Chapter 17

Undyne POV:

"What's going on with them?" I asked when we learned that Asriel and Mute hadn't woken up from their rest for a full 24 hours. Since then, every single monster had gotten out of the Underground and were currently in and around the town that Mute lived in... and most of us monsters were in the house checking up on her, because she saved us and yet it seemed that now she needed to be saved.

"I don't know... either they really were exhausted, or they're having some kind of nightmare... Mute sometimes has them if she crashes to sleep... but this is the first time she's refused to wake up," Mute's mom, Melody, explained.

"So what do we do? I mean, Mute's obviously not going to wake up if we just shake her awake, so what do we do?" Muffet asked with a small smile. "Maybe if I bite her?"

"No, you shall do no such thing to my child!" both Toriel and Melody said, them smiling at each other soon after... which I found funny, since the duo were, indeed, both their kids.

"Maybe... I have an idea!" Papyrus smirked widely as he looked at Napstablook with a smile. "Napstablook, you said you've made the tunes sung by Mute on your phone, right?" he asked, me smirking at that.

"Yes... she doesn't really know... but since meeting with her in the Ruins... I've been watching and recording her songs whenever I see her... I then turned the words into the music form soon after, with added touches... here and there..." Napstablook said.

"Aha! I got it now! You think we could wake them up by singing a bunch of songs they sung on their way through the Underground, right?" I smirked.

"That's the idea, Undyne! Okay, what song should we start with?" Papyrus asked.

"How about mine?... We were a duet when we sung... maybe it'd help her wake up..." Napstablook smiled.

"Okay then, cousin! I shall sing the duet with you!" Mettaton smiled widely.

"Okay, Mettaton... let's do it," Napstablook smiled at that as he then played the music that he made, it being titled Ghost Fight.

"~Hey! Mute and Asriel!
It's Nap-sta-blook
As you see I'm still a spook!"

"I guess you must be tired after that quest
You've been sleeping sunrise to sunset!
So if you do not mind, friend,
I believe it's time to leave that nest!~" Mettaton sung as Napstablook then played the next song, which was the same that played during the fight she had with Mettaton.
"~Because... You are the idol everyone craves!
Rose to the top and the world you saved!
Smile for the camera, come look sharp!
You saved the light, now beat the dark!~" he sung as he then sung the next part widely.
"~Everybody loves you, the monsters and all living things!
You've slept for long enough time to get up, we shall sing!~" Mettaton sung as I then got in the fray and sung the next part.

"~Come on guys, just get up!
Your snoring really sucks!
The monsters Underground,
Have all gathered around!

Let's get those legs moving!
Won't you get up and sing?
Because if you do not,
Spear of Justice will rock!~" I sung as Napstablook then turned on the song he made for the music Mute sung at me when we were fighting in Waterfall.

"~There comes a time when a hero must make a choice!
Fighting with honor make all rivals fear their voice!
And now today, you have made all the monsters say:
Mute has rescued us all! Mute has brought back the day!

Real heroes never quit! Real heroes laugh at death!
We'll keep on singing until our final breath!
You saved the monster world, now we have one more goal
Making you wake up and sing with me once more!~" I sung as I then sung the next part.

"I forged my destiny from my blood and my sweat!
Before you came along no one had beat me yet!
You countered my blow and you spared me all the same,
So if you don't wake up, I'll have Sans sing out your name!~" I sung, me seeing that Mute was beginning to stir a bit from my song. It was working! And Napstablook then put on the next song, it being the one Mute sung with Sans in Waterfall, which was called Soul of Purity... much better name than Sans calling it Megalovania or Stronger than You.

"~You know, I've been thinking,
About you and me
Was this preordained?
Was this meant to be?

Somewhere deep down, I
thought there was no light!
But when you appeared
there was no more fright!~" Sans sung as he then got to the next part.

"~You were good and never fought
Only when you hadn't thought
There was no peace to be taught
You helped face the demon child!

Next the Void wanted you dead
But you went to him and said
That he wouldn't make you wet your bed
Now you sleep here calm and mild!~" Sans sung as Papyrus then sung the next part.

"~Your soul of purity is great!
But still not as great as I!
You yourself has said it and we made some butterscotch pie!

Do you smell the butterscotch?
Does it make your nose twitch a lot?
We made it special just for you, so don't you cry!~" Papyrus sung happily as we then noticed that the duo were starting to move some more. And I saw their eyes start to move all over inside of their eyelids.

"Keep it up! They've almost woke up!" I smirked as the Amalgamates then came up and looked to want to sing next, which, thanks to one of Alphys's new inventions, they were able to speak with their thoughts for every monster in their melted-together bodies. And they then sung next

"Come on, Mute and, Asriel, wake up
It's time, you know, our lives, don't suck
Though we, are one, our forms together
We are, content, here now, forever
Humans, love us, they gave, us love
You're not, alone, loving everyone!" the Amalgamates all sung as a chorus, which actually was the final kick that got the duo to finally wake up, them opening their eyes and me smirking at them.

"Huh?... Undyne?... So... it wasn't a dream, then?" Mute asked, as she was currently in control.

"Well, whatever dream you were having, it lasted for over 24 hours. We were worried sick about you, so we had a bit of a singing show to get you woke up," Asgore said with a smile.

"Yeah... I thought I could hear you guys... we have our own story to share with you... you just saved me and Asriel a lot of trouble..." she said.

"How so?" Toriel asked.

"I'll explain..." Asriel said as he then told us what had happened.

Mute POV:

We then explained to the group every detail of the nightmare that me and Asriel had... one could say that it was the very thing that we had to combat. The one part of Asriel that we needed to take pity on and make him feel love... basically, we woke up in a void of darkness and we saw Flowey appear in front of us, him having an appearance unlike anything we'd ever seen before... and Asriel said it was the form he took if he would've stolen the 6 human souls. One that was called Omega Flowey.

"Well, well, it looks like you made everyone have a happy end, didn't you?" Flowey asked in a very malicious voice from his standpoint, me and Asriel being the size of butterflies to him. "Well, you couldn't leave me out of that, could you? I'll make you stay here forever and ever, ripping you apart for eternity! Oh how delicious!" Flowey exclaimed with a sinister and evil cackle that would haunt me for a good while.

But, after me and Asriel were about to give up, wondering how we'd be able to face this guy when he was trapping us and he couldn't allow us to move, we then heard everyone singing. We first heard Napstablook, who's singing voice made me and Asriel gasp awake in our nightmare and we saw that it made our bodies able to move again. Their songs made it so that we could actually overpower Flowey's strength!

"W-What?! What's going on?" Flowey asked in shock as me and Asriel then combined our strengths and began to attack him with our purity laser, Flowey answering back with one from his heavily disgusting mouth. We then did some kind of laser battle akin to an epic anime battle with my laser growing stronger with every single song that I heard from the monsters I'd helped. After Napstablook sung, then came Mettaton with the song we sung together on stage. And after him came Undyne, singing the battle cry song I sung when facing her in Waterfall! And then after that was Papyrus and Sans singing a duet of the song I sang with Sans about the soul colors. And finally, the one that made me and Asriel finally overpower Flowey completely with our purity, the song that the Amalgamates sung, which filled both of us with pure Determination to beat back Flowey!

And soon after we overpowered him, Flowey then looked at us with fear and we simply went to him and Asriel simply hugged Flowey, the flower gasping and actually crying as he could feel the emotions that we now share. And soon, Flowey relinquished his form into Asriel, meaning that we were finally able to wake up.

"Whoa... so Flowey still lived on inside of Asriel despite your soul of purity... that's some pretty disturbing stuff," Sans said with a sigh.

"I'm just glad that our songs could help wake you up. We really were worried you'd bite the dust after being asleep for so long," Alphys smiled happily, me seeing tears in her eyes.

"Hey, Undyne?" I smiled, getting her attention. "We actually have a piano here in the house. Do you think you can play the song Reunited and we can all sing to it together? It's a song that's on the music sheet currently," I smiled, Undyne smirking at that.

"You bet! If nothing else, I am the best at playing the piano!" Undyne smiled as we then went to the piano and Undyne started to play the song that was laid out in front of her, me and Asriel humming along to the tune and everyone around us gasping, most likely because the song choice was one of the oldest ones I knew of.

"~Come now, children, do not quail

Love and peace will sure prevail

If you follow on this trail

You will hear the Undertale...~" I sung with everyone as I then made my own addition to the song and had everyone look at me as I did something different with mine and Asriel's powers... we gave them the knowledge of the words I thought up and they all smiled at them.

"In this story, we did sing
Of Fallen Children and Mountain Kings,
Mute saved all even our Prince
With her love she never winced!

Pure of Heart and Brave and Just
Truthful Patient, Full of Love
Determined and Patient, too.
Purity for me and you...~" everyone in the house sung with me and Asriel both singing at the same time, which Undyne smirked at when she saw my eyes.

"Your eyes were dual colored there during that song," Undyne smirked at me as I then looked over to Tsunderplane went over to me and I hugged her, mom looking at me and being a bit confused.

"Um... is this your girlfriend, Mute?" mom asked.

"Yeah... well, actually, Tsunderplane is my girlfriend... and my boyfriend is Great Papyrus," I smiled, Papyrus looking at me with a smile as I then saw tears come from his eyes. "Okay... I can understand blush, since you're a magic skeleton... but tears? I feel I must ask once more... how?" I smirked.

"I'd be glad to explain that to you, Mute and Prince," Papyrus smirked as he then joined the hug and I then looked at everyone happily as Asriel got an idea.

"Hey... how about we go ahead and get a photo? One with all of us monsters and Mute's mom?" Asriel smiled.

"That sounds pleasant, my child... what does everyone else say? A photograph to commemorate this glorious day?" Asgore asked. Everyone all cheered in unison at that and it only made me smile. We then all rushed outside and we gathered into the center of town, the amount of monsters in the town being about as much as half of the space it took up! And all the humans simply watched on with smiles on their faces... they probably got the explanation of my outcome as well from my mother and the others.

"Okay, guys, this is gonna be a very important photo, so be sure to give it your all in the smiling department!" I smiled at them as Asriel and I worked the timer camera and set it for 5 seconds. We then pushed it and ran over to our two moms and I counted down.

"Three! Two! CHEESE!" Everyone smiled with their wide smiles as the photograph was taken and we then looked at it to see how it turned out... and it was perfect! The whole crowd of monsters cheered wildly at me and Asriel's thumbs-up and it finally cemented our new life on the surface world. The musical journey of Mute,the human with a pure heart, was finally over.
