Alex hiked up the hill, looking around him in preparation for another monster attack. As Alex began to crest the hill, the sound of ringing metal and laughter filled his ears. Alex looked forward, shocked to see an entire camp in front of him. He looked behind him, at the coast, and remembered how he saw nothing when he was standing there. He mentally shrugged and started walking towards the camp.

Alex could smell the salt from the ocean, and took a deep breath, breathing in the scent. For some reason, Alex loved the water and would take any chance he could get to get in it and swim.

"Hello young man," A deep voice said suddenly from behind him.

Alex grabbed one of his axes from off his back and spun around, prepared to attack whoever or whatever was behind him.

"No need for violence, young man. I'm a friend." The same person replied in an amused tone.

The first thing Alex noticed was the man's height, being almost as tall as him which wasn't easy to accomplish. The next thing he noticed was that he wasn't a man, he was a horseman.

"Who are you?" Alex asked warily, raising his axe a little bit.

The horseman smiled lightly.

"I am Chiron, the director of this camp."

"Why do you have four legs?" Alex asked, unable to take his eyes off of the said legs.

The man laughed lightly and started walking towards the camp.

"I'm a Centar, and that means I'm part horse. Walk with me."

"Not until I know why you're here. Why I got a letter to come here."

Chiron sighed and gestured for Alex to put his axe away.

"Follow me and everything will be explained."

Alex put away his axe and followed Chiron, satisfied with his answer.

"So, Chiron, what is this place?" Alex asked once they passed a large pine tree.

"This is Camp Halfblood, and that means you have a godly parent. One of the Greek gods."

Alex continued walking, not noticing his surroundings.

"My father, I'm assuming. But he was KIA overseas. I have his dog tags right here."

Alex rummaged through his pack, pulling out a dog tag with the name Asher Rogers.

Chiron chuckled, then patted Alex on the shoulder.

"I can guarantee that your father is still alive. The dog tags just make it easier to figure out which one it is."

Alex laughed, then put away the tags.

"Who is he?"

Chiron stopped, then turned to Alex.

"Ares, the god of war."

Alex looked up and immediately saw a dark red cabin with barbed wire and assorted landmines scattered around.

"Yeah, I think you might be right."

Alex entered the cabin, and immediately had his senses assaulted by the smell of blood, and the number of deadly weapons lying around on the desks and floor. Everything in the cabin was coated with a thin layer of dust, and as Alex walked around, he picked up some of the unfinished pieces and dusted them off. Many of them looked like normal weapons, but Alex could sense the destructive capabilities within each of them and knew he had to keep them hidden.

"Where would a good hiding spot be?"

Alex walked behind the wall in the middle of his cabin and saw a huge statue of Ares with his spear and shield out. What really caught his attention, though, was that the shield was thicker than it should be.

Laughing, Alex began to search for a way to open it up. He felt along the side of the shield, rubbing his fingers along the edge, looking for a crack or switch. Then he looked all over the statue, finding nothing anywhere near it.

Where the Hades is it? He thought to himself after an hour, getting frustrated.

After another hour, Alex lost his temper and punched the shield as hard as he could. The shield fell down with a loud thud, almost crushing Alex on its way down to the ground. When the shield fell down, it expelled a lot of dust, causing Alex to start coughing wildly.

"What the Hades?"

When the dust cleared, Alex began to move all of the deadliest weapons into the storage space, cleaning them up before putting them away. Once he was finished, he wiped the sweat from his forehead and put the shield back on over the weapons, effectively sealing the items away.

"Now it's time to find something to d-"

Alex fell to the ground as a blinding pain ripped through his chest, stealing his breath from him and causing his vision to go blurry. Gasping for breath, Alex laid there as he slowly faded into darkness.
