Chapter 1: Dan's Escape?

*Ghost Zone*

All should have been quiet in Clockworks lair except for the typical ticking of all the clocks that decorated his domain, however at present there were a couple of unwanted guests in the citadel as Clockwork was once again talking with two of the Observants, they had been turning up in his lair far more often than the time ghost would have liked. This time their conversation was more like a one sided argument, the argument being about finally being rid of the abomination that lived outside of time and space. Clockwork had little to say on the matter other than everything that will happen will happen and they would just have to observe that and deal with it. All the pleading from the giant eyeballs for Clockwork to do his duty and finally dispose of the creature in question was starting to get on the nerves of a resident ghost who was a prisoner in Clockworks domain.

"Would you just shut up already?" Shouted the ghost from inside the beat up looking green and grey thermos that was situated on a table in the corner of the room. The floating eyeball ghosts just ignored the noise and continued to practically beg the purple clad ghost to just remove him from this world while gesturing to the thermos in the room. Clockwork narrowed his eyes at the Observants quickly quieting them before casting his gaze over to the thermos.

"Calm down Daniel." sighed Clockwork in a soothing manner his gaze softening slightly as his form shifted into that of an elderly man.

"Don't tell me what to do! And stop calling me that! My name is Dan! Not Daniel! Not Danny! Not anything that stupid dweeb of my younger self goes by! It's just Dan!" shouted the trapped and now alternative future ghost of Danny Phantom.

"Why do you even keep him here? Just get rid of him, that way all of time and space will be safe and rid of him. It's in favour with the worlds existence so why won't you do it?" asked one of the Observants.

"I have my reasons." answered Clockwork with a smug expression, fiddling with his staff.

"CLOCKWORK!" shouted the two Observants going on about how that is not a good enough reason to go against the council on the decision of ending the abomination.

"Oh keep your eyes in their sockets, for crying out loud!" moaned Dan in annoyance, you could practically feel him roll his eyes.

"KEEP OUT OF THINGS THAT DON'T CONCERN YOU BOY!" Shouted both the Observants in perfect harmony.

"They do concern me if you are talking about KILLING ME!" Dan growled.

"And as I have stated many times before that is not likely to happen seeing as he is in my care," said Clockwork calmly, he had slowly but most of the time unsuccessfully been getting Dan to hold small conversations with him while he did his usual work correcting paradoxes and keeping his eyes on the time streams. Being a very ancient being and spending most of his time alone in his tower except for the occasional visits from other ghosts, it was nice having someone in the tower to talk to and tease when he was bored.

"Time to prove your worth Dan," Clockwork mumbled, staring into a portal where among the green swirls you could see a portion of Amity Park.

"What?" asked a grumpy but confused Dan, unable to see what was happening outside of his new 'home sweet home'.

"3, 2, 1 poof." Clockwork counted down. And with that the thermos disappeared in a puff of green smoke, leaving the table it was on empty.

The Observants stared at the space the thermos had occupied not 10 seconds before, then slowly turned to the calm form of Clockwork floating over by his time windows seemingly oblivious to what had just occurred, Clockwork turned to the two Observants and seen that their eyes were holding the question 'What have you done?'

"All will be revealed in due time. But for now, would you care to observe the door," said Clockwork changing into his adult form glaring at the other two ghosts and with that the two Observants faded away, back to their own domain and Clockwork continued to watch his time windows as normal seemingly not worried about the missing deadly ghost he was supposed to be guarding.

*Meanwhile in Amity Park*

The not too popular ghost Danny Phantom and the Red Huntress were fighting above the towns Nasty Burger. Well it was more of Red Huntress shooting at Danny while he tried to avoid the blast's than a fight.

"I haven't done anything! Why are you shooting at me?" asked Danny, fed up of dodging each shot fired his way. He was only in ghost form to fly home quicker after spending his Sunday with Sam and Tucker, they had been having a good day. No ghost fights had broken out today so he got to relax playing video games all day and then going to the Nasty Burger for lunch with his two best friends. Now he just wanted to go home and hopefully get some homework done and get to sleep ready for school the next day, but could he catch a break? Of course not.

"Cause you're a ghost, you ruined my life and I need to protect this town from you and your ghostly evil!" listed Valerie.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I'm sorry?!" sighed Phantom stopping in the air to turn and look at the ghost hunter.

"It doesn't matter how many times you say it, you are still my enemy!" glared Valerie through the visor covering her eyes in the suit.

"We don't have to be enemies Red Huntress, if you would just-" Started Danny before he was cut off dodging to the side to avoid being hit with a eco-blasters ray.

"Argh, I wish your worst enemy was here right now, that way you'd know what this is like! Now less talking, more fighting!" shouted Valerie.

"So you have wished it so it shall be," came the sudden voice of Desiree, popping out of nowhere. The sky where Danny and Valerie was filled with a green smoke and then it disappeared with Desiree leaving a banged up Fenton thermos in her place floating in mid air between the ghost fighting pair.

Phantom looked at the thermos with a confused but apprehensive expression. Whereas Valerie just deadpan stared between the thermos and Phantom.

"Seriously? Your worst enemy is a thermos?" Valerie sighed, she wasn't expecting to get anything to happen until that wishing ghost had said those words and then she thought maybe an extra ghost hunter would appear or something not a stupid beat up soup canister.

"Well I guess I didn't have too much luck with these things at first but I don't thi-" Danny started rubbing the back of his neck out of nervous habit before stopping dead after looking more closely at the thermos, seeing the marks on the contraption. The marks being dents that looked like something had been punching the thermos from the inside.

The disembodied being inside the thermos groaned as he felt like he'd just been chucked the length of a football field. His smoke like body inside his prison couldn't figure out which way was up or down and he could hear faint voices coming from outside, but they didn't sound like Clockwork or any of the 'guests' he sometimes had over. Dan settled for concentrating on the voices rather than figuring out if he was upside down or not.

"What in the world?" mumbled Valerie as she heard the groan come from the thermos, she looked at Danny who was frozen in fear, a look of terror across his face as he stared at the thermos fearfully.

"So this is your worst enemy, a ghost? I thought I'd get a ghost hunter or something," she said in disbelief. Danny didn't reply still frozen in fear, he felt like someone was squeezing the air from his lungs. Valerie commanded her hover-board over to the object of Phantoms fear to pick it up from its' floating position.

"Ummmm, hello?" Valerie asked the thermos, glancing across at Danny occasionally.

Dan instantly recognized the young voice of his long time enemy and glared into the nothingness inside his prison.

"Who are you?" asked Valerie, not getting an answer out of the trapped ghost she tried again. "If you answer this question and give me the answer I want, I'll let you out, okay?"

"Sure." Said a deep voice from inside the thermos in Valerie's hands. Dan just wanted to get out of the blasted thermos and if it was at the hands of Valerie then she could then be blamed for the destruction he was going to do once he was released.

"Are you Phantoms worst enemy?" she asked holding the thermos close watching Phantom intently. She figured she'd let the ghost out to beat up Phantom and then re-capture the it back in the thermos and she'd have two ghosts defeated for the effort of one.

"I suppose so...we both want to be rid of each other, that's for sure." Dan answered.

"Good enough for me." said Valerie as she pressed the release button on the thermos holding it out in front of her towards Danny.

"Nooooooooooooooo!" shouted Danny reaching out in front of him, towards Valerie as if trying to undo what she had just done.

Dark laughter rang out as Dan emerged from the thermos and his body became solid as his smoke like form finally figured out which way was up and where all his body parts needed to be placed.

"No…" whispered Danny, eyes wide in fright as his mind reeled at the sight of Dan now visible through the smoke as he tried to think of a plan to help himself and Valerie to get out of this terrible mess.

"Miss me?" Dan asked arrogantly, rolling his shoulders and cracking his knuckles, smirking at Danny.
