The Soldier Of Fortune
Past Arc
Introduction
"Boring."
"Dull."
"Average"...these are words people would use to describe me at first glance.
On the outside, yeah. I look like your average American 17 year old.
Average-ish height (5'10.5 and still growing), light brown hair, bright green eyes...the only things I'd consider truly unique about my appearance is the "ahoge" standing tall and proud on my head, my welcoming demeanor, "fashion sense", and muscular physique.
Apparently the "ahoge" thing, and the muscular physique are common genetic traits in my family. Not sure about the "ahoge" though, that might have come from my mother's side of the family.
But, looks can be deceiving.
I'm Makoto Naegi. Sergeant Major Makoto Naegi of the 75th Ranger Regiment to be specific.
Maybe it's the last name that gives it away? IF it is, then that's because you probably have heard the name "Akira Naegi" in history class. Yes, we're related. I'm the great grandson of the famous Japanese immigrant turned American general, and war hero, Akira Naegi.
If you haven't caught on already, then i'll tell you up front.
My father, his father, and I, are what you could consider "Prodigies". Nearly every member in the Naegi family harbors a strange knack for almost all things warfare related. Whether it be combat aptitude, strategic prowess, or even our "sixth sense" which basically boils down to high intellect mixed with almost completely unrivaled perception, to create an almost superhuman sense of situational awareness.
To further prove that we are indeed prodigies, my father "Yuto Naegi", attended the prestigious government funded high school "Hope's Peak Academy" as the Ex-Ultimate Soldier of Class 52. Also not to mention the fact that I have a combat record of approximately 458 confirmed kills, with another 213 wounded and or maimed, and have the scars to prove so. (keep in mind I've only been on tour for 3 years, 2 of which was with the 75th Ranger Regiment)
I am also currently waiting to receive an invitation to HPA.
Whether or not that invitation ever comes is left to pure luck, which is something I seem to have a lot of nowadays.
A/N : This is just an introduction to this Makoto, next i'll be writing chapter 0, the prologue. Also if you haven't caught on already, yes, this is a fanfic where danganronpa and the events that take place at Hope's Peak Academy, take place in America instead of japan. This is mainly because of my westernized style of writing, and it would be pretty awkward to write a story that takes place in japan with characters that speak like they're from the Midwest United States, so to remedy that, i changed the location to my home nation. (Besides, i know a helluva lot more about american government and military than the Japanese equivalent)
