Chapter Two
BPOV:
"Bella. It's time to wake up." Charlie's voice pulled me out of the warm darkness and I felt my eyebrows pull together as I shifted and groaned.
I heard him chuckle. I peeped one eye open. He was still in his pajamas but was holding a cup of coffee.
"I come bearing coffee, daughter of mine." He tilted the cup slightly. I opened both eyes and sat up.
"What time is it?" My voice was gravelly, as it often was in the mornings. He handed me the steaming mug and I took a healthy sip before I set it on my night table.
"6:30. I thought you would want a better start this morning." His mustache twitched as he eyed my hair and my red eyes. "Renee isn't a morning person either. That's where you get it from."
I huffed through my nose but didn't say anything. It was too early to speak.
His jaw quivered as he tried to school his expression.
"I'll let you get ready. I was thinking I would actually cook us some breakfast this morning so you're not stuck with just a granola bar." He was heading out before I could respond. I blinked a couple of time before I dragged myself away from the warmth of my comforter.
The wood flooring was cool on my bare feet and I cringed before I headed over to my dresser, where my outfit lay.
I got dressed quickly and styled my hair half up so it would stay out of my face, then headed to the bathroom where I brushed my teeth.
When I walked downstairs, Charlie was already assembling breakfast sandwiches. One for me and one for him. I sat at the table, and he put the plate in front of me then filled up my coffee cup.
"Good morning." He said quietly, before tucking into his sandwich.
I smiled at him. It was nice feeling cared for. At Renee's I was always in charge of the cooking. God knows she never brought me coffee to help me wake up in the morning. I felt guilt weigh heavily on my heart when I realized that Charlie was appreciating caring for someone as much as I was appreciating being cared for.
He flipped through the newspaper as we ate, and I read a book on my phone, thinking about Edward Cullen.
"Charlie?" I asked him quietly, taking a swig of my coffee as I finished my sandwich.
He looked up and quirked an eyebrow.
"What do you think falling in love feels like?" One thing that had been grating on me since I saw Edward yesterday was the pull that I felt towards him. I wanted to know if it was normal to feel this intensely.
Charlies' face went pink. "Do you like a boy at school?" He asked, eyeing me closely, probably looking for any signs of lying.
I shrugged.
He took a deep breath. "Sometimes falling in love is fast and intense and scary. Sometimes falling in love is gentle, quiet and sneaks up on you. When I….When I fell in love with your mom it was very quick. Overwhelming. I'm not sure which way is better or longer lasting, Bells. I know what I felt was genuine." I appreciated the honest answer from him. He stared at me for a beat longer before he stood up and pulled two thermos' out of the cabinet. He prepared both of us coffee while I cleaned up the plates and mugs from breakfast.
"Today, I'll pick you up from school. I have a surprise." He smiled at me as he handed me my thermos, and I felt my eyebrows shoot up curiously.
"No prying it out of your old man, Bells. Get in the cruiser." Laughing, he pulled me out of the house.
~O~
Alice was waiting for me when I got out of the cruiser. Before I could shut the door, she grabbed it with surprising strength, and leaned down to talk to Charlie.
"Good morning, Chief Swan!" She smiled at him brightly. His cheeks turned pink.
"Good morning, Alice." His smile was small.
"I was wondering if Bella could come over to my house on Friday evening? I know it's her first weekend here, but a slumber party would be so fun!" She was bubbly and happy, just like yesterday. Her eyes pleaded with Charlie. I knew he wouldn't be able to resist her charms.
He cleared his throat and ran his hand on his mustache.
"Sure. If it's okay with Bella."
Alice squealed her thanks before he had even gotten the whole sentence out and slammed the door of the cruiser, pulling me away from it.
"We are going to have so much fun, Bella! We'll order out some Chinese food or pizza if you want it! I'll give you a manicure and a pedicure, we'll watch movies! You'll be able to meet my Mom and Dad! They'll love you. You'll love them too, of course. We're going to have lots of sleepovers." She was practically skipping as I trudged along beside her, heading toward my locker to dump my backpack.
I laughed lightly as she bumped my shoulder. I couldn't deny that as we walked I had glanced around for Edward. I couldn't see him anywhere. He was fairly easy to spot with his hair.
"So…Bella." She was smiling at me playfully, and I realized what she was going to do a half second before she did it, "Edward really likes you. Maybe we can spend some time with him on Friday." She waggled her eyebrows.
I felt my face flush.
"Do you like him, Bella?" Her eyes were very serious as she looked at me, playfulness out of her tone. She wasn't speaking a million miles a minute either.
Sighing, I nodded.
"I think maybe a little too much." I felt that tug in my abdomen at just the thought of him.
Alice smiled largely, "Oh Bella. He likes you a lot too. He's not touchy with girls you know. The fact that he touched you yesterday and wanted to learn about you says a lot."
I learned against my locker. It meant a lot hearing that his actions were genuine from his sister, someone who knew him very well. I gave her a small smile.
Suddenly, warmth bloomed in my abdomen and I felt a hard tug. I immediately glanced down the hall and saw his shock of red hair, headed towards us.
"Hmph. Should've known he wouldn't let me have you alone for long." Alice pouted beside me, but I could tell she wasn't serious, because her face split into a huge smile immediately after she got her words out.
His eyes were very dark today. His eyes swept over me before glancing at Alice.
"Thank you for stealing my car, midget." He growled lightly at Alice and smiled and shrugged before turning on her heel.
"I'm going to find Jasper. Meet you at the cafeteria doors for lunch, Bella!" She waved over her shoulder.
Edward smiled down at me and I felt my lips immediately pull up. His smile was infectious.
"May I walk you to class, Bella?" He asked me, holding his arm out so I could place mine through his.
"Ah. What a gentleman." I teased as I looped our arms together. His smile widened, and he inclined his head, then held his hand out expectantly.
"Your books?" He questioned, I started to shake my head, but he pulled them out of my hand and started to tug us toward my first period class.
His proximity was dizzying. He smelled so good. Spicy and sweet. My skin felt over sensitized when I was near him, the material from his shirt felt rough on my skin.
"You look absolutely edible this morning, Bella." His voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I quirked an eyebrow at his phrasing. He was holding back a smile.
"Is that a compliment?" I asked him. My brain flew straight into the gutter a moment after I had spoken out loud, processing his comment as sexual.
For a second, I thought about it. What it would feel like if his tongue was rubbing up against my clit. I remembered thinking about him last night when I had my one on one time with my vibrator. My stomach clenched. I felt color pink my cheeks as I realized I was getting aroused with him standing next to me.
He playfully snapped at me with his teeth in response to my question as we walked and I felt my knees weaken slightly.
I eyed him out of the corner and saw his nostrils flare before a low moan built up in his throat.
Could he….smell me?
My face felt like it was on fire at the thought.
I could see my classroom, and I started to unwind my arm from his so that I could compose myself. He let me but stopped walking.
"I'll see you at lunch?" I offered, holding my hands out for my books.
Edwards' breathing was heavy and he was eyeing me with the same intensity as yesterday. His eyes were dark again, nostrils flaring with every deep breath he took from his nose.
"What are you thinking about, Isabella?" He asked me. His voice had taken on a seductive quality, his words low and his eyes slowly moving up and down my body. They rested a beat too long between my legs.
I felt frozen. There was no way he could smell my reaction to him. Normal people did not have those kind of senses.
I shook my head, "Just about meeting you guys for lunch?" It came out as a question. I took a step back from him. The second that my foot lifted up, so did his. He took a large step toward me.
"No…I don't believe you are."
I swallowed loudly, taking another step back from him. It pushed me against the cool lockers and my left hand dropped to the cool metal. It felt heavenly on my sweaty palm. My other hand reached up to Edwards chest. He had taken another large step as I had, and effectively cornered me.
His chest was cool and hard. I put some pressure on him with my hand.
"Edward. Are you okay?" I deflected as best as I could. My stomach felt clenched so tight, I could hardly breathe. My heart was hammering so hard I felt like it would jump out of my chest.
"Do you want me to lose control?" Edwards' voice was tight. His face was frustrated, eyes so black I couldn't help but marvel at them. He dropped our books to the ground and took another step to me, putting his hard body flush against me, my hand sandwiched between us.
He deliberately placed his hands on the lockers on either side of my head, tilting his own head, waiting for me to answer his question.
I looked around frantically. If people were staring at us before, they sure as hell were going to stare right now. The halls were empty. Had the bell rang?
"Answer my question." Velvet, seductive smoothness. My brain felt foggy. I felt helplessly confused, and massively turned on. With every deep breath I took my nipples were pushing on his chest. They were tight, and I knew he could feel them, hard against him. His hand came down and hesitated for only a moment before his fingers lightly started tracing the neckline of my top.
"I…um…no?" I licked my lips and the hand that had moments ago been applying pressure to Edwards chest, slid up to ball his shirt in my hand by his shoulder.
He took a very deep breath and his hand that was trailing fire across my chest dragged down, over my breast and to the waistline of my jeans, where he began to toy with the button.
His tongue peeked out to moisten his lips and I stared at them, willing him to kiss me. I watched as his lips quirked up into a small smirk.
"If you don't want me to lose control," he spoke in a whisper, cool breath puffing into my face, "you need to control this pussy," his hand slid down and cupped me, the heel of his hand pushing against my clit. My gasp of 'jesus' was caught in his mouth as he kissed me hard, pulling away so fast I didn't have time to respond, grinding the heel of his palm. It felt better than anything, ever. The danger of being caught in the hallway, the roughness of his voice, his words, the possessive way he held me, the hardness of his body on mine. The persistence of his cock, so hard, on my hip. A moan spilled out of my throat.
"If you smell like this when you meet us for lunch, I won't be able to stop myself from fucking you on the table for everyone to see." I was panting at this point. He was staring at me with concentration, eyeing my responses. My eyes were heavy lidded, my legs locking together to keep his hand exactly where it was.
"Edward, for Christs' sake! Get off her and let the girl get to class!" My head jerked around fast, as my hand reached down to pull his hand away from where it was resting. Edward ground against me one last time before pulling it away and taking a small step away from me. My knees shook as I leaned against the lockers.
Rosalie Cullen stood about ten feet away from us, looking at Edward with disapproval. He gave her his toothy smile.
"Rosalie, this is Bella. Bella, this is Rosalie, my sister." His voice was still gruff but had taken on a lighter tone. I avoided looking at him at all costs. I also did not want to look at her after she caught us.
I decided to look at the floor, where our books were scattered, then dropped to begin picking them up. Edward joined me and stacked them quickly. When we stood up, Rosalie was gone.
Embarrassed, I walked toward my class, not saying anything to Edward. He followed me, but before I could get to the door, wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me back against him.
"Don't be embarrassed." He ground his erection into my ass, "You're so beautiful and sexy, Bella." I felt him lean down and he placed a quick kiss on my neck and then let me go.
"See you at lunch," He said as he slowly walked away. Once he turned the corner, I took a deep breath and opened the classroom door.
See you at lunch indeed.
