I do not own the Harry Potter series, I'm just borrowing it from our Queen J.K. Rowling. Please enjoy the story.
Chapter One:
June, 1960
"What do you mean you're going to be busy during your free period?!" Aberforth Dumbledore shouted at his Wife.
"Like I said, I'm supervising a study hall that period, so if any of my students have any questions for me, I will be there to answer them." Minerva McGonagall said calmly looking at Aberforth. They've been dating for 5 years, and been married for 3. They got together once Minerva finished her Transfiguration Apprenticeship in 1955. There was a 51 year age difference between the two, but neither of them minded as they loved each other very much. Minerva started teaching at Hogwarts in 1956, while Aberforth was working on research projects. "We can do something tonight if I'm not busy."
"If you're not busy?" Aberforth said incurdesouly. "For Merlin's sake we haven't had sex in over a bloody month!"
"Sex?" Minerva asks, not believing what Aberforth just said. "Is sex all you care about? Do you actually care about me?" Minerva whispers to him.
"Of course I care about you, but it's hard to care about someone when you hardly see them!" Aberforth said furiously. "You don't even make time for me!"
Minerva scoffed at Aberforth. "Oh please, I always make time for you, even if I don't have time for my damn self!"
"Are you calling me a liar?" Aberforth asks dangerously stepping closer to Minerva.
"I didn't mean it like th-" Minerva said, defending herself but was cut off upon being slapped in the face which caused her to fall backwards on the ground.
"You should know better than to call me a liar Minerva." Aberforth said standing over her.
"I-I'm sorry." Minerva stuttered, holding her cheek already feeling blood seeping through the wound that Aberforth caused with the ring that was on his hand. She knew she would have to cast a glamour on it, to prevent others from seeing it, but it would be kind of hard, as she already had a glamour over her right eye which was black from when Aberforth punched it last week during their last disagreement.
"I know you are." Aberforth muttered, turning his back to Minerva, grabbing his cloak from off the couch. "I'm going out." Aberforth muttered walking out of the door in their quarters, slamming it behind him.
Minerva sighed pushing herself off the ground wincing as she touched her cheek. 'I better go visit Poppy so she can heal this.' Minerva thought using her wand to cast a glamor charm on her cheek where the cut was. Minerva took a deep breath before looking around the room before exiting her quarters.
Minerva walked through the hallways briskly on her way to the Hospital Wing trying to avoid being spotted by any Professors that she may encounter along the way.
"Afternoon Professor McGonagall." A seventh year Ravenclaw said as her Professor was walking past her.
"Good Afternoon Ms. Gaynes." Minerva replied not stopping to properly look at her student to speak to her. 'I can't believe he said I don't have time for him, but is he actually right?' Minerva thought to herself. Sometimes he would wait up for her in their bedroom, but she would be so exhausted when she enters their quarters, she would just kiss him on the cheek, change into her gown, and crawl into bed next to him, and would most of the time be sleeping before her head even hits the pillow. "Maybe I don't make time for him." Minerva said to herself as she turned the corner before the hospital wing, accidentally walking into someone, causing her to fall flat on her bottom. "Watch where you're going." Minerva snaps towards the person she bumped into.
"I'm sorry Professor McGonagall." A man with twinkling blue eyes said holding out his hand for her to take.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, I'm so sorry! I was walking and I wasn't paying attention, I'm so sorry." Minerva said babbling as she took his offered hand standing up, and fell silent upon seeing Albus raise his hand.
"No harm done my dear." Albus said, waving her off. "It's my fault just as much as it's yours." Albus chuckled. "No classes this period?" Albus asks studying her face noticing the blackened eye and gash that was on her cheek. Albus was able to see through the glamour, but he wouldn't tell her that as she would probably believe that he was invading her privacy. This wasn't the first time he noticed Minerva wearing a glamour on her face. He knew that his brother was rough, but he didn't think that he would actually hit a woman.
"No, this is my free period, I was just on my way to the hospital wing to ask Poppy something." Minerva partially lied. She was going to see Poppy in the hospital wing, but not just to ask her something. "Don't worry, I'm fine." Minerva noticed the concerned look that appeared on his face after she mentioned the hospital wing.
"Well, I've best let you go then." Albus said, sighing knowing that she was lying, but there was no need for him to call her up on it. She would tell him when he was ready for her to know. "No need to keep you waiting. Tell my dear brother I said hello for me." Albus said, patting Minerva's shoulder before continuing to walk down the hallway popping a lemon drop into his mouth.
"What an odd man." Minerva mutters before pushing the door to the hospital wing open sighing in relief as she noticed it was empty. "Poppy!" Minerva shouted walking down the row of hospital beds before sitting on one that was near the back as Poppy exited her office.
"Yes Minerva, what can I do for you today?" Poppy said walking over to the sink to wash her hands.
"Yes, I need you to heal something for me, please." Minerva whispered the last part.
"He's at it again isn't he?" Poppy asked her, sadly drying her hands with a towel.
"It's alright, not as bad as last time, but it still needs to be healed." Minerva said as she removed the glamour charm that was on her cheek. She didn't want to remove the one that was on her eye as it would only make Poppy ask her more questions.
"Oh Min." Poppy muttered as she looked at the gash on her cheek before walking to the cabinet to retrieve supplies to clean the wound.
"This may burn a bit." Poppy said sympathetically before placing a towel on the wound.
"Damn it Poppy, that hurts!" Minerva McGonagall flinched as Poppy placed the towel on her cheek. This wasn't the first time she'd been in the hospital wing with Poppy having to clean her wound, but that didn't mean that she was prepared for the terrible stinging sensation.
"If you would hold still it wouldn't hurt as much." Poppy, muttered, cleaning the wound.
"I'm sorry." Minerva sighed wincing as she felt Poppy place a bandage on her cheek.
"It's alright dear." Poppy patted her shoulder in sympathy sitting next to Minerva on the bed.
"It wasn't his fault." Minerva said quietly. "Aberforth just forgets how busy I get with my students during exam time, especially with the 5th and 7th years. But he's right, I never have time to spend with him." Minerva said sadly.
"It's going to be okay Min. The school year is almost over, and you'll have all summer to spend time with him." Poppy said, trying to cheer her friend up. In Poppy's opinion it really wasn't Minerva's fault that she didn't have to spend with Aberforth, but he should understand that she was busy with exams and other things that were going on. She didn't tell this to Minerva as she didn't want her friend to get upset with her, so she only supported her.
"Yes, we'll have all summer to spend together. Just the two of us." Minerva smiles, feeling slightly better that the school year was almost done. She was going to make it up to Aberforth over the summer, even if it was the last thing that she would do.
