Hey all! This is a teaser for a new story I am considering. If it gets enough reviews, I'll keep on writing!

Slowly, the town of Dirt rebuilt, and life became even better out there than it was before. Water day was not only Wednesday but every Saturday as well, now that the Mayor was no longer in control of the water spigot. Business boomed with water in ready supply and any extra water they had Dirtonians stored in the bank, which was now ran by Beans.

"It feels strange not havin' Mr. Merrimac here," the desert iguana said one day, with a sad shake of her head. "I'd known him since I was a little girl."

Rango put a reassuring hand on her arm. "I know, Beans. But I bet this is what Mr. Merriman would've wanted. He would've wanted you to take care of yourself. And now with your job in charge of the bank, I bet you can take good care of the family farm."

"Thanks, Rango. I'm glad your back to bein' the Sheriff. I'm even gladder you're my boyfriend. You always know just what to say," Beans said, and gave him a peck on the cheek. Rango's whole face lit up. "So I'll see you tonight?"

"Ha ha, absolutely." Rango smiled as he watched Beans leave. Even though they'd been "together" since he'd returned to retake his rightful place in Dirt, being around her still gave him that warm, fluttery feeling in his stomach. Dating the past few weeks did little to calm his nerves.

Around Beans Rango forgot how to act; did she want him to hold her, kiss her, take the lead? It felt like the next right step on the hero's journey, but despite all his romantic plays and imaginings, he didn't have the slightest clue how to romance her. I got the girl, part of him wondered, now what next? I'm the Sheriff, and I thought I got everything I wanted, but now I don't know anymore. I wish I was bigger, stronger, faster. I wish I could surprise Beans. I wish I could have a love so strong it knocks me right off my feet.

Those would be fateful last words when a gypsy came to town.
