The beginning

It was a cool autumn day, there was a slight breeze running through the trees, littering the floor with crisp brown leaves. The air was clear, and the sun was just beginning to rise over the city, showering the rows of houses in a golden sea. The sky was a beautiful baby blue with streaks of velvet red and filled with big white fluffy clouds. Everything was silent except for a cluster of birds singing amongst the trees and the occasional car driving past on their to work. All the houses of Grimmauld place were still standing, silently sleeping in their rows. Number 11 had been up all night blasting music all around the town till early hours of the morning and there was even still people passed out on the lawn which was littered with plastic cups; the occupants of 13 were still away on their honeymoon so their house was as silent as a graveyard. However, in number 12 the eyes of a young boy had just flicked open, and his name was Sirius Black.

Suddenly he sat up, brushing his long black hair out of his face and began looking around his room. The floor was littered with dirty clothes and old magazines, but his eyes stopped dead once he found what he wanted. His calendar, it read September 1st. Finally! He had been waiting for this day to come for so long and finally it had arrived. He leapt of bed and wrapped himself in a long black robe and swiftly made his way downstairs into the kitchen. "Kreacher" he yelled "Kreacher where are you? you good for nothing ..." *pop*. A wrinkly old house elf with big bat like ears and a snout like nose had just appeared in front of him, startling him so he jumped back, smashing a vase on the floor ."You summoned Kreacher ,master Sirius?" the house elf said whilst putting away the mop and bucket he had been holding in a dusty little cupboard and repairing the vase with a clap of his bony hands. "I want breakfast" Sirius barked at the house elf "I want eggs on toast". The house elf began preparing the meal at once, summoning ingredients from the fridge and different cupboards all over the kitchen with a click of his fingers and within minutes there was a hot plate of eggs on toast and a cold glass of orange juice on the table. Sirius began eating in an instant and kreacher backed away into a corner and began to sweep.

Footsteps now could be heard all over the house, the rest of the Black family were now awake and making their way down to the dining room. Sirius' father, Orion, was the first to arrive, he was a tall man with broad shoulders, Sirius had clearly inherited his father's jet-black hair, but he had clearly not kept his as tidy as his farther. "Morning Sirius, got all your things packed away in your trunk? We will be leaving shortly." Orion said taking a seat at the table. Sirius nearly spat his orange juice across the table. His trunk! He had forgotten to finish packing his trunk. He shovelled down the remainder of his breakfast and ran back up to his room passing his mother on the stairs, leaving his father alone in the dining room "Strange child" he muttered as Sirius ran past him, snatching the morning prophet from Kreachers hands.

Why had he left it so last minute to pack his trunk? He was now running around his room, grabbing various things from different shelves and throwing them on top of the clothes that were already packed neatly in his trunk which was now becoming quite messy. Spell books, quills, parchment and bottles of ink littered the top of his trunk, preventing the lid from shutting. "Sirius? Come on what's taking you so long" Orion bellowed up the stairs. Struggling, he managed to sit on his trunk and lock it; pull on some muggle jeans and a grey jumper before dragging his trunk downstairs. He made his way to the hallway where his father was waiting with crossed arms and a stern look upon his face. He continued to pull his trunk over to the park across the road where his mother and brother was waiting for him. "Right I'll take the trunk Walburga and you hold on to the boys, I'll meet you there." Orion said to Sirius' mother grabbing the trunk from Sirius and with a crack both he and the trunk were gone. Sirius grabbed hold of his mother's arm and with another crack they were gone too. Leaving the corner of the path on Grimmauld Place empty once more.

Apperating was a strange feeling, it felt like he was being squeezed through a very tight tube, it was hard to breathe as when he tried it felt like there was no air around him, he couldn't move his arms but he could still feel his mother next to him. The strange sensation was over as quickly as it had begun and he felt his feet hit solid ground once more but now instead of being outside of the park at Grimmauld Place they were now standing in the middle of a very crowded train station. His father led the way through the crowds until they had made it halfway down the platform to a less crowded area. "Well good luck son" Orion said patting Sirius firmly on the shoulder "we shall see you when you come home for Christmas break" Sirius grabbed his trunk from his father and began to walk towards the train, but he felt a hand grasp his shoulder and spin him around. " And Sirius" it was his mother "make sure to say away from the filth that will walk your school corridors, and especially make sure you stay away from Severus Snape!" She had now turned red with fury and began muttering things under her breath. Struggling he dragged his heavy trunk into an empty compartment on the train and shoved it under his seat, he looked out the window to say his final goodbyes to his family but the spot where they were standing was empty. He slouched back into his seat.

Severus Snape. He couldn't think why his mother warned him to stay away, he had never met a Severus Snape in his life.

Just then the door to the compartment slide open. A tall boy with messy black hair and glasses was standing in the doorway. "Do you mind if I join you mate? Everywhere else is full." He said already closing the door behind him and taking a seat opposite Sirius. "I'm James by the way, James Potter" he stretched out an arm, Sirius shook it "I'm Sirius Black" Sirius replied as he leant in to shake his hand "do you wanna play some exploding snap?" Letting go of James' hand, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of playing cards. And with the sound of a whistle and the clickety-clack of the train rolling through the countryside, they were off on their way to Hogwarts, school for witchcraft and wizardry.
