Magic Tricks

Chapter 1

Faith Mallory Pevense, is the second eldest in her family of five girls.

While all her family have special gifts with magic and such, she on the other hand, has a different trick.

She tracks magic.

She dissolves most magical objects like they were used for evil or just for tricks.

Either way, it's her job to be the magic tracker and find all these things to save many people from getting hurt or getting possessed by the magic.

Unlike her family, she knows more about magic then anyone. She knows that magic, has a mind of it's own.

During her time in this inn for a renaissance fair, she is searching for an object that is turning humans into frogs.

And not small frogs. No way. More like human walking on two feet mindless zombie frogs.

"Good to see our knights have arrived." Said the hotel owner.

"This rain isn't letting up!" Someone yelled.

Faith isn't much for conversation. She much rather observe from afar.

"This was a terrible idea." Toya spoke.

"Come on Toya. Sakura wanted to go." Tomoyo said.

"I did but not when it was-" *Thunder cracks. "AH!" Sakura screams.

Faith sadly couldn't come by herself. While she invited Yue and Ruby originally, Ruby fell ill and Yue said he was busy helping Eriol. So, he said to take Sakura and Toya in their places. Tomoyo just so happened to over hear and tagged along.

Faith didn't mind her sister's friends to come along. Sakura is the Card Captor after all.

Toya she really did mind. While her sister Hope loved hanging around him, she preferred Yue and Ruby or even Eriol over him.

"Let's head to our room." Faith said.

"Okay." Sakura came out from where she was hiding and followed Faith up to the bedroom.

Entering inside she sighed. "I wish..."

"I'm sorry. I know you should be working." Sakura said.

"Trust me Sakura. You aren't the problem." She never could tell her that she hated or disliked her brother.

"I'm just upset that no one's slipped up yet. We've been here for nearly a week. I'm not leaving till I find this object. And once I find it and cleanse it, We can leave. Or for me, I'll sleep while you guys have fun this weekend." She said.

Sakura nodded. "I wish I could help you find it with one of my cards." She said.

"It's fine. I don't want you to lose one of them in the middle of this anyway." Faith said. "Grace and Sora would kill me." She added.

Grace and Sora are Faith's younger twin sisters. And friends of Sakura's.

"I'm glad. I don't know what I'd do if I lost any of them." Sakura said.

The issue with Faith's power of Tracking, She could easily mix up magic signals with Sakura's cards.

So she has to come with few cards as possible.

And she needs to hold them to herself or else Faith could accidentally cleanse them and they'd fade away into oblivion.

And Faith didn't want that. Or Clow Reed would slay her where she stood for messing with HIS magic. Faith never disrespected her "master" as she calls him.

Suddenly, Faith felt a blast of magic coming from downstairs.

"Sakura. Let's go." She said.

The two raced down and found almost everyone was gone. All who were down here were the owner, Toya and the knights who came in earlier.

There was one of the princesses but she was sleeping away on the couch where Faith couldn't see till later.

"Just great." Faith said. "Someone's taken everyone." She sighed.

"What?! They have Tomoyo?" Sakura asked panicked.

"Don't worry. They won't for long." Faith said.

She held out her left arm which had a watch on it.

Like Syaoran's board, Faith had a watch that tracked where magic still lingered and made a path for her to search.

She closed her eyes and began to focus.

Focusing on the magic that was still in the room then on Tomoyo and hoping to make the connection of where they could be at.

But the odd thing was...Tomoyo was still in the room.

Yet she wasn't when Faith had her eyes open.

But focusing harder, she then realized, it wasn't Toya sitting right there on the couch.

Faith opened her eyes. That's where the magic was coming from.

She didn't know what the item was, but she slowly figured out what it did.

"Sakura. I'll tell you this. Tomoyo is fine. She's just frozen in place. We also can't see her." Faith explained that bit to her.

"Okay. So this item can freeze everyone and make them invisible." She said.

"Of sorts." Faith said. "I believe, Tomoyo is frozen where she is, because she's trapped in a time loop. Meaning, she thinks where still upstairs in the bedroom." Faith explained. "And one last thing." She said.

"Oh boy. What is it?" Sakura asked not liking the sound Faith was talking in.

Faith stared at the fake Toya, hoping to find what the object of the magic was. But no luck.

"That isn't Toya sitting on the couch. It's a fake. And it's also where the magic is coming from." She said.

Sakura was more scared as she looked right at the Toya sitting there smiling away. It really wasn't her brother.

"Smart." Said the fake Toya. He stood up slowly to face them.

"Your the tracker." He grinned.

Faith took a fighting stand and pulled out her dagger and sai blades.

"What have you done to the real Toya?" She asked.

Sakura wanted to grab her key and help, but if she did, she could lose one of her cards.

The fake Toya laughed. "You'll never find him or the rest of these people." He said.

Faith looked at the Knights, then a princess sat up and then the owner turned in her direction.

"Oh great. You also have many forms." She said.

But the fake vanished before she could finish.

"What do we do now?!" Sakura asked.

All Faith could do was roll her eyes. "Fight."
