TK stretches as he walks bleary eyed into the kitchen of their little apartment, his hand automatically finding the coffeemaker button, and soon the smell of hazelnut wafts through the air as he makes breakfast.

"Smells good, Ty." Carlos walks in, buttoning up his uniform shirt, tactical belt over his shoulder. He slips his arms around his boyfriend's chest and settles his head on his shoulder. They stand like this for a few minutes before Carlos starts kissing TK's neck, which elicits a little laugh from the firefighter as Carlos feels his boyfriend's body relaxing under his touch.

"Forget breakfast, I'll get something on my way to work." TK mutters as he turns to deepen the kiss.

TKs phone rang as he ran on the trail behind the station, absentmindedly he answered.

"Hello?"

"Carlos, voy camino a la casa del tío Juan. ¿vas a venir? porque es Carmen's quinceañera este fin de semana y estarás muy decepcionado si te lo pierdes. sabes que invité a esa linda chica de mi congregación.."

The voice jolts him out of his dissociation as the woman on the phone continues to ramble on in Spanish; He stops in his tracks.

"Ma'am, who did you call?"

"honestamente, ¿realmente estás diciendo que no conoces la voz de tu propia madre? a veces me preocupo por ti Carlos."

Carlos.. carlos?!

This isn't Carlos' phone. This is mine!

"Ma'am, I think you have the wrong number, my name is TK Strand of the Austin Fire Department. Are you looking for Carlos Reyes?"

"Si!"

TK laughs, "un momento, por favor."

The line is quiet; TK sets down the phone and keys up the radio.

"Hey, Grace?"

"Yes, 118?" The voice of the dispatcher calls back.

"Can you send Officer Reyes over here, please? I think we have a situation over the phone.."

"10-4, 118."

A few minutes later, Carlos' squad car pulls up into the bay.

"What's up, tiger? Dispatch said to book it over."

TK just hands the phone over.

"I think I just met your mom over the phone."

"What?" Carlos brought the phone up to his ear, then blushed. Tk heard frantic Spanish as his boyfriend stepped away.

When he was finished, Carlos rejoined TK who was leaning against the patrol car.

"So, apparently we swapped phones this morning in the rush out the door.. and you met my mother."
