I made this to curb my quarantine boredom. I may or may not choose to continue it. Hope you enjoy regardless :)

Jaune Arc. short, sweet, rolls off the tongue, ladies love it.

Though no matter how much he hoped or dreamed, he was seriously starting to doubt that last bit. Jaune was never much of a ladies man. It just wasn't in his nature. Any and all attempts to court anyone within Beacon's sea of gorgeous gals have all but ended in failure .The ladies seem to prefer laughing at him over loving him, and for crying out loud, the nickname "Vomit Boy" didn't exactly roll off the tongue. With him, it was just one embarrassment, one screw up after another. He was the pinnacle of undesirableness when it comes to a romantic relationship.

So why is it that Weiss Schnee of all people stood before him, trapping him against the wall, flushing red, and staring him down the eyes. Blowing hot breath that he felt tingling against his neck. It was nigh impossible to tell if she was angry or flustered.

"I-I said!... Would you possibly maybe want to go to the dance with me…?"

The snow white girl clenched her fists and teeth as if in disbelief over her own actions.

Jaune stood expressionless for a good few moments before the reality of the situation kicked in.

"Wait... What!?"

Let's run this back a bit.

"JAUNE! WAKEY WAKEY!"

"GAAAHHH!"

Nora Valkyrie wasn't your ideal alarm clock. In fact, she was probably more likely to cause a heart attack effectively negating one's ability to ever wake up again.

"Nora! How many times do I have to tell you, Gently!"

"What was that Jauney? I can't hear you over the sound of flippin pancakes!"

And with that the bombastic bomber zipped out of the dorm with a boundless energy that could put a 10 year old on a sugar rush to shame.

Another voice followed from the corner of the room.

"Sigh.. Sorry Jaune, they're serving pancakes today."

Lie Ren, the other male member of team JNPR, headed over to the door. Apparently Jaune seemed to have overslept as most of his team were already dressed for the day. Not that it mattered. It was a day off after all. Pyrrha, the red headed warrior and final member of his team followed right behind Ren, flashing Jaune a sweet smile before calling out from the doorstep,

"See you there Jaune."

As the door closed and the blonde boy was left to his own devices, he let out a long sigh before falling back into the embrace of his mattress dressed in his signature onesie pajamas.

"Honestly… What kind of team leader sleeps in this late..? Never was much of a role model I guess."

As a defense against his fickle self esteem, he developed a habit of talking to himself when he was alone.

Staring into the ceiling above, thoughts of the past months in Beacon came and went. Fake transcripts, vomit boy, all the times he got his butt kicked in combat practice, Cardin… It was far from the chivalric life of a hunter that he imagined. Of course he knew well that compared to the other students, he would be facing a severe lack of ability. His skills and physical prowess left much to be desired, but somehow, he pictured his rise from being an absolute zero to have been much smoother than it was. Even now, midway through the school year, what has he got to show for all the time he's spent in the top hunter's academy in Remnant? Mediocre combat abilities, and a yet to be discovered semblance. What a joke.

"Huuuuuggggghhh!"

Letting out a huff of frustration, Jaune lay there on his back eyes closed in an attempt to curb his flaring emotions.

"These things take time… Remember what mom said… Always-"

Before he could finish his self supporting monologue however, something caught his eyes' attention as he slowly opened them. Instead of an empty ceiling, there seemingly floating right before his eyes, letters encased in a shade of red.

[Start]

The boy stared intently at the anomaly in his team's room. A dream perhaps? A trick of the eye? For whatever reason there was a big floating start sign before him.

In all fairness, he had no idea what he was getting into, it was merely an impulse of curiosity that urged him to reach out towards the unknown.

As soon as his hand made contact however, there was no going back and the game had begun. A bright jingle sounded off, eliciting the blonde to jerk in surprise as he lay on his back and the start sign had disappeared in a flash of starry particles.

"What just happened..?"

He couldn't even process that thought for in the very next moment, strange icons began popping right out in his field of vision.

Various floating entities displaying the current time, date, and even the weather conditions. A number of icons displaying the words Stats? Student index? History?

It was a strange phenomenon to say the least and the average person would have been rendered speechless or awestruck. But this is Jaune Arc we're talking about and he definitely isn't what one would call an average person.

"What the!? Wh-wha what are these things!?"

He tried with no success to swat away the entities that were invading his vision, erratically waving his arms across his face. Quickly getting up from his bed and dashing towards his wardrobe, he pulls out his standard Beacon Academy uniform and attempts to put it on in place of his onesie, tripping over himself a couple of times in his panic. If he couldn't swat them away then the next best option would be to run and get some help.

"Guys! Are you seeing this!?"

Jaune rushed towards the dorm's exit and flung the door open with a wild energy, but before he could even begin his mad sprint towards the cafeteria, he ran into something that sent him crashing into the ground.

"OW! Watch where you're going!"

A voice called out to him and he regained his senses after the fall, of all the people he could run into in this situation.. It had to be Weiss.

"Oh-uh Weiss! How lovely it is to see you this morning! Hehe.."

"You! I should have known that only a klutz like you would waltz right into someone this early in the morning! I swear, you're just like Ruby! Unbelievable! And to think that you're both team leaders too! You need to start-"

It was difficult for the boy to concentrate on her when a strange interface was building itself before his very eyes. Just a tad bit below Weiss' chest a grey shaded transparent box appeared as soon as she started speaking. On the top left corner of the box was her full name and below that Weiss' words directed towards him seemed to appear out of thin air in textual form.

"Hey! Are you even listening to me!? My eyes are up here!"

The icy girl snapped at him after seeing him stare into a seemingly empty space.

"Y-Yes Weiss!"

"...As I was saying… You really need to-"

At that moment a large message appeared before him, blocking almost the entirety of his vision.

[Route Unlocked: Thaw the Ice Queen's Frozen Heart]

[Difficulty: Easy]

[Accept? : Yes | No]

Jaune's mind had trouble processing the info presented to him. Thaw her heart? What in the world was that supposed to mean? Meanwhile Weiss kept on chattering away as if he could still comprehend or even see her right now.

Instinctively, his hand began to reach out towards the message. Thaw the ice queen's heart.. He really didn't get it, dense as he was, but in his mind it sounded oddly poetic enough to be desirable. It made sense to thaw a frozen heart rather than leave it cold forever. Slowly he reached out towards the "Yes" icon, ignoring the constant nagging from said ice queen. With a gentle finesse that was unlike him, Jaune with a delicate curiosity brushed his fingers against the floating icon. As soon as his hand made contact, a familiar jingle was heard and the entire message disappeared in a flash of twinkling stars.

Witnessing such a visual spectacle would have distracted anyone, but in Jaune's case he was unable to notice the uncanny silence that only moments ago took the place of Weiss' stinging voice. Unable to notice that the strange sensation he felt on his fingertips wasn't the feeling of pressing a illusory yes button.

In a brief moment, the message blocking his view was gone and in its place was a Snow Queen, beet red and quivering under his gaze.

At first Jaune looked towards her in mild confusion though it didn't take long for him to realize what was off with the situation.

Right there, where the Yes icon used to be was Weiss' cheek and though unintentional, it appeared as if he was caressing it with his hand.

"J-Jaune! What do you think you're doing?!"

Fear gripped the poor boy as his muscles began to tense up. Major brain functions were beginning to short out and for one reason or another, he could not find the strength to pull his hand away.

"I-I'm sorry! I-"

Before he could put out an apology, something else caught his attention. Once again Sentences began appearing out of thin air, but there was something different about them. This time they weren't Weiss' words. They weren't anyone's.

[1. You have such nice soft cheeks Weiss, can I play with them more?] [Guts req. 2]

[2. I'm just trying to get a better view of that gorgeous face of yours princess.] [Charm req. 3]

[3. Sorry… I don't know what came over me..]

Were these supposed to be.. His words? They did seem like possible responses.. But was he really supposed to say any of these? The first one was just gross and he doubted whether he could pull off a stunt like the second. The third however was more his speed. Whatever was happening to him wasn't normal and he definitely wasn't sure about the whole situation, but if past experiences with Weiss were to be taken into account, this definitely wouldn't end well if he tried to handle this "His" way. It was high time for a change, and it wasn't like he could mess this up any worse than he already has in the past so in a stunning display of courage and drive to change the cycle of screw ups and failures, Jaune Arc decided to place his trust in these supernatural visions and go for broke.

"I-I'm just t-trying to get a better view of that g-gorgeous face of youuurs.. Princess?"

Silence. The dead stare of the Ice Queen pierced his soul. His hand still being on her cheek made it so much worse. Was it anger? Resentment? Pity? Whatever it was the result was a quick smack to the head.

"OW!"

Despite her actions, Weiss' face remained flushed red as she marched away towards the cafeteria with as much grace as she could muster mumbling to herself.

"Lecherous fiend! Who does that buffoon think he is?! Why I ought to-"

Jaune rubbed his now sore temple. That did not go as well as he had hoped… Though honestly he should have seen it coming saying something like that. Though that hit on the head did effectively calm him down enough for him to take a better look at whatever was floating in his face. Aside from the date, time, and weather, there also appeared to be a little map on the other corner of his vision. Somehow it displayed with perfect accuracy his location and surroundings. While his location was marked with an arrow, he could also see a cutout of Weiss' face moving in the opposite direction towards the mess hall. If that was meant to display her exact whereabouts then this map would be pretty useful… or creepy depending on the context.

Jaune decided that it would be wise to learn as much as he could about this strange phenomena so he started doing what any gamer would do when there isn't a tutorial. Press random buttons.

After almost an hour of tinkering with the interface that apparently only he could see, Jaune was able to discern a couple of things, firstly that whatever was happening to him was akin to some of the games he Ruby played on their scrolls. Honestly he would have noticed earlier if he hadn't been freaking out about it. On the lower portion of his vision there were tabs that he could open up with a touch of the hand. The first of which was a status tab. He had stats similar to an RPG game but at the same time they weren't exactly your typical stats.

[Jaune Arc]

[Knowledge: 1/5]

[Charm 1/5]

[Kindness 4/5]

[Skill 1/5]

[Guts 1/5]

Jaune felt his eye twitch upon seeing his abysmally low stats. His mom always told him to be kind to others but to think that it was one of his only good points. This game was doing him dirty. Perhaps the reason Weiss had such a negative reaction to his response had something to do with that Charm req he saw at the end. He'd have to return to that thought later. What kind of game even had a kindness stat?

Aside from stats however, there was also a student index tab and things would only get stranger from here. Listed in alphabetical order were the names and pictures of every female student in Beacon along with measurements, background history, likes, dislikes, and other random tidbits about them. It almost felt shameful to peer into all this personal information. The first name that he recognised almost immediately, "Blake Belladonna" probably because of how close to the beginning page the letter B was. He began muttering to himself.

"Hmm… Spent most of her early years with the White Fang, Had a secret admiration for Adam Taurus, Likes it when you pet her ears…? Has secret fantasies involving ninjas that- yeah no we're not going there... "

Along with their personal info, there was also a row of five hearts aptly labeled as a heart meter. For most people he didn't recognize, the hearts were all greyed out but for his friends at least one out of the five were colored red with the exception of Weiss which was only half colored. Perhaps that had something to do with the incident a while ago.. It didn't take an expert to figure out that this was probably their total affinity towards Jaune displayed in a very physical and easy to understand way.

Finally there was a history tab which appears to take a textual record of the conversations he has with other people. The entire conversation between him and Weiss as well as his own monologues were taken down, ever since he pressed that Start button earlier this morning. Yeah.. no thanks, he'd rather not relive shameful memories if he didn't have to.

He wasn't sure what was happening or why but maybe it was better to keep this to himself for now. He didn't need another reason for people to make fun of him or think that he was delusional. For now… the plan was to act natural. As natural as he could be anyway.

The rich combination of pancakes and bacon was just what the blonde boy needed right now. A tasty treat to keep his mind off this supernatural phenomenon. As per usual Team JNPR sat face to face with team RWBY. As awkward as it might have been for him and the Ice Queen, to her credit, Weiss did a good job of avoiding eye contact whilst puffing her cheeks. As members of the two teams conversed amongst one another Jaune suddenly found a hand being waved in his face.

"Hello! Earth to Jaune? Are you even listening?"

Fellow team leader and dutchess of dorks Ruby Rose sat across from him trying to get his attention. As if being woken from a dream, Jaune jerked upwards after the shock of being aroused from his thoughts.

"Huh?! Oh yeah! Of course!"

"Hmm.. uh huh, then would you mind telling me what my favorite type of dust crystal is?"

"Pshh well that must obviously be… Red crystals?"

Eyes going wide and clasping her hands together, the childish girl responded,

"Aw so you were paying attention!"

Beside the red reaper sat her teammate and sister Yang who then proceeded to rub her brows.

"Oh Ruby... "

[Charm has slightly increased]

Jaune stared at the message that had popped out from the corner of his eye. It was that easy? If he just kept talking to people, his Charm stat should increase in no time at all. Of course he had no idea what came with high stats, but it had to be good right? Whatever was causing this to happen to him, it seemed to be geared towards improving his social life.. With women specifically.

Jaune was a good natured person at heart, and he would never try to take advantage of anyone purposely, but good natured or not, he was still a young man who had never had any real success when it came to romance. A simple glance at the beautiful members team RWBY before him, cleared his mind of all doubt.

He'd be a fool not to exploit this system..

"So Jaune, have any plans for tomorrow?" came Ruby's sweet voice.

Quite a fool indeed.
