Edd's first REAL Date

Chapter 1: The Experiment

It was a warm, summer evening in the cul-de-sac of Peach Creek. The sky was clear, the weather was warm and the evening was young. It was Saturday night and many people were either out of the house, enjoying themselves, some in the company of a companion for the evening.

One of them is a young, 16 year old boy was doing something unusual.

He was getting ready for a date with a girl.

Sure, on paper, that might not sound unusual, given his age and all, but it is unusual, given whom this particular young man is, and whom his date for the evening is going to be.

This young man is Eddward Marion Smith, the smartest guy at Peach Creek High school and the brainiest of the not-so-famous Ed trio.

'Okay, a little more...'He said as he did his tie, trying to ignore how nervous he feels right now.

Tonight, he is going on his first date and...to make a long story short, he is a nervous wreck and his best friend Eddy McGee, isn't helping much.

"I still can't believe that you are going through with this!..."Eddy shouted for the millionth time that week.

"Eddy, please. I am nervous enough as it is!..."Double D said.

"And you should be! I mean, come on! It's a date with a lousy KANKER for crying out loud! And you are doing this WILLINGLY!..."Eddy yelled.

Edd sighed.

His date for this evening is none other than Marie Kanker, his not-so-secret admirer and would-be-girlfriend since he was 12 years old.

Tonight, he has a date with her and no, she didn't blackmail him, threaten him or brainwashed him to do this. To be honest, he isn't totally sure why he is doing this either but, for a while now, he hasn't felt that fear he used to feel around Marie when he was a pre-teen.

Ever since High school started and he began to go through puberty, his fear around her gradually began to lessen over the years, and as she got older and more...amorous.

Even now, he still didn't understand it but after the last time Marie and her sisters had caught him and his friends for another of their insatiable make out sessions, he didn't feel afraid...awkward, embarrass, intimidated, yes but not afraid.

He was confused, so he decided to do a bit of an emotional experiment where...he asked her out on a date and Marie was actually stun by this development.

He then risked it and told her what he was feeling and proposed to make a social experiment of sorts where he would undergo a real date with her, just to see if what he is feeling is genuine and not a result of trauma or temporary insanity.

To his surprise, Marie seemed overjoy at the prospect and was willing to go through with this "experiment", but Edd only requested that she not kiss him like she always does. He explained that he is willing to take her out to dinner and do things on their date, so long as she tones down being amorous.

To his surprise, she agreed...but he is still wary if she means it.

Either way, it's too late to back down now.

His date is in one hour and he is still getting ready.

"Double D, does this mean that you are Marie's boyfriend for real?..."Ed asked clueless and Edd sighed.

"No Edd, I already explained that this is an experiment..."Edd said.

"Yeah and I'm Elvis!..."Eddy said sarcastically.

"This is just gonna turn out like that reverse-psychology thing. You are gonna be all alone with Marie and she's gonna turn on you the second she gets the chance..."Eddy said.

"Eddy, please! It's too late to back down now! I am taking Marie out tonight and I am giving her the benefit of the doubt. She promised that she would behave herself...'Edd said.

"And since when do those lousy Kanker's EVER keep their promises?!...'Eddy spat.

"Just hear this, if Marie does any of her old tricks, me and Ed aren't coming to save you..."Eddy warned and Edd sighed.

Ever since they encountered his older brother at Mondo-A-Gogo, their friendship had improved tremendously but Eddy still has a temper on him and he can still be pretty stubborn.

Now is just one of those times.

"Understood, now can either of you assist me in selecting a cologne, nothing strong..."Double D said, proving that he is serious about this.

Though, unknown to Eddy, the brainy boy was feeling nervous.

"Oh lord, I do so hope that Eddy will be wrong..."Double D said, before he braved forward and continued to get ready for him...experiment.

Meanwhile

At the Park N Flush Trailer Park

A certain young lady was still in preparations as well, dolling herself and wanting to be beautiful for tonight.

"OH GEEZ, WHERE ARE THE BREATH MINTS!?..."She shouted impatiently as she tried to look for said item, as they are important for tonight.

"Oh can it, Marie, they are in the fridge..."Her sister shouted and the girl ran to grab them and put them in her purse.

It is 16 year old Marie Rose Kanker, who was busy getting ready for what she considers to be the most important night of her young life.

Her first date with Double D, the love of her life!

"Got'em...'She said with a grin, before she went back to go working on her hair, as she was still getting it out of her curlers. Once done, she began working on her make up.

"Girls, come on. I need some help..."Marie said.

"Okay, Marie..."May said as she started helping her sister, while Lee just looked with her arms crossed, feeling jealous.

"May, knock it off. She managed to get a DATE on her own, she can do her make up on her own..."Lee said, barely hiding her jealousy.

Marie heard this and rolled her eyes.

"You're just jealous..."Marie said and dodged Lee throwing a pillow at her.

"Watch it, tonight is important and I can't afford a black eye..."Marie said.

"Do I have to remind you that me and Edd are going out?..."Marie said.

"I know, you told us a million times..."Lee said, still upset.

Sure, she is happy for her sister that she got a date with her dream guy, but Lee can't stand the fact that she's the one going on a date tonight, all the while, Eddy is STILL running away from her.

May continued to help Marie with her make up, until she was done.

"Done, you look just like one of those high fashion whats-it..."May said as she showed her a mirror.

Marie was her reflection and smiled widely.

"Thanks May..."Marie said, meaning it.

"No problem...so, you are Edd are going official now?...'May asked.

"Kind of...he says that tonight is like an experiment, he wants to see if he can really come to like me, so that's why I need tonight to go perfect..."Marie said.

"So what? Either way, he is still yours, whether he likes it or not..."Lee said and Marie rolled her eyes.

"Lee, I am serious. This is a golden opportunity and I am sick of tired that the boys keep running from us. Sure, that might have been funny when we were kids but I am sixteen now and I got needs. This is my one chance to get Double D to go out with me willingly and I gotta show him how great it would be if he accepts me as his girlfriend. I am not passing it up!..."Marie said as she began to splash on her perfume.

Once done, Marie checked her make up again.

"You guys don't think I am being too heavy on the make up, do you?..."Marie asked and May shook her head.

"No, you look really pretty, Marie..."May said in her dopey, but sweet voice.

"Yeah..."Lee muttered.

Marie smiled.

"So, where is Edd taking you again?..."May asked.

"Oh, he mentioned something about dinner and a movie...isn't that romantic?..."Marie said with a dreamy sigh and May smiled wider.

"Aw..."May said in a gushy kind of way.

"Yeah..."Marie said in a dreamy voice, before she felt her stomach in twists.

Was it possible to feel so excited and yet so nervous?

"Tonight is my one chance. Don't blow it Marie. Show Double D that you are the only women he'd ever want..."She thought to herself in determination, only to snap out of it when May started talking again.

"Hey, do you think if this works, you can get Double D to get Big Ed to go serious with me?..."May asked.

"I'll see what I can do, but for now, I gotta a man to impress..."Marie said as she pulled out her red lipstick.

Sure, Double D asked her to tone down on...being amorous as he said, but even so, she won't object if he changes his mind.

The blue haired Kanker continued to get ready for her first REAL date with Edd.

Oh boy...

Later

Double D soon arrived to the infamous Park N Flush trailer park. He was wearing his Sunday best and his favorite tie, and as always, his iconic hat. He is also carrying a bouquet of roses in his hands, as he felt it was appropriate for this situation.

He soon arrived to the front of the Kanker's trailers and he glanced at his watch. It is only 5:59pm.

He is suppose to pick up Marie at six and he was always a punctual person.

He would have knocked but he stopped when he saw the trailers and suddenly memories came to him of the day he first met Marie and her sisters with his friends...and many other things that, at the time, made him quiver in fear whenever he thought of them but now...just made him blush.

As he arrived, he was still mentally rehearing how he was going to greet Marie.

"Good evening Ms. Kanker, you look lovely this evening..Shall we be off?...'Edd thought, before shaking his head.

"No...That is much too formal..."He muttered, trying to think of a better way to introduce himself to his fate...I mean, date.

"Hello Marie...my, you look lovely..."Edd thought, doing something he never thought would have been possible just last year alone.

Make a big fuss over Marie "I am going to marry you whether you like it or not" Kanker.

"I...I really am doing this...aren't I?..."Edd thought as he glanced at his watch as it struck six.

He still has a chance to run for it, back out and forget this whole thing ever happened but he shook his head.

No, he has made it this far...he has to follow through and even so...he can't bring himself to do something like standing a girl up, even if that girl is Marie.

After 30 seconds after his watch struck 6, he gathered all of his nerves and knocked on the door.

Five seconds later, the door opened and revealed his date for this evening, Marie Kanker.

"Oh...oh my..."Edd thought as he eyed her.

Since high school started, Marie grew out her hair a bit, and it reached down pass her shoulders and it was currently fluffed and styled neatly, even having a little flower in it as an accessory. She is also wearing a short black dress, a red jacket over it with matching heels and he also saw her wearing make up, blue eye shadow, red lipstick, blush but unlike the mess she used to smear on her face as a kid, this was done neatly.

He knew that Marie has blossom over the years but right now, this is the first time in his life that he actually thought that she looks...pretty.

Very pretty.

Edd found himself gulping, as his cheeks became tinged at pink as Marie saw him and smiled flirtatiously.

"Hi, Double D...you are right now time..."Marie said in a flirtatious voice and Edd was beginning to sweat nervously.

"Oh dear...perhaps I didn't think this through..."He thought, before he snapped out of it, realizing that he is staring right now.

"Oh..um...g-good ev-evening Marie...y-you look lovely..."Edd said and Marie smirked.

"You're pretty easy on the eyes yourself, oven mitt..."Marie said with a smile.

Hey, she promised that she wouldn't jump him, but she didn't promise that she wouldn't flirt.

'"Uh...um...thank you..."Double D said as he recalled the flowers in his hands.

"Uh...these...these are for you..."Double D said nervously and he watch Marie's eyes light up as she grabbed the flowers.

"Flowers...how sweet...and you got me roses, how did you know they were my favorite?..."Marie asked.

"Oh, well...I didn't but I thought they looked nice..."Edd confessed and Marie giggled.

Mare quickly put her flowers in a vase, then walked out with her purse, before grabbing him by the arm.

"So, Stud-Muffin, ready for our date?..."Marie asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be...'Edd thought, before nodding.

The two soon left for their date and Edd didn't know that Marie's sisters had been watching the entire thing, one jealous and the other smiling.

"Why can't Eddy bring me roses?..."Lee muttered.

"I think it's sweet..."May said with a smile.

"Come on, let's follow them..."Lee said.

"Why?...'May asked.

"Duh, this is our sister's first date with her man...we gotta make sure it goes right...'Lee said, like it is obvious.

May blinked, before nodding and following her older sister as they went to go spy on the two unofficial lovebirds.

Marie and Edd soon walked arm-in-arm together until they made it to Edd's father's car, which his father had allow him to use it for tonight.

"Ooh...nice wheels..."Marie said, impressed.

"Thank you but, actually, this is my father's car...I am still saving up to buy my own..."Double D explain.

"Still cool..."Marie said.

Double D then open the door for her, believing that it's the gentleman thing to do.

"Aw, such a gentleman..."Marie said, trying to keep her hormones under control.

She wants to kiss him but she can't risk it. She doesn't want to risk scaring him away again.

"Get a grip Marie. The date is just barely starting...just control yourself...kissing will come in time..."Marie thought as she entered the car.

Edd entered the drivers seat, adjusted the mirrors and tried to prepare to drive. Mare saw these antics, of being overly cautious and perfectionist and she smiled.

"He's so cute..."She thought in fondness as she just smiled at him as he pulled out of the lane and was soon driving on the street.

To the destination for their date.

Unknown to them, two pairs of eyes had watch them. One glaring and the other confused.

They are Ed and Eddy.

"Come on Lumpy..."Eddy said.

"But Eddy, why are we spying on Double D's date?.." Ed asked.

"Because Mono-brow, Double D is going to regret this the second that Kanker gets him alone and we got to bail him out before her sisters show up to join in...'Eddy said.

"But you said-

"Forget what I said, listen to what I am saying now, come on..."Eddy ordered and Ed, being a follower, obeyed.

The two remaining Ed's were going to go spy on their friend and the two remaining Kanker sisters were going to go spy on their sister.

Yeah, THAT doesn't sound like a disaster in the making.

Oh boy.
