So this is basically…

By DJ Dib Dab

Welcome to my new series of stories about one of my favorite games out there. Town of Salem! Now these stories are going to be a bit different because it's not all just...stories. I'm going to write a guide about how each role works and how I typically play them. Then comes forth the story part. Where I'm going to write a chapter with each segment. The 'winners' of each chapter will correspond with what sort of role the chapter is about. Hope you enjoy it!

Note: if you do play Salem and think some of this is wrong don't be afraid to comment or PM. i mean, i'll probably ignore you but it's the effort that's important

Another note: each story will have the same 15 characters. When i run out of days to write about i'll just lottery them out again and start from scratch

Another ANOTHER note: if these stories get enough support ill write out a full story from each of the characters perspective

So this is basically...Forger

Choose a target at night to edit your forgery. You can deselect your target to keep it for another night, or change targets.

If a Janitor cleans your target, your forgery will not appear, since the Janitor hides their Cleaned targets' Last Wills.

If two Forgers select the same target, then the Forger who selected first will have their forged Last Will shown.

Your forgery will not reset, even if you forge successfully.

Your forgery will succeed as long as your target dies in any way.

If your target does not die or a Witch forces you to select a target which didn't die, you will lose a forgery.

If you forge successfully on someone, but did not write anything including no spaces, their Last Will is removed.

A spy or lookout can see your visits

Your forgery and last will are separate notes

The writing above is basically telling you that you are useless. Becoming a successful forger is something incredibly hard the further you progress during a game in my opinion. But at the start of the game, nobody is going to have any useful information. So just my luck that the first role I spin is forger isn't it? But enough about me. Im gonna do my best to get some sort of strategy gameplay out of this character so keep on reading for the DJ way to play forger!

Day 1:

The town had collapsed into chaos and Emily was loving each moment of it. Everyone in Salem Was treating it like the end of the world. Which, for them, it probably was. But there was one of those pathetic townies who had restored some order to the town. Matteas Dashner. He was the town's head law enforcement officer. But everyone just called him 'jailor'. When going through some records or something it was discovered that there was protocol for when exactly 15 people were left in this town after a series of murders. How convenient. So here she was now. Sitting in a rickety chair in a circular room. Eyeing the rope in front of her with caution.

"I now call the day to order." said Matteas in a low, grumbly voice. "To start things off I need you all to trust me, if I am ever going to be able to lead this town out of catastrophe. So i will say this now. I am the jailor. And I am willing to do whatever it takes to keep you all safe." A few claps emitted from the circle. And Emily joined in too. Trying her hardest not to laugh at his ridiculous statement. What an absolute joke! It's not like you're going to be alive much longer.

"If that's the case then i propose we have a bodyguard hired to protect our leader!" came a voice from a few seats next to Emily and she inwardly groaned. Mrs. AnnaBella Oxford was one of the few people in this crowd she wouldn't mind getting her hands dirty to kill. Her greying hair and patchy skin wasn't enough to make anybody trust her especially with her many shawls and too large glasses. However…

"So i propose this! I will leave a sufficient sum of money in this hall at 9:00 tonight. And in return he is to do his job and keep Matteas. Safe!" Emily risked a glance on the other side of the circle. To where her boss and trusted lover was sitting. Jack Jembrella was quite young. But his underground Rep took him to new heights. Eventually rising to become the godfather. Emily was quite happy to stay by his side. And if he wanted to collapse this town. Then collapse it we shall! But as of this moment they must play it safe. And with a short nod from the Godfather. She knew what to do

"Here Here! I wouldn't usually agree with Mrs. Oxford but the protection of Officer Dashner is important. However. No need to trouble yourself AnnaBella. The council would be happy enough to provide the funds." This brought another round of applause. Ever since the mayr had hidden himself in his office 13 years ago. It befalled upon his secretary to be the public face of the town's council. Emily had basically been running this town since she was 20. And that meant the mafia was running the town.

"Be that as it may, miss Rockston" drawled AnnaBella. Putting emphasis on the miss. Something not unnoticed by emily. "I think we would all feel safer if it was I. Who produced the funds. After all, who knows where you might get yours from"

A deathly silence took the group. You could hear a pin drop into a pile of bedsheets. 50 miles away

"What… are you trying to suggest. Mrs AnnaBella Oxford?" Said another voice. This one belonging to the face of Gordon Wiscon. A fellow member of the council. Though what it was that he did, Emily never knew. "What I am suggesting, dear gordon. Is that officials can sometimes go… down the wrong street. If you understand my saying" and once again chaos exploded in the room. Accusations flying from everyone. Mainly AnnaBella. And it became too much for her.

Emily started laughing. Slow at first but evolving into a full of laugh that echoed through the room. Not a psychotic laugh. But of once who is genuinely amused. My dear town." she said. Once she took control of herself again. "I apologise for that little outburst but it is very clear to me that Mrs. Oxford has clearly grown a bit...what's the word im looking for… Senile, these past few years. I assure you with absolute certainty that I have not, as she so wrongly quotes, 'going down the wrong street'. I am perfectly in the right street. The street of justice" the round of applause that greeted Emily was like music to her ears. She took a bow and looked at her watch.

"Oh heavens look at the time. Ever so sorry but i must be off. I was supposed to attend a meeting two minutes ago. If you please excuse me." with that. Emily stood up and rushed out of the meeting hall. Down a few corridors and into the ladies bathroom. Once inside she collapsed on the floor in a fit of giggles. Oh this was too perfect. It must be a dream! She had gotten as much trust as that town's leader in mere minutes. Too easy. Calming down a bit. She went to the sink and ran the tap. Lowering her head and submerging her face in the water. This was how she calmed down. How she thought. How she acted. The water provided her with momentary solitude. One where she could think. And she thought it was time to pay some dues to an old foe.

Day 1:

I hope you liked that extract. Because I sure as hell did.

Ok so in this extract i introduced Emily. The Forger. Her job is to be the face of the council while the mayor is trapped away. One of the biggest things you need to do when being a forger is get the town to trust you! Because you don't have much to prove your innocence by (save your ability) getting the town's trust is crucial. When investigated, you will show up as Lookout, Forger or Witch. So typically you would want to claim lookout right? BZZZZZT. you are just starting. Or are a ToS veteran (not in game) that still doesn't have a grip of forger yet, do not claim lookout. If you are an experienced player who can play forger like a boss. Skip to the next chapter. This one is for all the little hatchlings.

Anyway, back to my point. Claiming lookout is quite a dangerous move. After all. You might accidentally reveal one of your more important mafia members (not that you aren't important. Just less so). This is what makes Forger so damn difficult to pull off. This is why when playing forger. Claiming any other town investigative other than lookout is probably your best move. I personally like to choose investigator if paired up with anyone but a consigliere. Because someone calls you out as suspicious. Claiming that there is a framer in the game is quite useful. Because if you play your forgeries right. Nobody would ever think twice about there being a framer.

Well. since we are on the subject of forgeries i might as well get this over with.
In my personal opinion, forges are more useful against someone who has been quiet, against someone who is talking a lot. If you forge someone's will who has been posting daily and change even the slightest thing. And someone notices. This means trouble for you and the mafia. That's why i get the gf to go for the quieter ones more often than the talkative townies. 5/10 you're gonna catch a mayor or neutral. And if you get something like a vigilante or doctor. That's fine too. But just remember to leave it blank if you don't know their role. Even putting a space in will clue the town in on your shenanigans

But that's just me. And this is basically forger in a nutshell. Hope you enjoyed and hope you stick with me, my ever faithful readers.
