Lord Eddard Stark didn't know exactly why he was gripping the pommel of Ice so hard. He had walked through this part of the Wolfswood so many times before, that he shouldn't be so tense. He had felt a deep sense of unease ever since entering the forest. He could've blamed this feeling on the fact that he just had to execute a deserter of the Night's Watch; not least of which, young Bran had to watch. But it was deeper than that; he had felt this feeling since he woke up this morning, long before he learned of the deserter.
Now, the feeling had grown even stronger since entering the forest. Somehow, he felt like something was going to happen; something that was going to affect the whole realm as a whole. Suddenly, a shout from up ahead came about. Ned felt his heart turn to ice; Robb and Jon had raced forward by themselves only a moment ago. Ned, along with the rest of his entourage, spurred their horses forward. They eventually came to where Robb and Jon were, and Ned felt his face freeze.
There were two things out of the ordinary beside the road where Robb and Jon were standing with their swords drawn. One, a giant Direwolf was laying on the ground, slightly whining in pain. Assembled around her were several Direwolf pups, licking their mother's fur. The second thing was the three figures standing near the Direwolf. The first man was most-likely in his mid-twenties. He was heavily-muscled, and wielding a golden greatsword. Despite carrying himself like a great warrior, he was clad in the strangest attire, much like a brigand.
The third man was dressed much like a Dothraki would; leather from head to toe. He had shoulder length blonde hair, and was covered in muscle. Strangely, he carried no blade on him. Instead, he was wielding a chain-whip in both hands. He had more unorthodox weapons on his belt, including several small axes, and bottles of strange liquid. The third man was clad head to toe in the strangest armor that Ned had ever seen. It was brightly colored, and completely form fitting.
The armor clad man was pointing his right arm at his two sons; there was some sort of apparatus at the arm's end that Ned took to be some sort of weapon. Ned didn't want this encounter to end in bloodshed, especially if it involved his three sons and ward. He was about to command the strangers to yield, when a voice rose up from the forest. "Wait! There's no reason to fight!" Another man (this one just barely a man), and clad in the simplest (yet still strange) attire came out of the woods.
He put a hand up to both his companions and Ned's group. It was at that moment that Ned noticed three red and white balls on the boy's belt. Queer. The three warriors of the group slowly lowered their weapons; Ned signaled his sons to do the same. The boy turned his attention to Ned. "Sir, we are just a group of... friends that have found ourselves in this land. Can you please tell us where we are?" Ned studied the boy, trying to decide if he was lying or a fool. He decided neither.
"You are in the lands of the North, part of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Pray tell, what do you mean by... finding yourselves here." The boy shrugged. "One minute we were relaxing in our home, then we were awakening in this forest." Ned continued to study the boy, before finally coming to a decision. "We will sort this out when I bring you to the castle. Please, follow us." Although Ser Rodrick huffed, Ned's decision was final.
Ned spoke again: "Before we leave, we will need to know your names." The boy nodded, then turned to his three companions. "This is Ike, Simon, and Samus. And me, well, you can just call me Red." Ned nodded, and was about to start the expedition up again, when Red gestured to the forest again. "And over there is Olimar." A new person peeked out from behind a tree. Ned felt himself start yet again. This... person was quite possibly the strangest out of all of them.
He was clearly a man grown, yet was shorter than perhaps the Imp. He was dressed in attire even Ned couldn't describe. There were several features that projected an... un-human appearance. Olimar darted from the forest to hide again behind the one called Ike, who scoffed. Ned shook himself, and gestured for the group to move out towards Winterfell, riding at a pace so that the others could keep up. Whatever, happened in the future, Ned felt that this was the change to the realm that he had been fearing.
