Chapter 14 : Let's Think This Through

Some time ago...

As Victoria's fist was near to hitting the mysterious Cape, multiple green hexagonal forcefields suddenly appeared just on the path where her fist was going to hit.

Then those forcefields broke and her fist was just coming closer to the girl's hooded face.

And suddenly, another forcefield appeared now covering the side where her fist is going to hit.

This time her fist didn't manage to break it. Due to the weird field that was weakening their powers, Victoria's forcefield was becoming weaker. This includes her enhanced strength.

And while she still have enough strength to dent of steel, the force of her fist was reduced because of the first forcefield.

What this mystery girl did is just use multiple layers of barrier. Though it took awhile to do it because she was still feeling somewhat alienated to her own body, she manage to do it at the nick of time.

Then, Sicily created a wall of fire in between them. Though Glory Girl was holding her and she can't really take out her grip on her, her dress along with her robes and scarves all have the capability to tank thermal damages. This includes heat from intense flames.

With a precision that can't be thought of by a newbie Cape, the flame wall precisely shoots out in a pillar between them. This hits Glory Girl's arm who was still holding the collar of Sicily's robe. And even though Glory Girl have a forcefield and can't be harmed at it, she can still feel the heat of that flame. The flame also surprises her when it appeared.

That's why her hand holding Sicily loosened.

In the split second that she does this, Sicily takes advantage of the enchantment on her boots and then she moves back in a quick manner. This is because the enchantment in her boots makes it so that she felt light when moving around. This makes it easy to move on the ground.

Taylor doesn't know but along with the robe and scarf that she enchanted, Sicily's original set that she was wearing when she first transformed as her also have their own enchantments.

"I am sorry..." She then said her apologies as she created another wall of flame, this one have a different color.

While the flame awhile ago looks like something the typical pyrokinetics in this world uses, this flame she is holding in her hand was blue in color.

That kind of flame was thrown at the ground where the four of them are near. After that it exploded.

Thanks to the training and experiences that they have, the three Wards manage to jump back. In case of Shadow Stalker, she just phase out while moving back. Though it took her a long time before managing to shift out because of the robe's weakening field so she felt some impact from the explosion. Other than that she was fine.

Glory Girl just tanked it all. Her forcefield breaking because of the sheer impact of the explosion.

"Aaah!" Glory Girl yelped in pain as she stands back.

This is because the heat was too much. Though her forcefield took all the force of the explosion along with the burst of flames accompanied by the explosion, the heat is still an entirely different matter.

And at the same time they are doing that, Sicily was already using her Search Magic to see if there are anyone nearby at all.

She felt some people approaching this place though they are far enough so she can prepare to use Gate to get out of here.

As far as Sicily remembers, she was just sleeping in her manor when she found herself in an expansive black space. Along with her are two other girls ar first. Then they were added by four more.

She thinks that she was having a lucid dream at first so she just sit on the sofa that somehow was in there. There are teas and cookies placed on the table that was besides the sofas.

And then she watches the weird magical panel where she can see the perspective of one Taylor Anne Hebert while she occasionally changes to the forms of her and the others who are along with her in this dark expansive space.

Of course because she thought it was a dream, she didn't take much of this seriously and just passed the time while she waa talking to the other girls who are also watching everything unfolds.

Then when she felt sleepy on that dark expansive space, she woke up in her manor again, further strengthening her belief that it was a dream.

Now she doesn't thought that this was a simple dream at all. Everytime she sleeps, she finds herself going back to that dark expansive space with some of the girls there. Also, it seems like the time in this weird dream world was strange. Because they said that she just slept for some minutes on the sofa before waking up in there.

Because they can hear Taylor's every thoughts when they are watching her, they knew some about her history. There is also a weird bookshelf there besides them which somehow tells them all the things that Taylor knows.

Anyway, Sicily felt that Taylor was pitiful while watching her. She even told this to her friends, though they are just amused at her. Her best friend even told her that she should think about writing a story because she was pretty good at making a strange tale, even though she was just telling them what she reads about Taylor's history.

Only Shin seems to be believing her though he gave an apology because he cannot help much about her situation.

Also on the first day she got on that weird dream world, she learned that she can control her form that Taylor is using when Taylor was trying to let the feeling of naturalness move her.

So now, she just see that Taylor was becoming very panicked while being chased around by some people she called as Heroes. Which makes the others also try giving a lot of reactions and advices everytime Taylor met with an opposition. It doesn't really help because Taylor can't hear her.

And when they thought that Taylor was going to be punched by some blonde haired costumed girl, they almost flinched. Even Miles (the girl who was the most loudest on them at reacting) closed her eyes with her hands.

Then she found a weird floating panel in her face, telling her that she will overriding Taylor's control for awhile until she decided to give Taylor's body back or until a whole day pass.

She decided to help her Taylor, and also let her escape.

Even though the Heroes was being harsh at Taylor, Sicily felt that the people there was just doing their jobs, though she felt that they are going a bit too much.

She didn't want to fight them. They are still at the side of the law. She is sure they are just chasing Taylor (in her form) because she didn't give any explanation and ran away while she was panicking.

And now she was just going to do that.

She felt that Taylor can't really go to her world using Gate so she thought of Taylor's former hideout before using Gate.

"Hey wait!" It seems like Glory Girl recovered and was already flying to her side with her hand outstretched towards her direction.

She gave another apology to the heroes in a quiet tone before finally passing through the Gate. Also, she felt somewhat scared on Glory Girl now, though she can understand why is that so.

She just uses the powerful flame spell that Shin uses because she learned from Taylor's knowledge that Glory Girl is immune to any attacks and also have an aura that affects the emotions of those surrounding her. That's why she thought Glory Girl won't be harmed much by them.

It was also used in place of a flash bang, so the three other heroes can't react quickly when she was opening the Gate. Of course she made sure that her flame spell explode somewhere that won't leave any grievous harm to those three.

She managed to escape that place just before the other PRT troopers and heroes manages to arrived there.

So apparently, I suddenly lose consciousness. Then when it happened, Sicily suddenly took over this body and bail me out.

... Huh? How did that happen!?

No, that's not the right question.

So the people I am using are real people!?

Oh my god! Did I just hijack their bodies!?

I am sorry whoever I am using now. I can't go back to my normal body!

No wait. Let's think this through.

So if I am hijacking someone's body, what did they think of me right now?

Are they mad at me? Maybe they are currently hurling curses at me and was wishing I die and take their body back?

Ugh... I am sorry. I didn't even thought I am hijacking the bodies of some other Capes.

I was becoming pretty mad right now. I was mostly venting it out on the weird floating panel. Of course it doesn't responds to me.

Anyway, I need to calm down. If these characters can override me again or something, I hope they tell me if they are dissatisfied with it or not. I would hate to impose my will on the others. It's like I am Mastering them.

If I can come back to my original body, I would. I just don't know how and killing myself was just a waste of effort. I might be killing myself along with all the bodies I currently have if I do that.

Yes... let's not think about it!

Though because of this, I would be more reluctant to take any forms now.

I hope when the original one overrides me, they tell me if it was okay or not. It was really haunting my mind now.

Wait a minute, why don't I try and willingly use this Character Override thingy!

I imagined just using that... nothing happens.

"Character Override!" This time I tried shouting it out (with Sicily's beautiful voice, which somehow makes me embarassed), nothing still happens.

Then I tried a lot more. Like asking this weird panel to commence or start the Character Override, using some weird poses (which I immediately stop because I feel more embarassed when I am doing that), using some magic while calling out Character Override, and just imagining the forms I am using and thinking that they should use my body. Sometimes, I also do all of it at the same time. Nothing happens!

It took me several tries before I finally give up.

"Ugh... so I can't force them to override me huh..." I muttered while feeling depressed by it.

I thought about what would happen if they didn't return control of this body when they override me but I think it was fine for me. I would prefer giving up this body rather than taking the freedom of others!

Well... unless if they are villains or criminals. I won't be taking their freedom but I won't also let them do what they want.

Or well, I would if I know how these people truly acts. I don't know a single thing about the people who I am using now. I have some vague knowledge about them based on my experience like Sicily who wants to help people, Reina who is surprisingly good at stuffs involving survival and combat, Ringo Ohoshi who have a large amount of knowledge involving science and technology, Keine Kanzaki who have an intensive knowledge regarding medicine and being a doctor, Francette who might be a Knight somewhere or just a hero with a Knight motif (might also be a villain because there is a knight themed cape in this city who is one), Filo who can turn into a Filolial (whatever that means), and Miles who have the highest administrative rights to control the Nanomachines.

That's not much of a knowledge.

Ugh... for now I will be using these seven bodies. I can't choose another person to hijack if that is what my true powers can do.

Now that I decided about that, I should plan what should I do next regarding the hunt against me.

Well... the heroes might be looking for me because I ran away from them. They might know I am the one who created the Nanomachines or not. Even if they don't, I won't bet on that.

I still want to see my Dad even if I said that it would be okay for me if I stay dead and not hijack some body. Well, I just want to know if he is okay or not.

I look outside and saw that the sun has already set.

So it took me until this time just thinking about these stuffs huh...

Anyway, I should use my seven forms to the fullest. I can't guarantee that these body comes back to their owner after I am done using them. What I won't do for now is to add forms to my repertoire.

First I need a technology to wiretap the calls. I also need some other weapons, not just these clothes. I also can' t use Miles and Reina's form now because everyone will be able to locate me if I use it.

Even if they manage to see me as Sicily, they might have just gotten lucky. They might have located me because I kept changing into Miles on short intervals, thinking that Thinkers all over the world won't be able to detect my location if I did it within a short time.

So now I won't use them until I felt that it's the right time to do it.

Okay! Let's do this!

So this chapter was just a filler one... or more like an "Excuse Chapter"... sorry about that T_T

I know this doesn't show or progress anything at all... I am just writing whatever came to mind anyway...
