"I don't want to wear a dress!"

"Well you have to."

"WHY?!"

"It's pretty."

"Why do I need to look pretty?"

"This is an important occasion Kayla now go and try on the dress and show us!" Kili laughed. She moaned and walked into the changing room, stepping out two minutes later. Fili and Kili stared at her in shock.

"See, you look gorgeous." Fili told her.

Kayla groaned and her and her brothers walked in their nice clothes to the doors of the hall. "You look beautiful" Dis complemented, and laughed when Kayla grimaced.

"It's a dress." She moaned, looking down at it. She did secretly love it, but she had to keep her reputation of hating dresses.

"You know wearing a dress like that attracts Fili, and then he'll ask you to buy him a jelly bean which leads to a kiss. It's kind of a cycle." Kili said in a southern accent. Fili lifted up a hand and full on slapped Kili over the head, who laughed. "OW!" He exaggerated, rubbing his head and looking injured. Dis rolled her eyes.

"Boys." She growled, though a smile twitched the at corners of her mouth. She sighed and pushed open the doors. Thorin sat down on a throne at the front of the large hall and smiled when he saw his family enter and walk up the isle. he locked eyes with Kayla.

"You look beautiful." He signed to her and she smiled at him.

"You look majestic." She signed back and he laughed. She sat down at the front next to her brothers. Dis walked up to stand by Thorin. She looked behind at the many dwarves, and Gandalf and Bilbo were there too, though Bilbo was leaving tomorrow which made Kayla said - she quite liked their burglar. She saw Bard and his family at the back and she grinned - he had said he was coming.

"All hail, King under the mountain!" The dwarf placed the crown on Thorin's head and he looked up and smiled. The crowd cheered.

"Thank you." Thorin said.

Everyone eventually moved out of the seats for the after party.

Fili walked over to Dianne who pecked him on the cheek and then they moved onto the dance floor for a foxtrot. Thorin walked over to Kayla and Kili who were comparing the taste of two biscuits. He held his hand out to Kayla who looked up and grinned. She glanced at Kili who pushed her out onto the dance floor with her uncle, and laughed as he twirled her around. Bain walked over to Kili.

"He is one lucky man." Bain said.

"Aye. Go and steal her."

"No! That would be so rude."

"Trust me it will work." Kili said, dragging Bain to the side of the dance floor.

"I can't just..." Bain started but Kili pushed him into where Thorin and Kayla were dancing and Kayla tilted her head back at Bain and grinned, before twirling to join him. Thorin laughed to Bain's surprise and gave the lad a wink, so he felt more comfortable though he glared at Kili who snickered at him before he was yanked onto the dance floor by a hand. He stared at the face of his best friend and he danced with her - the song changed to a song they used to play at their bar all the time and they used to put on a show there and dance to it so they were on this dance floor with ease.

After a jazzy song there was a slow song and Kayla couldn't remember the last time she had slow - danced romantically with a boy. When she did though she thoroughly enjoyed it.

"You look gorgeous in that dress." Bain complemented.

"Never say that." Kayla muttered and Bain laughed, before twirling her around and she giggled herself.

Fili watched happily as his family waltzed around the dance floor. He was happy. His family had survived the battle, he didn't have to be king and he had a gorgeous girlfriend. What more could he ask for? He turned around when he saw a presence behind him. He sat down next to the red haired elf.

"I didn't think you would come."

"I didn't think I would be allowed but here I am." The elleth replied. She looked around the room for Kili.

"He's missed you, you know."

"I've missed him, but I assumed your uncle wouldn't allow me to come in here." She smiled as Kili walked up from the dance floor.

"Your girlfriend requests a rumba." Kili laughed, and Fili stood up and left the two to watch the scene.

"You made it."

"I did."

"Where have you been?" He turned to face her.

"I did say I was going back to Mirkwood with the injured, to help them get through everything." Tauriel said. "I'm not sorry, ok. It takes so much energy out of me to be sorry." She leant back. "I was sorry. To you and to my kin. I kissed you because I like you and I meant it, but Legolas was broken by it when I returned and he didn't tell the king, because he didn't want me banished again, but he wants us to not happen because I know he loves me and I don't want to betray my kin." Tauriel said sadly. "I didn't know if you kissed me that night because you felt hazy so I assumed you didn't like me really. So I'm not sorry to you or my kin." She finished.

Kili raised his eyebrows at her and saw sense in her words, but he didn't think other people's opinions should affect what they want. "Fine, I'm not sorry either. I'm not sorry that we kissed the other month. Or that when I was dying you stayed behind to heal me instead of helping your people, and it made me feel more alive than I have ever felt. It's betraying my people's trust too and the decision that I am about to make is going to prove to be a bad one against my uncle but i am not sorry that I am in love with you!" He said forcefully, and she looked up shocked in the realization that he did really like her, and she smiled and leant forward into the kiss. She would do anything to be with this dwarf, and she knew from now on their relationship could only go upwards.

Kayla smiled as she watched her brother and Tauriel kiss. She felt like this was the finale of a story, but she also had a feeling that there would be a lot more adventures with her and her brothers in the future and that made her grin. She looked up at the sound of her name and went onto the platform where her uncle was stood and he also called over her brothers.

"Are you ready?" He grinned, handing Kayla a keyboard, Kili a guitar and Fili some fiddles. The three of them started to sing. Their smooth voices echoed over the hall and everyone looked up in silence at their song. Fili sung harmonies in the background as Kili and Kayla broke into the chorus.

This isn't my kiss goodbye.

I say this because it's the truth.

I never said that I wouldn't leave you

I said I wouldn't stop loving you.

The song continued on and the audience of many dwarves smiled at them tearfully, and danced every time it got to the chorus, and swayed in the verses where it was slower. Eventually, at the end of the song, the spotlight faded off of her brothers and onto Kayla only who stood up from her keyboard, her red dress clear as day in the light and sung the last lines.

You know I'll come back

You know it's true

I'll never leave you

She stopped singing and looked up as the lights flicked back onto her brothers and the trio stood up and bowed, as the audience burst into applause. They bowed in synch and hugged each other tightly. Kayla wished this moment would never end.

Thorin and Dis clapped wildly as Fili, Kili and Kayla stood hugging tightly on the stage.

"Well brother, you did it. You have your homeland back. Finally!"

Thorin grinned at her and hugged her tightly.

"I would have done it a thousand times over if it means your children can be happy. When they're happy Dis, I'm happy. When they're happy, you're happy. Think about it. They're all we need."
