Please take a peek at the poll on my story to determine the othr regressors for this story! This story initially started as a one shot as a birthday gift for my dear friend Willow (Happy Late Birthday Honeybee!) But, the past month began to have me lagging. With the quarantine, and the consistent and dizzying ups and downs in terms of mental health, I haven't been able to do a lot of writing. But during this time, I've worked a lot on world building for the story. And, this one-shot turned into a whole story! One that I am super excited to write about! So, Willow, I hope you like this! Happy late birthday!
Also! I have a poll on my story! I still need to decide on a handful of regressors for the story, but I can't decide who to choose! So please take a little time to vote on the poll if you can!
My name is Makoto Naegi. I'm 16 years old, I'm a high school second year, and for the most part, I've lived a pretty...regular life. And by regular, I do mean regular. I'm what you would call painstakingly average, I guess. I have my interests, and my hobbies. But they aren't really anything to brag about. I don't have big passions or ambitions. And most of my favorites are just, popular things. Whatever is the rage at the time I guess. So, it's kinda hard to say I have a real, decipherable taste. Maybe I'm not the best choice for a story protagonist. But, despite what you think, I DO have a story to tell. And it's not average! So, I have that going for me if nothing else. I think.
I think what is important to know, is that while I am pretty normal, I do have one discerning personality trait that I can tell you about. I'm very 'gung-ho.' More so than a lot of people I've met. And, I think that's been what's helped me out a lot in lots of different situations. Much like this one. And, it explains how I ended up like this. Happier then ever, and with a boy I'll never let go, nestled into the nape of my neck. It's kind of a long story, but bare with me. I guess I should start from the beginning.
The summer after Sophomore year, I was suddenly sent a letter. It was an acceptance letter! I, the student with no particular talent or ambitions, had been accepted into the Hope's Peak Academy! An elite school only for students who are the absolute best at what they do! In this letter, I was deemed as the 'Ultimate Lucky Student.' Which I guess makes sense. Only the luckiest of students would have been able to make it in on circumstances like this! I wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth though. They say that if you graduate from Hope's Peak, then you're pretty much set for life. So of course I accepted! Who wouldn't want to go to Hopes Peak? Besides who knew what kind opportunities this could bring?
To be honest though...I thought this would have brought a bit more...excitement to my life. And it certainly did! But, I can't say I've ever felt more ordinary than I did once I started attending the school. Some of these students are celebrities for goodness sake! The ultimate pop sensation? The ultimate fashionista? The ultimate affluent prodigy? These names are all over the world! But the name Makoto Naegi is only known in the student roster. Not even the fact that I was a one in a million student was really thought highly of. Because while I was a one in a million student, I was certainly not a one in a million student...
After moving in the academy dormitories, I guess I expected something to change. But, everything stayed the same. I woke up, ate in the dining hall with the others, went to classes, ate again, and then spent the rest of the day just...wandering. Until lights out, where I went back to my room and went to bed. Nothing interesting. I guess I was content living this way. But, I suppose it breeds boredom. I started to crave something. Anything. This ultimates will come to school, go to class, go to photoshoots or interviews or games or whatever. And then come back to the dorms. The halls feel so empty after classes. Their lives are filled with excitement. And mine is just...mine.
So..I decided to do something. Nothing huge! But, just something that would bring me just a little bit more excitement. But before I can explain what happened, I should probably explain one...other thing.
A few years back..I discovered age regression. A therapeutic method of coping, in which the participant mentaly regresses down to a younger age. Sometimes a baby. Sometimes a preteen. It all depends on the person. And, I thought it was interesting! I think everyone has some sort of unvoiced desere to return to a simpler time. And, I was one of those people. So, for a few years, I began to experiment. I would regress down to about a toddler's age, and play with the little things I had bought for myself. I never went out of my way to buy many things for myself. This was only a small thing for me. And, I don't think I ever managed to fully regress. This wasn't for the sake of coping from trauma, or stress. It wasn't involuntary either. But still, I found the idea of it fun at the very least. As the years passed though...I found myself regressing less and less.
It wasn't that I didn't like it! It just didn't really serve as much of a purpose anymore. Every now and again I would pull out the toys and the cute pajamas and coloring books. But, I just didn't get as much out of it anymore. Every now and again, when I was having a tough day or was particularly upset, then I guess I got some extra pleasure out of it. But even then, it felt more like doing and enjoying childish things. Not regressing.
Even so, I still wanted to be involved wih the regression community. I didn't want to just drop it all together. And I just didn't know why...
Once I moved into Hope's Peak, I decided to take some of my regression things. Some of my favorite pajamas and toys and one pacifier. My sister and I took care of most of the packing and moving, so I was able to sneak it all myself. And...I also brought one more thing. One thing that I was especially embarrassed about. A um...a package of diapers. I had gotten curious some months ago and purchased them online in secret. I didn't really have the money for the especially cute looking ones. These were just, regular white ones. A small pack of only six. And I still had four left. I didn't want to go out of my way to buy more, so I bought a small pack, and used them very very sparingly. Again, it was only an experiment. And, I found that I was...indifferent to them. I didn't hate them! But I didn't need them either.
Believe it or not though, it was this little pack of diapers that started this whooooole thing. One silly pack of diapers, that were just as plain as I was, set off such a strange series of events. Events that led to a group of new friends, including the good boy that I hold in my arms now.
