Michelle's Pov: I woke up to my alarm clock blaring in my ear. I hit the off button and get myself out of bed. "Today's the day, Michelle" I said to myself, determination in my voice. The reason why I said that was because I'm finally going to ask my dad if I can finally work out in the field, like a real spy. It has always been my life long dream to be a great spy just like him since like, forever. I have been doing some training and such, so I am qualified to go on missions, but I guess my dad doesn't see that. I love him and everything, but he can be very protective of me. I tried asking him a couple years back, but he straight up told me that it was too dangerous for a girl my age. In his own words, he says he feels more comfortable that I work in the tech lab, where there's less danger and bad guys to handle (don't see how there could be less danger in a lab, seeing as there's a lot of dangerous weapons in there, but oh well). Now don't get me wrong, I love working there. I get to work weapons for my dad, for other spies, and I even work some personal projects for myself. But I want to do more than just that. I'm ready to go out there and show my dad that I can do it, I can handle myself out in the field. I'm older, taller, and ready as I'll ever be. After an hour of taking a shower, getting myself dressed and looking presentable, I was ready for the day. "You can do this" I said to myself again, as I make my way out of my apartment and to my car. Before I stepped out the door, though, I quickly look at a small picture frame that stood on a table by the doorway. It had a picture of me and my mom when I was little. I smiled sadly at it, thinking about my mom. "Wish me luck, Mom" I said to it, exiting the door and headed to my car. I turned it on, put it on drive, and drove to H.T.U.V.
I drove for twenty-thirty minutes until I finally get to HQ parking lot. I go through the main lobby and greeted the security lady that was there, who was really nice, by the way. I then make my way to the elevator that'll lead me down to the tech lab. Once I got down there, I can see Dad getting the tech he needed for themission he was tasked to take. 'Okay, Michelle, it's now or never' I thought. After I took a deep sigh, I make my way over to him. He takes notice of me approaching and a smile appears on his face. "Ah, there's my little girl" he said, moving in to hug me. "Hey Dad" I said, returning the hug. "So, how's it going? Was there a lot of traffic on the way here?" he asks me. "Oh, uh, everything's going fine. Traffic wasn't too bad, it was pretty decent" I tell him. "That's nice" he said, distractedly as someone greets him. I couldn't help but shake my head a little. 'Lance Sterling, aka my father who's also abig shot charmer' I thought to myself. My dad then looks at the time on his watch and his eyes slightly widens. "Oh boy, better get myself moving now. See ya later, kiddo" he said to me, giving me a side hug. "Wait, wait, Dad, real quick, can I ask you something?" I said, walking with him. "Sure, sure you can, Michelle. Wait, you're not gonna tell me you're pregnant are you?" he said. I instantly blush as he said that. "What? No, no I'm not- I'm not even seeing anybody!" I exclaim, my voice almost rising. "Good, that's good because of two reasons. One, I would've beat the guy senseless, and two, I don't think I'm ready to be hearing the word 'Grampy' yet" he tells me. "Dad, stop, I'm not-" I was going to say, but his laughter interrupted me. "I'm justmessing with you, Michelle" he said. I awkwardly laugh at him. "Yea, right, right" I mutter. "Okay, what did you want to ask me about?" he said, stopping in front of the elevator.
I almost kind of hesitated at first, trying to figure out what I wanted to say. 'Come on, Michelle, you can do this! Ask him straight out! Don't hold back!' I mentally told myself. "Um, Dad, what I wanted to ask you was, um. Well, you know that I'm nineteen now, and that kinda got me thinking. Nineteen seems like the perfect age to go out and do some field work, if you know what I mean. And who better to show me the ropes than the one and only Lance Sterling. So, what I wanted to ask you was...will you finally let me go out on missions with you, and possibly let me do some solo missions?" I ask him, an awkward smile on my face. Not even giving himself time to think, he said "Michelle, we've been over this. You know that it'stoo dangerous and risky". "Yea, I know that. But I have been training and better preparing myself for any deadly situation" I argued. "Look, I'm sorry, but you're just not ready for these kinds of things" he tells me. "What do you mean I'm not ready for these things? How come you won't let me-" I was going to continue, but he suddenly speaksto me in a serious voice"Michelle, I said no". Seeing as there was no changing his mind, I instantly sighed and stepped back, away from him. "Michelle, I just don't want anything bad happening to you. I promised your mom that I world look out and protect you, and I intend to keep that promise" he explains. Upon hearing him talk about my mother, I look up at him, wanting to say something, but I couldn't find any other words to say. "Yea, I get that" I managed to say. Before either of us couldsay anything else, we hear the elevator ding and the doors swing open. Dad looks at the elevator, then back at me. "Look, we'll talk more about this later, okay?" he said. "Yea, okay" I said, turning around and making my way back down the stairs of the lab. "Michelle" I heard him say my name. I turn back around, seeing him giving me a comforting smile. "I love you, kiddo" he said. I softly smile up at him and said "love you too, Dad". With that being said, he gives me a thumbs up as the elevator doors close in front of him. When he was out of sight, the smile on my face faltered. I should've known he would've said something like that. I then start to make my way to my work space down in the lab, a disappointed look upon my face.
