Hey guys! this is my first writing, so i hope you enjoy!

I looked down the long hallway. My brother's room was in the middle. I had to do this one last mission, for old times' sake. My bro was going off in a hurry to Europe, as part of an exchange program. I had to. If I do it when he's gone, then what's the point? I have to do it now. I carefully sneaked down the hallway, and peeked into his room. He wasn't there. Thank the gods! Wait, why did I say that? Gods? Anyway, as I tiptoed in, he walked up behind me.

"What are you doing, Andy?" he said, ruffling my dark blue hair. His sea-green eyes, which mine almost matched, sparkled. I sat down on the floor.

"Dang it. I was trying to sneak into your room." All of a sudden, he became very serious.

"Andy, it's fine right now, but when I'm gone, don't go into my room. It's not safe for you." His eyes looked like a stormy sea now. "Promise you won't go in. Please." What was he talking about? It was just a room. I sighed.

"Fine. I won't go in, but can I see your room now?" I said. He grinned again and said I could. The room was blue (shocker), but what most surprised me was a giant bronze shield. He looked at the shield.

"Pretty painting, huh?" He said unconvincingly.

"Um, Percy? All I see is a huge bronze shield." He sighed.

"I need to write something down. Want to help?" I said yes, and he gave me a strange pen. The ink was golden, and its name was in a different language, but I could still read it. Anaklusmos, it said. For some reason, I could translate it into English. It said Riptide. Like the sea. Percy opened it and it grew into a long, slightly growing, sword. Then it rippled and turned into an open ballpoint. Then it turned into a sword again.

"Percy? Why the hell do you have a sword and a shield in your room?" I asked. He looked nervous.

"N-nevermind. Go back to your room, Andy. I have to make a private call." He looked at me sternly.

"Okay, mother," I grumbled. As I walked out the door, I vowed to find out if that stuff really worked. He was going out with friends later, and I could sneak in then. If he took the things with him, I would follow him. That was my final decision. I swore on the river Styx. it was something I heard Percy say a lot, and it felt strange to say it.
