with Mai until she accepted the chips back.

Drake sighs and looks to his 'watch' and says, "Look I am going to head to the castle now, I will see you three at the castle when you get there."

Drake walks away only for 'Yugi' to speak to him, "I would like to speak to you Privately Drake," Drake stopped and nodded his head for Yugi to follow. When they were still within sight but out of Ear shot, 'Yugi' asks, "How did you resist the spirit in the Millennium Ring."

Drake looked at him and says, "Look, those Shadow Duels you have been doing, are not the only inter-dimensional problems this world is dealing with. What you fail to understand is that a bunch of entities from other realms are trying to get to this dimension. Protect that 'Puzzle' of yours while I handle those thinking they can be the rulers of this place," with that Drake walked away silently before suddenly stopping and says, "When I see you guys next, I want my back pack back," he then started walking in the dark until he was out of sight.

'Yugi' frowns before transforming back into his younger self and walks back to his friends where they went back to their campsite to get a good night's rest.

Next day-An hour before Noon-Castle's main gates.

Drake naps in the sun as wanted to avoid dealing with Pegasus for a bit longer until a guy with hair like Tristan's only wearing a suit and sunglasses. Pegasus' Guard says, "Star Chips, if you don't have ten you have to leave the castle," in response Drake showed off his Star Chips causing the Guard to say, "Oh, well could you please enter the castle then. Your loitering is distracting the guards of the castle, so if you want to sleep peacefully then you may want to do it inside."

Drake sighs and does that and enters the castle, through a vault door with his ten star chips. Drake sighs as he was directed into the castle where he was led by the guard to Maximillion Pegasus drinking some fruit juice and whom speaks, "Hello again Young Drake. How do you like my Duellist Kingdom tournament?"

Drake shakes his head and asks, "What do you want Pegasus?"

Pegasus laughs lightly before asking, "What do you think of Young Yugi?"

"Well he is very skilled. When you duel him you should avoid using that eye of yours. If he considers it cheating," Drake comments leaving that last point in before saying, "That Panick that you hired forced 'Yugi's' hand."

With that Pegasus stirred his drink with a frown before looking up to the screen, "It appears that Joey Wheeler is about to lose against a zombie duellist," Drake looks at the screen and sees Joey with a single monster against three Zombie monsters, until he played a 'Shield and Sword' card that swaps attack for defence, so now with a zero attack monster defending his opponent against a thousand point attack monster while having less than a thousand life points. Pegasus was surprised by this and says, "Impressive, mister Wheeler is a skilled duellist. Perhaps he will give you an enjoyable game."

Drake sighs and says, "Why should I care, I am here for one reason and that is to ensure that this world is protected against threats. So you should be careful Pegasus, otherwise I may need to take you down."

Pegasus laughs and says, "I don't see how my plans interfere with yours. You have known my end goal since you countered my eye, and you have never believed I will succeed. The fact that you are warning me, means something has spooked you into doing this. What has happened that has given you such a scare?"

"You mean besides a grown man with a fetish for cartoons?" Drake jokes in a taunting manor and getting a laugh from Pegasus. Drake then became serious and says, "The Puzzle is important, in that it may actually be a final line of defence for the realm."

Pegasus actually paused at that before commenting, "So whoever is in possession of the Puzzle will be force to battle for the rest of their natural life," Pegasus frowns at that before smiling and saying, "Well if that is what it takes to get the power of the puzzle then so be it," he waved off the dangers of the puzzle before he noticed, "Oh it appears that Joey's opponent and allies decided to seal the cave entrance. Talk about poor sportsmanship. He pressed a button on his remote and sees that the group whom sealed Yugi's group underground all had their Star Chips taken by a fourth member with an American Flag bandana tied around his head. Pegasus frowns before saying, "So Bandit Keith has come to my island, but," he pressed another button and saying, "He never duelled in my tournament and that means that he will be disqualified when he reaches the tournament. I think I will wait until after the other competitors arrive," Pegasus stands and says, "Well I better meet with an intruder, feel free to watch Yugi and Joeys' next duel. They will be duelling some more of my eliminators only it will be a duos duel."

With that Pegasus left Drake alone in the room. Drake took a seat and as Pegasus stated Yugi and Joey walked through a maze of tunnels following Bakura's Ring and finding two bald men dress as Chinese monks in Green and Orange. With that bottom half of the screen turned into four panels and a display of a maze with pictures of the cards that were being played. Drake enjoyed watching Joey and Yugi playing better then a pair of professorial doubles duellists and winning with a combination of two of their strongest cards. Drake smiles and looks to the pad of paper that Pegasus had and made a note. Drake then shifted between the different duellist still on the island and sees that Mai had won her final duel and that all the other duellists were being shipped off the island on row boats.

Drake nods to himself before he walked away and wanders for a couple hours until he found himself in a tower that would let him look at the island where he saw that Yugi was duelling against Kaiba using his new Duel Disc system. Yugi appeared to have the upper hand even as he was using his weaker monsters until Kaiba used his three Blue Eyes White Dragons in a fusion creating a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Drake was forced to smile as Yugi used a Kuriboh strategy that defended Yugi as he used a golden arrow, Polymerization and Mammoth Graveyard cards to disable the Ultimate Dragon as it weakened each turn with a mammoth skull on it's stomach, loosing twelve hundred attack points each turn. Eventually Kaiba's dragon lost a head when Yugi summoned a 'Celtic Guardian' that was hidden between the Kuribohs. Kaiba was shocked before suddenly becoming determined as he stepped back so that he was dangerously standing on a wall that he could accidently fall down to his death. Drake frowns unable to hear them, Kaiba revived the removed head when Yugi cancelled an attack while falling to his knees in a panic and loosing the duel.

Drake's eyes narrowed as Kaiba took half of Yugi's Star Chips and entered the Castle while Yugi appeared to have lost the will to duel. Drake has an angry look on his face as he returns to the room he had spoken to Pegasus in to find Kaiba waiting for Pegasus to arrive. Drake glares at Kaiba and says, "You coward," that simple comment got Kaiba to glare at Drake. Before Kaiba could insult him only for Drake to continue, "You willing to kill yourself does not get you what you want. What you did was worse than cheating," Drake walked away leaving Kaiba to growl in anger at that.

Drake eventually walked into the room on a balcony overlooking a bridge that was level with a balcony that holds a fancy chair. The bridge though was over what appeared to be a bottomless pit. Drake finds himself thinking while leaning on the railing. Where he appears to have been thinking for an extended period until Bandit Keith was standing next to him before Yugi, Joey, their friends and Mai was on the balcony about to start a fight with Bandit Keith until they were directed into watching a duel between Kaiba and Pegasus. Kaiba intended for the duel to use Kaiba's 'Duel Disc' only for Pegasus to play with it like a toy before planning to have Kaiba's little brother to Duel Kaiba unless Kaiba used the regular duelling platform. In the end Kaiba conceded to Pegasus' demands.

Drake finally comments, "Not that it matters, Pegasus watched the duel between Yugi and Kaiba. And considering that it uses the same rules and playing field. If anything Kaiba should have developed the tech more before trying to use it here."

Yugi frowns at this as the duel began. Yugi suddenly asks, "What are Kaiba's chances of winning?"

"Not very good," Drake admits before saying, "The deck Pegasus is going to use is one of a kind. Even though in a couple years of new releases will mean that the reason why it is one of a kind will be pointless."

Joey frowns before asking, "What is it like a full on Blue Eyes deck or something?"

"Nope, this deck is one of the two biggest loves of his life," Drake's comment was met with confusion as the Duel continued.

The Duel became a mocking of one Seto Kaiba as Pegasus used his deck of Cartoon monsters along with a Blue Eyes Toon Dragon took control of the game while also stealing one of Kaiba's most important cards, 'Crush Card Virus.' As the game continued the final move that Pegasus made before winning the game was to summon a monster that he did not turn into a toon but infected with the Crush card that destroyed all of the monsters in Kaiba's deck with more than fifteen hundred attack points. Which was problematic as the only monster in Kaiba's deck with under fifteen hundred attack was a Dark Clown monster. Which lost Kaiba the duel as it was the very last card Kaiba could play. Pegasus took Kaiba's soul without Drake commenting on it. The guards of the castle then directed everyone to the dining room where everyone was given a seat to eat, even those who were not contestants. On one side from the head of the table sat Drake, Yugi, Joey and Tea, while opposite them sat Bakura, Tristan, Mai and then Bandit Keith. Everyone waited in their seats until Pegasus entered the room with his guards and took a seat at the head of the table. Yugi stands to question Pegasus until Drake pushed Yugi back into his seat.

Pegasus spoke up, "Greetings Finalists, you have proven that you are the best of the best of my tournament," with that four members of Pegasus' guards arrived holding a box each. Pegasus speaks up again, "Tomorrow the four finalist will duel for the chance to win the grand prise."

Joey stands while shouting, "What do I look like chop liver!?"

Drake sighs and says, "Joey sit down," Joey looked angry before Drake says, "There was a hidden rule for the tournament."

Joey was confused as Pegasus chuckled and says, "That is correct, you see for my tournament you are required to at least duel once on the supplied duel arenas. While everyone was watching my duel with Kaiba boy, my men was reviewing your duels for the items that are being given to each of you," with that each guard placed a box in front of Drake, Yugi, Mai and Joey. Pegasus then says, "Bandit Keith here failed to follow the rules so he is disqualified." With that Joey laughed loudly as Keith went to attack Pegasus only for Drake to get in front of him and punching him unconscious with a single right hook. Drake walked back to his seat and listened to Pegasus, "Well after that impressive display I believe that we can continue with our delicious dinner," Pegasus clapped his hands as the guards left the room to get the dinner. Pegasus then spoke up, "I believe that each of you should open your consolation prizes, they should make the finals very interesting."

Yugi frowns as Joey opens his box and his eyes widened as he says, "Wow, Summon Skull, Polymerization, Black Skull Dragon, Red Transmigration and," he paused when he asks, "Why is this Lord of the Red monster blue?"

Yugi's eyes widened before he looks to Pegasus and says, "So Drake was telling the truth, you are taunting us!"

Joey wanted to be angry but was stopping himself because the cards he was given would actually help him duel in this tournament. Plus considering that he knows how to use three of the cards with his training and experience. Mai on the other hand had absolutely no issue as she smiles at the new Harpie Lady cards she can definitely use in her deck. Drake looked at the cards he was given and proceeded to review the fusion cards that he had been waiting for.

Pegasus laughs and says, "Well, I figured that my first tournament as creator of the game. It is only fair that I give those in the finals rare cards that will ensure that my tournament will be truly amazing," Pegasus laughs in humour before stating, "Now, Yugi boy, perhaps you would enjoy seeing the cards you are receiving."

Yugi frowns before opening the box seeing some cards that he honestly never knew existed. Dark Magician Girl, Buster Blader, Skilled Dark Magician, Skilled White Magician and a Dark Renewal trap card. Yugi frowns at the cards realising that Pegasus actually is taunting him enough anger him. Yugi accepted the cards anyway as the dinner was served. A three course meal for everyone else while Pegasus ate breakfast cereal.

Drake sighs as he eats his food while ignoring the looks that Joey and Yugi were making. Eventually They finished their meal and Pegasus stands and says, "I will let Sergey explain the rules of the finals, now if you excuse me, I recently got a copy of the adventures of the Roger Rabbit and I have been looking forward to binge watching it," Pegasus laughs as he walks away quickly as Drake pinched the bridge of his nose.

Sergay speaks, "Contestants, on the bottom side of your boxes is a letter, your letter indicates who you will be duelling," with this Yugi looked under his box to see the letter 'A' as Sergay continues, "When the duel begins, you must display one of the two cards provided to you when you were invited to the tournament. If you fail to show the card you will be disqualified from the match. The first duel between A and B, while begin at ten tomorrow morning with a time limit of one hour. The second duel between C and D, will be at eleven with the same limitation."

Joey stand and asks, "Okay, who is 'D'?"

Drake sighs as he reveals that he is 'D' while leaning back in his chair.

The Duels:

Yugi Moto (A) versus Mai Valentine (B)

Joey Wheeler (C) versus Drake Fate (D)

Sergay speaks again, "Remember that without the either the two cards supplied you will be disqualified."

Sergay left as Joey realised the problem, he did not have the card and because of that he slammed his head into the table. Yugi saw this and realised what was wrong and says, "Joey you really need to keep a better eye on your cards, you dropped this as we entered the castle," in Yugi's hand was one of the cards needed for the tournament finals.

Joey says, "But you need this card Yugi."

Drake sighs loudly and says, "You do realise that you only need one card to get both prises right?"

Joey froze at that and sighs with his face in his hands and proceeded to say, "Why is it that you always know what to say to calm me down?"

"I speak idiot," Drake answered as Yugi and Tea try their best to stop Joey killing his opponent until Drake adds, "Great for translating smart people while making said smart person look like the idiot."

Joey blinked at that and asks, "Then what does that make me?"

"A finalist in a tournament and not making yourself look like a complete idiot. There is nothing wrong with being dumb, though it is a sin when you blame it for your true short comings," Drake stands and says, "Night," and leaves the room.

Joey growls before questioning, "What is with that guy, one moment he is friendly the next he is a complete jerk."

Yugi frowns before saying, "I don't know what his deal is but of the people we have met he is last person who I would expect that would Ally with," with that, Joey and Bakura went to share a room, while Yugi shared a room with Tristan and Mai shared hers with Tea. They all had a major duel the next day.

Before people comment, Yes the OC uses Elemental Hero cards, though in this case the OC convinced Pegasus to create the cards. Though no Neo-Sapians, Evil Heroes or Destiny Heroes unless they are converted to Elemental Heroes. So please don't hate that I prefer Elemental Heroes to most decks.
