Promises and Passion

It was her third day living in the Naruto world and she was simultaneously having the best and worst time. Lounging about with the Copy ninja was fun in that she could just relax and hang out like best friends. The problem was, Fei was worried about someone finding out about her before they could come up with a solid plan. It was too dangerous to tell anyone else about her circumstances because nobody would believe them.

Not that she could blame anyone. She hardly believed it herself at first. It still amazed her every time she saw herself in the mirror and any evidence of her ordeal was nowhere to be seen. Like it never happened. The suffering and stress were like distant memories.

She prepared herself for another boring day but was surprised when Kakashi was nowhere to be found. Maybe he went out or had to go on a mission? Well, no point in waiting around for him. And it wasn't like she could go out looking for him. With a shrug, she went ahead and got breakfast ready.

Fei had just sat at the small table to eat when Kakashi returned. When he joined her at the table with his own plate of food, he announced, "I have a week long mission. I'll be leaving tomorrow."

"Ah, so that's where you went." She picked up her empty plate and took it to the sink. "I guess I'll be stuck here until you get back, huh?"

He made a noise in affirmation as he chewed a bite of bacon. After he swallowed, he added, "I'll go pick up whatever you'll need for the week, so don't worry."

She took his plate when he was done and he disappeared in the bedroom. When the dishes were clean and put away, she settled onto the couch to finish reading her book. When he came back out she did a double take.

"Why are you wearing that?" she asked, narrowing her eyes.

"It would look suspicious if I bought a bunch of groceries just before a long mission," was his reply. She couldn't fault his logic.

He had her write down a list of things she would need before heading out, assuring her he would be back soon. Fei felt her anxiety begin to build but she forced it away. She made herself busy by cleaning around the apartment again.

It was after noon and Fei was making sandwiches when he finally got back. She made a face at his Sukea disguise before offering him a sandwich. "So, how often do you use this disguise? Does anyone know about it?"

He shook his head. "I typically use it during long solo missions when I need to be undercover."

She hummed with interest but didn't ask any more questions. It was none of her business anyway. After lunch, he took off his disguise and had Fei stand in the living room.

"Ok, so what's going on?" Her curiously was eating at her as he stalled.

Kakashi scratched the back of his head before asking, "Do you like dogs?"

Fei blinked at him. What did that have- wait she vaguely recalled he had a pack of them. Where have they been this whole time? "Well, yea, who doesn't?"

"In that case, there are a few someone's who would like to meet you." And that was all the warning she got before he summoned his entire pack to the living room.

Fei was in heaven.

After a few minutes of being in a literal dog pile being bombarded with kisses and lots of excited squealing from her, Kakashi was able to reign them in and introduce her.

"They're so cute! How come you didn't introduce me sooner?" she asked, scratching behind Pakkun's ear.

Kakashi only shrugged before going into the kitchen and pulling out all their bowls and placing them along the wall.

Once every dog was happily chowing down, he gestured for her to take a seat on the couch and he sat beside her.

"This mission could take longer than a week but I'll try to be back as soon as possible. I'm afraid you'll have to stay in here and you won't be able to leave until then," he explained, taking off the wig and running a hand through his hair.

Fei nodded, knowing it would be too risky to leave the apartment while he was gone. If someone noticed her, it would seem suspicious. "I figured as much. Don't worry, I'll make sure to keep quiet."

Kakashi spoke again before she could add anything else. "I'll be leaving Pakkun here with you so you won't be completely alone."

Fei nodded, then asked. "You said you'd be leaving tomorrow? Have you packed yet?"

Kakashi made a nonverbal sound in the affirmative. "I always have a pack ready in case I get a mission on short notice but I'll go over it again and make sure I have everything before I leave."

Fei shifted her weight from one foot to the other. "So what exactly is this mission? Is it far away?"

He nodded then shrugged, "I can't give you much information. It's classified."

She didn't bring up the fact that she obviously would never reveal any of his secrets, never mind classified information from missions. It didn't make much difference to her, though. A lot of the details from the anime were lost to her as she hadn't watched it in so long. She could only recall the bigger plot points and character information. Fei was still debating on telling him about the fact that his life was a fictional story where she came from. As of now, she was undecided.

She only sighed and waved a hand dismissively as she leaned back. "Makes no difference to me. Just promise you'll make it back alive in one piece."

His fond smile made her feel warm and fuzzy and she quickly moved on to a more lighthearted topic. They spent the rest of the day like that, enjoying each other's company.

That night, Fei's worried thoughts plagued her. She'd seen him many times after returning home from dangerous missions. Not that she knew if it was going to be dangerous or not this time, but the point still stood. She couldn't count how many times she'd had to patch him up before holding him close to help him relax and get to sleep.

Thinking about it made her fidgety and anxious until Kakashi finally turned to face her. She gave him a sheepish smile before quietly apologizing. He shushed her before gesturing her closer. Fei should have felt more awkward or embarrassed but she was too tired and stressed. She buried herself in his warm embrace, inhaling his scent and finding comfort in the strength of his arms.

Finally, she was able to fall asleep to the steady beat of his heart.

Kakashi wasn't sure what exactly made him do it but somehow he found it in himself to initiate physical contact with Fei. The same Fei he couldn't decide what he felt towards. Fortunately, he was too tired to think much except that having her in his arms was nice and that he should do this more often. Her soft body was pressed against his and it just felt right. Like she was meant to be there.

Those thoughts were the last he had before he drifted off to sleep.

He woke as the sun rose and found that she had completely wrapped herself around him. Her arms were looped around his neck and one leg was over his hip. Her light snores would have made him laugh... except he was too busy trying to ignore the fact that his face was buried between two very soft breasts. How he ended up like this he couldn't even begin to guess.

Kakashi tried to pry her arms off but they only tightened and forced his face further into her chest. At this rate he was going to suffocate. Would that really be a bad thing, though?

Shut up, now's not the time. Important mission, remember? Right.

This time he tried removing her leg, only for it to move right back where it was. He sighed. He was going to have to wake her up. Of course, if he took a moment to enjoy the sensation... nobody could blame him, right? He pulled his head back as much as he could before saying, "Fei, wake up. It's getting hard to breathe."

She stirred and groaned softly before clenching and burying him further into her chest. Drowsily, she buried her face in his hair and hummed in content before falling back asleep.

Well, that didn't work. A small part of him wondered vaguely if she knew how dangerous her breasts were to his existence.

He tried being nice, so now he was going to have to be not-so-nice. He rolled them over so he was above her, hoping gravity would do the rest. Unfortunately, this caused her to wake up. This meant, in her blind panic, she clung tightly to him and did exactly the opposite of what he was hoping. He poked her in the side which caused her to make a funny noise and twitch violently. It was only then that she must have realized their position because she immediately released him and landed back on the bed with a soft thump. The jiggle of her breasts attracted his attention before he lifted his gaze to her reddened face.

"I... I'm so sorry!" Fei buried her face in her hands.

Kakashi felt his own cheeks warm as he gave her an embarrassed grin. "Not the worst way to wake up."

She peaked at him through her fingers and pursed her lips. "Methinks he enjoyed himself a bit too much."

"Maybe," was all he said. His grin stretched into a smirk before he sat up and got out of bed.

She just rolled her eyes and buried herself in the sheets. "It's too early," she grumbled.

He shook his head in amusement before he left to take a shower and gather his things. When he finished, he went to say goodbye to Fei only to find she had drifted off again. He leaned over her and whispered, "I'll be taking off now. See you in a week."

She pried open one eye and mumbled lazily, "See ya."

Just as he was straightening back up he heard her whisper "love you". Kakashi froze, his eyes wide. His brain nearly shut down until he noticed she was very much asleep and probably didn't realize she had said it to him. He squashed the pang of disappointment at that realization, now was not the time for this.

Reminding Pakkun to protect Fei and watch over the apartment, he enabled the traps set up on the front door and was gone.

It was 8 days later, late in the afternoon, when Kakashi finally came back and he wasn't alone. Well, he was alone but... hm...

Fei squinted at the Copy ninja who had just stepped through the front door with... a woman who looked very much like her but wearing different clothes.

"Where did you find my evil twin?" was all she could say.

Kakashi chuckled before dismissing the henged clone who burst into a cloud of smoke that disappeared after a few seconds. "I had an idea while on that last mission. I've already gotten your paperwork sorted and you'll soon be an official refugee from the land of Water looking to start fresh in Konoha."

Fei blinked up at him from the couch. "Ok," she said, blandly. "Anything I should know about?"

He proceeded to tell her the cover story he made up for her. That she was a resident of one of the islands that had been ransacked by pirates and she was the last of her family. Deciding to forgo Kirigakure, she asked to join Kakashi and become a citizen of Konoha instead. With no prior training as a ninja, nobody could fault her for wanting to stay away from the Hidden Mist village.

Fei absorbed all the information and gave him a nod. "Got it. I doubt anyone would ask for specifics and I can make up most of it anyway." She took a deep breath and then relaxed further into the couch. "Now what? I guess I'll need to find my own place."

He held up a key. "Already done. The apartment complex across the road had an opening," he said with a shrug.

She looked up at him in astonishment. "Uh, ok? Thanks." Fei stood up and wrapped her hand around the key but didn't pull away immediately. She took a step closer, wrapped her other hand around his wrist and looked straight into his eyes. "Are you feeling ok?"

Kakashi went stiff, looking at the spot between her eyes. He made an affirmative noise but nothing more.

Hm, suspicious. "You sure? No injuries that maybe you should get checked out at the hospital?" Her eyes narrowed and she felt his pulse jump.

Kakashi gave her one of his fake smiles from beneath his mask and winced. "I'll be fine."

Fei gave him her most unimpressed look before releasing him and walking towards the bathroom. "I'll get the first aid kit. Don't you DARE hide any injuries from me! I don't care how small they are."

Kakashi sighed in exasperation but obliged, knowing she would make his life a living hell if he didn't listen. Normally he wouldn't be so nervous about taking off his mask and shirt in front of her but... he suddenly remembered the words she half-mumbled in her sleep when he left for his mission. They had haunted him every night while he was away but he refused to think about it during the day.

Pakkun was eyeing him from his place on the couch, where he had been relaxing with Fei before his return. "Something bothering you, boss?"

Kakashi just sighed and waved a hand dismissively. "Later, Pakkun."

The pug took in Kakashi's tired demeanor and nodded slowly. They would talk later. He dismissed himself, leaving the Copy ninja in Fei's care.

Fei returned with the first aid kit but paused when she noticed he was still fully clothed. She looked him up and down before gesturing towards the bathroom. "Perhaps you would feel better after a bath and a meal. Go ahead and wash up, I'll get dinner ready."

Kakashi nearly sighed in relief and nodded before walking towards the bedroom to get a fresh pair of clothes. Her next sentence nearly gave him a heart attack.

"Don't bother getting dressed when you're done. I'll patch you up before we eat." Her tone was casual but Kakashi felt his heart rate speed up and he had to force himself to keep nonchalant as he continued toward the bathroom. Once inside, he leaned against the door and held his burning face in his hands. That woman was going to be the death of him.

After bathing (and doing his best to keep any strange thoughts out of his head) he came back out into the bedroom in nothing but a towel and a clean mask. Fei was waiting for him on the bed. She raised a brow at him, or rather the mask.

"Feeling shy?" she drawled, one side of her mouth quirking up in a smirk. "I promise I won't bite."

He deadpanned. "I don't believe you," is what he said, though his thoughts had gone down a different path. He did his best to force them away.

She stood and then motioned towards the spot she vacated. "Well, come on. The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can eat."

Kakashi sighed and took a seat on the bed.

"And take the mask off," she added.

He was sorely tempted to just leave and come back when she was asleep. But he obeyed, grudgingly.

"Alright. Looks like there's nothing serious so it shouldn't take too long," she remarked, eyeing the few scratches and bruises on his arms, torso, and face. The worst one was where he had been punched in the face, his cheek was slightly swollen and there was a nasty cut but the bone was fine and it only hurt if he smiled.

She meticulously tended each cut and carefully checked every bruise, applying bandages where necessary. Finally she came to his cheek and paused. With gentle hands she applied cream and stuck a plaster, making sure not to cause him any unnecessary pain. He was enraptured by her steady but soft manner, remembering all the times she tended to him growing up. When Fei was done, she paused and reached with both hands to cup his face. She held him delicately like he would break if she put too much pressure. It should have bothered him but the amount of care in her movements and the soft expression on her face prevented him from feeling anything but the warmth he usually felt in her presence.

"I always worry you'll get hurt on missions. I'm glad this time you didn't..." she trailed off, unable to continue.

He closed his eyes and placed his hands over hers. "I made a promise."

Then she kissed him. It was so gentle he almost didn't feel it when she pressed her lips to his forehead. His eyes shot open and he felt his face grow warm. Fei was also blushing and she was smiling at him.

Then she stood up and the moment was over before he could process what just happened.

"Come on, I'm sure you're hungry. There wasn't much left but I made your favorite."

That got his attention. He waited until she closed the bedroom door behind her before putting on a clean pair of clothes.

They enjoyed a quiet dinner that was only partially awkward. Then Kakashi announced he was going to bed early as he was tired and would probably need to be up early tomorrow to help he get settled into her new apartment. To his dread, Fei decided to take a shower and then turn in early as well.

He only hoped he could fall asleep quickly. She tended to take long showers, maybe he had a chance.

Fei was nearly done in the shower before she realized she had forgotten to grab a pair of pajamas beforehand. She had gotten so used to living alone the past week that she hadn't thought about it. Well. What now?

After drying her hair as best as she could, she wrapped herself up in the towel and quietly peaked into the bedroom. He was turned away from her and seemed to have already fallen asleep. She knew he was a light sleeper, so she would have to keep as quiet as possible. As she was not a ninja... well, maybe he'd realize it was her and just go back to sleep.

She should have known better.

She crept into the room and toward the closet. As carefully as she could, she pushed open the closet door... only to find herself pressed firmly against it in the blink of an eye.

"Kakashi! It's just me!" Fei struggled but his grip was firm, almost bruising. "Kakashi, please!" Suddenly she was free and she turned to look at him. "Jeez, you scared me!"

He made to apologize but his eyes suddenly widened and focused downward. Any words died on his tongue because Fei had forgotten she was only in a towel and it had come loose and fell when he released her. Oops.

Fei froze, unsure if she should try to cover herself back up or tell him to turn around so she could quickly get dressed. "Um... Kakashi?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Her thought process fizzled out at the intense look in his eyes as they slowly trailed back up.

"Kakashi?"

He stepped closer, she didn't move. He closed in, like a predator cornering it's prey. What could he possibly be thinking? And then he was pressed against her, his firm body against hers sent a tingling sensation through her body. She tried opening her mouth to speak but found she couldn't. His hand reached up and she didn't look away from his eyes as he cupped her cheek.

"Tell me to stop."

She blinked, looking up at him in confusion. "What?"

"If you don't tell me to stop, I won't be able to hold myself back," he explained.

He wanted her to tell him to stop but... did she want him to stop? It had been so long since she had been intimate with someone. And she was at least attracted to Kakashi. If he felt the same, why not?

She closed her eyes and leaned into his touch. "Who said I wanted you to stop?"

She was startled when she felt him press his lips softly to hers but she didn't waste much time responding. Fei was dreaming, she had to be. Kissing her favorite character from one of her favorite shows as a teenager? Yea, definitely dreaming. Except...

The warmth of his body and the soft lips pressed against her own were proof that she wasn't.

Kakashi deepened the kiss as the hand on her cheek moved to the back of her head. The other arm he wrapped around her to place his hand on her bare back, pressing her closer. Fei wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down and running her tongue over his lips. Then they were tasting each other, tentative yet hungry. Cautious but longing.

She wasn't sure when it happened but suddenly she was lifted into the air and placed gently on the bed. His rough hands were everywhere, exploring her body gentle but desperate. Her own hands ran up his chest, shoulders, neck and finally buried themselves in his hair and pulled him back down for another kiss. Her gasps were muffled by his lips and suddenly he was trailing kisses down her jaw, neck and shoulder until he came to her breasts and she arched her back as he licked, sucked and nipped. When he was satisfied, he trailed kisses down further before tasting her. She writhed beneath him, grasping the sheets and crying out in pleasure. Just as she was about to reach her peak, he returned to kissing her lips and she dug her nails into his shoulders in frustration. She felt his smirk and she growled at him.

He pulled back, amusement and lust in his mismatched eyes. "What's the matter, Fei?" His voice was deep and rough with arousal and it sent shivers down her spine.

She glared up at him. "Finish what you started."

The lust in his eyes intensified. "Are you sure?"

She nodded and pulled him down for another mind-blowing kiss. His hands trailed down her sides slowly until they reached her hips. She whined when he stopped and pulled back. He smirked and finally positioned himself at her entrance. He looked into her eyes, looking for something. Fei reached up and held his face in her hands like she did earlier, meeting his gaze with her own. Warm and loving.

That seemed to be what he was waiting for because he slowly entered her. He was a little bigger than average and she felt pleasure and pain as her walls adjusted to him. When he was finally completely in, she encouraged him to keep moving. She was no virgin, she doubted he was either. He started slow, then gradually sped up until they were both panting and sweating. Fei was no porcelain doll and said as much and then his movements became faster and tougher and she couldn't keep up with him anymore. She hit her peak several times before he finally allowed himself to reach his own climax. Remembering to pull out, he then collapsed on top of her and then rolled to the side.

After a few moments to catch their breath, she buried herself into his side and that's how they fell asleep.

Hello all you beautiful people! Now you might think their relationship is a bit rushed but they have known each other for quite a while now even though I haven't really given much details. Yet. I can't really see either character doing a whole lot of dating and romance anyway. And I never planned on making this very long to begin with but I'll try to make this at least 10 chapters. This is meant to be lighthearted with splashes of drama. Team 7 will probably come in next chapter.

I'm sorry for taking so long but it's a lot harder to type with a broken arm! It's pretty much healed now, so I'm good to continue writing! hopefully I'll have the next chapter out soon! Also, I haven't edited this chapter yet so if you see any typos or grammatical errors, do let me know!

Adios!
