Comfy Days and Cozy Things
Hello lovelies!
Yes, you read the author name correctly. PrincessEmma has returned and I am back with something new! This started out as a one-shot for my friend and fellow writer, MissaSissa. It has evolved into a short multichapter story, because of plot bunnies. I just wanted to drop a note really quick. I will be updating all of my stories as well as bringing back an updated and expanded BABY GIRL!
Also, if you wouldn't mind doing me a favor, drop a comment! This story could go one of two ways. It could be just friends or romance. As always, read and enjoy!
PrincessEmma of Arendelle
Iridescent raindrops trickled down the window, and Emma could not have asked for a better backdrop. She should not be feeling like this, since everything was going in their favor. Her parents were trying to leave their tangled past in the Enchanted Forest, and they were even beginning to accept Regina into their circle. The blonde thought it was more her mom making the changes versus David, who always seemed to be more laid-back. The more malevolent denizens had been on the quiet side, and Storybrooke was finally a picture-perfect sleepy, little town. Laying her head against the cool glass, Emma was considering just falling asleep right there, but a knock on the door startled her.
Uncurling her legs, Emma stretched as she walked towards the door. Opening the door, she came face to face with her newly made friend, Regina. They had a rocky start, but once the brunette realized that the Savior had no intention of taking Henry away, the two women had formed a friendship. There was no judgement, no arguing, and they were just two people.
"What are you doing here?" Wow. That came out harsher than she intended. Clearing her throat, she tried again. "Nice to see you 'Gina." Stepping back, she opened the door, and tried hard to not peek in the tempting bag. Regina merely scrunched her nose at her friend. "How long have you been wearing those sweats?" She shook her head before continuing. "On second thought, don't answer that. I haven't seen you around town in days, and your mother actually texted me asking if I had seen you." Emma had to quirk her eyebrow at that one but said nothing.
Regina sighed softly as she looked at her friend. Emma had been forlorn to say the least, and she could not help but feel that the pirate had some involvement. She could understand wanting to get away from reality, but he took it to a whole other level. "I can see you eyeing the bag, but it's for later. I am going to rummage around and make an actual meal, and I want you to go up and change. It can be pajamas, but please ditch those sweats."
Emma considered balking, but she really wanted to know what was in the bag. Knowing that this was a battle she would not win, the blonde trudged up the stairs. Her bedroom seemed larger than normal since Killian had left on his "trip", and she rarely came in here when he was gone. The Savior knew that the older woman would probably end up cooking a whole feast, so she decided to head into the shower first. Emma hurried in the shower, but briefly considered just staying there under the warm water. The mystery bag was calling her, so she toweled off and dressed in new clothes as requested.
Reaching for a different pair of lounge pants, she changed her mind. Regina had taken the time to come over and check on her. The least she could do was look like she was a human. Dressing in her normal jeans and tank top, she wrapped up in a thick sweater before heading back downstairs. Rounding the corner into the kitchen, her mouth instantly watered at the different smells. I swear she only had two bags! Is she like Hermione? Shaking the absurd thought out of her mind, Emma spoke up. "Anything I can do to help, 'Gina?" The mayor merely pointed at a stack of plates with cutlery. "You can set the table, dear. Dinner's nearly ready."
Emma could not help the giggle that escaped her lips. Grabbing the cream-colored dishes, she began setting the table as she explained herself. "Sorry. Its just...the change in our relationship is more than a little crazy, wouldn't you agree? I mean, you wouldn't give me the time of day four years ago, and now, here we are having dinner together." Indeed, the once feuding pair had come a long way since the savior's arrival.
They kept the conversation lighthearted while filling their plates and stomachs with creamy alfredo, garlic bread, and much to Emma's dismay, salad. It wasn't that she had anything against salad, or vegetables, but she wasn't excited about them either. They talked about Henry, of course, and Regina even opened up with a couple of memories from the Enchanted Forest and her father, the original Henry. Emma cleared the dinner dishes while Regina cut thick slices from a five-layer chocolate cake. They settled back into their seats continuing their conversation from earlier. Emma was enjoying the evening, and not wanting it to end, suggested a glass of wine. Grabbing a bottle of red wine and two glasses, the blonde led the way into the living room. Emma was pouring the wine when she noticed her friend glancing at her. "Uh, yes?"
"How are you? I don't want some happy bullshit answer, because quite frankly, I hear enough of that from your mother." The blonde considered giving a vague answer, but knowing it would not fly with her friend, she told the truth. "Honestly? I am miserable with Killian being gone. I thought he would be different than other guys I've dated, and I thought we would be able to work through our problems together. It feels like there is something wrong with me that guys just won't try and work things out, you know? Why do they just run away?"
Regina sighed before answering the younger woman. "Emma, I wish I could say something to help you. However, I have a feeling that your mom has given you endless pep talks. You just need to remember there's nothing wrong with you." The blonde felt a small warmth spread through her at the brunette's words. She was about to respond when she glanced out the window and gasped. "Uh, 'Gina? I don't think you're going home tonight." Fat snowflakes were falling rapidly, and even though it was barely 6 pm, it was nearly black out.
"Are you sure I can't just poof home?" Emma just looked at her friend and sighed. The brunette held her hands up in defense with a mixture of amusement and annoyance on her face. "Yes, I am sure. We've both had a couple glasses of wine and it's practically a blizzard outside. I don't mind if you leave your car here, but what if you mess up with the whole poofing and like end up missing an eyebrow or an arm?"
Looking at the blonde, Regina just offered a half-laugh. "You read too much Harry Potter, but okay. I'll stay here tonight."
