No one's POV:
"Siiiigh, crud damnit." Minoru sighed as he sat on a bench at the local park.
He had gone to his favorite comic shop to find some new off brand doujins, however they didn't have anything he hadn't read already. So defeated he went to the park to sit for a while, he didn't feel like heading back to the dorms.
To be honest, he wasn't feeling too confident about the provisional licencing exams coming up very soon. Though he didn't show it, even if he did. It's not like anyone would really care besides Denki.
He seriously didn't want to fail and he was afraid his new grape whip skill wouldn't be enough. He needed some kinda game changer. Sigh...Easier said than. As he pulled himself out of his thoughts he realized there was someone else sitting on the bench next to him. An adult man with short brown curly hair and green eyes and glasses. He had on a long dark brown trench coat as well and held a steel suitcase. As Minoru looked at him...he saw the man looked pretty distressed.
Like he was worried to death about something. This kinda got Minoru's attention and since he didn't really have anything better to do, he called out to the man to see what was up.
"Hey dude. You okay?" Minoru spoke out to the man, gaining his attention with a small startled jump. Did he not notice him sit here? Then again Minoru didn't even notice he was sitting here either.
"Oh um. Yes...I am." The man said in a soft and shaky tone. Minoru wasn't too convinced, he could see that he was lying.
"C'mon, dude. Wassup? Got dumped? Got some big date? Finally meeting the parents? She called saying she's pregnant? I would totally see you being stressed out about that." Minoru asked scooting a bit closer.
"W-What?! No, no and no. Sigh...I do not have a woman in my life." The man groaned adjusting his glasses.
"Ahhh. Heh...well wassup then? Job kicking your ass?" Minoru leaned back on the bench with his hands behind his head.
"You...could say that." The man heaved a sigh and ran a hand through his hair.
"Oof, rough man. Want my advice? Get a girl dude. Trust me, it'll make work seem A LOT less soul crushing knowing you got a sexy, curvy and wholesome girl to come back to!~" Minoru smiled, drooling slightly.
" I...see...huh…( Hmm. Okay he's certainly not 100% in the head...and that may actually work out for me. MAY being the key word. Let's see here. )" The man began to examine Minoru.
"Uuuh, what are you doing?" Minoru raised an eyebrow as he scooted away from the man a bit.
"Nothing just. What's a little boy like you doing out here alone?" The man asked with a calm tone and look to set Minoru at ease.
"AGHH. I'm not a little boy. I'm 16 dude." Minoru corrected him. The man's eyes widened at this.
"( 16? Ah, probably just genetics. 16 huh? I wonder…)" The man rubbed his chin.
"Tell me boy. Are you striving to be a hero?" The man asked Minoru.
"Hell yeah I am! I even got into UA!" Minoru smirked cockily.
"Ahhh, UA I see. Is it rough?" The man questioned the boy again leaning forward putting his hands together and turned his head to keep eye contact with Minoru.
"Well...yeah I won't lie it's pretty rough for me at least. It's pretty hard to keep up with my classements. Well not with ALL of them but ya know. Enough to struggle." Minoru's facade dropped and he rubbed his neck with a very conflicted expression.
"I see, do you not have a very strong quirk?" The man tilted his head.
"Kinda yeah, I mean it's super bad. It can be really useful but the thing is, at times it really needs time for me to set up to use to its full potential and it's got a really heavy drawback that can really mess things up for me." Minoru explained while making sure not to give off any unnecessary information.
"Hmm. I see. ( I shouldn't ask what his quirk is or how it works. I can't have him being suspicious of me. I need him to trust me. )" The man adjusted his glasses once more.
"Well then you must have keen intellect to keep up even with your quirks handicape yes?" Spoke the man.
"Yeah, despite my height and quirk, my brain is what's really going for me. ( Even scored 9th place in midterms. )" Minoru gloated interenally.
"It's always good to have brains more than just brawn. Would you call yourself cunning?" Asked the strange man.
"I can be when I put my mind to it, I mean I even duped the smartest student in my class before." Minoru smirked as he crossed his arms.
"Very interesting. ( Okay intelligent to boot. Hmm. Not 100% mentally sound, cunning, and rather crude. Yep. This boy and the symbiote would get along fairly well. Sigh...Not the most ideal but I'm just about out of time...and since he's in UA that means he lives on the campus and the symbiote would be safe with him there. Besides...if I wait any longer the symbiote will die and I sure as Hell can't be it's host and I'll be damned before I let THEM get their hands on it. )" The man monologue to himself while glancing at the steel briefcase he had. He looked over to Minoru and noticed he had a backpack on. Perfect he thought.
"I won't ask your name or anything but...do you want to be stronger?" The man asked.
Minoru raised an eyebrow. "Yeah that would rock, buuut easier said than done." Minoru sighed.
"I have something that can help you become stronger, if you'll accept it." The man spoke trying to sound as genuine as possible.
"Hmmm." Minoru then began to analyze the man. Being a great liar himself, he knew when someone was bullshitting. He spoke not a word but started deep into the man's eyes and read his facial features too. The man seemed calm as he did so, after a few seconds of silence Minoru came to the conclusion that the man was genuine and not trying to cause harm.
"Okay, you got my attention. Whatcha got in mind? I hope it ain't anything illegal." Minoru said.
"Wouldn't say illegal per say. Think of it as a gift. Listen boy. This case I have holds what I offer to you. However there are very bad people after me who want this...I can't allow that to happen. I have no allies to turn to and have no one I can trust with it. Not even pros or the law. So...can I trust you to keep it safe and use it in your journey to become a hero. I'm not saying you have to be pure of heart...but...please. Just do more good then bad with it please." The man pleaded.
Minoru could honestly feel the seriousness of the situation...the look of the man told him a lot of things but the most important thing he saw in his eyes, was a man with nothing left to lose.
"...Okay, okay. I'll try my best dude. Sooo...what is it?" Minoru asked curiously and seriously.
"I can't say aloud. Here. Place this in your backpack quickly." The man swiftly handed the boy the steel briefcase. Minoru didn't question him and quickly did as he was told, luckily his backpack was big enough to fit the case inside.
"Now then. Please. Let us exchange contact info. This is important. After this exchange, I need you to head straight back to UA. Once there I need you to contact me via text. Do not call me. You do live on campus right?" The man asked and Minoru only nodded in response.
"Very good. Now when you get to your room, close the door and lock it. Once that's done, you may then call me. From there I will give you step by step instructions on what to do. After it's all said and done and this gift becomes yours...wait for me to contact you again. if I do not contact you again within the next 3 days…." The man got very close to Minoru and took off his glasses to look the boy deep into his eyes.
"Wipe your phone clean and then destroy it...and then forget about me." The man spoke in a grim tone. This really put the nail in the coffin to really insteel the gravity of this situation into Minoru.
"Got it…" Without any delay the two of them quickly exchanged contact info.
"If I DO contact you again...then I'll be available for you to contact freely for help or advice." The man said.
"Now hurry off. Go. Head back to your school and don't stop for anything." The man ushered the boy to leave at once.
"Okay, okay but….can I at least get your name?" Minoru asked innocently.
The man looked at Minoru stoically in silence for a few moments. He heaved a sigh and responded. "Akira Kishi." Akira said, putting his glasses back on.
"Minoru Mineta." Minoru playfully punched the man's arm and got off the bench.
"Okay I'm off, don't die or anything dude." Minoru then runs off without another word.
The man watched Minoru fade into the distance until he was completely out of sight. The man heaved another great sigh and stood up from the bench.
"( Please, let me NOT regret this. )" Akira placed a hood over his head and walked off out of the park.
Minoru's POV:
I ran and ran as fast as my legs could take me. Normally I only ran really fast when I was scared to death but for some odd reason I really had adrenaline running through my veins. I'd say it was due to the excitement to see what was in the case Kishi gave me and also due to the looming fear that someone was possibly tailing me. The way Kishi spoke really gave off the impression...but whatever, I wasn't gonna stop until I got back to the dorm.
It took me about 20 minutes to make it back and I stopped at the steps of the dorm building panting like Hell. Now that I was here the fatigue set in as I calmed down. God I need to work out more, I cursed to myself as I hastily made my way inside.
Gotta get to my room right away and it really shouldn't be too hard, hardly anyone pays me much mind, so slipping past everyone without any of them trying to stop me should be easy peasy. As I entered the living room area, lucky me hardly anyone was in there. Denki, Momo, Mina, Iida and Midoriya were the only ones there and it seemed they were studying together. As I shut the door, this alerted them of my presence.
Midoriya smiled and waved to me. "Mineta, welcome back. Staying out of trouble I hope." Iida gave a faint smile.
"Hehehe, that would be the day!~" Mina jokes in response to Iida's comment.
"Wassup dude!" Denki called out to me. "Wanna come study with us man? Two cute girls here too.~" Denki wiggled his eyebrows, this caused Momo to sigh and roll her eyes.
"Sorry dude. Kinda busy. Maybe next time." I replied quickly and swiftly made my way to my room.
I noticed when I turned to leave, I could tell the lot had some surprised looks on their faces. But that's whatever right now. Got stuff to do and it can't wait. I made it to my room quickly and shut the door behind me and locked it.
"Siiiiigh...Okay finally here. Huff…" I sighed in relief and took off my backpack and took out the briefcase and set it on top of my bed. As I did so, I noticed there was a combination lock on it.
"Damn...okay time to call Kishi. PLEASE pick up." I prayed as I took out my phone and called up Kishi. I felt my heart race a bit as the line rang and rang, every bit of my being hoping he'd answer...and just in time I heard his voice.
"Mineta-san? Are you in your room? Did you make it safe?" Kishi's voice rang through my phone. My heart calmed down hearing his voice.
"Yeah, I'm all good. I'm here in my room and the door is locked. I'm ready." I said eager to get things started.
"Phew, okay very good. Now then...on the briefcase there should be a combination lock on it. Listen closely. The code is 49730." Kishi said.
"49730. Okay got it. One sec." I then use one hand to enter the combination code on the briefcase. I heard a click thus indicating the case was unlocked. "I'm in." I say popping open the case.
What I saw in the case was a big glass container with metal parts on the bottom and top of it and inside it was some...purple goo like stuff. "What the Hell is this stu-Ah!" I jump back a bit in surprise seeing the goo move around in the container as if it were alive.
"Calm down Mienta-san. It's fine." I hear Kishi say to me over the phone.
"Okaaaaay...Kishi-san, what is this?" I asked walking back to the case and examine the goo move about in the container.
"It's what I call a Symbiote. This creature was born from a quirk you see." Kishi explained to me.
"So it's alive?" I picked the container up out of the case.
"Yes it is but...it won't be for long if it goes hostless for much longer. I cannot allow it to die Mineta-san." Kishi's voice shook a bit.
"Hostless? Oh wait...symbiote...is it some kinda parasite?" I asked out of curiosity.
"In ways you could say that but the relationship is more symbiotic than parasitic. Just as it feeds from the host, the symbiote has many abilities that benefit it's host." Kishi explained.
"Huh, that right? And what are these abilities?" A smile crept on my face as I watched the symbiote press up against the glass of the container as if trying to get out to me.
"I'm sorry, but I don't have a lot of time to talk and even less to explain and I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain. So listen, I'm going to guide you through the bonding process and make sure it's successful. After that it's up to you. There are notes in the briefcase that explain in full what the symbiote can do, what it needs, how it works and acts and weaknesses to it as well. So look to those for reference." Kishi told me.
"Right, right. So how do I do this?" I asked ready to get this done. I also sat the container down on the bed and pressed the phone on the side of my face with my shoulder to hold it in place as I picked up the notes that laid inside the case. There were 6 pages in total, as I flipped through them I cut my finger on one of them. I silently cursed to myself as I set the papers down and licked my open cut.
"First off, you open the container, then the symbiote will emerge from it and attempt to bond with you. Don't worry it will not hurt. So do not panic or scream. Stay completely calm and accept it." Kishi informed me.
"Right, right. One sec again." I then placed Kishi on speaker phone and placed the phone on my bed and picked up the container. After a few seconds of messing around with the seal of the container I finally managed to open it.
As soon as it was open the purple ooze rose up out of the container and stretched out close to my hand that had the open cut on it. It stopped for a few seconds...but then latched onto the cut finger. I was surprised but kept my cool...but I felt a slight sting as I felt some of the ooze seep into my cut. The rest of the ooze started to run up and cover my hand, then my arm and before I knew it this stuff was covering my whole body…
It felt so weird but it wasn't really painful really, I felt it slowly seep into my body bit by bit. However as quickly as it happened, it was over. I let out a breath of relief.
"Okay Kishi-san. All said and done." I then looked at my cut finger and saw….it was healed. No scab or anything. Almost like it had never happened. "Whaaa?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Are you okay? Did the symbiote merge with you?" Kishi asked hastefully and on edge.
"Yeah it did. Nothing seems wrong soooo, I'd say it's cool. Also I think it healed a cut on me...I got a paper cut on my finger from the notes and the symbiote went into my cut as it was bonding with me." I explained to him uneasy about it.
"It went into a wound? Hmmm. Nevermind it. The symbiote will heal injuries made to its host. That's normal." Kishi reassured me.
"Seriously? Awesome.~" I chuckle.
"Before I hang up...listen. The symbiote can influence its host's personality in ways, but the host can also influence the symbiote as well. It's previous host was….rather deranged but it's not completely evil. I think your personality would work well with its current mindset. Even so it will be hard to control. It can amplify desires and other emotions inside you, so I would suggest practicing social distancing with your classmates until you can gain full control and come to a mutual understanding with it." Kishi warned me.
"That sounds like trouble but I'm sure I can do it. Also social distancing won't be so hard. My classmates tend to avoid me anyways, so that shouldn't be hard." I explained, it's sad but true. Except for Denki but he could easily keep him fooled.
"Ah, I'm sorry to hear that but that does help out." Kishi sounded sympathetic.
"Eh, I'm used to it." I shrugged. It bothered me slightly but I put it out of my head.
"Okay I need to go. Thank you for this and take care and remember what I said if I don't contact you again in 3 says. Also if you hear a voice in your head, don't worry. It's just the symbiote." Kishi said.
"Oh woah...okay then. Take care dude and I hope I hear from you again." I said.
"I do too. One last thing...I hope you can get your hands on chocolate easily. You'll need it. You see it feeds on a chemical known as phenethylamine to stay healthy and sane. It's found in processed chocolate and well...human brains." Kishi explained and I instantly put two and two together and shivered.
"Okay, okay. Noted. I get it." I nervously replied.
"Very good...now then. Farewell. Take care of yourself and it." With that..the line went dead.
I sighed and looked at my hand. "Well that's all said and done...God I'm already tired. Good thing we don't have classes today. Yaaawn, I think I'll take a nap." I placed the container back in the briefcase along with the notes and relocked it. I slid it under my bed and crashed on my bed.
"Yaaawn…" I laid on my back and looked up at the ceiling...and I looked at my hand again.
"...Hey you there?" I call out hoping maybe the symbiote thing would do something.
Just then...a red ooze seeps out my hand. A red ooze with purple bits of ooze around it. It formed into a face with sharp purple razor teeth with wide purple glowing eyes and the inside of its mouth was glowing too.
"Yes. We are." A low raspy and distorted voice came from it's mouth. To be honest...I was freaked out but it was actually pretty cool.
"Oh woah...hey there. Wassup um...you?" I tried to make conversation.
"We were looking through your memories….You are quite the disturbed one. We like it. A lot. We think we will like you a lot." The symbiote thing said to me.
"Happy you approve, cause we're gonna be the BEST of friends.~" I smirk and wink.
"Yes. We believe we will. Hehehe.~ Thank you Minoru, for being our 4th host." The symbiote spoke.
"4th? Ahhh…" I was kinda taken back at that.
"Yes 4th, we've gone through a few. But don't worry, we believe we will be together for quite some time." It replied.
"I hope so. Heh...what's your name?" I asked curiously, needed to know what to call it.
"We. Are Mania." It smiled at me.
"Niiiiiiiiiiice.~" I smirked.
"We are going to rest for now. We can see you are as well." Mania spoke.
"Yeah...tired from the mad dash here." I said leaning my head back.
"Three questions. Do you like to hurt people?" Mania asked me.
"When they deserve it." I shrugged.
"Do you like chaos?" He asked.
"Hmmm. Depends but I could enjoy it." I answer with a small smirk.
"Hmm...ehehe. Lastly. Do you enjoy guilty pleasures?~" Mania's tongue stretches out a bit.
"YES. Yes and yes.~" I smile ear to ear.
"...This partnership shall be beautiful.~ Hahahahahhaa!~" Mania laughed as he receded back into my hand.
"Hehehehe….beautiful is an understatment.~ Yaaawn...Zzzz…" I slowly drifted off into sleep.
This was gonna be one Hell of a ride.
