MORTAL~ KOOOOOOOMMMMMMBBBBAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT!

DUN DUN DUN!

Hell yeah! Wahoo!

Okay, so, it's a new fic... as you can guess claps

This one is staring Ghost's and my OC's, Bill and Sam

... Mainly Sam

I hope you guys all enjoy!

Like Ben 10 Intergalactic Reviewer, this show has no official upload schedule. It will just be uploaded whenever the next chapter is finished

This will be our take of Mortal Kombat X, with a few small changes of course.

The first one being the time between Shinnok's defeat and the start of the game being increased from 20 years to about 25 years

The second being the fact the Cyber Lin Quei where not destroyed between games

Also as a final note, we are ignoring the comics which told the story of the time skip between 9 and X. The reasons?
One, from what I read, it didn't establish anything that was in X (we didn't see Kotal rise up against Mileena, he was already Khan before the comic started, being the perfect example there)
And two, personally I do not find the tie-in comic to NetherRealm games good. I hated the original Injustice comic run after the first 'year' and it went on way too long. And the one set between Injustice 1 and 2, from what I read, was even worse

So... yeah

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy

Mortal Kombat Widow's Web Woven

Chapter 1: The Widow's Web

We arrive in a city that was ravaged by an oncoming attack, people running away from monsters that they didn't know where from, coming from burning red portals as they ravaged cities to the ground.

The war with Outworld and the Nether Realm was over

A lone warrior in yellow walked the streets, freed from the hellish form that devoured his soul. He was disembarking from a boat, Hanzo Hasashi was the last of the Shirai Ryu. Formally known as Scorpion, a demonic killer out for the revenge of his clan, he was finally... free

He had just spent the last few months traveling the world, fighting enemies all across the world to try and restore his clan and regain his honour. Little did he know the legacy he left behind in London, England, after his trip there. He looked around the city of where he walked, thinking of the fights he had kombatted in and those he had done under the thrall of others.

A few months later a woman in England was holding a half Japanese babe, holding her close

"Shh, it's okay. Mummy's here, baby." The woman spoke as she cradled her child "My precious little Samantha. I wish Hanzo stayed here. I'm sure he would have loved you." In her arms, was a small baby with whisps of black hair and green eyes; she looked up at her mother with a gummy smile, tugging on the blanket she was wrapped in.

She snuggled in, her eyes showing a fire within…

Years later a ten year old girl, the same girl, was coming home from ballet practice. She had neck length black hair, wearing her ballet clothes under a pair of black joggers and a blue hoodie with her ballet shoes over her neck while wearing sneakers "Ma! I'm home!" she called cheerfully as a flame of joy could be seen in her eyes

"Welcome back, Sammy. How was practice?" Sam's mother asked as she was sitting at a table, looking over some letters.

"Good... Wish you wouldn't call me that." 'Sammy' mumbled as she sat down at the table

"Sorry. 'Sam'. It's just hard to break out of old habits." The mother apologised and sighed as she put the letter down.

"Bills?" Sam asked

"Yes." She nodded

"Okay. Then I'll quit ballet." Sam responded seriously and nodded, looking up at her mother

"What? No, Sam. You love ballet. You're doing so well." Her mother answered, trying not to let her daughter give up her dream.

"And it's taking away money you need Mum." She said sadly

"Sam. I'll get a second job." Sam's mother smiled as she tried to put on a brave face for her daughter. "I'll figure something out. This is mummy's problem."

"But you work so hard already..." Sam said, some tears in her eyes

"Oh, Sam." Her mother frowned, going to her daughter's side and hugged her. "It's okay, it's alright. I just have to work a little harder."

"... why can't dad be here to help you?" Sam muttered weakly

"Your father... He's very busy." She frowned, stroking her daughter's back. "I'm sorry he's not here."

"I've never even met him though. People... say bad things about you." Sam admitted "I don't believe them but... Mum... who even is Dad?"

"Your father... Was special to me. He gave me you." She explained as she rubbed her daughters hair, a scar across her neck from where a kunai once nearly killed her

We skip forwards six more years, where an exhausted sixteen year old entered the house "I'm. Home." The sixteen-year-old sighed and wanted to flop down onto the small sofa in the tiny living room. She dropped a bag full of books on the ground, science ones about thermal physics slipping out. She was wearing the uniform of a local fast food place, doing part time work to help at home. Her uniform covered in flower and other stains. She groaned... Before she blinked, noticing the silence that the house had "Mum? Mum, are you here?" She called out, concerned and getting anxious. She got up and walked through the facility, looking around in worry "Mum? Mum?" She called out. "Oh god-!" She panicked and opened doors.

Laying there in the kitchen was her mother, unconsious and shaking

"MUM!" Sam panicked. "No, no, no!" She cradled her and saw that she was frothing from the mouth. "HELP! PLEASE!" She held her mother close, grabbing her phone "Come on; hello! Yes, hospital. It's my mother!" Sam spoke through the phone in a panic.

*Time Skip*

An eighteen year old teen was in the hospital, looking down sadly at her mother. She was holding her hand as her mother was lying in bed. The doctor came forward and looked at the girl. "Ms King?"

"That's me." The teen answered "I'm afraid the operation didn't work."

The teen's face soured and dropped. "I. It. It didn't-?"

"I'm sorry." The doctor apologised. "That was our last chance... I did tell you it was a long shot and I am afraid it didn't work."

"But. But she can't-"

"All we can do now is make her comfortable. Is there anyone we can call? Family, friends?" The doctor asked

"N... No it's just us." Sam admitted as her body went slightly limp. Her green eyes looked dim as she briefly thought of the man she didn't know

"I'll leave you two together then." The doctor nodded and left, leaving Sam on her own.

There was a moment as Sam stood there, her hair blowing in the wind. She was half Japanese with shoulder length black hair and green eyes, despite nearing the end of puberty her body had only started expanding out. She was wearing some generic and basic jeans and shirt, tears dripping down her face

"Sam..." a weak voice said from behind her, making her spin around

"Mum!" Sam gasped and rushed to her side "You shouldn't be up, save your-"

"It's okay my darling. I know." her mother smiled up weakly at her "I'm not going to be here for much longer... but that means I won't be holding you here anymore."

"No. You're not holding me here." Sam wept. "Please, don't go."

"Sammy... You don't like it here." her mother smiled "Getting bullied for your race. Who your mother is. Your girlfriends. You hate this place. We both know I'm the only thing... cough cough cough!"

"Mum! Please. It's okay, I-I don't-." Sam began to weep as she looked at her mother.

"H-Here." her mother stuttered out as she opened a draw, pulling out a plane ticket and a letter within a yellow envelope

"Wh-what is it?" Sam asked as she saw it.

"A-A ticket. One way. To...to your..." Sam's mother wheezed as she was falling to sleep.

"Mum?! MUM!? *MUM!*!" Sam cried as she fell to her knees, hugging her dying mother "Don't go! Please! Please Mummy! No! Don't leave me!" she cried

Beep.
beep..
beeeeeeeee...

A month later Sam disembarked from a plan. Wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap, her hair slightly longer and wearing a blue hoodie with black lycra pants she looked out across the airport with a bag thrown over her shoulder. She had the letter from her mother, it was quite long and gave instructions on where to go. It had been...rough, that passing month. But she sold what she had to, kept what she needed and saved enough for this travel.

Sure the ticket was pre bought, and it's why she didn't stay home grieving longer, but her mother wanted her to do this. She just had to follow these instructions and find her father...

'Father'. The word was like a double-edged sword to her. To finally meet the man who fertilized her mother... but to see the man who was never there for her. Didn't even know she existed. It was venom to her ears. The man who left them alone. Who left them for her mother to struggle alone. To grow sick

She would find him... She'd chew him out for everything he put them through. Sam left the airport looking around for a taxi, or at least someone to help get her where she needed to go.

Another month had passed as Sam stood in a beautiful garden, looking at the man called Hanzo. He was a tied back black-haired man with a black goatee beard, wearing a yellow headband on his forehead, wearing a yellow and black gi, white bindings on his upper arms, black and silver bracers, black trousers and with sandals "You... Are her daughter?" he asked softly

"Yes." Sam answered, trying not to sound bitter as she remembered her mother, but she was sounding hurt as she looked at her 'father'. "She gave me this." And showed the letter.

"That letter... It is for her. For you." he responded as he took the letter "This is a letter I sent."

"Yeah. I've read it." Sam spoke while holding back her rage towards him. "Why...Why didn't you come find us?"

"Because your mother did not want my help if I could not stay." he responded "Samantha... You are not my first child. Your older half-brother, my former wife... They were murdered. Years ago, years before you were even born. I did horrible things in my search for revenge. When I was freed from that path... I was a broken man. I went out to rebuild my clan, my new family. When I met your mother I was... Very different. She helped me heal. "

"And you found... some form of peace?" Sam asked

"Yes. Yes, I have and did." Hanzo answered, passing the letter back to Sam.

"She helped me feel... like myself again. But it was not love, we both knew that. It was a night of passion. Of respect. Of both of us needing... someone. And so we went our own ways a few days later. I reformed my clan, the Shirai Ryu reborn, and... I had a purpose once again. It was not until years later that I discovered you were born, until you were three years old I did not know you existed. But I had a purpose here... and your mother did not want me to abandon that purpose. I could not just leave my students, my family, to spend time with you. But I did offer you and your mother a place here."

"So... why?" Sam asked

"She refused to accept money from me. Your mother was head strong, like the fire I see in your eyes. She refused to accept my help, she was determined she would take both of you here under her own power. And then I did not hear from her again." Hanzo explained sadly "Now I know why."

"Why? What did she keep from u-. Me?" She asked, halting herself from saying something.

"No. It was most likely her illness." he sighed "When she started to fall sick she just stopped sending me messages, knowing I would realise something was wrong. Too head strong, too confident, too prideful. If I had known, your mothers wishes or no, I would have brought you both here. The stress of all the work she took on is what made it worse. If I could have made life easier for her..."

"Mum died...because she was stubborn." Sam frowned, realising what he meant. "Damn it."

She ran a hand through her hair "... yeah, that's her. She was... she was stro-strong and didn't wan-want help." she muttered, remembering all the times her mother insisted she was fine and tried to leave the hospital. Or tried to fix things herself instead of calling a repair man or... or...

Drip
Drip

"My dear." Hanzo sighed and hugged Sam softly

"I-I miss her!" Sam cried deeply as she hugged him back

Hanzo hushed his daughter, hugging her close. "It's alright. It's alright. You're home now." he ran his fingers through her hair and hummed softly "It's okay my flower." he soothed

*time skip*

Sam panted as sweat dripped down her body, standing in a freezing temple. It had been some months that she had been brought into her Father's world. Getting by on her own merits and skill, without even using her father's name, her skill was not as advanced as the others who trained there, but her ambition and adaptability made her on par with them. And so... she went to her fathers 'rival'…

"Master SubZero..." she panted in exhaustion "I... oh god I'm so hot."

"This sort of torture happens, Samantha." a man said from behind her "You are reverse engineering my cryokenisis in order to learn how to manipulate fire." The man walked out, he had black hair and beard, wearing a blue padded open vest with white Katakana, brown bracers tied with black leather, black trousers with silver boots.

"It's difficult." She panted. "Master Kuai Liang."

"Perhaps you should rest. This is not a marathon." The man responded "If you push yourself too hard you may literally burst on fire."

"Master... you don't understand." she responded "No matter what I wear, it... it feels like I am in a sauna. It's been that way for a few days."

"Hmm. Perhaps Bill can help cool you off. You and him have been getting close." Master Kuai Liang answered

"He's become like my brother." She answered

"I will have to look into this however." he added in concern

Sam nodded and turned around, following his orders and heading into the temple

Inside she found a tall man sitting in a meditative position, wearing a blue gi with black trousers and blue boots. He had dark brown hair and a muscular frame. "Sam. Are you alright?" The man asked, turning around and saw her flustered face. "Whoa, easy."

"I... Oh god... I feel like I'm dying." she mumbled "Do you have... any water?"

"I'll get some. But for now, I've got something." Bill answered, pressing his hands onto her body, closing his eyes and pushed a powerful chill into her body, cooling Sam down. A wave of an icy touch pulsed over Sam's body, cooling the flames within her.

"Oh~ that's good." she sighed happily "You're a good guy, Bill." she smiled

"Of course, you're my sister, Sam." Bill answered in a brotherly tone. "Are you feeling better?"

"Much. Thank you." She responded

Bill nodded. "I remember when you first came here. You've grown since then."

"You were very intimidating." Sam laughed

"Being seven foot tall does that to you." Bill joked.

"Hey, Chill Bill." another female voice called, a blue haired woman walking towards them

"Hmm. Frost." Bill frowned briefly as he heard that. "What brings you here?" He asked.

The woman had icy blue hair that was blown back, almost like icicles, wearing a blue mask over her mouth and nose which let out a small cloud of chilled air, a blue gi over a black bodysuit, upper arm-length fingerless gloves with blue etchings, black boots and a blue sash tied around one thigh "What? I was just walking the halls and came across my favourite guy." She smirked flirtingly

"I'm in the middle of healing." Bill frowned as he continued to cool Sam.

"Really? Are you sure you don't want to hang out? Maybe visit... my room?" she asked, her hand rubbing his shoulder and neck in a sensual manor

"Frost, please. I'm busy!" Bill frowned, almost losing control

"Hnn! A-A bit cold there, Bill." Sam hissed, her shoulder getting a bit colder than the rest of her body.

"Sorry." He apologised

"Fine." Frost pouted "Just pay me a visit when you're done, okay?" she asked softly and kissed his cheek to leave a blue lipstick mark there before she left

"She may be cold but she is hot." Sam joked after she was gone

"I'm glad you can still make jokes." Bill answered. "There, you should be fine now." And rubbed off the lipstick off of his cheek.

"I hope." she sighed

"So... what happened?" Bill asked

"I don't know." she admitted "I was practicing my techniques the other day and I was close to summoning fire but nothing happened and now I feel all... weird."

"And I believe I have found the answer, Samantha." Kuai Liang said as he walked inside

"Grand Master." Bill respectfully bowed down to his master.

"You do?" Samantha asked

"Yes. Now, tell me the two of you, what are the basics of cryokenisis?" the Grand Master asked

"Cryokinesis is the manipulation of temperatures, creating and the manipulation of ice and snow. It's formed by the will and core of the Lin Kuai's spirit and technique." Bill answered

"Exactly." The Grand Master nodded "And Sam you tried to do this in the opposite direction, didn't you? An increase of temperature instead of a decrease?"

"Yeah. It's like... not trying to suppress my passion or my emotions." Sam nodded.

"Yes. Unfortunately you... did something wrong." the Grand Master sighed "When you were practicing the other day, you did not let your chi flow through your core correctly. You let your flames burn too hot too soon."

"Is she going to be okay?" Bill asked in a rather overprotective manor

"She will. However her core has become one with the fire." Kuai Liang nodded "Her body temperature will forever be raised as the flames lick just under the surface of her skin. In a way she is her father's daughter, the Scorpion's child." he was smiling at the end, a look of nostalgia on his face

"I am my father's daughter... and my mother's." Sam smiled gently, having come to terms with everything.

"So... What? Sam has to wear really thin clothing as to not get heat stroke?" Bill asked

"... Or very little clothing." Sam said as she rubbed her chin, getting ideas

"What? No no no! Nonononono!" Bill frowned like a protective big brother while realising what she meant "Nonononono-"

"-Noooo!" Sam yelled as she reached out for Bill as the school was shaking

"Sam! Run! Protect the others! I'll hold them off!" Bill snapped, standing there with his Tekko-Kagi weapons attached to his hands and his chest and shoulders covered in ice armour

"No! No! Bill!" Sam yelled

"They need you Widow! Now go!" he snapped "Go! I'll defeat the Cyber Lin Quei! Just go!"

"-And how how we defeated Shinnocke." a male voice said, snapping reality back into place

A half Japanese woman of 22 shook her head, paying attention once again. She had zoned out, thinking back to that day to ignore her commander. She had black hair that flowed down to her shoulder blades, done up in a slight ponytail. Her green eyes shone with mischief and confidence. As she should, as her body was impressive and her cloths left little the imagination. Her breasts where large sensual DD cups with an hour glass waist and a trimmed, toned stomach and thighs, a mix of sensual femininity and raw power they was difficult to acutely balance. She wore a rather... Revealing outfit as well.

Orange high heel thigh high boots, with some black accents that are designed to look like flames, held and supported her long legs. The black started at the sole and heel of the boot, a nice and simple situation. Around the top of the thigh high footwear was black accents that went down to the toe of her boot, the black accents going down in curlew and waves which looked like fire and every now and again curled in on themselves to make heart like patterns in the material. Matching these where black elbow length gauntlet/arm sleeves which hooked themselves around her middle fingers and bad orange markings which mirrored the ones on her boots. Her mouth and nose were covered by an orange face mask which was rather plane and simple, and protected the jaw area of her face. Her ample chest and her upper body was barely concealed within a dark orange sleeveless and legless leotard which had small black and orange shoulder pads build in. The leotard hugged her every curve... And that was not enough. The suit had a large V shape cut going from her stomach up to her neck, her nipples barley being concealed by the fabric. Opening was kept together by black lacing which crisscrossed the gap, over her bosom and keeping the suit as together we possible. And finally she had a chain tied around her waist like a belt, which lead to a black leather holster on her left thigh

The woman looked around the plane cabin silently, taking in everyone else who was in the area. There were soldiers, all wearing the same uniform, concealing their faces from gas or incoming punches.

Next to them was a blonde-bun-haired woman wearing a dark blue military body-armour suit that covered her shapely body and toned muscles, gun-holsters and protective plating and extra ammunition.

A black woman with tied back cornrow hair, dark blue military camouflage attire, a chest-plate, a pouch laden belt, black combat boots and kneecap protectors and on her arms specialised military issued fists with rocket propulsion.

Next to them was a blue armoured Japanese man, some yellow marking son his upper thigh armour, near-black body armour for lightweight flexibility, he almost looked like a ninja, black boots and dark blue gloves with a yellow headband around his forehead.

Following him, was a Chinese man, black hair and eyes, wearing a bronze circlet with cheek guards, brown detailed protective leather, a bead-necklace, a red sash with an iron circle holding it in place; light brown trousers and plated shoulder armour. In his hand was a dragon head bow with a green gem in its mouth.

And finally, there was an older man, greying brown hair with a small silver chain necklace around his neck, a padded sleeveless hoodie, a blue shirt, combat military trousers, brown boots, bandages on his forearms and padded knuckle gloves. He may have been getting on in years, but he had this cocky swagger and aura about him, with a chiselled jawline.

"Widow, you good?" the armoured Japanese man asked as he saw the woman paying attention once again

"Yes Takeda." She nodded

"Good, because we need your head in the game." The blonde woman responded as she saw them.

"My head's always in the game when you're involved Ms Cage." Widow flirted "And my head doesn't mind being elsewhere if you wanted to spread those thighs." she winked

"You know I don't swing that way, Widow." 'Ms Cage' responded as she rolled her eyes.

"Yes, but you haven't tried." she teased once again

"Cassie, Widow. Come on; let's not get into this now." The black woman commented

"Oh, but Major Briggs, you're welcome to join." Widow shot back "I can handle both of you at once, who knows it might lead to you to being closer than just best friends? Just make sure I'm your brides' maid." she teased, clearly enjoying messing with the two

"We can't win against her when she gets like this Jacquie." Cassie sighed, rubbing her eyes.

"I think it's cute, you three flustering over each other." The Chinese man chuckled.

"Nah, Jin, I ain't flustered. This is so fun." Widow said with a dramatic lick of her lips

"Alright, team. You can cool your jets. We're approaching the zone." The leader, Cassie's Father, proclaimed

Everyone turned to him, the man given their full attention

"Now, Grand Master Liang may be an ally, but he might need reconvincing." the man answered

"Huh? But Mister Cage-" Widow started, only to be sushed by 'MS Cage'

"No 'buts', you're all going to go to the Lin Kuai Temple." Mr Cage answered "And if needed, take the Grand Master in."

"Yes, Sir!" The four minus Widow answered immediately.

"Yes, sir." Widow responded, only with a softer response. She hoped she'd be able to make this situation go smoothly 'How long has it been?' She thought to herself, scared of what would be there... and the memories she left behind.

"Okay guys, go go go!" Mr Cage ordered

The five ran out of the convoy and headed to the Lin Kuai Temple, aimed for the Grandmaster. They ran out, the cold hitting them suddenly "Jesus! Isn't it summer right about now?" Jin responded, feeling the cold the most.

"It's the Lin Kuai's power. The cold is their home." Widow answered

"It's a good thing you're here, Widow." Takeda commented, thanking her.

"Yeah Takeda, I'm smoking. Pure Shirai Ryu heat in sexy Lin Quei inspired silk." she joked while she held her arms up above her head, her arms curled around each other sensually while her hip was cocked to the side like she was in a music video. And steam was rising from her flesh where the snow touched

"Can we focus?" Cassie called out, pushing the group forward.

"Right." Widow sighed, lowering her arms as the five walked through the snow

"How thick does this go?" Jin asked as they trudged through the snow, though it was now slush created by Sam.

"Well it can get as bad as a foot deep." she admitted "Wait, no, worst I saw was three feet. But that was during winter when several cryomancers where practicing all out."

"How did you even cope up here?" Jacquie asked as the slush was difficult not to slip on.

"Well we don't normally start this far down." she responded as they entered the temple's grounds, where they noticed a man leaving the temple

It was the Grand Master, flunked by two guards

"Grandmaster Liang." Widow respectfully bowed as they approached him as she walked forwards, getting his attention and making the other members of her team stumble

"Widow!" Cassie hissed as the others followed her out "This was supposed to be stealth." She grumbled

"Ah, Samantha, it has been some time." he nodded, Widow hurrying over and hugging him like they were family

"Too long." she nodded, pulling her mask down

"I see you have joined Cage's soldier group. You look well." He responded

"Thank you." she nodded and pulled back, bowing respectfully

"We need you to come with us please, sir." Cassie requested

The Grandmaster turned and looked at Cassie and the team with a serious look. "You come to my temple and request my assistance?"

"Grand Maste-" Sam started, only to be interrupted

"Well, if you don't come with us willingly we can do it the other way." Jin responded

"JIN!" Sam snapped

"So you have chosen." The Grandmaster calmly stated...and raised his hand which brought a band of Lin Kuai to surround them. They were surrounded by so many ninja, seemingly countless as the group began to panic

"Damn it Jin!" Jacquie hissed as the battle began

"Grandmaster-" Sam frowned, before she was cut off by a Lin Kuai and forced back by a punch to the gut. She raised her leg, using her powerful knee to block his strike. As she did she reached down and with one well skilled movement she pulled something out of the holster on her leg.

She gave a powerful throw, the chain around her waist unfolding

Her opponent was forced to move back as Widow caught her chain with a clearly practiced fluidity before the last link left her waist. She pulled the chain, her body shifting and flowing as she span the chain in a large arc. As it did it wrapped around the Lin Kuei's arm and forced him off balance. As she pulled the chain back to her, which dragged him along with it, she launched an orange blast of flame from her free hand right into his chest

The Lin Quei was blasted backwards again as Widow caught her chain, revealing a fancy looking blade at the end of it

"You have grown since coming here, Widow." The Lin Kuai commented as he flipped back to their feet.

"Yeah, gone up a whole cup size." she joked as she span her chain like a ribbon, letting the blade skirting across the stone floor and making small sparks. A simple act of intimidation and forcing him to keep his distance

The Lin Kuai leapt back, before shooting out a barrage of ice at her, though Sam's whip and heat melted and sliced through the ice bullets thrown her way. She did a spin, rolling the chain around her body, before she threw her arm forwards with the blade following the path as it went flying at the ninja

"GAH!" he hissed in pain as it stabbed into his shoulder

"On your knees." Sam hissed as she channeled her father. She raised her leg, her ankle skillfully twisting itself around the chain, before she lowered her foot. She stepped on the chain and forced it to the ground right in front of her, the tension and restriction of the chain pulling the Lin Quei forwards

He let out a yell as he was pulled forwards, falling to the floor on his face with the blade being forced deeper into his wound

Sam sprung forwards, doing a hand stand and then flipping entirely 360. He knees came down and smashed into the back of the ninja's head with her full weight and strength, which made his head rocket forwards and hit the ground inches from his nose. He was knocked out as Sam landed on his back in a kneeling position

She looked upon the Grandmaster, frowning as she had to fight her father figure. She didn't want to, but this was a 'no choice' situation. She reached under the knocked out ninja and tugged the chain out of his chest. She had been sure not to harm any vital areas, he would be fine.

Widow stood up and flicked her wrist, her chain tying itself around her waist with a single skilled movement, as she walked towards the man she saw as her uncle

"Grandmaster, please. We do not have to do this." Sam asked hopefully, seeing the other four members of the group captured and restrained

"I am afraid it must Widow." he frowned before unleashing a blast of ice

It took less than a second to react, Widow twisting her arms in a circular motion before she threw her arms forwards and unleashed a torrent of fire

Freezing pressure meeting burning flames, absolute zero Vs a temperature in the thousands of degrees

It lasted for fifteen long seconds, the two absolute opposite elements trying to cancel the other out, before both fighters ended their bursts

Sam was visibly tired from the act but Sub Zero did not seemed phased at all

"Impressive. But you still have much to learn." Sub-Zero commented and summoned a large block of ice from under Sam and flung her upwards into the air, slamming into her chest.

She grunted as she rolled back. She quickly grabbed her chain and threw it

The blade flew past Sub-Zero's face and embedded itself into the ground

"Damn, she missed." Jin frowned

"She wasn't trying to hit him." Takeda smirked

Sam tugged the chain back and two things happened at once.

The first was that the chain's blade ripped a stone out of the ground as it was yanked back towards it's owner. The stone smashed against the back of Sub-Zero's head as it passed him, making him bend over slightly at the impact. The second was that Sam was pulled towards the Grandmaster. She caught the blade side of her chain while she hooked her feet around his neck and twisted her body, spinning them around 180 so she landed on the floor in a handstand position.

However while Widow landed like that, the Grandmaster hit the ground back first, making hum grunt out in pain. Widow then rolled forwards, slashing her chain around her as she did as a protection move, before pulling herself to her feet

"How... was that?" she asked with a small pant

"Impressive." he chuckled as he got up, rolling his sore muscles lightly "But. Kombat truley begins now."

"Kombat?" She gasped, back-flipping away from the Grandmaster. She prepared her chain, taking small and careful steps as she prepared for his first blow

"You have grown in experience since I last saw you." Sub-Zero called out.

"Years of training have made me stronger." Sam responded

"Show me that progress, Widow." He flexed his fists. He threw his fists out, launching ice blasts from his his hands

Widow slashed her chain in quick jabs, surrounded by flames and melting the ice. As she did, she rushed forwards and leapt into the air, preforming a heel kick as she came falling down

Sub-Zero leaned back, the heel of her shoe grazing his chest and leaving a small cut

Widow landed in a slight crouch only to be caught in surprise by Sub-Zero's backhand. Widow was slapped away by the strength of her elder's fist, rolling on the ground as he chained his attacks together with ice weaponry. He preformed a downwards strike with an ice war hammer, which Widow had to roll backwards to avoid. She got up and slashed with her chain, however Sub-Zero summoned an ice sword. He let her chain wrap around the blade before he pulled, forcing her forwards, while he let the sword disappear, and preformed a harsh kick to the side of her arm

"Argh!" She grunted as she was forced down to the ground, as that icy foot hurt quite a bit, even though her heat was warming herself up. She fired a point blank fireball into her former masters stomach, shooting her chain out to tie him up.

The chain spiraled around him several times before interlocking, trapping his arms to his sides

Sam took a tight grip of the chain and focused, igniting it

The chain shook lightly as it glowed before the chain was encased in flames

'Burn!' She thought in anger and shattered her former Master... Shattered?

Sub-Zero managed to escape the chains, leaving a frozen statue of himself to be shattered in his place. He gave two harsh strikes, one jab to her back which made her gasp. She instinctively stumbled forwards and span around, only to be hit with another punch top the face. Sub-Zero then grabbed her leotard and forced her forwards as he slammed his forehead to hers. As Widow fell back, Sub-Zero span around and gave her a roundhouse kick to the chest

Sam was sent flying back, her chain lost from her grip, before she came crashing down to the ground. She groaned, having trouble moving, as Lin Quei ninja grabbed her and forced her to her knees besides the others

"Bring them together." Sub-Zero ordered

"Hnn." Sam grunted in pain, hurt as she was calming down... though she didn't want this outcome, being betrayed or bound by the Lin Kuai.

"Are you okay?" Takeda asked

"I'll be fine." She answered, before staring daggers at Jin.

"What?" Jin asked in confusion

Sub-Zero looked at the group, seeing all five of them in his vision. Raising his hand...

SHINK!

Swords come out of the Lin Kuai's sheathes. Each of the group looked at each other one last time and gulped.

The blue-clad warriors were awaiting instruction by their Grandmaster.

A subtle motion from his hand, which gave them their instructions.

SLICE!

Thud.

The ropes that bound the group were cut effortlessly.

"Err, what?" Jacquie asked in shock as they were freed

"Congratulations, you passed." Sub-Zero smiled

"Wait, was this a test?" Cassie asked as they were freed.

"Of course. We had to make sure that you were working as a team." Mr Cage answered as he appeared before them.

"... You've got to be kidding me." Jacquie grumbled

"Unfortunately not." Sub-Zero answered. "You have fought together. But you didn't 'fight' together."

"I am sorry Grandmaster." Sam bowed

"Samantha, walk with me. Please." Sub-Zero asked

"Of course." She nodded and stood tall, bowing once more, before she followed him away and leaving the rest of her team to speak to Mr Cage

"Now, who wants to tell me what went wrong?" Mr Cage asked the remaining group.

Sam and Sub-Zero walked up to the Temple, where they overlooked the mountains and gardens of the home. "It's good to see you, Sam." He smiled gently, wanting to hug her...only for her to hug him instead.

"You to Grandma-Uncle Kuai Liang." She sighed softly "... How are the new students?"

"They are fine. Though... this place is not as warm as it once was." He answered.

"I'm sorry. But I... Had to leave. I had to go back to dad and the memories they... Where too much." Sam muttered as she held up her chain, and looking at the blade at the end of it. A sleek blade stylised after a spider, with a snowflake symbol in place of a black widow's hourglass

"I understand completely." Kuai Liang nodded. "I miss him too."

"Any word on the Cyber Lin Quei's location?" Sam asked seriously

"None. Wherever they are, they've remained hidden." Kuai Liang answered. "Almost expertly."

"FUCK!" Sam yelled, throwing her burning blade through the air into a wall

"We're not giving up, Sam. We will find them." Kuai Liang responded. "It seems you've gotten better at controlling your fire too."

"My father was a big help." Sam nodded softly, pulling the chain back "... I hope I am making the title you gave me proud."

"Of course. And I've heard from Mr Cage that you flirt with your teammates often." He responded.

"Yes~?" Sam said innocently, her voice gaining a teasing purr

"You certainly live up to your name." He chuckled gently and patted her shoulder.

"Yeah. But Black isn't my colour." she smiled

The Widow, that was who she was

The Black Widow spider was famous for devowering its mates after having intercourse

And Sam symbolised that, it a way. Her sensual attitude and movements as well as her revealing outfit designed to distract and catch her foes off guard so her lethal blows would be much easier to deliver

"You know what I mean." He chuckled gently. "What is it?" He asked a member of his clan appeared.

"Grandmaster, the troop is about to leave." The Lin Kuai bowed out of respect.

"Oh." Sam frowned and lowered her head

...

"I apologize for the deception and betrayal, Samantha." Kuai Liang bowed "I know your trust is hard to gain and the trial we put you through shook you. And while the exercise was needed for your team, the dishonour of deceiving your trust in such a way is not one I welcome. You are Hanzo's daughter, in a way you are like family to me, and I do feel shame for such a test."

"Why? Because I am special?" Sam smiled "It is as you said, Grandmaster, this test was needed and I trust you."

...

"You always did have a mouth." Sub-Zero smirked as he stood tall once again

"Blame mi mum." Sam said, letting her British accent flow through nice and thickly for a moment

"It would have been nice to have met her." he nodded "She would have been an amazing woman to raise someone like you, my dear."

"Please, I'm not that good." Sam smiled as they returned to the courtyard of the Lin Quei temple

"True. You still have much to learn. And I hope your new friends and team will assist you in that." He responded

"Oh, you mean like how chocolate ass tastes? I hope so to, since I have a very nice sample over there!" Sam called over in a dramatic fashion

"Screw you Widow!" Jacquie called back

"Promises, promises, Major Brigs!" Sam responded back

"WIDOW!" Takeda snapped

Sam laughed, bending over lightly "Oh he gets jealous easy." she giggled

Sub-Zero chuckled at the group as they left. 'I hope you're still out there. I hope we will meet again.' He thought, looking out the horizon
