Disclaimer: I don't own any characters from the Trolls franchise, I just own Melody.

A mystic melody.

It was a dark night —the sky was filled with twinkling skies, the moon was full and bright, the breeze was gentle and as cool as a lukewarm ice cube.

It had been a full two years since queen Barb's world tour to turn everyone into rock zombie trolls and Queen Poppy of the pop trolls had United all the trolls; everything was even better than they ever had been before. Heck, everything was so peaceful that Branch had proposed to her and he had even become king of the Pop trolls in the process.

The troll village was serenely peaceful and Queen Poppy sighed as she stared up at the night sky quietly with magenta eyes overflowing with this longing.

She sat with her knees brought up against her tummy and she absentmindedly tapped her fingers against the top of the roof in no particular rhythm, she couldn't help but wonder to herself why she could not just settle down and go to sleep? Why had this been plaguing her mind so much?

Normally she'd sing a song to help her relax but she just could not find the motivation to sing just at the moment...and she didn't want to risk waking up her husband. Her mind had been uncharacteristically cast adrift since she had a lot on her mind lately and she knew that she had to try and sort through these feelings herself.

But how could she do that?

"...It's a lovely night tonight, isn't it?"

The queen almost jumped out of her skin when she heard the voice from behind her and she frantically whirled around to find the voices owner. She couldn't help but pout comically whence she found herself staring into a pair of very familiar icy blue eyes that now held this warmth that she couldn't help but find inviting.

The queen of trolls mentally face palmed, seemed that she didn't have to worry about waking him up anymore.

Poppy nodded in agreement.

"It's amazing..."

Poppy could hear as her husband hefted himself up and stepped towards her, treading lightly.

"May I join you?"

Poppy smiled and made a gesture with her hand that said "go ahead" and Branch was more than happy to oblige and settled down next to her.

The two trolls reclined back in their seated positions, Poppy snuggling into the crook of Branch's side and the queen couldn't help but let out a sigh of contentment as she closed her eyes for a minute to let all her burdens fly away as she sat beside her lover. It was silent for a moment or so as Branch handed over the moss cardigan that he'd brought out for his wife and watched as she put it on in order to keep herself warm from the cold evening.

Branch grinned as he gently furled an arm around her shoulder and pulled her close to him so he could help with keeping his queen nice and toasty despite the not-very-chilling-to-the-bone-frigid low temperatures.

A moment of silence passed by before Branch asked her whilst quirking a brow at her.

"So, what're you thinking about?"

Poppy whisked a sideways glance to Branch and she couldn't help but wonder how he could've known that something was on her mind. How could he have noticed? Was it really that obvious that something was on her mind? Well she couldn't put it passed him because he was a very clever troll. She gave a half-hearted smile as she watched the blue troll let a knowing smirk sweep across his face and his eyebrows wagged in a teasing manner.

Branch saw the look of surprise on Poppy's face and answered her unvoiced question.

"I've known you for a very long time and we've been married for over a year now, I can read you like an open book."

Poppy's half-hearted smile morphed into a whole smile (albeit a sheepish one).

"I...I...uh...w-well..." Poppy fumbled for a minute while trying to find the right words to convey to Branch without wanting to sound like a bossy and demanding queen; she loved her subjects beyond compare but even she could have a rebellious and adventurous streak within her —the fiasco with Barb and her Rock world tour said that much.

Branch quirked a brow at her.

"C'mon, Pops, you can trust me."

Poppy exhumed a small breath before she finally worded her thoughts.

"...I've been thinking about it and I wanna go and see the world. Maybe see if there are other pop trolls out there." Poppy admitted.

Branch felt confused at this confession.

Why did she want to go travelling? Of course, she was a social butterfly and wanted to befriend anybody and everybody yet he couldn't help but wonder why exactly Poppy wanted to do this now? Not only that but, as far as Branch knew, they and everyone in the village were the only pop trolls around! What would be the point in looking for something they may not find?

Besides, Branch and Poppy were just settling down in their village and marriage life was something everyone was still adapting too —especially for the couple themselves. They needed time to get used to the change and everything else so they couldn't really afford to go travelling without organising the snack pack and every pop troll in the village and preparing them for any sort of departure.

However, as Branch was about to voice his worries, he found that he just couldn't argue upon seeing the pleading look shimmering within Poppy's beautiful magenta eyes. She looked more adorable than a puppy, a unicorn and everything cute when she tried for a begging face.

Branch tried to resist but...how could he say no to such a look of adorability? Even though it was a subject brought up only seconds ago, he relented.

"Okay, okay...we'll go eventually, but promise me there'll be NO glitter."

Poppy let a snide smirk sweep across her lips.

"Sorry but I can make no such promises."

Branch rolled his eyes and playfully shoved Poppy in the side, smirking at her with feigned annoyance.

He loved being affectionate with the queen of the pop trolls especially with her being his wife now —him sharing his life with her was one of his biggest dreams since he had a crush on her ever since they were young trollings. Every time he saw her his heart would melt, even though he had to hide it behind a cruel, sardonic, sarcastic mask that made him a grumpy yet paranoid survivalist...especially since he had been living amongst happy-go-lucky trolls that always shoved their everlasting happiness in his face.

He would have been lying if he said that he still didn't have his moments of being paranoid and had the urge to grab Poppy and take her into his survival bunker.

However, in spite of those times, he always admired Poppy.

She was the troll he cared about most in the whole world!

"Is that sooo...?" Branch asked slyly before deciding to strike.

He growled playfully whilst attacking Poppy with a bunch of tickles making her laugh. Poppy tried to squirm away from the blue troll's delightful form of torture but it was no use, she just couldn't move away. The pink queen troll gasped her words in between bursts of giggles and laughter but no, Branch was relentless in his tickle assault.

"No! No, no! P-Please, Branch, st-st-stop!"

Poppy's pleas were sandwiched between her fitful laughter and breathlessness.

It took a full three minutes of him to stop.

"Ahhh, there we go. There's that smile I was missing!"

Branch and Poppy resumed snuggling up to one another, sharing their capes (and Poppy bundled herself tighter within her cardigan) as they continued to stargaze with dreamy yet thoughtful expressions etched upon their faces. They watched the night sky in blissful silence as they just enjoyed one another's companionship; the skies were as dark blue as Branch's hair and little twinkling stars were sprinkled across the heavens.

It was a sight so beautiful and romantic that neither Poppy nor Branch could help themselves as they began to sing softly in a lovely harmony.

"The deepest depths, the darkest nights,
can't separate, can't keep me from your sight..."

Branch sang the next verse as he placed a clenched fist to his chest, hung his head and closed his eyes.

"I get so lost, forget my way..."

Poppy joined in on singing the next verse of the song as she snuggled even closer to Branch. She closed her eyes and just let herself fall into this loving blissful embrace that she was in with her husband, heck, she didn't even notice that her "hug time" flower bracelet had dinged to let her know what time it was and she just sighed contentedly while she harmonised with Branch's singing.

"But still you love and you don't forget my name..."

Branch and Poppy started to sing the chorus together, their voices soft as their song carried itself into the still night sky above them.

"If you can hold the stars in place.
You can hold my heart the same.
Whenever I fall away,
Whenever I start to break..."

Poppy sang the next verse alone.

"So here I am, lifting up my heart..."

Branch finished the song with a soft whisper of a voice.

"To the one who holds the stars..."

The blue and pink trolls ended the song with a tight and loving embrace, closing their eyes and just sinking in this loving hug that made them feel so happy that it was indescribable. The warmth between them was magical and both Branch and Poppy treasured these moments they could spend together —their hearts swelled to the size of the moon whenever they were in one another's company.

A soft and lulling silence brewed between the both of them for a lengthy couple of moments.

That was when Poppy broke the silence with a sweet smile blossoming on her lips.

"Oh, and Branch?"

Branch didn't move but he noted the subdued excitement that suddenly appeared in her voice.

"Hmm?"

"You're gonna be a dad."
