After the tour was done, Dante felt a bit fascinated about the whole area. The Sector Five Slums is a bit shabby for sure but it overall it seems like a fun place to hang around.
'For a slum, it ain't so bad.' Dante commented inside his head as he follows his only ally or possibly only friend right now, Aerith. She's now leading him where she had hidden his favorite and beloved guns; the dual pistols: Ebony and Ivory.
"Um, Dante. Something's been boggling me a bit lately. Something about what you claimed to be. You're not really a handyman, are you?" Aerith spoke up as she walks forward without looking back at him, "Handyman's don't exactly look like something like you and you don't even act like one. Most importantly, a Handyman doesn't carry special unique guns like you. So please be honest. What are you really?"
At this, Dante's walk became slow. He quickly looked down, pondering what to do. He knew that slightly lying was a long shot but he didn't expect her to be this observant. So with that, he comes up with a solution without fully revealing himself, "I guess you could say I'm a mercenary. But kind of a special one that is."
Ominously, Aerith didn't reply to his words or even looked back at him but Dante could tell that she was satisfied with his answer as he catched a small smile on her lips.
'Phew! Really dodged a bullet on that one.' Dante wiped a small sweat on his forehead as he felt a bit of relief from suspicions.
After almost an hour of walking and jumping across numerous rooftops, the duo finally reached their destination and Dante left a whistle at the sight before him. It seems like a huge garden with lots of yellow flowers around. He then smiled as he began admiring the area.
"Nice place." Dante casually commented, crossing his arms.
"You think so?" Aerith widened her eyes in surprise, looking back at him.
"Yeah. I gotta be honest." Dante admitted with a shrug.
"Well, honestly, you look like the type of person who wouldn't appreciate a place like this."
"Ouch." Dante feigned a dramatic injury in the chest, "That hurts. You wound me with your words, Aerith."
"Oh, you big baby. Stop it. Save that to a theater." Aerith retorted.
"Okay, lady." Dante replied with a dry chuckle.
"Don't call me that. I have a name, you know." Aerith pouted with a glare.
"Yeah, yeah. Sure thing, princess." Dante shrugged.
Aerith grumbled at this but finally sighed in resign. Guess that's just what he is. So with that, she finally moved on to get Dante's guns.
Dante could only stare at Aerith as she calmly rummages through all the yellow flowers in a kneeling position.
After staring at her for almost a minute, she finally stood up and both of her hands are now carrying his signature dual pistols.
'Ebony and Ivory. Missed you fellas.' Dante thought as he smiled upon seeing them.
"Here it is." Aerith declarared with a smile before moving onto Dante. She hands his beloved guns back to him with sweet tenderness.
Dante could only grin like an idiot as he finally got back his favorite pistols Ebony and Ivory into his hands once more.
"Thanks, Aerith. I really couldn't thank you more." Dante said warmly before stylishly twirling his pistols with grace and ease. He then puts them back in his holsters.
"You seem to really like them." Aerith pointed out.
"Well, they're my beloved pals, what can I say? Ebony and Ivory are special to me. They're like my treasures." Dante admitted while reminiscing in his mind on how he got them. Oh, how he kinda missed Nell, "Anyway, they're pretty useful when it comes to complicated situations"
"And what could those complicated situations might be? Do you kill people with it?" Aerith questioned as she eyes his hands then his face.
Dante awkwardly smiles at this and chuckled nervously, rubbing his head, "You could probably say that. But only bad people. I never killed someone who never deserved it. I'm an odd mercenary."
Aerith gives him a confident smirk and a playful glare, implying that she got him all figured out, "Oh, well. That's enough for today. We better now focus getting these flowers and deliver them to my customers, don't you think? Dante, you'll be carrying all of them while I will lead the way."
"Eh, that doesn't seem so hard." Dante commented nonchalantly, shrugging, 'Kinda boring though.'
Aerith smiles mischievously and points at Dante's left. He sees a bunch of large empty baskets nearby. In fact they were so many that Dante begins to wonder how he's gonna carry all of it. The problem is not his strength. No. In fact, Dante is quite sure he could easily lift a building. Actually, the problem is that there were too many large baskets that he couldn't fit them all in his hands, "Okay, let's begin, shall we?"
With that, Dante and Aerith begin gathering the flowers and putting them in baskets with the Son of Sparda doing most of the entire work. Once it was enough, Aerith leads Dante to a bunch of her customers, most of them located in each different areas of the slum. How he carried all of them is bit of a surprise for Aerith. Since he couldn't possibly fit all the baskets in his hands, Dante used his literal head and mouth. He succeeded doing this without any signs trouble and fatigue although she could see Dante's annoyed expression as they wander around the slums to find every customers.
After two long hours and a half of delivering flowers, Dante finally felt hope as he and Aerith deliver the final basket. Upon seeing the last costumer, Dante was quick to toss the basket of flower in the air for the customer to catch. To Aerith's relief, the customer catched it fairly easily.
Aerith glared at Dante's reckless action and reprimanded him with a long lecture. Dante ignores this of course and just pretends not hearing her. He begins to ponder of his current situation.
'From fighting demons and demon gods to delivering flowers for some pretty girl. How low have I fallen? I wonder what's up with Vergil. I know he could take care of himself but I'm worried about anyone messing with him. He might leave another trail of blood and chaos. I really hope he won't do that.'
Vergil sneezed and quickly rub his nose. His cold ruthless blue eyes focus on the camp fire he had made for the night. He comfortably leans against the tree, sitting lazily.
"It seems I really picked up some bad habits from you, Dante." Vergil admitted as he bites an apple on his hand. He then gobbles it all up as he continues staring at the fire.
Still not satisfied and full, Vergil punches the tree behind his back, causing four apples to fall from the branches. Using his quick reaction and focus, Vergil easily catches all four apples once they got in range.
"I hope you are doing well at your end, little brother." Vergil said as he looked up at the night sky while he places the apples on his lap.
Then suddenly, to Vergil's mild surprise, an arrow suddenly flies towards him out of nowhere, heading straight for his shoulder. Moving fast, he easily catches it with his hand before it could finally reach him although Vergil wasn't pleased. He knew he should have taken out the one who've been quietly stalking him for half a minute now.
"That's not very polite of you." Vergil dryly stated as he quickly glares at the one who fired. He throws the arrow back at the shooter but it narrowly misses, grazing only the cheek, "Come out now. If I really wanted to kill you, I would have thrown the arrow more accurately earlier."
Obeying his words, the shooter slowly comes out of its hiding place in the bushes and revealed itself. It was a young woman with a bow and a quiver on her back. She's carrying a gun, a revolver to be exact, and she's pointing it onto Vergil with fear and hate in her green eyes. The color reminding Vergil of his demonic eyes when he's in his pure demon form.
"Why so hostile? Have I done you wrong?" Vergil questioned, unfazed by the gun pointing at him, "You should refrain yourself from doing that again. It's rude."
"Get the fuck up! Don't you touch that sword or I will fucking shoot you!" The young woman threatened, however Vergil only sighed in irritation and instead grabbed an apple on his lap to take a bite.
At this, the young woman pulled the trigger and the gun fired. Although she deliberately misses the shot, hitting only the tree on Vergil's back.
"That's it. That's enough." Vergil stated before instantly moving very fast to subdue the young woman. He moved so fast that she didn't even knew what happened until it was too late. He had flicked the gun away from her and quickly pushed her down with a single palm strike in the chest, knocking her out in the process, "You should carefully choose your actions next time."
The day is over for the Legendary Demon Hunter. He and Aerith are done for today. Right now, he's just walking Aerith back to her house while admiring the sunset in the sky.
"Well, that was uneventful." Dante commented with a sigh as they continuously walk to their destination.
"Not to me though. You're indeed quite the mercenary, Dante." Aerith admitted with a hum, "Are you sure you won't stay? As I already said, it's quite alright to stay. It'll be fine."
"No, thanks. You've done too much for me already. I wouldn't want to take advantage of you and your mother's hospitality and kindness. It's not my style. And besides, it's just kinda embarrassing and wrong for me to do that." Dante explained. To be honest, he really wanted to stay but he owes them too much already. He didn't want to be the guest that is just overstaying his welcome, "Don't worry. I'll be around, kiddo."
"Do I always have to remind you to call me, Aerith?" Aerith pouted, rolling her green eyes at the white haired man, "Geez, Dante, just call me Aerith. I don't want kid, kiddo, or princess or anything. Okay? Just Aerith."
Dante could only sigh at her irritation and rubbed his head, "Alright then. I'll really try to remember that next time. I promise."
Aerith narrowed her eyes in suspicion at this, finding his words almost unbelievable, "You better."
Upon finally reaching Aerith's home, Dante quickly bids farewell to the youth and proceeded to leave the area.
From there on, Dante finally went out on his way and began wandering aimlessly in the whole sector. He did this without rest and sleep of course as he had nothing to do anyway.
But during this little activity of his, Dante began hearing rumors about some terrorists in the Sector Seven Slums, what really caught his attention though is that there's a huge bounty for these terrorists. He heard this from some men in strange uniforms with a sci-fi movie aesthetic wandering around most of the entire area.
'If I could get that bounty, I could probably pay up Aerith and her mom easily. I wouldn't be working for them anymore. This would be the easy way out for me.' Dante pondered, rubbing his now clean shaven chin, 'It'll be an easy job for me. Sector 7 here we go.'
"No doubt, this is gonna be fun." Dante smiled confidently, "Let's get this party started."
Unfortunately for Dante, he couldn't easily straight up get his party started as he had to ask for numerous residents and strangers nearby to point him to the right direction and it took Dante almost three hours of his life to get to Sector Seven. He had to board a train without pay and had to hide from security.
Upon finally taking the first step on Sector Seven, Dante let out a very long sigh, relieved he had finally got into the place.
He began familiarizing the whole Sector, mentally taking note of multiple buildings, areas, and small establishments.
Out of all of them, one particular establishment caught his eyes and attention. A bar known as Seventh Heaven. He wasn't sure why but he got a hunch that he should probably check it out. Going by experience, bars always have something in them whether it be good or bad.
Without question, Dante enters the bar with stride and confidence, pushing the entrance door open without a care in the world. The first sight he saw was a welcome one for him and it took the appearance of a beautiful young woman with long jet-black hair and alluring red eyes along with a pretty big rack. She wore a white tank top that exposes her midriff along with a black sports bra underneath, a black mini skirt with pleated segments, black leather gloves with metal plates on the back and knuckles along with an elbow pad on her left arm which is supplemented by a red and black leather vambrace with strange runes in them, and lastly, a pair of red boots with black stockings.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Dante spoke out with an arrogant smile as he nonchalantly approaches the young woman, "A beautiful chick as a bartender? Sounds like I just hit the jackpot this time."
The Son of Sparda letting out a wolf whistle as he smoothly sizes her up and down with a shit eating grin, "What's your name?"
"Tifa. I'm Tifa. It's nice to meet you, sir." The young woman answered politely, carefully watching Dante as he takes a seat on the bench.
"That's a cute name." Dante complemented before looking around the whole place, admiring the Texan-style aesthetics of the bar's interior, "Anyway, nice place you got here. I'm Dante."
"May I ask what do you want, mister Dante?" Tifa questioned.
"Oh, to be honest, I would definitely want a drink right now actually. But quite frankly, I'm broke as hell. No money in my pockets." Dante answered, "So I'm here looking for terrorists. I've heard rumors, you see. And going by experience, bars tend to be a place with something secretly going on, just like this one. So, you've ever seen or heard something? Just some bits and pieces."
"Nothing really. There's nothing. You shouldn't hastily believe in such rumors, mister Dante." Tifa quickly answered.
"I had a feeling you'd say that." Dante admitted. He then instantly pulled out a gun and quickly pointed it on Tifa before she could even blink, "Seems you're not a very good liar, Tifa. I could easily see the bullshit in your words just now. So, how about this? You answer me truthfully or I could put a hole in your head and take a look at it."
Tifa frowned at this and she trembled at the unnaturally large barrel between her eyes. She could see Dante giving her a sadistic smile and cold eyes that clearly tell he's not playing.
To add things worse, of all the time and places, her two friends suddenly entered the scene, unexpectedly arriving at the entrance door.
"Hey! What the hell you think you're doing to Tifa?!" A large and tall muscular dark-skinned man in a dirty brown vest shouted angrily. His right arm is some sort of a mini gun and he is pointing it onto Dante. The large black man's companion with him is a young man with a spiky blonde hair along with a lean and toned build. The spiky blonde haired man is agitated and have pulled out an enormous thick broadsword with a single edged blade from his back.
"Do you really think it's a good idea to attack right now? You do know your friend's life here could end forever and have her brains splattered in an instant?" Dante explained the situation for them which slightly calmed them down.
"What the hell do you want?!" The large man questioned with unease.
"What I want? Well, I want my bounty. You see, there's a huge reward for capturing terrorists and it looks like I've just hit the jackpot. Your friend here covered for you, you know. She instantly lied through her teeth when I asked questions regarding terrorists being here." Dante answered before glancing at Tifa's friends with the same sadistic grin, "You do know, terrorism is a huge crime, right? Worthy of a death sentence. Anyway, it's not right for me to judge but still, you've committed a crime which makes you scums. And scums deserve to be in jail."
"Great. Another bounty hunter." The spiky blonde haired man complained as he held his sword tight and firm.
"Shinra must be really this pissed and desperate for them to quickly put out a large bounty on us." The large man added.
'Damn I played these fellas like a fiddle. They didn't even try to deny it. I was actually unsure at first but it seems my hunch paid me well.' Dante thought, finally sure of the fact that all of them are terrorists.
Since he finally now had confirmation, Dante began to wonder on how to proceed. He's pretty sure he could take all of them out very quickly, it's just that Dante is so used to fighting powerful demons that he had forgotten how to fight humans without accidentally killing them.
'What should I do? Desicions, desicions, desicions.' As Dante continued wondering on how to proceed, things quickly took a drastic turn for the Legendary Devil Hunter as he suddenly began noticing a swarm of flying dark gray cloaks appearing all over the place. What really caught him surprised though is that these creatures seem intangible, phasing through numerous walls and objects, not to mention, they are also invisible as the three terrorists doesn't seem to see them, 'Just my luck. Some spooky looking rag begin appearing throughout the place and start watching me work. These creatures don't seem demonic in nature though. I don't sense any demonic energy in them. They're something else. Well, whatever. They aren't doing anything yet. I might as well ignore them for now.'
However, unbeknownst to the Legendary Devil Hunter, he had been unwisely letting his guard down due to his focus on the invisible creatures floating around the area.
Seeing the opportunity in her eyes, Tifa quickly swats the gun away from his hands and then delivered a nasty strong uppercut to his chin, seemingly knocking out the red-coated man.
"Now, that's what I'm talking about, Tifa! I never doubted! That should give that damn fool a lesson!" The large friend of Tifa commented ecstatically.
"Who was he? Do you know him? Did he tell you anything?" The spiky blonde haired man asked curiously as he watches the red-coated man continued lying on the floor, seemingly unconscious.
"He told me his name was Dante and judging by his looks and personality, he really seems to be a bounty hunter or better yet, a mercenary. Just like you, Cloud." Tifa answered, staring at her spiky blonde haired friend, calling him by his name; Cloud.
"Well, whoever he is, he doesn't seem to be that good. Lucky for us. He just easily got his ass kicked by you Tifa." The large man added.
"What do you think we should do with him, Barret?" Tifa questioned as she faces her large friend named Barret.
"What do you think, Tifa? It's easy. We bag him and leave him out in the dumps. That way, no one will ever know." Barret replied pragmatically.
"I have a better idea. How about you all come with me so I could get my bounty?" The red-coated man suddenly spoke up, now awake, which quickly surprised Tifa, Cloud, and Barret. He quickly gets up and instantly pulled out his other gun Ivory, pointing it onto Barret.
Before Barret could even fire his arm-gun, Dante quickly pulls the trigger and expertly shot all the holes of Barret's gun, rendering it useless and broke.
Meanwhile, Cloud charges forward onto Dante and brings down his humongous sword to the red-coated man.
To his surprise however, Dante had used his gun Ivory to easily block his attack and Cloud quickly realized Dante had intentionally positioned his gun onto his sword. The barrel was actually pointing at Cloud's face since he had brought down his sword.
Dante smirked at his trick and quickly pulled the trigger, however Cloud narrowly dodges the bullet at the last second by simply tilting his head.
'He's good. Guess he's not just a pretty face then.' Dante concluded before rolling onto the side to get some distance. He quickly runs towards where Ebony fell while firing fast at Cloud, whom uses his sword's thickness and wideness as a shield, 'That should slow him down for now.'
Upon reaching Ebony's location, Dante wasted no time in grabbing it. He quickly made use of Ebony by firing it heavily at Tifa whom quickly rolls out of the way.
'That should make her think twice before charging forward at me.' Dante thought before focusing Ebony onto Barret. He quickly fires a barrage of bullets to the large man, all of which Barret luckily dodges as he runs out of the way, 'Now onto the real deal.'
He then finally points both guns onto Cloud and fired rapidly like a gattling gun whereas Cloud himself made sure to keep his sword up to avoid turning into Swiss Cheese from Dante's heavy barrage of bullets.
Having enough of Dante's attacks, Cloud began using all his might and strength. He relentlessly changes forward onto the white haired man while still raising his sword, continuously using it as a shield. Bullets continuously fly off as they bounce from Cloud's advancing sword.
Seeing Cloud's advance getting nearer and nearer, Dante quickly begins putting more and more demonic energy into his beloved guns which staggered the spiky blonde haired teen and quickly put a stop to his advance.
Quickly taking the advantage, Dante charges forward onto Cloud as he continued firing. Upon within in close range, Dante quickly delivers a drop kick onto Cloud's sword, the force launching Cloud onto the wall.
Cloud yelps in pain as his back hits the solid concrete with great force and impact. He swore he almost felt his bones break.
Finally having time for the other two, Dante quickly points Ebony at Barret and Ivory at Tifa before Cloud could do anything, "Tell me, Cloud. Which do you want to see die first? The beautiful chick? Or the giant gorilla? Your choice."
Seeing his current situation, Cloud gritted his teeth in anger and frustration, gripping his large sword harder than before. He just can't choose here. But he knew he had to answer and he'd choose...
"Too slow."
*Bang!*
