You know how the story goes : a boy meets a girl, a really special girl. The boy is nothing special, but he is good-hearted and wants to be a Harem King. They go on a date… the date is fun and last the entire day, all the way to sundown in a park. A very romantic setting. The girl then asks the boy to… die for her!? WHAT THE HELL!?

He then gets stabbed in the gut with a spear by his first date and bleeds out on the ground like a pig.

Normally this is how any man's life would end, but not Ise Hyoudo's. Before he died, someone came for him and offered him a second chance at life. Rias Gremory, a Devil heiress posing as a club president in Issei's high school. She gave him new life as her Devil Servant.

From then on, Issei would live many adventures in his new existence as a Devil. He would battle many great foes, meet new people and icons of legend. He would even become a hero, gain a prupose for living and find love.

In most variations of this story, after beating his ex-girlfriend in combat, saving a cute nun and beginning to channel his power, Issei was sudenely confronted with his first great trial, which would shape his future.

When Rias' fiance dropped in unannouced, Issei was quite shocked. He had noticed that his master was acting out of character, but he had no idea it was because she was engaged and scheduled to be married soon.

Issei's shock was quickly replaced by anger and outrage. As the man, Riser Phenex was a complete asshole who groped women and direspected Rias in every way.

Issei told Riser to… let's say he wanted him gone and jumped him, ready to kick his douche ass. And then he got properly whooped by the weakest of Riser's girls and knocked to the ceiling. Rias rushed to Issei's side as he went out and fury took over her.

She did care about Issei greatly, perphaps even more than a master-servant relationship should.

Normally, the course of event would be as follows : Riser mocks Issei, telling Rias that her Pawn is worthless. Rias then angerly challenges Riser to a Rating Game for her freedom and told Riser that they would only need ten days of training to defeat him and his servants.

However, in this universe Rias was able to rein in her passion and pride somewhat and agreed to Riser's initial offer of a month of training as a handicap.

Riser was too overconfident for his own good however, and this hubris would bite him in this ass, bad.

However, it would not be the only deviation of this story.

As Issei was walking in the corridors of the house, he came to stumble across a room that didn't quite strike him as right.

In front of the door, there was a big box with a logo that ressembled a sigil or house crest. It was not the Gremory household brand, it was honestly odd.

The logo was red, and compromised of the stylized letters 'D' and 'B' over a octogone and lightning bolt besides the icon of a mechanical denture and a rooster.

Issei opened the room and saw a home cinema system along with several recliners.

Issei felt rather confused by this. He wasn't aware that the estate had a cinema room. What would be its purpose? They were here to train after all.

He then looked at the box and saw there was a note on top of the lid. He grabed it and read it. His expression changing rather quickly to something akin to shock.

Issei dropped the note and ran quickly outside, crying out. "Rias-Buchou!"

Shortly after this, the entire group is inside the room, feeling some confusion. Rias Gremory, Akeno Himejima, Koneko Toujo, Kiba Yuuto, Issei Hyoudo and Asia Argento were looking at each other in confusion, all asking: where did this box and room came from?

"Do you know where this box came from, Rias-buchou?" asked Kiba.

"I don't know, Kiba. It may be a gift from my older brother, but this… is not his writing. Not to mention there is no home cinema room in this mansion." Rias answers.

"What does it mean?" Asia asks, feeling a bit nervous

"You should read the note, Rias-buchou." Issei adds, "It's really weird and freaky. Like REALLY weird."

Rias looks at her servant for a few seconds and decides to read it out loud for everyone

"If there is anyone that finds this package, and want to read the note, I will have to make it short. I don't have much time left. I must tell you, my unknow recipient, that this box contains all the episodes of the first season of a show that I and a good friend have scripted, recorded and edited to publish on the Internet that we have always loved doing. The premise of the show is: two characters from pop-culture fight each other in an epic battle to the death. We call it Death Battle. We also included a few specials features in this format to enrich your viewing experience.

The box and its contents will be sent to the winds, as I have not set up destination coordinates, across the dimensions by technology of my own design. I cannot predict where or when it will land. But it will not be our world, for it now gone at the time you read this letter.

The world that I and my friend lived on was called Earth. It was a beautiful planet filled with life of all shape and sizes and vast expanses of colorful landscape. Eventually, however homo sapiens, my species, evolved and became the dominant lifeform on the planet. We caused our world to slowly die by due our ignorance, hubris and greed.

Our population grew to amounts where the planet could no longer sustain us. Our industries and poor choices destroyed the environment and the biodiversity that kept the planet alive. By the time the human race understood that we had to use alternate and more environmentally-friendly energy sources in order to safeguard our home, it was already too late. Now we pay the price for our folly.

The end is coming. It will come for me and my loved ones. I am filled with dread. It will not be a quiet thing, we shall die screaming. The only thing I hope for now, is for my favorite series and greatest creation, will not be forgotten and will be loved by people after mt demise.

Please take good care of this gift I offer you. If you don't believe me and think this is some kind of prank, it's fine. I would think the same in your shoes. May we all shall rest in peace when our time have come.

Atte.

Wizard and Boomstick.

P.S, I want you to skip episode 14 and get rid of it. Even I wonder why we created it, recorded it and placed it in the box in the first place. It's a lame episode, trust me. We just wanted to make a joke, but it did not turn out how we envisioned it. But if you want to watch this one, be my guest."

After the end of the message, everyone felt very saddened and fell silent. Asia was holding to Issei, feeling tears come to her eyes. The thought of an entire world dead was terrible to her, as she was such a gentle person.

The others weren't felling much different; Issei was frightened at the idea of dying alone, back against the walls and broken like Wiz and Boomstick. Kiba was tightening his fists as he thought about his survivor's guilt and the friends that were long gone. Koneko and Akeno were sullen as they thought about their grief and the lost of family. Rias, however felt a resolve grow in her. She would show supprot to these unformate souls and learn from their story to grow stronger and become the best Head of Gremory House and King that she could be.

Rias then opened the box and took out a black poster, that also had big splashes of red like blood spilled and letters that seemed like they belonged on the cover of a dead metal album.

"What should we do?" Akeno asks her master and best friend.

Rias turns and looks at her entire Peerage and declares, her voice that of kingly authority, "I believe that we should at least give it a fair chance. This box is clearly not from the Underworld or Earth, at least not our Earth."

She continued, "The one who sent us this, clearly wanted this show to survive the end of all things that they described. Perphaps we will even learn a few things along the way, it may make us better at fighting."

"What do you all think?" she asked everyone present.

"We should watch it." Issei declares, "If only because people died to give us this, probably. Plus, it'll be fun, Prez. We'll get to see stuff from another world! Who could say they've the same pleasure?"

Koneko added, "We should watch it. Just one episode, then if it's shit, we'll dump it."

"I'll go along. It would be nice to learn what the world this box and its content was like." Kiba explained.

Akeno adds, "It may be a lot fun to spend time together as a group. Maybe, I'll even see some gore and horrible death scenes." The last words were that of coming off the mouth of a sadist. Akeno was after all, very cruel and ruthless in combat.

Asia tells everyone what her thoughts are, "I-I-I don't like fighting and blood. B-B-but I'll stay with everyone. That way, I will learn to be stronger with along with everyone."

Issei smiled proudly at Asia, holding her in a one-armed hug to show his support.

Rias opened the box to find the disks of Death Battle. She did found what she was looking for, but she also found an unexpected goodie: a black poster with the death battle logo on it. It also had big splashes of red like blood spilled that contained the text and the lettering belonged on the cover of a dead metal album

DEATH BATTLE

Rule #1 : Combatants have no prior knowledge of each other unless specified.

Rule #2 : To ensure a fair fight, all moral restriction from killing are removed from combatants. All other traits are considered.

Rule #3 : A combatant's maximum persona/potential, is examined unless specified. Factors unrelated to combatants cannot end the battle.

Rule #4 : Unless specified, all official material related to a character is applied, unless found contradictory to the primary source material.

This poster was informative about the rules of the show, and being so important was hanged on the wall where everyone could see it.

Next, Rias moved to the television as everyone was taking a seat and she installed the disk in the player.

Rias then grabbed the remote for the television that was right beside the TV screen and sat in her recliner. In order of seating from closest door from farthest away to the door, Team Gremory sat as followed: Kiba, Akeno, Rias, Issei, Asia and Koneko.

The screen went online and the first thing they saw was a black screen with the words, Season 1 Episode 1 in big bold, white letters.

The show from another world then begins to play. Things would never be the same again.
