"Hey" came the soft voice on the other side of the phone "I need a favour"

Olivia let out a breath, running her hand through her unruly hair "Hey Alex, what is it that you need?"

Alex scratched the back of her neck nervously, unaware of how to approach the situation or bring it across to her best friend since university. She bit her lip, this was something that she never thought she would have to do but she had no other choice. She was stuck and she needed help to get out of it, her best option was to ask the most compassionate person she knew.

Her choices were simple, either she stayed with her patient and missed the reservation her boyfriend made for them, for their fifth anniversary, or she got someone to keep an eye on him for the last two hours of her shift just for the evening. The latter was the better option for her, but it would be throwing someone else out of their schedules. She just hoped that Olivia had no plans for the evening and could spare two hours until the night nurse came to take over. However she knew if Olivia could not make it, she would have no choice but to stay and stand her boyfriend up.

Olivia cleared her throat "Alex, are you still there?"

Alex nodded, snapping back to reality "yes, sorry I spaced out a bit."

"It's no problem" she cleared some of the files from her desk, getting ready to take them home with her "so what was it that you wanted to ask me?"

"uh" she cleared her throat "I know this might be a lot for me to ask of you, and you don't need to say yes. I just wanna run it by you real quick, but if you are unable to do it, I would totally get that. I mean you have Noah at home and your sitter probably needs to be releaved so I won't mind you saying no, but I just have to ask, because I'm at a crossroads here and I-"

"Alex!" she cut off her rambling friend, a small smile on her lips "breathe, and tell me what it is, then I will let you know if I can do it or not. Okay?"

She nodded "okay, I'm sorry." she took a breath "wow I ramble a lot when I'm nervous"

"You're going off track again babe, what is it that you need?" she said with a laugh.

Alex chuckled "sorry, I was wondering if you would be able to keep an eye on one of my patients, just for two hours? He is a paraplegic and isn't really ill or anything, he just can't walk and needs assistance with a few things. His night nurse should be here around seven, which would then give you a release. I just need to be somewhere tonight, I can't trust anybody else with this because he is a bit cranky."

Olivia swallowed the lump that suddenly arose in her throat and pursed her lips "I might have to send Lucy a text first to ask her to stay with Noah for another two hours. What would I have to do for him?"

She shrugged, sitting down on one of the bar stools in the massive kitchen, she stirred her coffee and sighed softly "you would have to keep an eye on him, keep him company and help him lay down if he feels inclined to do so. I'll show you the ropes before I leave but it's not much that has to be done, and I have spoken to my patient and he is okay with you coming by if you do agree."

Olivia nodded "okay, I'll do it." she smirked "I just need to call Lucy, but I will send you a text of whether she is able to stay or not."

Alex let out a breath that she didn't know she was holding "thank you Liv, I owe you big time for this."

She chuckled, brushing Alex's comment off "Al it's only two hours, you don't owe me anything. We've been friends for years, and I know you would do the same for me so I don't mind."

"Thank you, thank you" she let out a happy laugh "you are a life saver, I need to get dinner prepared so I have to go, but let me know what Lucy says."

"Will do, bye" she chuckled at her friend's excitement.

Alex nodded "bye Liv, and thanks again for this."

Olivia listened as she hung up and quickly dialed Lucy's number, she answered after two rings "Hey Lucy."

Lucy smiled and quickly handed the three year old his pacifier "hey Liv, how is your day going so far?"

She began clearing up the files on her desk and put Lucy on speaker "It's been busy, I am actually surprised that I could squeeze in some time to call you... That is actually the reason for the call, do you have plans or anything for tonight? Because I need to be here for atleast two extra hours, would you be able to stay with Noah?"

Lucy picked the little boy up and carried him to the livingroom "I don't have anything planned so I won't mind staying. Noah has been very good today"

Olivia smiled at the mention of her boy "thank you so much Lucy, is he awake?"

She nodded, putting the phone on speaker so that Noah could hear his mother's voice "yes he is." she smirked "Noah, momma is on the phone, say hi"

A massive smile spread on the toddlers face at the mention of his mother, he removed his pacifier and let out a happy squeal "mamma"

Olivia felt her heart melt at just the sound of his little voice, she missed him so much and now she hated herself for agreeing to look after Alex's patient, but she wouldn't bail on her now. So she simply took hold of the picture of him that rested on her desk and smiled "hey baby boy. Have you been good for Lucy?"

He nodded "yes mamma, I miss you"

She bit her lip "I miss you too sweet boy, momma will be home in the next two hours. So you have to behave for Lucy while I'm not there, okay?"

"Okay." he giggled "momma be home soon?"

She shook her head "not right now baby, I have to stay a bit late. I love you"

"I love you too momma" he said before popping his pacifier back into his mouth and running off to play with his toys.

Lucy let out a laugh and shook her head at the little boy "Noah be careful."

Olivia sighed, her heart yerning to be with her son, she ran her hand through her hair "Lucy I have to go, I'll see you later."

"Yeah no problem. Enjoy work and don't stress too much."

"I will try my best, bye"

She said her greetings before hanging up, leaving Olivia to finish up whatever it was she still had to do. Olivia cleared her desk and grabbed her coat, she took her files that she needed to finish working on and turned off the lights before heading out of her office.

She gave her squad members a smile "guys I have to be somewhere so I am going to leave now. Call me if we catch a case or if anything comes up with our current case."

Fin nodded "sure thing Liv."

Amanda handed Olivia a case file "you need to read over this when you have free time, it's the last witness statement that I took earlier and also some other notes on what we know so far."

She took the file and nodded "okay I will read over it as soon as I get home." she turned to the other male detectives and pursed her lips "Carisi could you and Rollins go to check up on Mavis in hospital, find out if she remembers anything else and get her statement if she does."

Carisi nodded "sure thing Sarge"

Amaro walked over to her "Munch and I have are going to visit Leigh-Anne to see if her boyfriend came by yet, is that okay?"

"Yes that is perfect, keep me updated." she turned to Fin "you and Munch are in charge while I'm gone, and I need you and Cassidy to go to the bar and see if anybody saw Hazel or Mavis meeting up with our guy."

Fin nodded "Will do."

Brian walked over to Olivia and gave her a small smile "you said you have somewhere to be so go, we will handle everything and keep you posted."

She shot him a smirk "don't be a smart ass Cassidy."

He chuckled "if I don't put you out, you are going to keep talking and get stressed and then decide to stay."

"Whatever" she rolled her eyes playfully, "bye guys."

"Bye Liv" they greeted, all busy getting ready to do the various tasks they had to do in order to solve their case.

Olivia walked out of the precinct and made her way to her car, she took hold of her phone and sent Alex a text message, asking for the address which she had to meet Alex at. She received the response after a minute or two and quickly started her engine, driving to the foreign address her friend had sent.

Alex smiled widely as she opened the door to her best friend and pulled her in for a hug "thank you so much for this Liv"

Olivia chuckled and hugged her friend back "It's no problem"

Alex let her friend go and led her into the massive house, stopping in the livingroom "so Trevor is in his bedroom, he is reading right now, because he loves books." she led her to the kitchen "I made some mac and cheese, he needs to eat some before six thirty and take these pills after eating"

Olivia watched and listened carefully as Alex explained each of the pills to her and what they were needed for, as well as what his dosage was. She was surprised to hear that she would have to assist him in the bathroom and Alex quickly explained how the process goes. After twenty minutes Olivia was certain that she had all everything all mapped out, she knew what she needed to do and she knew to give Trevor his space.

Alex nodded toward the bedroom before knocking softly "Hey Trevor, can I come in?"

He sighed "sure"

She walked into the room with Olivia trailing behind her "so this is my friend Olivia that I told you about, she will be here with you until Paul gets here. I have informed him of her being here."

Trevor did a once over of Olivia and nodded "hi"

She gave him a small smile "hi, it's lovely to meet you Trevor."

He scoffed softly "I'm not too sure that is true."

Alex led Olivia out of the room and let out a breath "he can be a bit harsh at first, but he is a great guy once you get to know him."

Olivia nodded "I can handle it" she smirked "don't you have to leave?"

She nodded "yeah, thank you again. I have to go. Trevor I'm leaving" she hollered before grabbing her bag and leaving the home.

Olivia dropped her things onto the sofa and hung her coat on the coat rack before slipping her phone into her back pocket and making her way to his bedroom. She knocked gently before popping her head into the room "hey, do you need anything?"

He shook his head "no I don't. I'm not completely useless you know, I can still use my arms so I should be okay."

She nodded "okay... Just call me if you need anything, I will be finishing up a bit of paperwork that I need to get done."

"whatever" he quipped before pressing a button on his chair and turning away from her.

She pursed her lips, deciding to leave him be for now. She prepared herself a cup of coffee and settled down with her paperwork. She got a good amount of work done before reaching for her phone and seeing that Alex had sent her a text.

Alex: What are your thoughts on Trevor?

Olivia pursed her lips and thought about it for a second, he was quiet and kept to himself, but she had to admit that he was brilliant to look at. He had a bit of scruff on his face and the most gorgeous blue eyes she had seen, his body was in good shape and she was certain that he had to be sporty before ending up in his chair. She bit her lip as she typed her response to her friend, knowing that Alex wanted to know if they had hit it off.

Olivia: he is good to look at, we haven't spoken much though. He has been reading since you left, but I am going to dish up some of that Mac and Cheese and try to spark up a conversation. Any tips?

She stood to her feet and walked over to his room once again, tapping softly on the door.

He turned to her and raised a brow "do you need something Olivia?"

Her name rolled off his tongue like velvet and she took a breath at the sound of it "Alex said that you needed to eat before six thirty so that you can take your meds... She made some Mac and cheese, I'm going to dish both of us a serving. Join me in the kitchen?" she offered.

He rolled his eyes "fine."

Olivia let out a breath of relief before leading the way to the kitchen, she gave him a small smile before reaching for two plates. She began dishing their meals before turning to face him, catching him eye her, she decided not to comment on it. She gave him a small smile "so you will need to tell me how much you eat."

He let out a breath "I'll tell you when to stop."

She nodded "so how are you feeling?"

"I don't know, I have limited feeling." he quipped with a scowl.

She flinched at his tone and wanted to kick herself, how could she ask a man in a wheelchair about feeling. She gave him an apologetic smile "I'm sorry, I didn't think that through..."

He didn't bother to respond, instead he moved toward one of the lower counters and got out two cups "are you having coffee?"

She felt kind of awkward around him, she didn't know what to say, he was so distant and she was extremely intregued. She nodded, moving both of their meals to the little dinner table.

He set the two cups out and let out a sigh when she took hold of the cups, she gave him a small smile "how do you take your coffee?"

"Two sugars, no milk" he responded, not looking at her.

She made their coffee in silence and set it down beside his plate, she watched as he took his fork and began eating silently. Her eyes took in his features and she wondered, what happened to him, how did he end up in this situation, why was he so angry and cold. She wanted to know more about him and she knew he would not let her in, she was a stranger to him after all.

"Have you never seen a paraplegic eat before?" he snapped, feeling her eyes burning into his skin.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare... I was just wondering, how did you end up in the wheelchair?" she asked as gently as she could.

He scowled up at her before scoffing "That's none of your business."

She nodded "that's fair. I'm practically a stranger to you."

"Why did you agree to this?" he quipped, a angry glare etched onto his face.

"Because Alex needed someone to keep you company, she's my best friend, I am only doing this for her." she scowled.

He scoffed "then why are you trying to start up a conversation with me as if you want to get to know me? You don't need to try and befriend me, you're here because of Alex, so just do the job and leave me alone thereafter."

Olivia scoffed and shook her head "Are you always like this?"

"Yes. That's why I suggest you rethink taking over for Alex again."

She took a deep breath to calm herself down, he was pissing her off. He was such an angry asshole and he was taking all his crap out on her, but she knew not to say anything because she would never see him again. This was a once off thing she was doing for her friend, and when his night nurse came by she would go home and be with her little boy. A small smile tugged at her lips at the thought of her son and it did not go unnoticed by Trevor.

The rest of their dinner went by without further attempts at conversion, Olivia had decided to leave him be and just get the two hours over with, and Trevor had taken the medication she gave him before retreating to his bedroom. Leaving her to her own devices, she let out a heavy breath before loading up the dishwasher and going to the living room to finish up the last bits of her work.

She just about finished when she heard someone clear their throats, she looked up at Trevor and furrowed her eyebrows "do you need anything?"

He swallowed loudly, seeming pissed that he had to ask her help "yes. I have to use the bathroom. Will you help me, please?"

She nodded, getting up from her seat "of course."

He was embarrassed and hated that he had to ask this of her, he groaned as she helped him. Once he finished they returned to the living room and his head hung "thank you for helping me, and I'm sorry that I had to ask."

She gave him a confused look "you don't need to apologise, I don't mind helping you, I knew that I might have to help you when I agreed to come by. You don't need to apologise, it's not like you had a choice."

He sighed "tell me about it."

She placed her hand on his arm and gave him a small smile "for what it worth, I prefer you asking me for help over you ignoring my presence."

A small smile tugged at his lips "I'm sorry about that, I just don't interact with people that I won't see again. I don't like getting attached to people who aren't permanent fixtures in my life"

She sat back and smirked "I can relate to that."

"Then you understand why I preferred not to speak to you?" he asked, his voice softer than before.

She bit her lip "yeah."

So this is the first chapter done and dusted.

I trust that you all enjoyed this little sneak peak to how Olivia and Trevor met and how everything comes about.

This is based of the movie "Me Before You" but I put my own little twist on it. We won't be following the movie completely however the main idea came from there.
