Tom woke up to the sound of his alarm clock, he begrudgingly got up and stumbled into the kitchen to find something to eat. Tom was a handsome enough man, at least he thought so, standing at about five foot five with messy brown hair, he rubbed the sleep out of his green eyes, but that did not help him wake up any faster. At least he did not have to worry about being late to work, he thought to himself, being a world-famous architect had its perks, like setting your own hours. The first thing he did was to set up the coffee maker, filling the machine with three cups of water, and putting two mints in the coffee pot, so that the mints would melt into the coffee the machine was brewing it.

"AAAAAAAAAA!" Tom jumped when he heard it, a woman's scream it sounded faint but not fare. Tom looked around, trying to find the source when he heard it again, from the bread cabinet of all places. Tom opened the cabinet, and he saw a rat the size of his fist, it rushed out and onto the floor the moment it spotted Tom. He started to go after it but stopped when he heard whimpering from the cabinet; upon investigation, Tom found something that made him go slack-jawed.

...

Mary was just settling into her new home; She was getting ready to go out borrowing, tying her long black hair into a bun so it would not get caught in anything. And she was putting her goggles on, keeping her blue eyes safe from anything that might be in the air. Making her way through the secret tunnels behind the walls, she did not have time to scout out the house before she moved in, but beggars can't be choosers. Her last home was burned down, as far as she knew she was the only borrower to survive it. She pushed those thoughts from her mind as she got to what she thinks is a cabinet; she knew she did not have much time, so she rushed to the crackers, and that is when she heard it.

"AAAAAAAAAA!" Mary screamed as it slashed her back, knocking her to the ground; she could feel her blood soaking her clothes. It was a rat; the biggest one Mary had ever seen, before Mary could get back up and run the rat lunged forth, chomping down on her leg. Mary's screams could not cover the sound of her leg bone crunching in the rat's maw, as she was about to accept her fate when the cabinet suddenly filled with light the rat ran the moment light touched it. Tears of pain clouded Mary's eyes, but she could still see the outline of a bean looming over her it's hand coming down towards her as she passed out not expecting to wake up.
