I to be lost forever? I can't remember anything past that History class! My lack of memory is taking a toll on my family, my friends. Me. No longer able to fly, a black hole in my head, surgery scars flecked across my body. I just can't.

Throwing her diary across the room Christina let her head fall.

"Christina?"

"Yes?"

"May I come in?"

"Sure,"

Vana entered, dress dragging the ground, hand coming to rest on Christina's shoulder though she made no move to lift her head from the desk.

"Dracula thinks you should go outside," Vana declared quietly, sliding the diary into an open drawer.

"I don't feel like it,"

"You haven't been outside for a week. I know it's chilly but-" Vana faltered, realization striking her, "You want to fly and you don't want to run into Shaggy,"

Christina burst into tears, "I'm an awful person,"

"No, you're just adjusting," Vana soothed.

"I can't remember anything, I'm useless and a burden and stupid!"

"Don't you dare say that!"

"WHY NOT? IT'S TRUE!" Christina wailed.

Vana was at a loss. She knew how to handle boys, friendship drama, rumors, and gossip, she had gone through those things herself but amnesia was a minefield. This was uncharted territory that was tearing her niece apart from the inside out and she didn't know what to do! So, she held Christina tightly, trying to reassure her that she wasn't a burden. Alas, the girl was just so hard-headed she didn't believe a word Vana said. Once Christina had cried herself to sleep, Vana left on a mission to find help.

…...

The clock read three am when Christina woke up. Shuffling to her nightstand she turned on the lamp and looked around her room once more. The flowers were still on her desk, she couldn't get rid of them. pictures of Shaggy were laying face down on her dresser. The pile of get well cards had been moved into a box in her closet but her room was alien to her still.

Stopping in front of the mirror, she examined what was left of her wings. There wasn't much left, asymmetrically cut in stringy tatters.

Utterly useless.

Tears threatened to spill, sobs fought to escape.

I'm trapped in my own body!

…...

Even the sunlight pouring in to her room the following day couldn't bring a smile to Christina's face. Dragging herself to the dining room for breakfast, plunking into her seat with a long tired sigh. Feeling the eyes on her Christina glanced at her cousin who stared back at her with sympathy and worry.

"Morning, Christina," Draculaura greeted when she noticed she was being watched.

"Good morning, Laura,"

No other words passed between them.

hastily, Christina finished her breakfast, downing her coffee before bolting out of the dining room. She made everyone uncomfortable. Back to her room, into her closet slamming the doors behind her. The wall of jackets and vests were a welcome sight. Pictures she couldn't remember being in told her she had somehow, someway learned to live without them but her wings had been whole then, able to lift her to the skies and carry her on the winds.

Throwing on the nearest one, plain denim faded and worn, she threw it on finding comfort in knowing her wings were hidden from view.

Like they always should have been.

…...

Shaggy wandered the park aimlessly, secretly wishing to find Christina. Wishing she would remember. Remember and run to him, showering him in kisses. But that kind of thing only happened in the movies. Still, he went to the park every day in hopes of seeing Christina. Even if he had to rebuild their relationship from square one he would do it! He just had to find her first. She had to leave the house at some point after all.

Luckily, that day was today.

He spotted Christina hunched under a tree, knees to her chest while she watched passerby.

"Hi, Christina,"

She jumped turning to face him, sadness etched in her face, "Hi, Shaggy,"

"How are you feeling?"

"Can't remember anything if that's what you're asking me,"

"I'm sorry,"

"Of course you are,"

He let her snark bounce off of him. It was her defense when she felt threatened.

"I like, know that you think I'm only concerned about you because we dated but we were friends before that. Like, I want to be friends again,"

she finally moved over and allowed him to join her.

"Friends huh?" she questioned quietly

"Yeah," Shaggy nodded.

"How?"

"We met at the coffee shop..."

…...

Just his luck that he took the wrong turn.

Just his luck that it resulted in a flat.

He didn't have a spare and ended up on the monster side of New Salem.

"Well, Scoob, Fred won't be here for an hour what do you want to do?"

Scooby was too busy cowering to respond. Patting the Great Dane on the head Shaggy took stock of his surroundings. Noticing a coffee shop across the street they ducked inside. Scooby shook like a leaf, bounding after Shaggy nervously. He was so overcome with fear that he didn't look around and ended up crashing into someone leaving the counter. Seeing this, Shaggy sprung to his feet.

"I'm like so sorry," he apologized dropping to his knees to help pick up the spilled coffee cups and scattered pastries.

"No, no, it's okay," the stranger laughed, "Totally my fault I trip over the air, I'm Christina,"

"I'm Shaggy," he replied helping Christina to her feet, "And that's Scooby,"

Scooby continued to cower under the table, barely lifting his head to acknowledge Christina.

"Like, I'll be happy to pay for replacements,"

"You don't have to,"

"I insist,"

"Really you don't-"

"Please,"

"I think you're just as hard-headed as I am," Christina finally relented, "But I insist you join me, my friend won't be here for another hour,"

"Perfect, my friend won't be here for an hour,"

"Must be fate,"

"Yeah, must be,"

…...

"We like, got so into our conversation that we didn't even realize they'd arrived," Shaggy laughed, "We traded numbers the rest is history,"

"Which I can't recall,"

"I'm sure it will," Shaggy promised, " you're like, way too strong"

He counted it as a victory to see the smile that ghosted across her face.

"Tell me more?" she asked.

"Why don't we take a walk?" Shaggy suggested.

"Okay,"

Shaggy helped her up, resisting the urge to put his arm around her but she leaned into him.

"I've been having trouble with my balance," she explained, "My wings helped now I'm having terrible vertigo,"

He snaked an arm around her in support before they moved to the path which wound around the park.

"Tell me if you need to stop,"

"I'm fine right now, tell me another story?"

"What do you want to know?"

"Everything,"
