This is just a little random story I had in my head since yesterday. Enjoy! :)
Hailey listened to Adam and Jay arguing in the kitchen. The fight was about her. She made the wrong call on the mission that got Adam into a little bit of trouble - he almost got caught while being undercover but actually it was nothing. She just called him on his phone and told him to pull back because she saw that all the drug dealers had guns on them and one wrong move Adam would be Swiss cheese..
Adam was mad at her and Jay but she thought it was the right move. Usually she would defend Jay and help him but this started while she was on the phone and somehow had no interest in getting between them now.
Until she heard a loud bang.
She ran into the kitchen to see Jay on the ground, bleeding, and Adam standing there in shock over what just happened.
"Oh my god! Leave!", she yelled at Adam and he stormed out of the kitchen. Hailey got down to Jay. He was slowly sitting up. The blood was coming from a small cut on his forehead.
"Let me take a look at this.", she said and carefully wiped the blood away with a tissue.
"It's nothing.", he said.
"It's not nothing."
"I'm fine. Really."
"This needs stitches, Jay. Can you get up? I'll drive."
"Hailey. I'm not going to the hospital for a small bump on my head.", he said while blood was running over his eyebrows into his eye.
"Let me at least call Will.", Hailey said and took his phone. Jay slowly got up and sat on the couch. He didn't protest.
Hailey dialed Will's number.
"Hey Jay. Can I call you back? I'm in the middle of something.", Will answered his phone.
"It's Hailey. Jay is injured."
"Where are you?"
"At the precinct."
"I'll be there in 10 minutes."
"Thanks!", Hailey hung up and looked at Jay. "How did this happen?" She quickly got a bigger tissue and held it against the bleeding cut on Jay's forehead.
"Adam pushed me a little. I… I lost my balance and hit my head on the table. It's not his fault."
"Was the argument still about what happened earlier? About me and my call?", she asked.
Jay just nodded.
Will stormed into the police station.
"Hey Sargent Platt! Where is Jay?", Will asked.
"Jay? He should be upstairs. Why are you here?", she asked back.
"Hailey called me and told me he was injured.", Will said and Trudy quickly showed him upstairs.
Hailey waved at them to come to the kitchen.
Will entered the room and smiled. Jay was embarrassed because now his brother and Trudy knew he "fell". Hailey informed Trudy on what happened and left the two men alone.
"Will, I'm good. It's nothing.", Jay said.
"Let me see and decide if it's nothing.", Will said and removed the towel. "Uhh.. Nasty cut. What happened?"
"My head wanted to meet the table."
"Did you pass out?"
"No!"
"Then why did you hit your head on the table?"
"Will.. it's a work thing.. Adam and I got into a little fight. It was nothing. I did not pass out and I was fully conscious the whole time. Now give me a bandage or something so I can get on with my work.", Jay explained.
"Jay… This needs stitches. A bandage will not help you with that."
"Then do it."
"I can't stitch you up here, you know that."
"I'm not going to the hospital, Will! Just do it. I don't need pain medication or anything.", Jay said.
"Alright… If you say so. I do need to numb the area, though. Sooo.", Will pulled out a syringe and a little bottle of clear liquid.
"Oh my god… Do it fast!", Jay said and just let his brother work. It was bad enough that his brother had to come to the precinct now he also had to face his biggest fear: needles.
Will carefully poked the needle into the wound and waited a moment for the sedative to work. Then he pulled out a suture kid and stitched up his younger brother's forehead with three little stitches. After that he covered it up with a bandage.
"I'm all done. I would recommend you to go home and rest. I can't say for sure without any more tests but you might also have a slight concussion.", Will said.
"Yeah… Can you drive me?", Jay asked.
Will was a little shocked that he didn't complain about this but it was all for the best. Will nodded and helped him up.
Jay stopped before taking the first step. He did have a headache and felt a little bit dizzy.
"You good?", Will asked.
"Yeah.", Jay answered and started slowly walking outside. "Hailey… can you tell Voight…", he started but she quickly answered: "Of course. Go home and rest. See you tomorrow."
Walking past Adam, he looked shocked and hurt. Adam didn't want to hurt Jay. He didn't want for this to happen at all. "I'm sorry, man.", he said.
Jay didn't look at him and just walked past him while mumbling "All good…"
Will helped him downstairs and into the car.
Later that night Jay was resting on the couch watching ice hockey when someone knocked on the door. He got up and looked. It was Hailey.
"Hey. What are you doing here?", Jay asked.
She walked inside and hugged him. "I was worried about you. You looked like hell and Will had to help you walk… Are you sure you're alright?", she said.
"Yes! I'm all good, Hailey. Don't worry. I'm in no pain, my headache is gone… I'm all good.", he reassured her.
"Okay. After I told Voight what happened he had a long talk with Adam but yeah. It's all good there now too. Adam felt so bad for the rest of the shift…", she said.
"Hailey… Let's not talk about this now, okay? Just sit down. Do you want something to drink?", he asked.
"I actually brought you some nice fancy wine.", she smiled.
"I'll get the opener and glasses!", Jay said and smiled at her.
