Laxus stared intently at the new member of the guild, as he felt his lightning sing though his veins, It couldn't be right? But she looked similar, He watched as she dodged a chair, she cheeks puffed out as she scolded the blame brain that went with it.
"You know man if you stare any harder, she may combust." Bickslow joked as he clapped the dragon slayer on the back, and sitting next to him, causing him to lose some of the beer in his mug.
He scowled, and huffed, "What are you on about?"
The helmet-wearing mage nodded in the direction of the cute blonde, "The new girl, you've been eyeing her since Natsu brought her in. Is she a crazy ex or something? When you saw her you paled like you've just seen a ghost or something."
Laxus snorted, as he shot back the contents of his mug, before slamming it down and standing. "You're seeing things, I don't know blondie, and I don't wanna know her." He stalked over to the S-class board and grabbed the first thing he saw before shoving it into Bickslow's chest almost knocking the man out of his chair from the force. "Now go tell Mira was taking this one, I'll go and collect the others."
Bickslow watch as his friend when out the back door of the guild, which was until now, he didn't even know existed.
He looked from the quest, to the door, then to his just as confused, totems.
"What the hell just happened?" He question out aloud, his babies copying him.
He flipped the quest over to see what Laxus even chose, before snorting back a laugh.
It was a quest for a team to guard a diplomat, to his destination. Well, this wasn't going to end well, Laxus was never one to be talked down to, Freed had issues with the upper-class, and Ever was know to knock the pig-headed men down a peg or two. He's lost count of how many times the woman has made a man cry.
The Seith Mage had a brief thought of grabbing another job instead to save his team the headache. But then he remembered that it would be hilarious, for him at least, and went to do as he was told. Walking down the stairs and dodging when he needed to he soon made it to his destination.
Once he was at the bar he slammed the paper onto it his tongue already out in his signature smile.
"Yo Mira, babe!"
The white-haired barmaid turned to him, a questioning look on her face. But soon cleared once she noticed the paper on the bar.
"Oh, are you taking a job?" She asked
"The team is, but yeah."
"Doesn't Laxus usually pick the jobs?" she asked as she picked the paper up to read over it her eyebrow raised that the details of the job.
Bickslow barked out a laugh, "He did. Though he didn't look at it."
She waved the paper in the air, "So why didn't you choose a different one? You know how the other feels about these types of missions."
If possible his grin seemed to widen even more, "Consider it a learning lesson for Laxus, look at what you're doing, or face the consequences."
Mira giggled a little as she thought of the blowout Laxus was sure to have. "I'll be back in a few moments then. I just have to inform the client."
Bickslow placed his chin in his palm with his elbow resting on the bar as he watched her go. If his gaze was lower than it should be, well that was his business wasn't it.
The lovely view was soon gone as the beautiful woman went to the backroom. With a yawn, he turned so he was facing the room. Able to people watch, and looked for descant teasing or gossiping material for later.
He was brought out of his watch when someone elbowed his arm, he blinked and turned to see wide, soft brown eyes looking up at him.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry I didn't mean to bump you." The newbie said as she flailed her hands around him, but not actually touching him.
Bicklsow snorted, "No harm done, Chick-a-dee."
He watched amused as she seemed to blink at the nickname, before she shook her head, and held out her hand. "Hello, I'm Lucy!" She introduced with a wide, and bright grin.
Bickslow almost felt like squinting his eyes her smile was so bright, before glancing at her hand.
Lucy waited patiently for him to take it, and he was about to say something so he wouldn't have to when one of his babies popped up in front of her face real close. He flinch waiting for the shriek, and cry of being startled, then the exclamation about his babies being creepy.
Just as he expected, the girl did squeal, but the rest that she did? Now that was new for him.
He watch as after the loud noise she made. She seemed to become even brighter, like how? Honestly.
She held her hands out and held them under Pappa, who softly placed its wooden body into them.
"How cute!" Lucy cooed as she brought the little totem closer to her to see the details better. "Oh, this is hand carved right? It is really well done."
Bickslow watched wide-eyed as his other babies floated around the girl hoping for praise, and she did.
Was he having a stroke of some sort?
"Did you hear me?" He blinked and shook his head, as he focused on her again, "Huh?"
She giggled at him, giggled! He didn't even do anything giggle-worthy.
"I asked what your name was, I'm also very interested in you magic."
"Ah, It's Bickslow."
Before he could say more Mira join them, "Hey I contact- Am I interrupting something?" She asked as he looked between the two, noting the totems that were flocking around Lucy, and the girl didn't seem to mind.
"Oh." she gasped.
Bicks paled as he watched dreamy smile flit across the ex-demon's face. He stood quickly after gabbing the paper out of her hands, "THANKMIRAIGOTTTAGO!" He shouted.
He was about to rush off when he noticed the slightly sad look on Lucy's face, "You're leaving already?"
He rubbed at the back of his head his eyes occasionally glancing over to the obviously eavesdropping barmaid.
"Erm, yeah, my team and I were just about to head off to a job."
He watched her face fall more when he got a brilliantly wicked idea.
"Why don't you come with us?" He asks, as he ignored the way Mira seemed to squirm as she watched them intently.
she looked at him confused, "Huh? Go with you? Shouldn't you ask you, team, before bringing someone you don't really know onto a job?"
He grinned wildly at her. "It'll be fine! After all you get to meet some new people, and plus I can tell ya about my magic."
Lucy thought about the offer, she was curious.
"I'll have to let Natsu know I'm going."
Bickslow wasn't sure why she needed to tell the fire-starter anything, but if it got her to come along fine with him. He couldn't wait for his friend's reaction to the blonde.
"Sure."
He followed her over to where Natsu was grappling with Grey. who was only in his boxers, and even those looked to be slipping down, it was only a matter of time before those too were lost somewhere.
"Natsu." Lucy started, and the pink-haired boy looked over to her, but when he noticed Bickslow his black eyes narrowed. He let go of Grey who face-planted into the floor from where he was pushing at the dragon slayer.
He grinned at Lucy as happy landed on his shoulder also eyeing the tall mand because her.
"Hey ya Luigi, Watcha doing with Bickslow?" He question.
The mentioned man watched on in interest as Natsu seemed to be tense, and looked ready to strike, how interesting, after didn't they just meet?
Lucy narrowed her eyes at them and puffed out her cheeks in irritation, "I told you now to call me that!" She cried with a stop of her foot.
Natsu flashed her a fanged grin, as he laughed, "I know, but it's funny!"
"Aye! Lushi get so mad!" Happy giggled behind his paw.
Lucy crossed her arms and turned her head, "And here I was being considerate, and tell you I was heading out!"
Natsu's happy face was gone, and he frowned his eyes shifting to Bickslow, before going back to the blonde, "Out? Are you headed home?"
"No, Bickslow offered to go on a job with his team."
Natsu blinked at that, "Why?"
"Why not? Just wanna get to know the new girl is all. Ya know, a new family member and all that jazz." Bickslow said as his babies copied the word family.
Natsu's frown deeper, "But we haven't even gone on a job yet."
Lucy looked a little guilty at that, "I know, but I promise when I get back we can go on any job you want!"
Natsu seemed to be thinking over the offer, before his grin was back, "Fine, but you should go. Wouldn't want to be late for your first job as a Fairy Tail mage!"
Lucy smiled brightly at him and turned headed for the front of the guild. Before Bickslow could turn to follow after, he felt a warm hand on his arm keeping him in place. He turned to see a slightly glaring Natsu. Bickslow winced when he felt his hand tighten, and heat up.
"She better come back as okay as she can. Because if she doesn't."
Bicklsow paled, not that you could notice with his mask on. Because the face Natsu was making was actually intimidating, and his hand was just short of catching on fire it felt so hot. His black eyes listed and narrowed on him.
"Don't worry Pinky, She will be back fine. If anything Laxus can handle anything too wild."
Natsu's frowned deeper at the mention of the male blonds name, "He better not do anything stupid either."
Bickslow finally jerked his arm out of Natsu's grip and frowned, "Take a chill pill, you just met her why so protective?"
Natsu didn't say anything, as he turned ready to fight with Grey again. Honestly Natsu was wondering the same thing, but his dragon had claimed her as kin almost as soon as he had saw her. He would protect her as best he could. As soon as he saw Grey he pushed back any lingering doubts he felt as he slugged the now naked man in the face.
Bickslow frowned as he rubbed at his arm, which had to be one of his weirdest interactions with the dragon slayer yet, he has seen the boy drunk once. With a shake of his head he followed after Lucy who had just opened the Guild doors and was waiting for him.
"What did Natsu say?" Lucy asked
"Eh, He wanted to fight or something I wasn't really listening."
He watched as Lucy giggled, "He does seem to like fighting, everyone one here seems to like it a bit."
After they stopped by her small apartment for her to garb things fort he job, the two were running to the train station, almost late.
They boarded the train, and Bickslow had to bit back laughs as he thought of what Laxus will do once he knows he invited along. As they were walking to find Bickslow's friends the train started to move.
Finally, they reached the last car of the train, and enter the last compartment. As the door was slammed open, by her new friend? Where they friends now?
He was bombarded with shouts.
"Where where you Bickslow! We thought were where gonna have to catch the next train if you missed this one!" A beautiful woman snapped as she waved her fan in his direction her Her light brown hair in a sideways ponytail, dark brown eyes narrowed on his grinning man.
"Ever is right, you should be more punctual, Making people wait is not only rude but unprofessional." A man in with long green hair said as with his arms crossed, his own greenish-blue eyes, eying his friend wonder exactly what took so long.
"Sorry, sorry, But I brought a tag-a-long. Thought we could show her how real mages work." He said with a smirk, and moved out of the way as Lucy was standing behind him, binding apparently.
Lucy blushed as their eyes landed on her, "Eh, Hello! I'm Lucy, and I'm happy to tag-a-long." she said with a smile.
Ever eyed her with critical eyes, before huffing and turning away. Freed just furrowed his eyebrows trying to think where he had seen her before.
It was an awkward silence, as Bickslow frowned, as he pushed Lucy into a seat, and sitting next to her.
"Well don't be rude you two introduce yourselves," Bickslow said as three of his babies flew around him, while Pappa seemed to be fine in Lucy's lap, and Pippi was content to relax on top of her head in her hair.
The two stared at the odd sight, before Freed cleared his throat, "Right I'm Freed Justine, You are the new member that Natsu brought in, yes?"
Lucy smiled before nodding, and chirping out a happy 'yes'
Evergreen used her fan to cover the face, and seemed to turn up her nose, trying to look as cold as possible. "I'm Evergreen." She huffed as she looked away from the blindly bright smile the girl seems to have.
A few moments passed in a heavy silence, before Bickslow spoke, "Sooo,"
His two teammates narrowed their eyes at the mischievous tone they were familiar with.
"Where's-"
before he could finish the compartment door was opened quickly, and a slightly pale looking Laxus stood there, Bickslow watch as his noses twitched, and his eyes widen slightly no one would have noticed, but him, before stormy gray-blue eyes locked onto Lucy's face.
Bickslow chanced a look to the girl, and stiffened slightly at the tears that seemed to be gathering in her eyes, Wait what?
"L-Laxus?" she choked out.
Bickslow looked between to two of them, confused. He wasn't expecting this...
The small room held their breath, waiting for what would happen next, and Bickslow started to get a vaguely bad feeling as his best friend's face seem to close off, and his posture stiffen.
He opened his mouth, and his gruff voice asked "Who are you?"
Welp, Bickslow did an oops.
I also decided this is going to the 110% AU with maybe a dash of cannon sprinkled in here and there.
I'm glad you all like this, but it isn't the main thing I'm working on.
Also who was expecting that? Lets be honest this is still Laxus, emotionally constipated Laxus who needs a hug from time to time.
Natsu would burn something for his star sister...who are we kidding he would burn something regardless of the reason.
Let me know what you all thought of this.
