Author's Note

This fanfic is a crossover or Rise of the Guardians, Frozen, and Tangled. I know, there are a ton of these out there... But I wanted to try writing one! Basically, what happens is that Jack Frost, a newly turned guardian, has been watching over Rapunzel since she was a child. The first part of this will center mostly around the two of them, but then, of course, problems will arise and Jack will have to leave. Eventually, he will find out about Elsa and her ice magic and turn up at her coronation, and finally meet Rapunzel again for the first time in years. Then there's going to be *ahem* problems. This takes place across a long period of time, from when Rapunzel was a kid to after Frozen 2, but I think I can write it in a way that won't conflict with any of the movies, including Frozen 2. I know that compared to this summary, what you're about to read just feels like a prologue, but it kinda is. This is my first fanfic, and I wasn't really sure how to set it up. If you made it all the way to the bottom of this note, thank you for sticking with me! If you like it or have any suggestions, please review!

*Please remember, I do not own the characters or the movies this was based on, and any resemblance to

real people or other fanfics is purely coincidental. Thank you, and enjoy the story*

One of the tasks of the Guardians is to keep an eye on all powerful magic in the world, as well as to protect children. The one thing was, they were not allowed to interfere with human affairs unless it posed a threat to children, like Pitch Black. So, when the sundrop fell to Earth they could do nothing except watch.

They watched as Mother Gothel found and hid the flower that had sprouted from the sundrop. They watched as the Queen of Corona got sick. They watched as the flower was found by the royal soldiers, hoping to heal their queen. Well, maybe Jack Frost, the newest guardian, had nudged the flower just a little to lead the soldiers to it. So, they watched as the flower was fed to the queen. They watched as the queen got better. When the baby princess was born, they decided to keep an eye on her to make sure the flower hadn't transferred any of its power. But, they weren't watching when someone broke into the palace. They didn't see the baby princess get stolen.

All five guardians were devastated, because it was their duty to protect children. That was when Jack Frost decided that, as he traveled the world bringing ice and snow, he would always be on the lookout for the lost princess or Corona.

Eight years later, North, the oldest and most powerful guardian, sensed powerful magic, more powerful than any he had felt in years. More powerful than even the sundrop flower. He called the guardians together, and they sent Jack to check it out.

When he reached Norway, he was surprised, for he could feel not one source to the magic but two. He had a sneaking suspicion this had to do with the flower, so first he went to Corona, because it was where the flower had come from. What he found there angered him to no end.

Now that he was aware of it, he followed the faint signals of the magic to a clearing in a forest. In the center of that clearing was a tall tower. The tower had no doors, and only a single window. As he could fly, it was no problem for him to get up to the window. As he stepped inside, he saw a young girl, about eight years old, sitting on a stool. An old woman wearing a hooded cloak was standing behind her, brushing the girl's blonde hair that barely touched the floor. The woman and the girl started to sing, and Jack gasped.

"Flower, gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine." The girl's hair was glowing. It started from the top, and spread down to the hair brushing the floor, filling the room with a warm glow. But what Jack saw after that almost made him fall out of the window. As the old woman reached up to push her hood back, Jack realised that she was young. Much much younger than she had been seconds before. It was at that moment that Jack realised what this was. This was the work of the Sundrop, the magical healing flower. Jack knew, without a doubt, that at last, he had found the lost princess.

He wanted to stay, but immediately flew back to the north pole. North, Bunny, Tooth, and Sandy all needed to know what was going on.

After he finished explaining the situation to the others, the guardians looked grave.

"Technically," North said, "The old woman isn't harming anyone with the magic. She did kidnap the child, but the girl didn't seem unhappy. The only two ways we are allowed to interfere in the human world, other than our personal jobs, is if a child is in danger or if magic puts the world in danger." He scratched his beard. "But, the girl's poor parents. The poor girl. The poor kingdom!" North paused, so Tooth continued.

"They have a festival for the lost princess every year, hoping she will return. She was kidnapped and trapped in a tower, for goodness sake! We can't just leave her there!" They turned to Bunny.

"I dunno, mate." He replied. "If she's happy, and no ones in danger, then I don't think there's anything we can do." Sandy flashed a bunch of angry signs above his head, so fast none of them could read or interpret them.

"We need to rescue her!" Jack argued. "We are the only ones in the world who know where she is!" They argued back and forth all of the evening, torn between their duties as guardians and what they believed was right.

"I know!" Said North eventually. "I can ask Manny." They all got quiet. Manny was the one who had made them all guardians. Manny, the Man in the Moon, sometimes helped them, but other times left them in the dark. Sometimes literally. Luckily, that night was a full moon.

At midnight, they all met in the main room of North's workshop. Just on time, moonlight started to filter down through the round window in the roof. North looked around, and they all nodded at him. He was the only one who could speak to Manny, so he would be the one to tell him.

"Manny," He started. "We would like to ask you what to do about Rapunzel." That was what the old woman had named the baby princess. After a plant. Jack shivered in hatred as North recounted the story to Manny. How could someone be so cold hearted as to kidnap a baby and lock her in a tower? As North finished, they fell into silence. It was the kind of silence you could feel, creeping upon you, and all you wanted to do -needed to do- was break it. Finally, North looked down.

"He says we can't save her." Jack gasped. He had thought Manny would want them to save her. They started talking, all at once, but North held up a hand. "But. He says we can keep an eye on her. Make sure she stays okay. He says that if she becomes incredibly unhappy, then we can interfere. But until then, nothing." The other guardians didn't agree, but had to accept this. They always listened to Manny, and besides, he was right. They weren't supposed to interfere with humans that much.

Long after they all dispersed, Jack stayed, staring up into the moonlight. What he wouldn't give to be able to give the stupid man in the moon a piece of his mind! Hours later, after the sun had risen and the moon had sunk, North walked in to find Jack still in North's workshop, staring up at the sky. North grunted, and lowered himself into a chair near Jack.

"Sit. I think we need to talk." Jack looked over, startled. He had not noticed North enter the room. With a sigh he sat down, laying his staff across his lap.

"I want to protect her. I want to save her! I can't think about anything other than that helpless little girl, with no idea who she really is or how many people care about her!" North nodded.

"Me too. So, I think you should watch her." Jack gaped at him.

"Watch her? What do you mean?"

"You could check up on her. Make sure she's safe," North explained. "Just remember, you can't reveal yourself to her." Jack was elated. He could at least reassure himself that she was safe. He thanked North, and immediately flew off to find the tower again, following the gentle tug of the little girl's magic. As he passed kingdom after kingdom, searching for Corona, he didn't spare a thought for the other gentle tug of magic. The one that had had him headed toward Corona in the first place. The one the guardians had forgotten about in all the excitement over finding the lost princess. The one that came from a small kingdom called Arendelle.

Again, in case you didn't read the note at the top, this is my first fanfic and I would love if you could review! If you thought it was good, tell me! If you thought it was bad, then, also tell me! I want to be able to improve this. Do you think it should be longer? Do I have any grammar/spelling issues? Thank you so much for reading this all the way to the bottom! If people like it, I'll try to update soon!
