Mugi stood quietly, among the rest of the crowd, she was one of them now, after all. That was one of the shocking things about the United States. To a girl of her upbringing, everyone should be focused on her, she should be the center of attention. And yet, here she was, one among many in the long line which snaked through the room.

Yet the thing that caught her attention, even more so than her lack of importance, was the security. She had grown up in the age of post 9/11 security measures, yet what she did not expect to see was several men, armed with military style rifles, wearing body armor from head to toe, almost resembling the SWAT teams she had seen in that American movie. Yet as she looked up she could see even more guards up on the catwalk, walking back and forth, Their rifles topped with what looked like a small scope?

As she moved further and further up the line, she held onto her documents even tighter then before. When she first began her preparations for the trip to tour the United States, she was surprised at the amount of documents she needed just to get inside the country. She had asked her father if he could pull some strings to make the process a little easier, I mean, Mugi herself had no problems with all the paperwork, but she knew that Ritsu, and Especially Yui, were bound to mess something up. Her father came back to her and told her that while greasing the wheels can get quite a bit done in a country like the United States, anything involving the Department of Homeland Security was almost immune to it. Clearly the Americans were NOT taking any chances... a fact made all the more evident by the repeating warning playing over the speakers:

"A reminder, anyone caught jumping over the security barriers that mark the line will be killed."

and the sign she saw when they first got off the plane and had to walk across the open tarmac, which read:

"WARNING: When crossing the Tarmac, Keep arms above head at ALL TIMES or you will be SHOT ON SIGHT"

and below the sign sat another sign, this time with a red background:

"Do not run directly at military personnel"

"Do not ignore military personnel when they address you"

"Do not make any sudden movements"

For some insane reason, she just HAD to be the one at the front of their little group. Not that being anywhere else would help alleviate her stress. She was worried she would have an aneurysm from the damn fear, and NOT helping was all the Goddamn soldiers walking around with loaded firearms! She knew they were watching her too, from time to time she could sense their gaze on her, as if they thought she was stupid enough to cause trouble in front of all these people who she was almost certain operated under "Shoot first ,ask questions later." orders.

Her heart skipped a beat as she realized she was fourth in line now to enter the checkpoint proper and face whatever horrors lied beyond. The soldier in the front of the line signaled with his gun barrel to start moving forward, and with each passing individual, the soldier standing on the other side clicked a counter, with an audible "CLICK" noise. As she passed the soldiers, she saw the counter give a signal to the guard, and he pointed the barrel of his gun across the path, signaling everyone behind her to wait.

As she stepped closer to the door, she almost fainted as she realized she was going into that room, alone. All by herself. Nobody Else. Just her and who knows what on the other side.

"Oh well", Mio said, sighing as the began to push on the door, "Here goes nothing..."
