Feeling the Love Tonight

So This is Love

Summary: Basically, my own take on what might have happened after the events of "Hair Ball" in "Trolls: The Beat Goes On." Get ready for some Broppy cuteness and another "almost" moment.

Post-TTBGO.

Poppy was looking around all the party decorations to make sure that they were good enough so that everyone would have a great time during this year's Hair Ball. So far, everything was looking pretty great. There were enough lanterns hanging from the trees, there was enough refreshments on the buffet tables, and the other decorations seemed to be in perfect order.

"All righty, what's next?" She cheerfully asked herself. But right as she turned around, she saw Branch standing there, still not having moved from his spot, leaning against the tree, glancing over at the party that was stationed a few yards away from them. Her frustration once again started to build up.

He had been getting on her nerves all night because he wasn't dancing with everyone else, and she had thought that maybe he would've enjoyed the Hair Ball compared to some other parties, because it seemed more like his style. No loud music, no crazy dancing; it was classy and much more formal, which could fit him perfectly.

But apparently, she thought wrong, since he had made no move to join in with the others all night. She had said earlier that she would drag him out onto the dance floor herself, but she kept getting occupied with other things, making sure that everything was looking in tip-top shape. But right now, she could care less because she had made herself a promise that she was going to get her best friend out on the floor, no matter what. And as usual, it seemed that she had to take matters into her own hands.

"Branch! That's it!" Poppy exclaimed, throwing her decoration bags on the ground and getting the teal Troll to look at her. "I'm taking you out on that dance floor right now!"

Branch just sighed, sounding annoyed. "Fine." He said.

To Poppy's surprise, he quickly zipped behind the tree, and then came out a few seconds later dressed in a nice dark blue tuxedo with a little black bowtie, his cobalt hair brushed and slightly gelled back. But what surprised her most was that confident smirk on his face, a brow twitched up mischievously. The pink Troll queen would've blushed at the sight of her friend, big emphasis on the word "friend", looking so dashing if it wasn't for the fact that he seemed to have had planned this all along, judging from that smug, victorious smile on his face.

"What?!" She exclaimed, her mouth slightly dropped. Then, Branch took her hand and quickly spun her around a few times before he had her on the other side of him, the smile not wavering. "Branch! I thought you hated fancy dancing." Poppy said to him.

The smirk on his face only grew slightly wider, his eyes glinting mischievously. "Nope. Fancy dancing is the best." He replied, letting go of her hand. "But you're always worrying about everyone else so much, I knew the only way to get you out on the floor was to make you make me dance with you."

Poppy thought about that for a few seconds. When he said it like that, it all made sense. The rest of their friends had pointed out earlier in the evening that she does get so caught up with making sure that everyone else attending would have a good time that she forgets to have fun herself. So when Branch had refused to dance, she said that she would eventually get him to join the party. And even though she did get distracted with other things, the more that she saw him wallflowering, the more determined she became, until she had enough and took matters into her own hands, playing right into his.

"Yep, checks out." She said, a coy smile appearing on her face. "Good plan, Branch." She then took his hand, his smile turning from cocky to acting like she was dragging him over against his will and he didn't mind, as they both hurried over to join the party before it ended for the night.

However, when DJ Suki saw them coming over, a knowing smile came on her face and she whistled sharply to the dancing Trolls, making them stop. Guy Diamond even jumped down from where he was hanging from the ceiling as a disco ball, wondering why the red Troll stopped the music.

Suki then spoke into the microphone, just as Branch and Poppy came onto the dance floor. "Alright now, everyone." She said. "Let's have one more slow song before we finish the party off with a bang."

She grabbed a particular record and placed it on her turntables. Gentle and peaceful music began to play as Trolls quickly began picking out their partners.

Both Branch and Poppy were a little confused at the timing of it, but shrugged it off. Branch turned to the pink Troll next to him and bowed to her with a smile.

"May I?" He asked, a playful smirk on his face, holding his hand out to her.

Poppy just smiled at him with a playful roll of her eyes. "Like you have to ask." She said, placing her hand in his.

The two of them started to waltz on the floor. Poppy had to admit, she was impressed that Branch knew how to dance like this, considering his history. "When did you learn how to dance?" She asked with a little chuckle.

Branch just rolled his eyes with a smile. "I learned a little bit from my grandma at first when I was little, and then over the years, I kind of taught myself how to." He explained.

But then, Poppy saw a little glimmer of sadness in his sky blue eyes. She could tell that he still misses his grandmother, even if he had regained his colors. She slowly leaned into him, giving him a bit of an embrace. Branch slightly stiffened at her proximity, but then he settled his head into the crook of her neck, holding her closer to him.

"I know that if she were here, she'd be so proud of you." She whispered.

Branch lightly squeezed her fingers. "Really?" He asked tentatively.

Poppy nodded her head. "Yeah." She answered quietly. "You've come so far from where you used to be. And I'm happy to have you in my life. And I know that the rest of the village is really happy that you're back with us."

Branch softly smiled at her. "Thanks." He whispered.

Poppy smiled back at him as pink eyes became lost in blue, and vice versa as they continued to slowly dance together in a bit more intimate embrace. Soon, to them, it was like the rest of the party had faded away and that the gentle music was the only thing that they could hear, other than the steadily increasing rate of their heartbeats in tandem.

Around them, the other Trolls could see that those two Trolls were in their own world, so they slowly began to form a large circle around them, as to not disrupt the spell that they were under. They smiled at the sight of them. One of the things that Trolls loved to see was the sight of a special pair falling in love right before their eyes. It was something to celebrate, but not in the usual way. It was more like they would watch and see who would make the first move, and then afterwards, they would go nuts. But right now, they'll wait and see what happens.

The Snack Pack, along with Smidge's date Milton, all watched them with glowing and knowing eyes. It was obvious that their friends do belong together. Branch does seem to have strong romantic feelings for Poppy, even if he thinks that he's pretty good at hiding it. Poppy on the other hand, it was like she doesn't even know just how deep her own feelings for him are, other than just being his best friend.

Finally, after a long period of just music playing on Suki's turntables, gentle words came into the song. No one said anything nor made a sound, not even the sole pair that was dancing on the floor. No one wanted this moment to end.

So this is love, mmm.
So this is love.
So this is what makes life divine.

At first, both Branch and Poppy wanted to blush when they heard the words of the song. But then they remembered that most slow dance songs were basically love songs, so they shrugged it off because it probably won't insinuate much. Right?

I'm all aglow, mmm.
And now I know (And now I know)
The key to all heaven is mine.

If that is so, then why did both of them feel like their hearts were pounding so fast against their chests and beating so loud that they were afraid for a few seconds that their dance partner might hear it? And at the same time, why did they feel like they didn't care if they were heard?

My heart has wings, mmm,
And I can fly.
I'll touch every star in the sky.

Neither Poppy or Branch cared at the moment. All that mattered right now was each other, and how their movements were practically perfect, their hearts harmonizing with the song as it slowly drew itself to a close, and each other to almost slowly glide into a stop.

So this is the miracle
That I've been dreaming of.
Mmm, mmm.
So this is love.

Their breaths mingling together, their eyes never leaving each other; they seemed to be gravitating slowly towards each other, their faces inclining and their hearts still pounding in their ears. Eyes slowly became lidded and heavy as they closed, their faces closer and closer. Lips were about to lightly touch another's-

CRASH!

Everyone literally jumped up at the sound of something breaking. All eyes zipped over to where it came from and saw Cooper standing a few inches away from a broken bowl of punch, the fruity liquid soaking into the grass. He looked incredibly guilty.

Both Branch and Poppy immediately sprung into action. Branch quickly inspected the situation, and then reached into his hair and pulled out a sweeper and dustpan. He then began sweeping the broken bits of glass onto the pan while Poppy immediately got a new punchbowl and filled it up.

While they were cleaning it up, everyone else narrowed their eyes at Cooper, silently berating him for ruining the moment. He just smiled sheepishly, not feeling any better with the way everyone was glaring at him. Even he could see that there was something between Poppy and Branch, and his little incident did not help very much.

Soon, everything went back to normal as they danced off to the last song of the night. Poppy and Branch were dancing with each other again, but the thought of what almost happened was ringing through their minds. Luckily, no one had noticed their slightly flushed cheeks as everyone else seemed to be dancing their feet off. But little did they know that as they continued to dance, as the moment kept playing over and over in their minds, they were thinking the same thing about it.

That was not how I thought that moment would play out.

A/N: Yeah, I know. I'm cruel.

Okay, this song, as of recent I would hear it and immediately, I would think of Branch and Poppy at the Hair Ball. It was just too good to pass up. This is from the 1950 version of Disney's Cinderella, called "So This is Love." I don't know it in any way or form. All credit goes to the rightful owners.

I'm happy to receive requests from you guys if you want to. Just leave it in the reviews or PM me if you want. I'm happy to take any. Just one condition; make sure that there is no vulgar language.
